Clue #34 - Persephone (7) ERI, Compass, Jeep
We've got another (sponsored) website with tons of information. Here's how we found it AND how the general public found it:
1. We noticed a change to the Hugh McIntyre Bio and the Electromagnetic Research Initiative page...We couldn't figure out the password for Hugh, so we started at the ERI page thinking maybe the hacker Persephone would hook us up. (From CHRIS) Make your mouse find the coordinates...
X: 629
Y: 291
Then we clicked on that exact location causing the screen to warp (thanks to another clever hack by Persephone), click the same spot again and it takes you to...www.letyourcompassguidey
1. Everyone else watched LOST and saw the Hanso Commercial (again) but this time it tells you explicitly to go to www.letyourcompassguidey
The title of this new page is "permissum vestri complector rector vos" which is Latin and roughly translated it is: your permission to surround and guide you...or basically is says...let your compass guide you :)
Anyways, on that site you find a funky compass and feel really stupid after playing with the spinny thing when you realize that there is a link just to the right of the compass that you need to click.
On this parchment/compass drawing there are some small, seemingly out of place numbers printed on it next to 108. "DI9FFTR751". These numbers have also been seen on some Dharma issue materials on the show!

Look around in all these files, there is plenty to see! (HERE IS A ZIP file with most of the important stuff) Why order so many Jeeps?
-Check Peter Thompson's inbox for a string of binary numbers. (From the Index of /usr, click pthompso/, click mail/, click INBOX, Copy and paste the link http://www.adcott.net/binary into your computer's Internet browser and Adcott's Binary Translator will load, Copy the binary code from the same email as the Adcott web address and paste it into the Binary box and hit decode, Voila! The password "THE MOUTH PIECE" appears)
-Keep an eye out for Buddha...he's also telling us the password. (Pssst...it's "the mouthpiece").
-Watch the jeep commercial from Hugh's inbox has a message at the end with the Dharma Logo. It reads ECHO ME UTEP HIT. Rearranged that turns into "The Mouth Piece"
There is lots of juicy info in here, check it out and we'll start a list of significant findings (anyone notice Peter Thompson's signature?)

If this all turns out to be just a full-blown marketing scam, I'm really gonna be ticked. So far we don't know anything other than ABC is getting some big bucks from Verizon, Monster.com, Sprite, Chrysler, and who know what else.

Also, looks like they wanted a bunch of Jeeps and then got turned down by Daimler due to their activities somewhere. Bet it's the same place that's missing off the MFI page...

Interesting. On the page in Petey's mail that has the specs for the Jeeps, the Compass (dog ugly car, BTW) is the only one who's attributes are listed vertically. Hmmm... Meaningful or just because you got there in a puzzle featuring a compass? Also, can't figure out what the blacked out feature might be from the Jeep site. Wonder how THEIR server is holding up right now? HAHAHA
Jeep as a clue. Where the hell are they going that they 23 JEEPS! I mean, traditionally you want a Jeep for it's off-raod capabilities. They're nice and all...but why JEEPS?

Yakobus: I'm thinkin' FAKE. It ceratinly wouldn't be the first, either. Ever seen the Orientation film for The Goblet? That one is really well done. Althought I found the music in this one to be quite scary and Nazi-ish.
Hype: I have done the Newsletter bit; however, I didn't bother to the stuff with the Sprite site. That would be kind of irritating if you HAVE to do every step to move forward.

if you get to the screen with all the falling objects-click the pink letters they pull up all sorts of documents.
Anyone know what's up? The password isn't working for me. I tried the Thomas Mittlewerk one as well just to make sure the site was working, and that pass wont work either!
I had trouble with the password and finally got it by trying to sign up for the newsletter. After you get "logged in" by Persephone you should be able to enter the password in. (I also have done all the other stuff with the compass too, so I don't know if that is part of it.)
Ok so that's the deal. You have to be "logged in"...which is dumb because I got to the compass site via my logged in Hanso site. The compass site, in turn, linked me to a Hanso site where I was not logged in. So.
if it's not working for you, go log in and view persephone's first message, then "the mouth piece" will work
So in peter thompson's mail folder on the compassguide website, there is the jeep proposal. On the 4th page, it lists the specs for each jeep type. One of the Jeep Compass' is blacked out. If you goto the official jeep compass' website you can download a pdf with all the specs you can choose from. I dunno if there is anything here but im trying to figure out what feature they dont want us to see. Any ideas?

yeah if the passwords arent working you have to re-log into the system by using 'breaking strain' in the newsletter section. Sometimes when sites bring you back to the bios section is resets the flash I think.

for some reason when the compass site spit you out into the bio section IT IS NOT THE SAME HANSO PAGE YOU JUST LEFT. You need to go to the newsletter, LOG IT all over again, sit through persephone's message, and THEN click the bios section and enter "The Mouth Piece" and click enter

I hate to be this way but all of the advertising built into the game annoys me. If we ever see a flashblack of a character driving around in a Jeep while drinking a Sprite then I will simply stop watching the show.
jason - rfp = request for proposal ... in the business world, companies that are going to sign a big contract generally put out an rfp that details the specs and then other companies 'bid' for the contract... nice catch, I missed that... did notice the use of vi though, that brought a smile to my face, remembering my early college days...

i am sure the dharma classification video is fake because it does not show the symbols for the pearl or the door stations.
i am also pretty sure that all of the files on letyourcompassguideyou.com are set up as if on a UNIX system. i only have minimal experience with UNIX so i don't know what all the commands mean, does anybody else out there have a better idea? there could be clues hidden in those coded files.
prdoring, the words you are trying to make out at http://www.letyourcompassguideyou.com/usr/hmcintyr/mail/news_ad.jpg imprinted on it above the hanso emble at the bottom are "Happy Mother's Day" backwards (like when you photocopy thin paper.)
One more thing, regarding the green compass page (that won't load) you may need to update your flash. I had to download and install the new beta version of Flash for intel Macs. Then it all loaded just fine;)
In case it is of interest to anybody anymore, when the login screen comes up and you are asked if you are one of the good ones, it says you are now logged onto "openers hep" which is rearranged to get 'persephone'
