Clue #47 - Persephone (15) Miracle, Heavy Water / Plus more DJDan & Jeep Stuff

PERSEPHONE CLUE: There was an update this afternoon in the WWPDP section of thehansofoundation.org. Go there and click on the Press Release in the WWPDP section. Find and click the world "miracle" to bring up a text box requiring a password. The password is "heavy water". Heavy Water was deduced from "D20" which was found hidden under the right eye within the latest picture posted at hole3.thehansofoundation.org. D2O is referencing deuterium oxide, which is more commonly (used very loosely) known as "heavy water".

Talk about missing organs! Read the article and listen to the audio...look closely...lots of interesting stuff.

If you're having trouble with the password, try entering the site by clicking HERE.

THIS is an intersting screen cap? See the message and the person?

*Couldn't tell who definitively deserves credit for this. I've heard "EVIL" is the one who gets the props. Everyone seemed to be working like mad. Check out "EVIL" and the rest of the superstars in the comments!

Sorry to put 2 "Clues" in one but that's how it worked out...

DJDAN CLUE: Go to DJ Dan's website and click on the "6/01" in the Podcast section. This takes you back to the Compass site (from Clue #34). Click on 108 degrees position just outside the compass. It opens the same USR Directory as before. Scroll down and click the "owelles" folder and then click "tel_soul.mov" (sellout)

DJDan's podcast is in YOUTUBE . Great. Jeep advertisements...

A couple new items that popped up on the DJ Dan podcast on YOUTUBE.

1. at around 00:25 a painting of a woman is shown. Does anyone know the name of the picture or the painter?

2. Beginning around 1:42 and appearing repeatedly is an overhead shot of a facility. Not sure what this is supposed to be.

The rest of the images appear to have already been covered. Sell Out would appear to be a password for something, but what?

The painting is Persephona by Dante Rosetti, a pre-Raphaelite painting. It references Persephone from Greek mythology. She was the daughter of Ceres/Demeter, the goddess of the harvest, and the wife of Hades, after he tricked her into eating some pomegrante seeds while she was hanging out in the Underworld. She spends half the year in the Underworld--winter, when her mother won't let things grown--and half the year on Earth, spring and summer, when things grow.

The painting is hanging in the Tate Gallery in London.

hoopleton, doesn't work I'm afriad. The problem seems to be my ISPs cache. Any site falling under http://www.thehansofoundation.org/ is limited by their remote update. I've had to put in various names instead of the www for a while to get new clues up, but this clue it seems doesn't work if you substitute something else for the www. I cleared my internal cache but it didn't make any difference nor did switching to IE (from Firefox). I will check to see if there is a remote cache I can connect to somewhere, but otherwise I will have to wait until tommorow.

Okay, on a previous thread, the issue of "vMessage" came up as it related to Peter Thompson (I think) and his e-mail footer.

There was no consensus formed, but I was finding hits on Google that related vMessage to things like vCard and PDA synchronization.

Now I have proof, finally. It has nothing to do with video, at least intrinsically.

Go here, then read in the middle column on the second page, under "IrMC Option Package."

I know it's a lot of work for a little point, but I don't want to see people go headlong down the wrong path with what vMessage does or does not mean.

Oh well, doesn't look like there is a way around it. NTL (My ISP here in the UK) automatically divert you to their local cache server which it seems updates slowly and as this only works from the www address I will just have to read everyones descriptions (which I've been trying to avoid so far) and join in from there then actually experience it for myself when they finally refresh it. I hate NTL so very much, but I have no choice of ISPs where I live (unless I pay £100 to get a BT phone line installed, which I'm not going to do).

Sorry OT rant over. I'll be back when I've caught up (which may be hours, lol).

Finally got the DJ Dan podcast though. Nothing interesting from Dan but it has made me think he's been compromised or maybe *he* is working for a Hanso competitor.

So, do you think "missing organs" is still a password somewhere? Likely it will be, but it sure seems like it should have been the password for "miracle" now that we know for sure about the organ harvesting bit. What does heavy water have to do with that? And who would have ever thought that we'd get more use out of the blast door map than John Locke?!?

"Maybe we should reference the blast door when we need passwords in the future"

That was exactly what I was thinking after the clues podcast. Just as they were saying about the show not being linked to the game I was recalling that we'd had a previous hint that was written on the blast door map. Is this sychronisity or what?

I think it's worth checking through the map and maybe trying a few bits of it in various password boxes.

Basically, these guys are soliciting funding for research based on the idea that if D20 is extracted from a living organism a certain way, the organism will rejuvenated in a controlled way such that it may reverse aging back to say age 20.

To me this seems very pertinent to what we are hearing about the Hanso Foundation's research efforts and...dare I say...no...I won't say it...

I have scanned over as much as I can of the events of the last 24hrs but it was just too much. I have to go to bed.
Here is what I didn't see but wanted to mention. Sorry if it has been brought up before.

The picture of the doctor on the press release page looks VERY MUCH LIKE Captain Jonathon Archer of the Enterprise in "Enterprise". Am I wrong?

The picture with persephone's hidden message that came up on the podcast was the same as one of the images in a previous clue. See here. It is the third image down.

The anagram of the mouth piece in one of the Dharma logo image found in the DJDAN podcast(thanks very much for that post of images bell0fdesire) is OCHE ME UETP HIT. Does this mean anything?

Has anyone tried looking up the ares that have been exposed on maps using Google Earth? Always thought it might be useful for something one day. :)

Did we ever solve the mysteries with the numbers on the map? Someone or more said they were close to finding a solution.

I will catch up more thoroughly tomorrow (or maybe Saturday - crap!) and will try to fit in again as so much has gone on. So much to analyse.

I just wonder if the Hugh Mcintyre (or Peter Thompson; I can't remember which) clue of "v-message 7" at the end of the document in one of the clues, and the Hugh Mcintye interview, and the not wanting to answer questions about being affiliated with ABC are all pointing to that site for clues.

Or possibly the creators of SaveJoop have been following the game and have deliberately planted the vmessage swf file and the hesitance at the end of the podcast. The fact that it waa a DJDan podcast makes me think that things are pointing to that site as well.

Goodnight.

Nope...I did a google image search and they both have different hairlines, but they DO LOOK ALIKE!

For whomever was wondering what it says underneath the X's in the article with hanso's picture...
it says the exact same thing as the next page... on the left side it says "They told us our son died on the operating table," remarked one of the victims' parents on condition of anonymity. "To find him kept alive...etc" on the right hand side it's also the same text except a line in the middle is deleted and replaced with the text "Hanso is starting wars"

Pieces that Don't Fit

I love all the wild speculation and ideas from "outside" the game that get brought in. But if you stick strictly to what has been provided "in game", it's interesting to look at what we know and what we don't.

We know that the top execs at Hanso are not who they seem. McIntyre an Thompson have been replced by "McIntyre" and "Thompson", and Hanso is missing. Mittelwerk, may be Mittelwerk, but he isn't really a doctor. The Board is an asylum for felons. All very weird.

We know that the "Projects" at Hanso are not what they purport to be. The WWWpdp is an international organ farm. The MFI is an intelligance network for geopolitical intrigue -- wars fill hospitals and increase organ harvests. There are at least two or three "projects" that Hanso doesn't talk about directly on their site -- Accelerated Remote Viewing, Educational Outreach Initiative (DjDan indicates this may be university funding for weapons research, and some other type of psychological or paranormal research in a picture in the last clue.

I think we also know that there is a group or project called Dharma, with which p3rseph1 is affiliated.

One piece that doesn't fit is "d2O" as a clue to organ farms. All of the other clues had something to do with where we were led -- "mouthpiece" for Hugh, inmate asylum for BoD ... so now why a chemistry/physics clue about uranium processing that leads us to African hospital crimes? As far as I have seen, nuclear energy is one of the few avenues for mischief in which Hanso has NOT been implicated. (Thompson's nuclear connection predates his Hanso gig.) I think deuterium is not played out yet.

Or maybe it's just leading us to a Dasani advert.

Blogger Deanna said...

JD! Excellent idea! Anybody know how to successfully write a grant proposal? We can certainly qualify for a psychological experiment. Maybe even the Hanso Foundation would pony up. And we'd definately be interacting with the organization...

Blogger K.C. Farmer said...

The MFI map also focused a bit on HIV/AIDS. Could this be targeting for certain populations that have more desirable organs, i.e. HIV/AIDS-free organs?

Educational Outreach is embedded in a lot of the activities, so I wouldn't say they don't mention it. It may have been an original project that branched off into different areas.

Life extension and organ transplantation would seem to have a logical connection. A longer life could lead to a greater need for organs, or perhaps their self-heralded life extension program isn't all it's cracked up to be.

The heavy water clue may have another meaning we don't quite comprehend yet. Plus, we still have the Sell Out clue from the DJ Dan podcast.

6/02/2006 10:21:00 AM
Blogger K.C. Farmer said...

This is most likely a red herring, but...

The DJ Dan podcast took us through the owelles file at the letyourcompassguideyou.com site. On an earlier podcast DJ Dan mentions Orson Welles as being part of a cover up for a real alien invasion or incident.

This may be related to the "Sell Out" password. The D20 password was found on the hole3 page, so I think there is still a bit we are missing here. Perhaps Orson Welles is one of the clues to this. I'm guessing there is more to the images than what we've noticed so far.

She spends half the year in the Underworld--winter, when her mother won't let things grown--and half the year on Earth, spring and summer, when things grow."

WOW, nice info, Jengod! To see a larger image of our Persephone, go to: http://www.goodart.org/dgrpros.jpg

Also, Speakers latest anagram came out to be MY BIRTHDAY IS JUNE 8. I went and did more digging on orangutans and CANNOT find NOT ONE that lived past 50 years of age. That would mean Joop would have to have been at the most 50 yrs old when they "havasted" him. That would mean they had to have done that in 1950? THAT SMELLS LIKE RAT DUNG TO ME.

Any posibility that has anything to do with the birthday thing with Seaker? Just thought about that. Long shot there, but who knows. I do know DJDan kept flashing Joop in his video, and that Joop was referenced in the Hugh interview...

I wander if maybe we ARE SUPPOSE to be doing more digging into this whole JOOP thing and not just new clues.

O.K., this may be way off, but based on comic book references made by Speaker (Comic Con and Dragoncon, both major Comic conventions - among other things), I looked into whether there is a connection between the DJ Dan podcast clues and comics in general. Orson Welles was the voice of The Shadow on the radio in the 30's. Speaker also mentioned a 3rd issue of a comic book. I checked out the title of the 3rd Issue of DC Comics The Shadow - The Kingdom of the Cobra. That appears to be another reference to India. The DJ Dan podcast also flashed several images of some of the previous clues, like the Buddha and "The Mouth Piece" clue, over and over.

My guess is that Persephone will give us another clue on hole4 at some time that may relate to India and/or Sell Out.

these are kinda random...but...

There are some legitimate articles on organ preservation and the effects of heavy water concentration at the ncbi website - National Center for Biotechnology Information. Improved viability of the tissue.

Distance can be calculated using a compass and tangent...wonder if we used -3.077### from algeria maybe??? I'm not sure how to do it.

Lena: I agree that the dates don't match up. how could they know is birthdate if he wasn't born in captivity? He would have to have been taken when he was ~3 months old in the year 1900 for it to have been in "the 1900's". I think there's more to Joop.

Don't they use some animal tissue for transplant to humans? I know they transplant heart valves from pigs into humans. Maybe there's some kind of "organ farmimg" going on. anyone remember the book "Coma"?

Phew!

Finally got through all those posts. No fun living in the UK. Well plenty of fun really but always missing the action when it happens.

Anyway. Great reading guys and girls. Thanks for all that. Belly0fdesire making things easier for the rest of us as usual. You ARE the man.
To be fair though some great and work done by many others too.

It seems that we have come to a bit of a stalemate when coming to find new clues/passwords on the Hanso site. Someone referenced above that the blast door map had heavy water written on it and so maybe more passwords are there. Thing is though that the passwords are only viable when the makers adapt the site to take them. However if a new password field comes out it would be worth refering to the blast door map if we can't find the password. Or even one of the previously found unused places like Joops hidden box although I would doubt that in my heart.

It seems to me that most of the research being done by all you great guys is finding out about the Hanso Foundation. Doing a GREAT job too. I think this is probably the definitive place to go if you want to know the dirt on those guys. Again great work.

More and more people are coming into this and are getting hooked. Fantastic find j7chico about the connections with hard water and the rest. Glad you had the urge to come join us. And some great contributions from you too.

Anyway (again). It seems to me that this is a great part of the game and that later on we will all appreciate just how much work we put in on this because things will mean so much more. I agree with Thrasher that in terms of getting more out of the Hanso site in terms of extra clues (unless something can come of all this numbers/tangents stuff), thats pretty much it. But there are VAST amounts of info to be dug up on what the Hanso foundation are up to. I think that it is deliberate and that the game was well thought out in that respect.

Sorry for the long post but after reading for sooooooo long I feel like summarising a little.

I would also like to thank thrasher76 for giving me a mention. I'm not sure I have contributed that much so it was humbling (I like the idea of the group though. :) Think tanks rock.). I myself came in late. I have seen all episodes of lost despite being in UK but didn't hear about this until a saw a post on a site dedicated to lost. I can't even remember why I ended up choosing this site to follow (obvious I guess) but the whole thing took me by storm. But as I tend to miss the clues in action I have to evaluate what has been said and I tend to try and pick out important bits or add things that seem to be missed. All based on what others have found.

This isn't even what I was going to post. I will save it for another.

Thanks for reading. Hope it wasn't too meaningless.

I wonder if anyone can confirm a little more about whether or not SaveJoop.com is now in-game and more importantly another site to watch for real clues. I feel that too many pushes in that direction have come from official places.

A previous post
I just wonder if the Hugh Mcintyre (or Peter Thompson; I can't remember which) clue of "v-message 7" at the end of the document in one of the clues, and the Hugh Mcintye interview, and the not wanting to answer questions about being affiliated with ABC are all pointing to that site for clues.

Or possibly the creators of SaveJoop have been following the game and have deliberately planted the vmessage swf file and the hesitance at the end of the podcast. The fact that it waa a DJDan podcast makes me think that things are pointing to that site as well.

Does anyone have any reason to discredit this site as being in-game now?

I am now a little confused as some of my previously posted words don't work. I am sorry if it was a case of I pressed too many times on a previous word that worked and I mistook the previous recording for the new word I input. When I entered the filename q9als2002.gif though it definitely did not come up with access error like it is now. I pushed several times on this and it said the message which mentioned head. (A thought, maybe because people had bombarded the site it wasn't refreshing which could possibly explain why it didn't come up with access error.

anor was a new code that had flashed up though so it seems it may be a clue but I don't have time to think a bout it right now.

Exactly. I thought for certain that it was assumed the man in yellow was Marvin Candle.

They look identical, even the creases match. MC has been a big part of this game for a long time now, even if not as prevalent in the current incarnation of the lost experience. Someone should look back at all the little clues and pictures(such as the ones the old Marvin Candle site gave) that we basically had to collectively shrug off as simply odd red herrings. I swear there was an old pic that resembled the same style of the faceless individuals and the "yellow creature".

As to the second picture with the strange "yellow creature". Has anyone identified what the background is? To me, it reminds me of actual pictures of blood in the bloostream.

Brighteyes: I agree with antecedent. The image is the same on all three pics. I moved my laptap screen on the second pic and it's definitely a piece of the background that you think is a necklace.

I also can't separate the show and TLE. I agree with you, antecedent, the the Kimmell appearance of McIntrye was intended to "throw us off" because there are several ties between the two as you've stated (especially some passwords appearing on the blastdoor map).

Most likely the show LOST and TLE are both ARGs!

Blogger The Truth Tempest said...

Someone mentioned how the game somehow prostrates that the LOST show is just that, a fictional show. Evidence of this is many places, including the McIntyre interview.

Now, it is interesting to think that it was just them throwing us off by saying the two aren't connected; yet, I believe the evidence otherwise is rather convincing.

Regardless of this, it makes perfect sense to me that Marvin Candle would show up in all of this. Marvin Candle is not a character in LOST. Marvin Candle is part of a document that was part of some Dharma Initiative in the 70s. McIntyre admitted that there really was a Dharma Project in the 70s, and thus, it makes sense that the hatches, the orientation tapes, and Marvin Candle are all real things as part of the Lost Experience.

The Lost Experience won't connect to the show, sure, but the -show- is the characters and events. The Island and the Dharma Initiative are all supposedly "real" as part of TLE. Thus, things we learn about those things in the show, can correlate with the Lost Experience reality.

The hatch map is relevant because it is part of the Dharma Initiative, alongside the videotaped orientation videos. The actual "mythology" of LOST as a show is all the things surrounding these "real documents". There really was a Dharma Initiative that had these Orientation films made and the hatches set up. The LOST writers supposedly just used them in their show. The LOST Experience is trying to say that the LOST writers are taking reality and building a show around it. Around real organizations like Hanso and real people like Marvin Candle, a nice guy from the 70s that was in the orientation films.

Thus... separate and yet together. You can't have the Lost Experience without LOST. Alternate reality within alternate reality within corporate publicity and mass advertising.

Wow, he was the original Shredder? Oh my. That is just nerdishly cool on so many levels.

I know many have discussed this, but has anyone considered that DJ Dan is part of the Hanso Foundation?

I mean, it would be using the same principles as the book 1984. The government makes up an enemy that is really just another part of itself. Thus, it can keep tabs on the thoughts and directions of their citizen's minds.

I think the most recent podcast of DJ Dan is a message from Persephone noting what a sell out he is, thus all the documents shown and the, well, repetitions of "sell out". So, not a code or password to anything, but a statement on who DJ Dan really is, as his real colors start to show.

Just consider:

Who is cooler? The hero or the villain?

The villain, of course.

So, perhaps Jeep, Sprite, and any other sponsors that have Hanso Foundation support are hoping to stand out as cool for being part of the machine. Either way, no one can deny what great publicity all of this gets them. It is like forcing their brand names into online watercoolor conversation. Brilliant and almost maniacal is an understatement as far as advertising goes.

Blogger The Truth Tempest said...

In a way, this whole game seems to be making it more clear what a real machine of big business these brand name companies are. They have the power to influence all of us while we are completely relenting, or, wait, actually hungry to hear more from them.

Show me one Lost Experience fan who hasn't been a bit giddy to see if the newest Sprite commercial has any clues in it.

6/03/2006 01:17:00 AM
Blogger The Truth Tempest said...

Yep, Trevor. Glad you understand how the two tie in.

Now, as far as how the game will progress... such as the idea of us "sticking it to the man". em... I don't see that happening. Though this is called a game, an alternate reality game, the term ARG is used as a reference to an advertising strategy. An ARG is equal to someone saying they are going to use the strategy of oversaturating the market with the brand name, such as plastering the name everywhere in a store. It makes people be interested and know about the product.

The product of the ARG is LOST, Lost Experience websites, and endless, endless product placement in the game. Did anyone hear? -Bad Twin-, a novel written by a fictional LOST character, a mediocre thriller at best, was on the New York Times Bestsellers List this week. Tons of people are actually remembering that there is another cola outside of Coke and Pepsi, that being Sprite. Jeep is regaining customer support as it gets the name back out into common thought, nurturing itself for a nice comeback into former glory.

Look at the examples of success, people! I feel like I'm DJ-Dan denouncing "The Man". This is genius. An ARG doesn't just tell about the product and get the word out, an ARG gets people actually -wanting more advertising-. Anything. Any scrap. Instead of accepting advertisements that get our interest, we have great interest and demand advertisements. Advertisements, or as we in the LOST community like to call them, "clues".

I'm not denouncing LOST for this. On the contrary, I am simply stating how insanely powerful they are. If there really was a social "Man", LOST would be it.

You wait. Next week Mittelwerk will be spotted at a Burger King and Persephone will denounce BK's tasty goodness. The game won't end until we collectively stick it to LOST.

Though, who among us wants -that-?
Yet.

Math on the brain = no sleep.

Been thinking about the tangent thing. I think the answer is quite simple and it also explains the DJ Dan podcast clue.

Speaker's clues were Get an Axe and Taming the Tangents.

Taking the capitol cities from the countries in question, draw a line (the tangent). Using the compass from letyourcompassguideyou.com, the degrees are all laid out. (That may be the real clue behind the DJ Dan podcast. I'm also working on another possibility.)

There is a trick to this that I wonder if the producers of the game have taken into account. Drawing a line across an orthogonal map produces a real line that is curved. You'd have to draw the line on a globe, and then transform it to the map.

Another clue is given on the ERI section of THF site. When you click on the axis of the image there, a compass appears. The lines on the grid are also similar to what you'd see if you transformed the tangents on a sphere onto a map. My guess is that when you draw the tangents, you'll get something similar to the ERI image - or maybe something even better.

I don't have a globe or the S/W to work on this myself, but perhaps this sparks someone with the tools for figure it out.

Also, from the ERI grid it looks like it could be more than just finding point on the map. Following the arrows from the axis around the image might produce results. That is, clicking on the icons in a particular order might open up another clue. Just a thought.

Matt:

Your overlay crosses just east of the Straights of Gibraltar, which is close enough to Algiers, Algeria. Perhaps this is the point of origin?

Using the tangent of Algeria, we'd then draw a line through Algiers - keeping in mind that the line may curve due to map transformation.

I guess we need the tangents of all of the locations on the map to work it out. The rest is plug-n-chug.

It's also possible that the ERI image could be enlarged to fit the size of the compass image based on the scale you've used to find the intersection among the three countries in the clue. This may tell us exactly what we need to know, which may put us way up in the subarctic regions based on the ERI image.

Blogger K.C. Farmer said...

Here is another thought.

You'd want to align your tangent lines to the correct compass position. The compass we're using shows 108 degrees as being north. That would appear to be our orientation, and the lines would be drawn accordingly. That puts the end point somewhere in the southern hemisphere.

6/03/2006 06:22:00 AM
Blogger K.C. Farmer said...

Using the ERI as a rough estimate, the end point looks to be out in the direction of Heard Island in the Indian Ocean or just north of it.

Didn't we see an anagram with Herd or Heard as a possible solution?

Good day to you all.

It seems that the sublymonal site wasn't as interesting as I thought.

If really all it does do reference whats already on wiki it doesn't seem much use. HOWEVER. I think if you put in the RIGHT word(s) it will react differently. Example "lymon" does no refer to wikipedia and there is no reference of lymon on wikipedia. Did the code lymon work before the site update? Typing in wikipedia (as has been mentioned) leads to someone saying what sounds like "echo ree why". What does this mean? I will experiment with more words later as I'm at work right now.

On a separate issue.
Once you have been to the miracle - hard water section on the Hanso site I can't get back in without clearing all my cache as the miracle test and link is gone. It sounds from above posts that others have got back in. Does anyone know how to get back there?
In this clue I find the yellow man that comes up (Matt says - What do you guys think about the screenshots I've taken of a peculiar yellow Man in Yellow, as well as a VERY UNUSUAL thing from the latest clue?

http://members.aol.com/mattthepale/maninyellow.jpg

http://members.aol.com/mattthepale/yellowcreature.jpg )#

The pic in first link is Marvin (100% sure about this, the creases in the arm are IDENTICAL). I will link to better camparison later.
The second link from Matt though - the image that looks like a guy in hazmat suit - is weird and I have no clue who or what it is but feel it must mean something. What I did notice though

I was trying to do something similar ... but I think you need to change the colors of the files first. If you use the same blackline drawings, you won't see where the differences are, only the aggregate, right? So try making one red and one blue (for example) and see if anything new pops out. Just a hunch, and one I can't follow up due to technical ineptitude. I hope this helps!
