Clue #35 - Persephone (8) Hugh McIntyre Busted!

EDIT: If you are having trouble following these steps for yourself or if you're trying make sense of this, it might help to walk throug Clue #34 first and then re-login to the Hanso site (in the newsletter section) using "breaking strain" as your password.

Persephone's message before this one was "standby"(See Clue #33). Looks like she knew that she was going to be bringing the goods! Persephone is now trying to tell us something about Hugh McIntyre now...There has been a change to his Bio...and sooo much more!

Persephone displaced Hugh's picture with question marks and added a log in to his bio page.

found the password first next to Buddha (It is also found in several other places...Hey! If you haven't read Clue #34 yet, you should probably do that first before proceeding!). The password is "the mouthpiece".

We typed in "the mouthpiece" on Hugh McIntyre's bio. Click on "devoted to family values". See Persephone's message. Click on the picture and then the falling objects.

Enjoy the juicy tidbits of gossip Persephone shares with us about the so-called "family man".

Yup, password is any combo of "the mouthpiece" (space, no space, etc). Click on the falling pink squares and they are receipts from hotels, etc. I've just sent in images of them to the moderators, as well as the PW info.

BTW, it looks like some other locations will open up if you visit sites first, just like the sublymon clue, but I haven't been able to find what they are yet.

They are developing things that won't open up to you until you visit one of the "sponsor" sites. Thats why sometimes you can't just go to the clue location. As to the password, I got it from the binary in the mail directory. To anyone who works with it every day, you recognize *odd* e-mail headers, and I can tell you I NEVER saw binary in an IMAP tag field! It also was pretty obvious once the bin was translated to hex (or decimal) that the range of numbers indicated ASCII characters.

I know thats a bit beyond most, but that is what we are here for; if you are good at something and the clue is up your alley, run with it! If not, sit back and enjoy!

Funniest part is that I DIDN'T go to the binary site! I did it by hand. It was only after I saw posts about it I tried and it was a few seconds. It was when I saw the decimal 32 (hex 20) that I realized it was a space and pulled up an ascii chart.

Hey, I'm a guy. We NEVER ask for directions unless backed into a corner... Good to know my bin-->hex skills are still good. Must be all that Cisco work I do! :-)

Not entirely unrelated, but the pine message in hmcintyr's mailbox shows a server named "p3x24.thehansofoundation.org". Going there with a browser shows the hanso homepage as if you don't have flash installed. Pull up the source for the page and the only thing unusual is a URL at the top - www.djdan.am.

Odd, the next time I went through, it detected fine and fired up the hanso homepage.

p3x24 appears to have a dummy mailserver setup there:

[root@xxx root]# telnet p3x24.thehansofoundation.org 25
Connected to p3x24.thehansofoundation.org.
Escape character is '^]'.
220 www.thehansofoundation.org ESMTP

That weird date is the coordinates you need to set your mouse on for the ERI page. it isn't a date at all it's telling you to click on the spot where the mouse matches the numbers given.
October 62, 9291 is X:629 Y:291.

Also not sure if they want to clear it up or not but the loose Latin translation...it is Let Your Compass Guide You, just in Latin :)

Also, I know they want to challenge everyone but don't overthink things. In Peter's inbox message the binary code listed is followed by "URL:http://www.adcott.net/binary/" That site was created specifically for the purpose of cracking that code. If you go to the main page it states strangely enough "there is no website here" when you hover your mouse over the adcott logo. Also, don't rack your brains about the "hidden message" on the newspaper ad that says Happy Mother's Day, that was an actual advertisement that seems to have been imprinted on the scanned file under hmcintyr news_ad.jpg, that's why it appears backward.
I don't think the Alvar Hanso reels on youtube are legit, because the listed names and symbols of the stations on the island does not match up with the symbols or the names shown in the final video Locke had seen in "The Pearl" station. The only thing that can explain this is if the misinformation on all the reels including the facilitator's name change was on purpose so that each research station had different information given to them to help compartmentalize the experiments done by each seperate research station.
This is just a HUGE leap but on the JEEP poster the clock face reads 8:56, and the fireman is aiming at the summer portion of the "Around The Year" disk.
Can it be a date, maybe in the summer? 8=August 5(5th), 6(2006)? Just throwing that out there...

I'm a french speaker, and I have noticed that in the Belle epoque quotation there is 2 mistakes:
- quatre pairs: they forget to put an E at pairEs
- Vest: usually there is an E also at the end

I've also noticed that it's written Paye Cash, which means paid cash.

The 10 place de la concorde, is the address of the chic Hotel Crillon, which is one of the finest hotels in Paris.
Actually there is no such shop called "Belle epoque" in this hotel, but the Belle epoque (which means good period , but it is also an architectural design) is a cabaret in Paris.

I don't know if this will lead us to something, but I thought I can share it with you.

They should be more careful about the spelling in other languages :D

If you need someone for the Arabic or the French translation, I'll be here !

Can we stop with 'hacking the flash source code'...I'm very proud of all you 'flash programmers' who are smarter than the rest of us monkeys who can only point, click and use a small amount of deductive reasoning. Hurray for the flash programmers who are so smart!

Hacking the flash source code is cheating, but it more than that. You guys are ruining the game for others who want to play it legitimately. Most of us are coming to these boards to share clues and ideas...to figure out the puzzle for ourselves.

These hacks are just like spoilers in the other forums. If you are going to post them, at least have the decency to give a 'flash code hack' alert.

Ok...for the last two days had major issues trying to get into the hugh bio page. Tried everything. Every spelling. This morning I went thru the compass page, into Alvar's directory as usual...go to thf site...logged into the newsletter section. Never had this...type in password as breaking strain and then got a message from someone asking if I could read this. I answered yes in the same box where you type in the password for the newsletter. It was our famous persenne asking for another password. I tried missing organs, heir apparent and the mouthpiece here. All of these passwords gave me a prompt from here to listen call the call center in the tv ad. Still couldn't get into hugh's bio. went back and when she prompted me for a password I gave here the same breaking strain. she then said I was logged in and NOW the hugh bio worked for me. I tried everything and this new prompt with Pers on the newletter threw me, and I see someone else on here had the same thing.

It was just saying password incorrect. This was the first time I ever got a message from her in the same area as where you entered breaking strain in the newsletter section. I know many of you got this already...and I do read all the blogs to make sure I'm doing it right. But I always want to try it for myself to see what everyone else is seeing...but this was the first time I got thru. And I did the same thing I have done for 2 days so I think some of us just have more difficulty getting thru. Everybody's right, there's just one small detail that's being left out!

They're saying you have to "log in" again with Persephone by going to the newsletter page, and you do- just not the regular homepage. If you do that, she'll just welcome you back and tell you there's no news.

What you have to do is go to the compass page and say you're not one of the good ones. You will be directed to --> http://www.thehansofoundation.org/#section=bios <--

(I'm not sure if you can just go straight there or if you have to go through the compass site)

Once you're there, THEN you log in again with Persephone and it should work.
