Clue #26 - Insights from Pictures of Execs & Board

On May 8, Persephone mentioned the grainy picture of Alvar Hanso. She noticed that it is different than the others. Here is a thought provoking insight from Jenna: "Almost all of the pictures on (thehansofoundation.org) website are stock photos you can purchase anywhere on the web. Curiously, and a bit intriguing, is that the in the Executive Bios section, the only two photos that are not stock photography is the Alvar Hanso photo (of course), and Dr. Thomas Mittlewerk . To me, that indicates that Mittlewerk may soon be a real character on the show (or at least involved elsewhere in the game). The rest definitely look like stock photography."

EDIT: Ha!Ha! Jenna was right! Jacob Vanderfield, Lawrence Peck, Peter Thompson, Hugh McIntyre, Dick Cheever, and even the guy behind Joop were all found in Getty Images. Sorry I can't link to them, but trust me. That was fun! Liddy Wales is still a question mark.

Posting my previous idea... anyone?

An idea (or fear)

If THIS is the accurate translation of Persephone's latest numbers:

SIGN IN WITH HANSO PR CLUE. 8, NOT 1 AND 6.

Could "8, NOT 1 AND 6" be a riddle? Then THAT'S what we login with? Maybe it's not confirming nor denying the accuracy of the previous message... just providing another clue.

Not new... just the latest ones that are "reported" to have cleared up the translation of the date.

To me, "1 and 6" sounds like a convoluted way of saying "7," making it "...8, not 7." Just a thought.

Emri.perception.net is a fansite that used the old Hanso site as it's template. It looks like they're using the game to update it.

To "me" (strange writing that),

Yep. Figured that it was saying "8 not 7" if it was a clue. But because I'm so CRAPPY at riddles or codes... I figured that there might be something to it.

Since there's no further action on the Hanso site so far... thought it was worth considering.

p.s. how LONG can these word verification be?

So sorry but old news.

There's no link to anything else yet but I'm sure it's important for the future.

To davidm,

Yeah, and I hope that logging in today WILL be correct... but there is some presumption that this is the PIC (People in Charge) correcting those who used the wrong cipher... what if it's NOT? Would the PIC be so observant of the blogs, etc.?

Also, I'm just passing time while I procrastinate from packing boxes. I think it's a valid idea.

How come no one who has visited the site mentions the Dharma Initiative video there? It's pretty cool. Just go to active projects. It's a hidden link at the bottom of the list.

It's a cool fansite, definately, and it was great to have around when the original Hanso site went down. Anyone who didn't see the Hanso site before or the Orientation video that was on it, this is a pretty good capture of what it is.

Right now, the new Hanso site is basically the old one on huge, flash-steroids. Oh, with content that gets, presumably, updated. (Unlike the last one.)

FWIW, the latest Persephone message also anagrams to "HANSO PUNISHING CREW TIL 8, not 1 and 6." Probably meaningless, but since push_tushkin asked about other translations....

Who do you guys think of this:

I think it's a bit simpler than that. The Hanso Foundation and "Lost Experience" game needs to move at a slower pace than, say, a message board, because I'm sure the creators are hoping to draw this out over a long period of time, keep interest, and get people involved who don't do things like "reverse the flash code" and refresh their browser too many times a day (like me) or "look for links that aren't active yet." If the updates come once a week or so, I'm sure that's plenty for the casual viewer who will just log into the site after an episode of LOST airs.

I think considering the whole thing has been offline for months, and it only started last week, patience is probably in order. I have a feeling it's going to get pretty darn good.

The www.oceanicairlines.com site has been changing alot in the past couple of weeks. They kept adding dots until it was a configuration of 4 in a row and then two rows of two each. I think it was Friday that it changed to "Ready" in a grey rectangle under the dots and then later a white and grey striped scrolling bar in place of "Ready". It was doing some weird stuff over the weekend, too. The eight dots would change into "Time is up" and then a grey box appeared that had words zooming across it, but I could never get a screen capture of it. Then it went to the question mark, flashed 8:15 and then went to "Reset". I tried loading it at 8:15am CST and 10:15 CST and got the error message. I tried reseting my darn clock and got the same thing. =oP Frusterating!

I haven't noticed this mentioned anywhere, but what's with the drawings that go on behind Joop's webcam picture after you sign up for the newsletter? It starts off as nothing and eventually becomes a big, black mess of scrubbles, but there seems to be a method to the madness of the design.

is anyone else getting a bit tired of oceanicairlines.com? From what I've seen it's not part of the game, and thus fan-made, and thus fruitless in my opinion. If abc was going to use an oceanic-themed site for the game, why wouldn't they use the one they already have?

This is not related to Persephone or the Hanso Foundation, but it may be something. I can't remember if the global Paradigms corp. is a fake site or not, but on their worker's personal site- Michael Sontag- http://globalparadigmscorp.com/~msontag/ is an email add. in morse code. I emailed Grendel at global paradigms corp. a few days ago and they responded with this email:

me:
> who and Where is he and How do you get him out? what do you know about the
> hanso foundation?
>
>
>

them:
http://www.globalparadigmscorp.com/secure/cage

the link at the bottom leads you to a log in. I'm sharing this cause i dont know if anyone else got it or if its one fantastic run-around. plus, I suck at these things.

I'm convinced that at least some of these "unofficial" sites are actually legit. I've put a brief overview on my blog.

If these aren't part of the game yet, I think they will be.

i'm under the impression that oceanicairlines.com is not part of the game. As I said before, if anything oceanic was going to be in TLE, I would expect it to be the official oceanic-airlines.com site. It wouldn't be hard to setup a "relaunch" of that website along the same lines of the Hanso site.

Also, for now, I think I'm still standing firm that the Valenzetti Foundation site is bogus. Not only is it really poorly designed, but all the Gary Troup information thus far is pointing towards Valenzetti being a mathematician and something called the Valenzetti Equation. This seems to be somewhat far off from a scientific foundation of some sorts...so until I see proof otherwise I'm deeming the Valenzetti Foundation site bogus, and not part of the Experience.

Just a side note to the globalparadigmscorp.com stuff, it appears that the domain was registered in June of 2004, although the site states (in numerous places) the company filed for chapter 11 in 1995. The domain is set to expire June 18th of this year. Guess if they renew it is in-game, no?

I think the S.K. Nave stuff may be "in-game" or, at least worth persuing. There is an Amazon listmania list by a "Rachel Nave" called "If You Love S.K. Nave, You'll Also Love..." whose nickname is "mygrandmothersbooks." here's the URL:

DARN IT! It's not working for me! As for whether a site is in or not, who knows? With all this speculation, don't put it past ABC to contact fan and say "Hey, for the good of the game can we use your site to jack with people?"

Go there and click on Pre-board check in. Underneath "Ethan Rom", drag the letters into the boxes to spell the anagram, "Other Man". It shows a video of Walt being taken off the raft by Zeke and the Others.

Interesting...

So no good decoding of the anagram?

Here are some ideas:

SIGN IN WITH HANSO PR CLUE
LOGIN WITH USER CHAPINNS
LOGIN WITH PASS NU INCHER
WNNLG IS IN HANSO PICTURE

Also... I've noticed that the different projects all have letter acronyms. Also, they sometimes have an "R" or "C" symbol following. I wonder if that could be a big anagram for something?

Go to the Mission Statement page (I believe) to see them all listed out... it just looks suspicious to me.

It is an auto win code, just thinking...

Ok, it's nice to be old. In an old show called "the prisoner" had an intro "Where am I?"
"In the Village."
"What do you want?"
"Information."
"Whose side are you on?"
That would be telling."
"We want information. Information. Information!"
""You won't get it."
"By hook or by crook, we will."
""Who are you?"
"The new Number 2." (This may vary)
""Who is Number 1?"
"You are Number 6."
""I am not a number — I am a free man!"
(Laughter from Number 2.)

The clue is in the answer as always. On the hanso website, who is in charge, 8 not 1 or 6 so goto BOD and look at picture 8 :) see if it fits.
Thanks to everyone who is playing. It has been lots of fun.
