Clue #25 - Gary Troup Info (2) BAD TWIN Overview

Click HERE for a post on another site with a good summary/review of the novel. Don't know if there is much relevant to the game here. Click HERE for our thorough summary.

From Molly, here is the only reference to Hanso...
"In the book, two characters have a conversation about The Hanso Foundation, specifically THF's seat on the board of Widmore. Seems Alvar is gone (from the board) and replaced with Mittelwerk (who one of the characters calls "Mudworm"). The same character says Mittelwerk "is sneaky. I much preferred having Alvar on the board. Alvar is a gentleman".

He also says Mittelwerk has "everything but morals. Everything but a conscience" to which the other person answers, " And who's Alvar? Jiminy Cricket?" That's the only really interesting passage in the book dealing the Hanso or THF"

Interesting..The Hanso Foundation is part of Widmore...and Dharma is part of Hanso. Means things are bigger and more complicated than we thought..

Also interesting:
"The Valenzetti Equation":

What if a mathematical equation could predict the apocalypse? Using recently-declassified material and hundreds of hours of interviews with former employees of the United Nations and prominent members of the defense and academic establishment, best-selling author Gary Troup turns his finely honed sense of mystery toward one of the most vexing mathematical riddles of our time.

valenzetti.com, thevalenzettiequation.com, enzovalenzetti.com and valenzettiequation.com, presumably (although unconfirmed) someone from ABC or related to the show.

I think that fully puts to rest any of the The Valenzetti Foundation stuff. It would seem (from the interviews as well) that Valenzetti refers to a mathematical theorem and it's author instead of a business/corporation...but it still may be too early to entirely rule out a Valenzetti Foundation..

Oh look a shoddy, fan-made website. I guess you sure shot down my theory...

I just thought it was interesting to see how Dhrama was part of Hanso, which is in turn part of Widmore (if I'm reading that correctly), seeing as how (at least I) once thought Dharma was a sort of corporation all it's own.

I'm not sure if the book will relate to the experience yet...it could just contain info for the fans.

Frogurt: You have the description of the labs? Anything interesting?

The two characters who have the conversation about Hanso are Arthur and Clifford Widmore. Arthur, Cliff's father, is the one who speaks fondly of Alvar Hanso.

Neil Frogurt is correct: at one point when the protagonist, Paul Artisan, is going to visit Cliff at the Widmore Corporation, he gets off on the wrong floor--the 42nd floor, where Hanso Corp is. He sees people in white lab coats and a plaque bearing Hanso's mission statement.

It's been noted that Gary Troup is an anagram of PURGATORY. In the beginning of the book, there is a letter from and later to Troup's editor in Australia, Christine DeVries. One anagram of her name is RECEIVED HINTS SIR. (This is probably just a coincidence, but interesting nonetheless.)

SPOILER ALERT BELOW ************

Finally, if we're to believe the ending of the book, it seems probable that the Widmore family is no longer involved with the company.

babe321, yesterday all five links had one letter each:

A

BREAK or BRAKE

Now there are only four current projects listed. Project Sparta requires a log in. Battersea Power Station is incredibly detailed and seems like a legitimate website (tons of phone #s and addresses listed) . . .

Gary Troup is not Turbine Man.

Babble about the Valenzetti webmaze - if you don't care, stop reading now.

The Valenzetti webmaze seems very interesting. I was half-heartedly going at it and discovered that the 'chemical formula' on Enrico's webpage is actually a code that translates to 'Chernobog Assassin'. Chernobog is a Slavic dark god, but more importantly was an important evil demon-character in Fantasia. I emailed this finding to "Enrico" and his eventual response was dismissive, linking to a conspiracy theorist blog called "The Accuracy Institute". This blog's owner is the 'crackpot' as linked from the S.K. Nave page.
So basically I guess this is a confirmation that misterinvisible is on the right track, and that this IS a webmaze, but whether it is part of the official LOST webpage is unclear. My gut feeling is that it isn't. Perhaps we should set up a secondary blog to deal with this webmaze, just in case?

There are three websites I check to keep myself up-to-date with the latest official Lost Experience developments:

1: this blog.
2: http://www.thelostexperience.com/
- which is set out pretty much like this blog, but with forums and some other stuff that I usually don't check.
3: Lostpedia
http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Main_Page
- where all information anyone has on anything about the show is kept. But the whole site can count as a spoiler for the tv show, because it is based on the most current information - the US eps.

So if you're wondering who is breaking the codes and where all this information is coming from, chances are that it was from one of these communities (or so it seems to me).

I just want to say...you guys are a ton of fun.

Strikes me that the season isn't over yet and ABC is just getting the game started. Tons of those links won't be available for months, I'm sure. Any website we haven't had access to yet is probably one we're not even anticipating.

I'm curious to see how consistent the mythology is within the game and on the show. Right now it almost seems to obvious: The Island and its secrets are the results of the Hanso Foundations Experiments. I'm hoping that doesn't wind up being the explanation...it's just a bit too "pat."

Thanks for summarizing the book and the good stuff in it, though. I didn't want to have to stand there at Barnes and Noble and page through it looking for the words Widmore and Hanso.

draic I agree, the Valenzetti webmaze has been more interesting to me than the Hanso/Persephone stuff. I'm hoping it's part of the Experience. A whois showed that accuracyinstitute.org and globalparadigmscorp.com both have the same address and phone number in their information. I called the phone number and someone named Art at the Bubank Branch has a voicemail box there. The valenzettifoundation.org site has totally different registration info (a lot of Italian) and is hosted by a different web hosting company (although they are also in California).

I'm all for setting up a separate Valenzetti site .. maybe I can look into that today. Would anyone else be interested?

nystingray: I'm going by the Lost: Season 1 DVD. There's a section in the special features called 'Welcome To Oahu: The Making of the Pilot' and there is a bit in that where we can see a stuntman and several stunt crew practicing the scene.

Turbine Man is Frank Torres, not Gary Troup.

Okay guys, I'm slow: I've just realised that Gary Troup is the CHARACTER, not the actor. :P
Please disregard all my previous comments about the matter. *goes away to blush*

do you think that the manuscript sawyer was reading in the last episode was by gary troup? that maybe sawyer knows alot more about the island but hasn't been able to say anything because of all the recent activity involving the shooting?

Just to add one little tidbit regarding "Bad Twin". Anyone catch the gate code to the Widmore mansion? It was 8-1-5-1-6. According to Zander, these were the twins' birthdays (born on either side of midnight). These are the 2nd,3rd, and 4th numbers of the sequence.

Regarding the airlines webpage...

I don't think 8:15 is a time, I think it's a teaser for the beginning of the next season. This game's designed to run throughout the summer. I think 8:15 is the premier date.
