Clue #37 - Persephone (10) Peter Thompson Busted!

*ANNOUNCEMENT* Sometimes clues and passwords on contingent upon the user completing previous steps. If you are having a problem with a password or clue, make sure you have "logged in" to the Hanso site in the newsletter section, followed instructions in previous clues, etc. If you get stuck, backtrack.

On to the clue...
Check out Peter Thompson's page in the Executive Bio Section...There are transparent letters flashing on his picture (see pic below). Look carefully (and quickly), the letters spell "survivor guilt"

There is an invisible field in which text can be entered under Peter Thompson's picture. Click on it and type "survivor guilt" and hit the enter key. Another Persephone hack! She takes you to a desk with papers on it. From there you learn about 3 events from Peter Thompson's past. Turns up more corruption. Hmmm...

See if you can find Persephone's message, "Don't believe his lies." Also look for DR. MARVIN CANDLE. For a peak at the screens, see the SCREEN CAPS page.

*Credit to Jonah, DH, Cory, Chris, Kris, Kendra, Matthew, Jesse, Ivan, Maria, Alex, James, Elaine, John, Courtney, Jake, I'm sorry...you get the idea (For those of you that had this an hour before we posted it...forgive us...and thank you for your patience...we're doing our best to keep the rest of our lives intact :) and still stay ahead of the game! )

Also, doesn't that coat look kind of like the one Waxman/Wickman was wearing in the newest orientation vid?

In the show, there have been two or three references to Tallahasee...one being that Kate had been there. The Globoco Oil case file mentioned that the chemical spill was off the Florida panhandle - that's where Tallahassee is. Is that a stretch or what?

Bullyragging? The handwritten message abou South Georgia uses this very unusual word, when it could use something plainer like bully, harass, badger, intimidate...bullyrag, or ballyrag (an alternative) seems to be a word from the 19c. US, maybe connected to the South, but you certainly don't see it often...clue?

Here's a word blog about "ballyrag":

I read this blog everyday, usually several times. How did I miss the part where there are pictures behind Alvar's pic and Liddy Wales question mark? And how do you do it? They won't drag. =o/

Here's another question. Is there a way ro rewind the flash movies? Everything I try reloads the site and I'd like to get some screen caps without having to go back in "give it one more try" everytime.

I've wasted my entire day at work on this game (it's awesome!) since I heard about it this morning, and I've gotten an idea, but I'VE NEVER SEEN THE SHOW. NOT ONCE. Can someone clue me in about what the heck this Hanso bunch have to do with why an airliner crashed on an island? And what the heck's going on on that island?

it seems, before the creepy guys shows up and during the 'don't believe his lies' part, there's a DOCUMENT that flashes briefly as well as something that looks like an eyeball, or a retina, or an intricate seal of some kind.
any ideas on what it could be or how to get a clearer look?

So, if I'm following so far, Persephone has hacked the Foundation and led us to clues proving that the PR Guy doesn't always tell the truth and the Lawyer has represented big companies accused of doing Very Bad Things. And one of them may have cheated on his spouse. Add that all together and we now know that The Hanso Foundation is ... a corporation!

Maybe after some more serious skullduggery and fancy Flash graphics, it will be revealed that THF has some highly trained accountants who are working over the company books to show ... favorable financial performance. Evil.

The ? hatch was the pearl... hence the pearl orientation video... this only means that the person (Desmond?) who wrote the map on the blastdoor had the wrong name at that hatch... if the cv iv is even designating a hatch... those numbers and letters CV I, CV II, CV III...ect. might be something different all together... since the ones at the swan hatch are closed off since the incident... we have no way of knowing what they are as of yet.

that helps me find discussions of specifics.
hope that helps....

I did not mean to offend you... if I did I am sorry... it just seems that alot of people are joining into the game and commenting on things right off the bat... with out reserching what has been said already. This is just another way for all of us to improve our relationship with those around the globe... and there are enough people here and across the world who do nothing but make Americans seem like egotistical bastards who care about nothing but themselves and I do not feel that this is how we need to be represented.

Dear JackBauer,

I never said I was right about those things. It was just my opinion and an attempt to further the conversation... so who is being arrogant here, you or I. Also what I meant was that the blastdoor shows the text "The Pearl?" I THINK that it was stating that the pearl IS the "?" or that the writer of the map thinks it is or doesn't know where the pearl is. I never said that this is right and you are wrong.
If thats the way you took it, then who am I to disagree with you... Practice what you preech... I just said what everyone else had been saying in order to reitterate the point... We don't know... hence the (Desmond?) I was being just as skeptical as the next guy on that point.
Also I have Never Flamed anyone as you so delicatly put it... I just think that there is a lack of information when it comes to the posts people are throwing up. True it is not hard to skip to the next post, but it is diffucult for everyone when the next post and the next post and the next post are all the same information that has been repeatedly covered. If people would just take some time it wouldn't get so frustrating for everyone else trying to get the valuable information they are looking for... in example the need to sign into the newsletter repeatedly. I have no quarells with you or anybody else, but the new comers are finding it hard to get the info they need since it is all acattered about at random... My attempts are not to judge but to help keep things in a controlled layout so that it will be helpful when warented.
I too would consider myself BLISSFUL at times... yes. Because even I have repeated myself in different sections, to try and get to the bottom of things or bring up a debate about a specific clue that has come to the forefront of the conversation.
The only Flaming being done was what you just wrote. I mentioned that the CV's in the diagram were not part of the hatches as a whole and that Karen Degroot is on the boat at the end of season 1 (see the woman who throws the bomb) she looks and wears the same seashell necklace as Karen Degroot is wearing in the orientation film. But I try to say these things in a way that isn't going to spoil the show for those who have only seen the first couple of season 2 episodes in other countries.
I am not judgeing people for there opinion but trying to shed some light on what they have said. If you think that is wrong, that is your problem and if you really don't like it that much just skip it and move onto the next post.
All this confusion and now even this post are just making it longer and harder for the new comers to get the info they need. So again I am just trying to help and if you feel personally attacked that is your OPINION just as I have mine and Moonunit has hers (Zapppa?). The point is to work together not work against.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, I did a real quick Find on the site and it returned nothing, so here goes.
Through the Paik-Heavy site, if you click on the slow air demo link, you can get to a website by Peter Thompson at http://www.squidoo.com/phi-eri/, the first post there has four links on it: 1998, 1994, 2001, and Clair Nims. Each link takes you to what appears to be the same page, where the numbers 76,73,69,83 are written in a vertical column spanning about twelve pages. The very last set has a link on the 3 in 83, which just returns you to the phi-eri site. At first glance this is useless, but I looked at the .php file names in the address bar, and each is different, and all are clearly in hexidecimal. If you convert those names into ASCII text, they each say a single word. Untrue, False, Helpless, and Hopeless. I can't remember if they are in that precise order though, and I don't have my notes in front of me. Also, in light of the "Survivor Guilt" password and what you learn by using it, the numbers 1998, 1994, and 2001 correspond to the years in which Peter Thompson was involved in litigation for the Oil, Nuclear Power, and Tobacco industries, wherein a lawsuit blaming each industry as the cause for an increase in cancer rates was filed. The last link of the four is also related, in that Peter Thompson states I work for criminals, always have always will. Or something like that. Because if Clair Nims is an annagram for Criminals.
Though this is just kind of an interesting bit of info at this point, the really interesting part is at the bottom of the page, where there is a post titled Follow Me.
There are several links, that force you to take some unrelated quizzes, which you have to sign up for, all for the purpose of piecing together the name of a .php file. If you click on the Answer link, a page shows up that just says Try Again, or something like that, and it links back to Phi-Eri. But the address ends with abcd.php, the idea being that you replace a,b,c, and d with some values that you get from the quizzes. I'll save everyone the trouble and just tell you that you should replace abcd.php with g22ab. This takes you to a message from Peter Thompson, which you can read for yourself, but at the bottom is more hexidecimal. Which says "offline for a couple of days", and a link of hex which says "will update Monday" that just sends you back to phi-eri. Sorry this was such a long comment, but you should definitely check it out.
