Rachel Blake Post 7: Post 7 is up over at Rachel Blake's blog. She commends Linmoo for finding Mittlewerk's map but says that "this doesn't seem to make sense!". She says she saw another map on the ground "near the zero degree latitude line" that her camera didn't catch. Also, GidgetGirl is back in the comments and has provided a link to her blog, in an attempt to gain Rachel's trust and convince her that she's "in a position to share things that nobody else knows about The Hanso Foundation". Rachel references the letter from Armand Zander that Persephone posted on one of her hacks. Looks like Rachel's headed for Iceland!
Gary Troup Video: Gary Troup's latest interview (No. 7 of 9) has been found on Myspace. For those you who cannot access MySpace, evil^^ from our comments has uploaded it to Youtube.
Savejoop.com Update: When we tried to visit one of our favorite sites today, we instead saw an announcement that they had reached 10,800 signatures and a message stating that for reason they could not disclose, savejoop.com had to be shutdown. But they gave a link to a MySpace account, where they supplied us with a better explanation that "some people did not find it too funny" and gave a link to www.sitonamonkey.com who was "keeping the cause alive".
Find the post titled "108" and read through the comments. Early on "savejoop" tells that, after reaching their mark and trying to contact Hanso, they started getting ALOT of heat for it and were trying to find a way to show us the documentation. THEN they provided this link and this link, asking for passwords. The passwords were found to be DI 9FFTR731. This gives us a letter from Peter Thompson and a restraining order. Looks like THF means business!
RetrieversofTruth: There's chatter on the message board over at RoT again. Looks like these guys truly are able to be reached through the use of AIM. Have had any conversations with them? Post it in the comments!

Seems so darned convenient though, that the island of interest was one she didn't film. I still think that we weren't supposed to find that island without being given more information, i.e. more info later would have shown this island to have been on the equator. I'm sticking to my "a lazy intern is in big trouble" theory.

boofmcboof: i agree. i really thought that when those islands were found to be in north america, then the more interactive "real" portion of the game would take off. guess not.
idaho: a case in point would be that they assumed no one would decompile flash files.
idaho: that's what seems so funny to me. it's like "work hard to find these clues guys! oops! not that hard! look over here at this smoke and mirrors." The audio on p's site had to be recorded and played backwards, but they assumed we don't know how to use google earth or that no one playing the game is from the area, even though the participants stretch from Canada to New Zealand and back again. I picture the team behind this having a pretty heated meeting on this topic this week.

The system of latitude is based upon the magnetic poles, however, all the maps in the world wouldn't change when the fields changed. That would take years and create mass confusion in transportation. I genuinely believe this is a screwup we're just supposed to accept and move on. no biggie, i'll just keep playing.

Yeah, I'm in agreeance here. If they wanted us to play along, they'd make the clues either easier to follow, dead obvious, or incorporate us somehow. Realworld... in dunno. It's already very realworld, with all the ads and the book and whatever. I dunno. I just feel like we're getting yanked around on this.

my take on the maps is that mittelwerk was having copies made by the cartography association in copenhagen with all the details removed so that paik knew where to drop off his ship, but didn't know any more than they had to. remember, that video of mittlewerk and the maps came out the day after the ship thing.

Hmmmm...more questions than answers I suppose....
My own personal opinion is that it started out OOG, but then with the signatures and the attention it garnered, it became in-game. If this is supposed to be taking place in real-life currently, the Hanso Foundation couldn't just ignore the 10,000 signatures and maintain the suspension of disbelief that they are a real organization.
Also, it's pretty cool.
But I would be posing some questions to the admins here, since we know they were the original registrars of the web site savejoop.com and let the guys over at random t's use it. They still own the site itself (correct me if I am wron here.) So they would have to know about it being in-game now, I would think.

If you have not read the bio info about the team behind TLEC please do, the storiesof the lost, you will learn that they are very religious, which is awesome by the way, knowing a little about it myself I am certain that it is the same person and that these pictures were probably taken at an even tcalled Search or similar to that, perhaps in Colorado?
i just read through the recent comments. this is bad. not only are our trusted administrators decieving us, but we are getting destracted from the actual game. (not that anything is happening right NOW, but still.)

If I am honest - if I had realised savejoop.com was merely loaned I would have thought the thing to be some kind of hoax anyway because surely admin would have wanted in on the act somehow.
Many plugs for savejoop.com came from here. Including the interview from savejoop.com owner. Admin was obviously in contact with these guys.
Seems to me that this is how it all began and now admin has been squeezed out of the hoax because TPTB are now involved. Hence the comments at the beginning here.

Things I have heard in TLEC podcasts have often made me think that admin have inside info.
I find it disappointing as I kind of had the impression that the admin were just a team of really excited individuals who created this blog and it worked well for them. I guess I have just been really naive though.
I guess it doesnt matter though. Its the same but admin get some inside info. A bit like speaker. Maybe admin gets less info though or maybe just in a different capacity.
But why all the deception. Why not be honest about it. Speaker etc were. Unless this was all part of plan and it was meant to be discovered now what was going on.
I still had the impression that admin was getting the squeeze and feel it was a pretty good act if that is what it was. A very cruel deception as well.

What I like about this website is its full of people who really want to play the game, explore the game, rip the game apart, and put all the pieces back together again. The podcasts and our administrators are essentail to the experiance. Whether they are in the game, out of the game, paid to be there, or not without them the game/this site would not have brought us all together. ITE, THE FUSELAGE, and the other message boards are too full of newbies and casual players. TLEC is for serious game play and that is all due to the tireless efforts of the admin. Don't be upset if they're in game. Just enjoy the game.

IMHO, The savejoop people are not in-game, they are however affiliated with this blog. It's pretty clear that Admin knows them, he's in their pictures, he lent them the domain, etc. Maybe he's trying to add a touch of reality, maybe they're just trying to sell more t shirts, I don't know, but I honestly don't believe that Admin thinks these people are really in-game. These people had to know we would find that blog (they led us to it) and they want people to continue to buy in. I don't think the Jimmy Kimmel thing is defnitive at all. Lots of random stuff like that gets mentioned on TV shows and other media outlets all the time. In fact, I found this blog through an article in the LA times discussing TLE. That doesn't mean it was an ABC plant and that this site is officially affiliated.
Also if Admin owns the domain how could he not know more about the shutdown? I mean really? I agree with titlawhirlgil about the nature of the transaction between the two.
Here's one scenario:
Admin mentions here that he expects a Save Joop movement to take off. He registers the domain name thinking maybe it will be useful for later, maybe ABC will want to buy it. He either knows or meets these guys who make the funny graphic tees and they work something out. Some people buy shirts, others denounce it as some fan trying to exploit the game for personal profit. Sales eventually slow down so they keep enhancing the content to keep it fresh and keep it getting mentioned in blogs, adding the petiton for example. Admin, in fact, almost always mentions savejoop.com in his updates. This sends more and more people to the site. As interest wanes for what appears to be just another fansite they decide to up the reality another notch.
I hate to be so cynical, but the foreshadowing has been pretty heavy (Admin talking about what would happen when they got over 10,000 signatures) This blog more than anyother puts a lot of attention on savejoop.com, including advertising for them with big clickable link right on the front page.
I'm not making a judgement one way or another in terms of whether this is a bad thing or a good thing, I geuss that's up to the individual gamer, but if Admin responds and says he thinks this stuff is real, I'm not buying it.

I cannot make my mind up between admin and savejoop.com have plotted this thing right through and it is all out of game (I doubt it). Or savejoop has become involved and admin cant be a part.
It sounds to me like the man/men behind savejoop are either creating all this or they havent really been shut down. Just part of the game. Going by the sitonamonkey comments for 108 the savejoop owner goes on at length about how things have suddenly changed and they can no longer talk to admin as normal. It sounds a bit false to me. TOO in game like (all the strangeness), the story of getting shutdown because of emailing the partitions. Hanso (the real THF fighting back). It sounds too real (and on the right track) for it to be a hoax so it sounds to me like this is going to be a part of the game somehow.
So to re-iterate.
I think it can only be one of these possibilities.

Haven't read the comments but got a call and thought I needed to post. I'm seriously out of town in New Orleans doing Relief work.
I heard there was conflict and people were mad at us. We did a favor for a friend and we'll say more about it...as much as we possibly can...on the podcast.
We can't say more now but I can definitively tell you that I am not "working" for the ARG. I did a BIG favor for some friends. I thought it would be fun and was greatly honored that they would ask for such a favor.
I am terribly sorry if people are offended, confused, or upset with us. That was never our intention and I ask that you forgive us if you can.

um... I looked on the sitonamonkey.com site. Don't the Lost Experience Clues people show up in multiple pictures? They tend to have their faces cut off and such, but they are there.
Is this just an advertising ploy to get more desire for savejoop shirts?

I hate the fact that people are moaning because they changed the island image on the video for the screencap. What do you want them to do? They are trying to make this game realistic, they won't say they slipped up.

The fact that ROT coincides means nothing. There are constant upates at the moment and thus far nothing has PROVEN to me that svejoop.com is in-game.
That being said I relly have no idea of wheher savejoop.com is real or not. (I mean the pictures of letters got from it). I mean going back to the game - who is feeding this info. Rachel, P or someone else. It just doesnt seem right to me. The other clues that we have for the REAL game like verizon stuff and the ROT board and the Rachel updates just dont seem to have any correlation. It doesnt fit. Unless it is leading us to another part of the game but I seriously doubt it (cringe as I think what if?). Why would this just SPRING up?
I am taking this with a pinch of salt at the moment. If the owners of savejoop.com wanted to stage something then these two letters could have easily been falsified.

Oh my goodness! "Tasteless" was the right word but "Accident" would be a better one. I just checked with who I needed to check with and it was an error. The doc was created before William Sr's death and was poorly researched. Nobody knew he was sick. It was meant to be a clever shout out...nothing more. An apology note has already been sent to the family and the doc was removed.
I'm sure someone feels very, very terrible right now for making that mistake and it probably wouldn't bee a good idea to discuss it further.

I am not lying about my whereabouts. I am in New Orleans at a Relief Center and they have 4 computers with internet with a 10 minute time limit so I have to keep checking in and then letting other people have a turn and then coming back.
