Clue #50 - Persephone (17) Hole 4 & Mental Health

Persphone's message portal, persephone.thehansofoundation.org was updated with new numbers translating into a new message reading "+1 timeless together". Naturally, check for a hole4 and you'll find that there is a new picture up at hole4.thehansofoundation.org. The file name is u8egnce86.gif.

Also, the Mental Health Appeal page has been updated (click RSS at the bottom of the Hanso site to see the update). There is an "Inquire Today" box which leads to another Persephone hack. The password was found by "Just Willow" and posted in the comments over at Inside the Experience. Here is how it was discovered:

The file names for Hole 2, 3, & 4 are: q9als2002,t9agen75, and u8egnce86. Persephone's message, Timeless Together, was understood to be a clue that we should take away the time or the dates from these sequences and then put the rest together. So, if you take away 2002/75/86 from the file names, you are left with "q9alst9agenu8egnce" and if you change the numbers to letters (9=i and 8=h) you get "qialstiagenuhegnce" which is an anagram for "light sequence again".

By typing that into the box, you'll find a letter related to the Vik Institute and a neat memory game that gives us clues about the "Department of Heuristics and Research Material Applications"....D.H.A.R.M.A.

Play the random Memory Game (it will drive you crazy). I got to 45 and gave up after that...had to get back to work....Wondering why I never got my Apollo bar at 42? CHEERS to "Idaho Girl"! She made it all the way up to 108 in the "Simon" memory game and confirmed for us that...NOTHING HAPPENS! (See the comments for Clue #51)

Thanks to Chad, Evil, Dennis, Rod, Rich, Justin, DH, Dave for being the first to email us this info.
Thanks to Just Willow for the password (and to pharmacopaia & julie for passing it on) and to Idaho Girl for having the discipline to make it to 108

We are definitely due for a big MHA reveal. I've been keeping track of the Storyline of TLE and we've just had MFI and WWDDP reveals, so if they continue in that order MHA is the next major beat.

If you convert the letters in the filenames to numbers, stack them on top of each other and add up each column, then split the 26+ items into parsable digits, and convert back to letters, you get: E H Z G Z C H S L M H, which spells BIG FAT NOTHING. :)

Crossfade, Unfortunately we don't think it would be wise or productive to give over 100 people (around 105 "applicants") access to one blog. So not everyone will get an invitation to post. Of course...everyone is welcome to comment on the contributors' posts (as usual). I was thinking more along the lines of 10 or so contributors. So far, based on what we've seen in individuals through emails & comments, we have narrowed the field down to about 30. It's a very difficult task but we're wrestling with it as best we know how.

Hi all. Big hmm here. Together does suggest now is the time to try and find links betweent he holes, no idea about timeless. Or of course it could just be an anagram or code. The picture itself is interesting too because hole2 was made up of verticle lines and hole4 is made up of horizontal ones. Hole3 was just blury and we know it had a hint in it for something else. So perhaps it is just about using hole2 and 4 together. Unless of course it's reference to the names only in which case what is pic 4 (and 2 for that matter about).

I've already flushed it through my pic-sound program and this one doesn't sound like much (although I've still to turn it around and try other angles). But I'm gonna eat now so will check back in a bit.

I had mentioned this earlier today, but I think I'll bring it up again.

On the richerdeeperbroader.com website (for Verizon) on the quick link "Feel the Music" there is a blank billboard that has faint writing on it. With my eyes I only can make out "hub" "you" and an arrow pointing down.

I feel this might relate to the DJ Dan podcast since there is a Verizon banner on his Podcast Archives page (although is for "The Road Trip).

Can anyone see anything else here?

the verizon banner on the DJDan podcast page has "Atlas" in the sourcecode, I mentioned that on the last podcast thread I know... still can't make anything from it but googling Verizon and Atlas gets old results

I think we need more than just our eyes to see this billboard. I don't know "computer" too well, so maybe someone out there can isolate this and manipulate it so we can make out what it says.

It might be nothing but an old ad that was up there!

red = 8
yellow = 16
green = 23

I have some observations but not much else. The font on the MHA page for "Vik Institute" is different... more childlike. The "Inquire Today" link seems to be formatted differently. On the IGA page the cell pictures are flickering. Maybe it's not new but I haven't noticed it before. When you tab through the links on the page there are three links (non-working at the moment) that I don't recall seeing before. I saw mention of the invisible text box below the picture but not the links. I have to restart my computer now. I have 3 versions of the Hanso Foundation sound running the background that I must stop or I will have to make a mental health appeal.

A google Search for the phone number turns up:

(718) 777-1400

The rest of the text reads:

So, anyway, on to business.

The new Hole4 has nothing necessarily hidden behind it. At least not in layers or frames or anything. It is two flat grey colors.

Despite such forboding statements, not all is lost!

I noticed a while back that the Hole pictures were using specific grey colors. They are by no means random.

In the newest picture, only two colors are used. Two shades of grey, of course.

The color code of main grey is: 666666

I feel it is no coincidence that in each Hole picture, that specific shade of grey 666666 is being used for the content.

What does it mean? I can't be certain. But I believe it means something.

Regardless, the picture sure as heck looks like Henry Gale. I looked at it and in one second thought of him.

Fun, ain't it?

Blogger Prometheus said...

Anyways the images and "Timeless Together" clues have been solved.

starts off in this manner..
"Timeless Together" means:
time-less (take the time/dates out eg; 2002/1975/1986)
together (put the remaining letters/numbers together)
file names..

hole2/q9als2002
hole3/t9agen75
hole4/u8egence86

9a appear at same place on h2+h3
gen appear at same place on h3+h4
take out "9agen"
replace following numbers to letters
8=h
9=i
leaves you with qialstuhegence = A LIGHT SEQUENCE
(A LIGHT SEQUENCE) is a clue that is used when you gain access to the computer located in MHA area.
The password is still unknown and not yet coded.
Credit should go to JustWillow from insidetheexperience.com
I orginally thought the file names anagrammed to LANG TAG SEQUENCE

At least we had already thought of using the filenames together and it wasn't cheating that got this. I still don't know how we can be sure of it although it sounds very plausible. Maybe "a light sequence" is another clue to be solved and not a password at all. Anyway. I will try to give more thought but am at work at the moment. I still think that possibly what we are meant to get from all this is the DJDan podcast (if he is alive and free that is)

thank you lostnuts - the article is a valid one from an official ABC site. It also mentions that it is designed for both Lost fans, and those who have never seen lost. So, even though it is giving us insight/information on the show, it is not required to have seen the show to play the game. I guess that means that they are connected, but making the connections is not required to play the game... almost a "one way street" relationship. -IMHO, just my 2 cents.

6/13/2006 11:04:00 AM
Blogger Dr3dPir8 said...

sean - the Apollo Bar makes an appearance on the series. It is one of the DHARMA "rations" found in the hatch and some of us Lost fans believe it is a huge reference to Greek mythology as Apollo was one of the Greek gods. Especially since he had a twin - Artemis (BTW - Artemis was definitely the "bad twin"). This may play out more in the game later... I personally really hope so.

thrasher - that's a good point about the shark. I'm not sure how they navigate, but I do recall from some Discovery Channel show (or National Geographic?) that sharks do have special sensors for electric pulses. From what I recall, they had a lot of problems when first trying to keep sharks in captivity since they used metal bands on their holding tanks. These metal bands somehow held an electric charge, and the sharks would continuously bang into them. Not sure of the relevance, but maybe could jog some thoughts. (?)

lostnuts - I agree that they are definitely trying to drive up interest in the show (and I'm sure they have). Notice though, that they are making money off the game seperately by bringing sponsors in just for the game - Sprite, Verizon, Monster, Jeep, and more to come I'm sure. I'm guessing Google will be in here somewhere, now that they are a public company, I'm sure they are looking to advertise.

All the other flash sequences end when they take you back to the hanso site. Why should this one be any different?

My thought is that if it didn't end, then the next stop on the "bus" is 108.

*I only made it to 34 before I slipped. It's up to more patient minds than I to finish it.

Nice to see that Dharma and the show are finally being wholeheartedly introduced. I'm curious if we'll see any of the show's actual characters interlaced here.

And frankly, the reveal of what DHARMA stands for is a pretty big day in Lost Fandom. At least, in terms of the mythology.

permi-make sure you are consistent with your use of either www.thehansofoundation.org or http://thehansofoundation.org. Use whichever one you have used since the newsletter clue.

Also, do you think we'll find out anything else from the retrieversoftruth.com site? They had mentioned posting things on Wed., but I don't see anything new over there.

sweets - I think we will see something else from RoT, but I'm guessing that they are basing on U.S. time and will be updating tomorrow. It's still Tues. in the states.

Thanks for the input oo7 and sweetscrapper. I'm still having trouble getting it though. =(

I checked the newsletter page, and I'm still logged in (P's still having her fun drawing all over the page there), so I go to the MHA page, click on either of the two links, then put in 'light sequence again' (no quotes, of course) into the text box, and click next. I get the timeout message, and the window goes away. Is this the proper procedure (aside from the timeout message and the window sliding away, naturally)?
