Clue #28 - Gary Troup Info (3) Newspaper Ad & Response

The Hanso Foundation bought AD space in several metropolitan newspapers across the US. Jennifer in Boston was first to notice and send me an email. I've heard it's in the Chicago Tribune, LA Times, Philadelphia DailyNews, New York, Washington, and Dallas (and I'm sure other places). Here is what the AD said:

A message From Hugh McIntyre, Director of Communications at the Hanso Foundation

Don't Believe "Bad Twin"

For over thirty years, The Hanso Foundation has stood for compassion and innovation, but today, our reputation has been attacked in the novel "Bad Twin," written by Gary Troup and published by Hyperion books.

Throughout the pages of "Bad Twin" readers have found numerous passages featuring misinformation about the Hanso Foundation and its partners. The Hanso Foundation strongly objects to the book "Bad Twin," and encourages readers to make up their own minds.

The truth about the Hanso Foundation is available at www.TheHansoFoundation.org and not on the pages of Gary Troup's "Bad Twin".

Experience it for yourself.

Thank you, and namaste.
Hanso Foundation, Reaching Out to a Better Tomorrow

UNLESS he's in over his head. Persephone did ask if was hiding.
I've thought he's the original Sawyer, too, though. And I think those thugs he ripped off are going to end up responsible for Locke's being in a wheelchair.

As for the bad grammar.. it has happened on the site before. Well mistakes at least..

http://jayandjack.com/wiki/index.php?title=The_Lost_Experience#persephone.hansofoundation.org

If you scroll down a bit past the 1/4 mark, there's a picture of the 'Important News' section which can be found on the front page, bottom left of the Hanso site.

I don't know if they've corrected it.. but before there was a picture of a city with the words '...and our OUR work for a safer environment.'

So yes, even they can screw up the grammar or spell-checking every once in awhile.

Egad! It that's the official blog it sure is a bore. I mean, I'll keep an eye on it, just like I do everything else, but I won't enjoy it. =oP

Anyway, so I've been looking at Bad Twin at Borders for the last few weeks. Anybody actually own it? Is it worth buying?

Stefanie is right. The whole show has strong spiritual overtones and has had almost from ep 1. The Hanso site makes the company out to be a godsend for mankind. On the other hand, as we all know, just because you think you know what's right doesn't mean you really do and power corrupts. Perhaps Alvar started the thing off with the best of intentions, and many areas of the company may well still have good intensions (the thing about Sri Lanka and how "it just isn't right") but (Evil Dr?)Mittlewerk has somehow taken control. Maybe he is in hiding. Maybe he was even on the plane...

No, that's not what I originally saw. The link must be messed up. Here is is again: http://newspaperads.philly.com/ROP/ads.aspx?advid=408750&adid=2947506&cat=5804

And here is a direct link to the GIF image: http://img.travidia.com/rop-ad/2947506

I wanted to keep all the Philly.com stuff around it to show it was really posted on there. It would have been cool if it was only available for a short time then pulled in place of another clue, but that is not the case.

Anybody else notice how the music stops when you go to the Exec Bios page? There is sound there but it's more like...I don't know...an eerie, almost mechanical noise. Was that like that yesterday?

Also, I can't go to Mathematical Forcasting until I go to some other project first on Active Projects page. Weird

Click on the RSS next to the login... something's always appeared whenever an update has happened. Not sure if it ALWAYS pertains to the exact page it mentions... not sure how RSS feeds work...just know how to press a button.

The RSS feed takes me directly to the exec. bios page...not the main page. And while impatiently regretting me posting something here about the RSS feed.... I noticed something about the Mittlewerk picture. Besides it being the ONLY pic that's not from Getty, the building in the back kinda looks like the building from the Hanso pic. And it looks like it's been photo-shopped, layered.... I'm thinkin' that one of the next few clues is gonna be with Mittlewerk.

Okay, this may be completely old news.. but did you know that there is space under Joop's name to type in the Joop's corner page? Click right under it. Doesn't do anything when I type there though..

Yep, no sound on the bio's page for me either..

and the only bio that has a signature underneath is Mittlewerk's.. why is that? Doesn't it look like an old person's writing..? hehe just me?

Scott:

We are sure of his real name - It was revealed in "Lockdown" (S2 E17):

[We see a concerned look cross Helen's face as she's reading the obits.]
HELEN: John? John, what's your father's name?
LOCKE: Why?
HELEN: Is it Anthony -- Anthony Cooper?
LOCKE: Yes, that's right.
HELEN: He's dead.

BTW, I don't think he is Hanso, but if he was, that could expain why Hanso has been missing - he was sick becasue he needed a kidney transplant.

You know, if Alvar "made his mark" during WWII he would be a very old man. The end of the war was 61 years ago and he'd have to be at least an adult before he could make that mark. Of course, if your company has it's very own Life Extension Project going on you're going to benefit from that...right? So, he'd be between 80ish and say, Joop's age, 105. He may look much younger, but there could be side effects. Back to Locke's father=Alvar Hanso; I wonder if the treatment could cause kidney failure.

the ad works as just that--an advertisement. primarily for the book BAD TWIN but also for the lost game and for lost the tv show. they're all owned by abc. it's a brilliant marketing scheme.
