Clue #60 - Rachel Blake Copenhagen Post 04 & LYCGY Trash

Rachel Blake Update:
Rachel has updated her blog again. She links to an Australian LOST message board and claims to have recorded a conversation between Mittlewerk and a Korean man. She also signed her post "rblake, 105 years." So...if you go to the message board and click "reply" to any message, and then click on the "objectionable comment" link to the right. It takes you to a log-in.

User Name: rblake
Password: 105years

"Peeping on Tom" then becomes a hyperlink - click it to listen to the audio. The translation of the discussion is on Rachel's blog.

LetYourCompassGuideYou Update:
There is a record of a conversation in the trash folder of the directory of the Jeep sponsored LetYourCompassGuideYou.com site. Seems to be giving us insight into the early days of Rachel's quest for truth. (OpenersHep = Persephone = Rachel B) William in the conversation is the William T. Kilpatrick from this contract, which means he is the WTK in this video.

After you read, click HERE...Is this the right path? Are we looking for another username & password for the zip file? Where is that zip file?

Thanks to Evil^^, Jim, Julie, Thrasher76, Gail, Sarah, & BellyOfDesire for emailing this info to us first.

considering Rachel sent us to Channel 7 I don't know why they've gone to savejoop.com.

Either this clue is really hidden well or it hasn't gone up on the channel 7 site when it was supposed to.

Long time lurker, first time poster. Rachel's blog says that the recording is posted somewhere on the web. It does not mention anything specific about the message board except for the link. Maybe the message board is just the jumping off point to everything else LOST related on the au.yahoo page.

leolio -

It's also interesting to me that Apollo is the god most associated with prophets and premonition. He was the one who supposedly spoke through the pythia at Delphi and he gave Cassanda the power of prophecy at Troy. Definately a theme that Lost touches on, what with Walt and all.

The Joop guys would probably just send a sternly worded email anyway. Lol. It's not like they really have anywhere to make a sign waving protest. Unless they want to find that resteraunt.

The Joops site had that recording on it for ages. Sadly. I just don't get why there are links to that message board. The Lost Clue was just a Lost Clue, the Widgets just seem to be widgets and the message board isn't the easiest one to scan through.

leolio :) He was not missing any appendages, that I remember.

You're right on him being the god of healing, I believe. He also liked to curse people who didn't do what he wanted them to do. He made Cassanda a prophet, but when she wouldn't sleep with him, he cursed her so that no one would ever believe her prophecies. I think that he was also involved in Odysseus being lost at sea for 10 years after the Trojan War, because Odysseus' men raped Trojan women in Apollo's temple. Odysseus couldn't get home to his wife - Penelope.

This is probably on the completely wrong course, but...
She signed her post 105years, and linked to a Yahoo message board. Yahoo's standard logo is a Y. On nearly every page on the board I clicked on, there is a link for Yahoo music, which a Y wearing headphones. Yahoo ears? I clicked the link and looked around in it, but didn't see anything that stood out.
I so need to be getting ready for work right now, it's not even funny.

6/22/2006 09:24:00 AM
Blogger RNT said...

I noticed a link to "http://mb2.aue.yahoo.com/" in the comments of the board, followed by "uncompressed/chunked" and then a time that's exactly 15 hours ahead of the time the page was loaded. The URL just leads to a simple "do you yahoo?" with another comment just like the first one. Is that comment normally there?

I tried to take it as a clue, and following the format of "105years", I tried rblake / 15hours as login, but it didn't work. neither did rblake1901/15hours or rblake2111/15hours. Ah well.

Found something odd, maybe it's nothing. When you fail a login to Yahoo you get a second try, but with a distorted letters box. But when I try "rachelblake" as username, it doesn't show the distorted letters box. That could be a sign that that account is special. Looking at the profile shows it's an old account from 2000 though... so it's probably nothing.

To be honest, I have no idea how accurate mine is, but from what my roommate said it seemed to be referring to a port. They said the word Hangu, which means port. He also said that the accents were terrible and it was hard to get all of the words.

Looking above, the word I am missing is most likely "two weeks."

If it is actually a port it could be Busan..one of the largest container ports in the world, or Incheon, next to Seoul. If its anything like what joop is on, keep it far away from Seoul!

I really don't think it is a satelite, but transport and satelite are very similar words...

"Unsong" - transport
"Uiseong" - satelite.

So who knows?

This "delivery service is almost ready" is a key difference. They could be talking about a transport mechanism. Perhaps a method of spreading disease, moving illicit cargo secretly, putting things into orbit, almost anything really.

Are delivery service and transport very close in Korean?

Another huge difference! I certainly hope Rachel comes out to clarify this soon. The differences create at least three paths off this clue. My bet is, she'll post sometime this afternoon that she has located a translator and give the official, in-game translation.

Ok, I want to get this out so I can see what other people make of today's clue. As in exams, I will state my assumptions so you know where I am coming from.

Assume the ITE translation given by matt the pale above is canon, as it comes from the offical ABC blog.

We know Mittlewerk has ordered a ship from Paik Heavy Industries. We know this ship cost a lot of money and cannot be docked at just any port. We know Paik's intended delivery date is in three weeks, but Mittlewerk wants this pushed up by one week.

I assume they are talking about a ship in the nautical sense because of the use of the term dock and Mittlewerks recent research into shipping lanes at Allied Copenhagen Marine Merchants, a Hanso Group company. Had they been talking about a space ship, I don't believe it would have been necessary to point out that it can't dock "just anywhere." Also, I don't think they would have throw in "with all the modifications" because this implies that Mittlewerk ordered something fairly standard but with unusual modifications making it either illegal or cutting-edge. Space ships built for non governmental entities are certainly not fairly standard yet, even after someone won the Ansari X-Prize.

Ok, so Mittlework is getting a modified ship built, and this ship cannot dock just anywhere. The key questions are:

1)What are the modifications?

2)What do these modifications do?

3)Why can't this ship dock just anywhere?

4)Where is Mittlewerk's dock?

5)What does Mittlewerk need this ship in two weeks for?

I believe answering these questions will be one of the main storylines of act two of the game. What happens when the ship gets to Mittlewerk's dock? Act three ladies and gentlemen.

the greatest restrictions for vessels is depth of the channel/port. some vessels have very large drafts and so need a deepwater port (for instance VLCC - very large crude carriers have a 60' draft) only a very few ports - most notibaly Rotterdam can handle deep draft vessels

Fair enough. There are plenty of other concerns than physical size though. Appearance (i.e. you wouldn't dock a stealth ship like the Sea Shadow http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_Shadow at "just any dock"), propulsion (i.e. a vessel utilizing nuclear propulsion cannot dock anywhere it pleases) or the fact that a new technology which is not easily hidden (i.e. You would not dock the USS Eldridge with it's supposed magnetic field generators in New York Harbor).

Now that's not to say that this might not be a deep draft vessel. Imagine a vessel built to interact with the underwater portion of the radio tower mentioned by DJ Dan. Build the upper decks to look like any container vessel, but the decks below waterline are vast and include swimming docks, grasping arms, docking rings, all the bells and whistles.

This could go a LOT of ways from here!

noble: But so are the scandanvaian countries, Norway, Sweden. If you are an enormous corporation with limitless funds to spend on an expensive vessel and you are based in Denmark, why build the ship in Korea? Just because it is closer to the region you'll be operating in? Or because you ahve a business partner there who will keep anything quiet as long as the check clears? Could that "hole" in the Korean satellite image conceal what they are building?

6/22/2006 02:15:00 PM

6/22/2006 02:17:00 PM

No but would the electronics send off an electromagentic signature? If they are looking for electromagnetic anomolies, like the island they are going to have to limit what is on the ship or shield it some how...the docking part has to do with it's size I am sure...or it's legality...

Blogger NobleLawyer said...

I thought the reason to build in Korea in this case was self-explanatory, that is Paik Industries is based out of there. I was just putting in a interesting note that Korea is real-world one of the largest shipbuilders is all.

6/22/2006 02:20:00 PM
Blogger NobleLawyer said...

as far as size, I was just going with one of the simplest explanations when I mentioned draft restrictions. When you don't know what is going on it is sometimes easiest to start with the simplest explanation to reach a solution. It could be that the vessel is just so specialized and peculiar looking that its appearance at a port would draw unwanted attention, so they need a secure port.

then again, Hanso seems to like to do things on a GRAND scale - the Dharma initiative needed an entire island.... that satelite/radio antena thing in one of P's clues was huge too.

shakey: Yes, using electromagnetism for cloaking would be useless, because you would just look for magnetic anomalies. The US Navy has been using this for years to pick up submarines by looking for large ferromagnetic objects. Electromagnetic fields would set these detectors off thousands of miles away. Building a vessel with little susceptibility to electromagnetic interference is viable, but it would I do not believe it would require modifications to the extent that this ship would draw attention. I just don't think there are enough facts given yet to start tracing where this plotline is going.

Perhaps there was valuable cargo that may have been thrown overboard, or they are retracing steps of the black rock for some other reason altogether, remember they ran DHARMA and they should have known where the island is/was and who dropped the food to the them...

So this is the "more later" WTK promised? Wonder if the clue is in his video. The video suggested he was the one that sabotaged DJDans video to call him a sell out. That also makes sense as that was the first podcast listed on the Compas site and of course that is sponsored by Jeep. So what did P tell him and why did it make him think DJDan was involved? He changed his mind recently, but this is dated from before he sabotaged that podcast.

Are you referring to what I'm posting mstk? You can read the docs from Clue #34 on TLEC. The info on William T Kilpatrick and the jeep contracts is on the Peter Thompson page under mail.

tilta - yeah, that's what ui was talking about. sorry if I was sounding accusational. But I jsut want to make sure we have the right facts.

----

I was also talking about the link to the missing organs zip. How did they find it? You could just enter any URL into the admin folder, and you'd get taht same password prompt.

Ack, sorry. I'm biting my tongue. They got the URL frmo teh chat log file, which directy states \admin\my_docs\missing_organs.zip.

But how do we know that that applies to LYCGY?

We can't just say "it's password protected so it has to be it"< beucase everything on /admin is PP'd.

Also, everyone try adding OpenersHep and wtkFleet35 to their AIM buddy list. Maybe one of them might pop online.

Oh, no mstk, I didn't take it that way it just wasn't directed at any person in particular so I was checking.

i tried the file name a bunch of different ways and came up with what's above also by copying and pasting the missing organs file name onto letyourcompassguideyou.com

tilta - ah. So we're not sure it's the right one, but it's our best bet right now.

Dagnabit, I have to leave now. I won't be on until tomorrow norming and my boss/dad will be here so it won't be so easy to sneak in here. I'm sure you'll figure it out as soon as I hop into my car in five minutes. Best of luck, happy hunting! Can't wait to see what else you unearth!

Glad you asked about IRC Pharma. I wondered if I was the only one. Guess it is down.

The letter from William Patrick that rescinds the Jeep contract has a location blacked out. Probably Africa. Africa = Cape Town. Cape Town=Harvesting Organs=MISSING ORGANS.

Hey, guys, this is interesting.

The conversations are from wtkFleet's log, not persephone's. So this didn't come fom Persephone's computer, or her own log. It came from William's computer.

So there are two possibilities:

1) William uploaded it to LYCGY himself, and then trashed it
or
2) Persephone hacked onto Will's computer, stole his log, and uploaded it herself.

#2 seems very unlikely, beucase Persephone probably has her own log.

Therefore it only makes sense that William himself uploaded this conversation and trashed it.

Why, though?
