Lost Experience Podcast Episode 6 & More...

Whew! It's tough to put together a podcast on a week this busy. We hope our "8 Thoughts in 16 Minutes" sparks some good thinking.

Click HERE to launch iTunes, find our podcast, and subscribe.
Click HERE if you'd rather just listen in your browser or right-click and save the file.

ANNOUNCEMENT: The Research Blog is complete and fully functional. In case you haven't heard us mention it, this is intended to be a place where deeper meanings and implications of these "clues" are summarized and explained. Our Researchers will be working hard to provide understandable abstracts of the most popular and relevant topics.

Lastly, it seems that Rachel Blake may have listened to last week's podcast and enjoyed our "interview" with Persephone. Who knows, maybe she shares P's affinity for Kirk Cameron. Whatever the case may be, THIS ALTERNATE VIDEO popped up on YouTube and we had to share it with you...just for inspiration & laughs.

Okay, both DSLerator AND iobiSeeingYou are on right now...I'm chatting with both...

So far they're not being very forthcoming with any significant information (unless Magic 8 Balls somehow become important later on) but it's good to know that they will be logged on from time to time, as they appear legit.

Or at least I'm convinced that they are, as are a few others (i.e. Matt the Pale.). Thank God I'm not the only one chatting with them, it was good to have others have similar experiences so I didn't feel like I was going nuts. :)

So enjoy chatting with them, AIMers...maybe we can all compare notes on what they reveal to us!

Okay, I'm new to this. I've been reading through the comments and trying to catch up. So, this may actually be something that you have discussed already, or it may also be nothing. In Rachel Blake's video, she's wearing a brown shirt with some letters on it. Do the letters actually spell anything?? I can't tell if the shirt is a logo for something, or if it is just some random letters. It looks to me like the letters say something along the lines of

VAS
LAR
TA

Does this mean anything to anyone else?? The letters for ALVAR are in there...so maybe ALVAR SAT?? Is this nothing?? Also, when the lines come up in the beginning of the video, there are a few letters that appear to flash for a brief second. The letters seem to be S G G H L

Hey guys, you mentioned in your podcast about the importance of the Valenzetti Equation -- don't worry. Vexingmodstwo, Tresbien, and myself are all pretty much focused on the Valenzetti Equation. Whatever we find out from our efforts, I'll be sure you let you know.

Vexingmodstwo has set up an in-character blog with the purpose of getting the Hanso Foundation to release the Valenzetti Equation. Check it out here.

Whatever we find out, I'll post it on the research blog under Valenzetti Equation.

I just checked out that site (http://myspace.com/mandrakewig)
Few things of intrest... The pic of Mandrake IS a photoshop one, similar to the other weird photoshop pics that have surfaced.
Look at his list of Favourite films, television and books, 98% of them are about Castaways on islands and Airports.. very interesting.
There is also a part that says "Who I'd like to meet" with his response being "People who want to know and understand the truth of things."
Two of his friends on his list are Dr. Marvin Candle (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=80646912)
and
Dr. Jack (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=71846860)
Both look to be just fan sites, But Mandrake wigs page is interesting if DSLerator mentioned it.

Aside from having Friends that are 100% surely fansites (Dr. Marvin Candle's page, in fact, claims that he was only in one of the Orientation videos) from the Lost show, I don't know what is significant about this guy. He is the "Doctor" of the RoT group, but wasn't that a fake cover-up group?

Has anyone tried translating his hometown? "Aufwecken des Traums"? In the Retrievers of Truth site, a French Town was translated to be something like "This is all fake" or something.

And check out his Interests. If ever there were a greater list of Lost-like Books, TV shows, or Movies, it'll probably be close to our good friend's interests.

But all of this could have easily been fan-crafted. Kind of the the skeptics when we first discovered Retrievers of Truth.

So what do we have here that we can consider "official"? I'm not saying that we can completely discredit it (look at the people who discredited RoT), but I'm trying to find a hidden part of this site here...

PS: I knew it was ineviteable for MySpace to come into play here.

A few things of interest I noticed on the blast map, none pertaining to Magnus/Black Rock (Save one) but probably to The Lost Experience
This stuff has been mentioned elsewhere but not in our game context:

Black rock reference: "Known final resting place of Magnus Hanso/Blackrock"

The paragraph: "No safe location for Dharmatel servers/hub/cabling or infrastructure" ... We have yet to hear of a Dharmatel company or any other sort of Hanso networking/communication interests ... also a mention of an islandwide E.E.P network (I don't recognize the technology)

A group called "D.I.H.G." is mentioned often on the map and I'm assuming the D is for Dharma or even extended to Dharma Initiative H.G. ...

Some sort of weather research project was initiated on the island at can be heavily affected by magnetic interference (Due to geological composition)

Gene therapy was being used on animals on the island to de-territorialize them (Among other things I'm assuming)

My guess would be Heuristics as the word itself means a particular technique of directing your attention toward discovery ... Ie, meteorlogical study, zoological study, medical study.

6/21/2006 12:33:00 AM
Blogger MSTK said...

But wouldn't that a bit reduntant?

That'd belike saying the CIA Intelligence Group. Central Intelligence Agency Intellence Group.
Why repeat something that is already in the abbreviation of DHARMA?

6/21/2006 12:38:00 AM
Blogger Resin said...

Can't argue with that :)

That might explain "Site of H.G. delegation inspection 12.07.81" ... the only H.G. without D.I. ... I suppose the inspection was done by another section of the Hanso group, other than the Dharma Initiative.

Just in case there are those who don't want any hint of spoilers... ahead there be discussion of an episode that has not aired in the UK

resin, I have thought that the 'Dharmatel' reference on the blastdoor map may just be a nickname given to a possible telecommunications network on the Island. There maybe an actual off-shoot of DHARMA called that, dunno at this stage :D I've also always thought, like maven suggested (actually, thought I had posted it here recently, but things do have a habit of being overlooked), that DI/HG might be DHARMA Initiative/Hanso Group. I think it was Matt The Pale that posted the suggestion earlier that Hanso Group may be the corporate arm of the Hanso Foundation. And I just looked up lostpedia to see what they have about Alvar, and they suggest MDG = Magnetic Discharge Grid. Then again they've also got Alan Dale aka Charles Widmore on the Alvar page... guess there is some resemblence...

Hey guys! This is my first post but I've been following the experience and especially this site and all of your comments since the beginning.
Going back to what someone said above about Dr. Vincent "Wally" Bole being an anagram for Vincent Yellow Lab... I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere but not only is Vincent Walt's dog but the person that gave Vincent to Walt was his stepdad, Brian Porter.
If I'm repeating something someone said then I'm sorry, just noticed the interesting connection with ROT, Vincent and the name Porter! Got this from the Lostpedia here: http://lostpedia.com/wiki/Brian_Porter

I'm afraid I don't exactly catch what you're getting at, a.scott. I think that all was covered back when the RoT site first popped up and the clue was to hunt for the password to the secret RoT site ("porter").

lavenda: True. But, for the sake of surnames, Magnus could just mean "the great". Or possibly yet nother psuedonym for Alvar Hanso. Maybe a relative, even.

mochi, you are right on the "the great" angle, but I'm inclined to think it is something else (expecially since De Groot also means "great" ;) ) now that we have a real Magnus Hanso and the blastdoor map reference isn't using Magnus as a title (well, Rachel's latest seem to indicate that anyway)

It's becoming more apparent to me that the orientation video dates may be forged. While there could have been Two incidents on the island I can't believe they would both be referred to as "the" incident ... which brings up the problem of the blast map stating the incident occured in 1985 and the orientation video (and it's date) suggested before 1980. The writing on the blast door would seem to be more "correct" as is it written by an impartial party. While we have no record of 1970 - 1980, Big changes, plus some arrests, occur directly after 1985 which leads to the projects complete demise.

Lavenda, sorry for double posting some stuff. I thought I was being thourough :) (Sorry Matt!)

resin, now that is something I hadn't considered, a reason for forging the date of the orientation videos. My sister and I were discussing things the other night, theorising where the information for the blastdoor map came from.

MORE SPOILERS (UK and AUS)

I think it's pretty safe to say Inman and Radzinsky are the two authors of the map. A lot of the information could have come from scouting the island, but that note about The Pearl on the right hand side... how did they find out about a Pearl station without finding the station itself? Even though that right hand side of the island (looking at the map) doesn't seem to have been explored as extensively, we wondered whether they came across the notebooks from the Pearl. We came up with a lot of other thoughts, and more questions of course, which would be mostly answered with just a few more tidbits from the show. A bit more backstory would help a lot... maybe that is what this game will provide :) Anyway, if their information was coming from those notebooks (or a notebook) that might indicate why there isn't older information on the map. huge question about how much you rely on the information we are given...

I just looked up Heuristics after realizing that I have no idea what the word means. Apparently, it's like creating an example to find a solution of something. My hypothesis is that Hanso finds out about this Valenzetti Equation, that the world will end. Oh no. They don't want that, of course. So they start this DHARMA Initative to stop this from happening. DHARMA involves the study of Heuristics. Since the end of the world senario is abstract, they don't have anything to go off of. Thus, they create a "mini world" where our Losties are. This gives them a model of the "real" world to figure out how to prevent the end of the world.

The other definition of Heuristics is in the psychologial sence. It basically means the study of how people make descisions when used in the psychologial sence. This also ties in well with Lost, as there are obvious studies of how people make descisions (like the intense note taking in the Pearl hatch).

Of course, it's late, and I could just be going insane.

interrobang,

The only thing I don't understand about this almost globally "accepted" velenzetti end-of-the-world theory is how the rest of the DHARMA acronym applies. I don't understand how heuristics and research on material applications applies to help saving the world. On top of that, why apply all of these very modern, seemingly untested, technologies when the point is to develop a way to keep people safe.

Hey everybody, I have a few questions, and a few comments as I crack open this delicious Budweiser beer, sponsor of the 2006 World Cup.

i finally listened to a podcast tonight! (my first ever, TLE clues popped my cherry), and it was fantastic! One of the most interesting things I heard was the reiteration of the clue that said " starting wars so you don't have to," which I had forgotten about. That really made me think about THF's goals in preventing a nuclear holocaust (i.e. Valenzetti) by starting smaller wars, and putting certain people in power to pre-empt a much larger conflict. Especially given the U.S. irrational response to Iraq, and growing interest in conflicts in Africa, Darfur to be exact, and Iran and N. Korea(who actually have a bomb pointed at California), are threats which are real, and certainly could lead to the realization of Enzo's theory. Sorry to bring up real stuff, but it seems relevant. I think TPTB are definitely using real info to back up their assertions. Given these potential global conflicts, could THF be justified in brainstorming countermeasures? I would hope that someone would have the foresight to prevent the extinction of human mugs.

Next, since I am a newbie to the podcast I am assuming that the Mittlework call was a joke. Please tell me if I am wrong. It was only funny if it was fake. Tell me if I can laugh now.

I love the growing pains references, but no one has brought up Mike Sievers best friend, "Boner," yet. He was the lynchpin of the show, and was the only reason Mike ever got into any trouble.

Sorry if I rambled. I am a ramblin' man.

Live long and prosper,

TG

I have a problem with the "starting wars so you don't have to" line referring to a physical war of some sort. While TLE and Lost seems to be based on "real world" experiences I don't see how the game would inject itself into something so big as world politics. I do agree with you Trevorgladez that it is some sort of "power" war and the Hanso foundation is using agressive positioning to gain what it wants.

I always thought kittens would taste better than puppies ... ;)

Okay, I know this is going to be three clues back, but I am still baffled by the last creepy P message that plays numbers backwords. What type of program do you need in order to extract the audio of the numbers being said? It requires you clean up the background music then play the audio backwards. Macromedia Flash is supposed to be illegal to decompile, yet this game is almost requiring you to do it. I really could give a flying f to "break" this law, but this game is supposed to be so everyone can play. I even downloaded a Flash decompiler but I'm still lost on singling out the audio, cleaning it up and then playing it backwords. So what program could I have used?

I like playing this game but it can truly make me feel like Joop working with technology, trying to figure out ways to get the passwords! Who knows, Joop maybe a computer wiz and programing all the Flash and I'm just the dumb humanoid playing with an expensive electronic toy. If we can save Joop, maybe he can come live with me and teach me how to work with computers.

SAVE JOOP!

The site says the Black Rock disappeared in 1881, the book talks about events in 1882 from the point of view of some years after then. There is no mention of the Black Rock disappearing, though they do say Magnus captained vessels for some time after 1882. So if Magnus was around after the Black Rock disappeared, how did he come to have his final resting place on the Island???

x-hanso: this image you posted is a space-time diagram. the verical axis is time and the horizontal axes represent 2-dimensional space. the origin, marked observer in this diagram, is 0-time, or the present. the diagram is used to depict the way an even is observed at different times (on a glactic scale). Lets say the sun is the red dot at the origin, and the earth is located somewhere else in the present-space plane. at zero-time, lets say the sun explodes. an observer on the earth would be outside of the light cone at zero-time. therefore at that instant we (on earth) would be unaware of the catastrophic explosion. the radius of the cone expands (at the rate of the speed of light) as time continues forward. at some point in time (about 8 minutes in reality) the light cone would reach the point in which it would include the space occupied by earth. at that point, we would observe the explosion of the sun which actually happened 8 minutes ago.

the only reason i know about these things is that i read "a brief history of time" by stephen hawking. he uses these diagrams a lot.

but, i dont see how this could have anything to do with the arg.

maybe hanso foundation is getting its funding from a shipping company alvar hanso's family owned thats why mettelwerk visits the building becuase he's taken over hanso.
also the book mentions sea trading company in portsmouth this is where The Black Rock was built if you look at screenshots of the ship.
maybe hanso's family stumbled upon the hidden island during thier sea capt'n years. one more thing this could connect hanso more with the philly experiment.

Hmm, this still gets me:

-SHIP LN EQUAT < 1900
-XREF
-SHIP IN EQUAT > 2000

Now each line would be a different command, similar to your Command Prompt in Windows (Run->cmd)

LN could stand for a variety of things, but the first thing that came to my head was Logarithm (raising a constant, the base, to a power);

EG.
Log3(81)=4
since
3*3*3*3=81

Since we're onto the topic of maths, we assume that EQUAT is equal to 'equation' (equal to), making the logical assumption of IN EQUAT = inequation (does not equal).

Now we are left with the trickier to define 'XREF'. XREF is not a traditional programming command that I can find, however it is a cross reference program used to check and document variables in a program. More here

Anyway, sorry for that possibly meaningless blab, just thought someone might get something out of it or have a theory based on the picture

I'm having trouble believing that theory, shrodes, simply because of the gaps it leaves open. It's only using half of what's presenting to us. Who knows... We all certainly don't yet. ;)

I'm taking the lines more literally right now and crossreferencing (XREF) the ships (ships, planes, boats, the balloon, etc.) from before or during the 1900s and during or after the year 2000. With so many crashing or shipwrecked vessels, there might be some similarities in there.

Besides, I've been up all night, obsessing over sites that I only now found out are non-canon (according to the Lostpedia, at least), so I guess I should be focusing on something offical.

Good luck all. Still awaiting DJDan's podcast.

Just to clear my mind, here is a summery of yesterday RB post in regards to Magnus, Black Rock, and the computer screen:

The two links to shipping information can be summarize like this:

Magnus Hanso, a sea captain, owned New World Sea Traders. After a period of tumultuous upheaval MH sold NWST to East Ocean Trade Group. In the 1950's Alvar Hanso purchased EOTG and renamed it Allied Copenhagen Marine Merchants. (I personally believe he purchased the fleet to ship his weapons).

We also found out that the ship The Black Rock disappeared in 1881. Though ownership was never found, The Black Rock docked in the area known to be used by New World Sea Traders. Ergo, The Black Rock was probably owned by Magnus Hanso. It was also said that MH continued to sail some of his ships on his own.

(The blast door has a note: Final resting place of Magnus Hanso/The Black Rock. So I personally think either: MH was the captain of TBR and crashed on the island or he was buried there by his ship after he died. Either way, even though the Black Rock was ‘never found’ obviously someone knew where it was and put Magnus there or Magnus was found there)

As for the computer, it is my personal opinion that we don’t have enough information to solve the lines. But I have some theories:

I think the numbers could be the answers to the inquiries: Ship ln equat cross referenced with ship in equat. I don’t have any idea what the words mean, some theories out there are they are logarithms, equat could be equation, equator or equat guinea. There are also some theories that 1900 and 2000 are dates, but I am not convinced. It just seems strange to look for ships at times other then the past century. I also thought 1900 and 2000 could be times, but that is usually shown like this- 19:00 or 20:00. So I am not convinced of that as well.

So to summerize: Something happened that upset Mittlewerk enough to spend SEVEN HOURS in a shipping archival query. I have no answers for what that is even though I have spent WAY TOO MUCH TIME thinking about it.

So I guess, when push comes to shove, I have NOTHING!!! LOL!

does the flower of life refer to the geometric shape?

Perhaps Flower of Life is an allusion to the Epic of Gilgamesh?

Hmmm, from the Tail Section's 'Lost News', 16 April 2006:

"In the dharmic religions (Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism), the wheel of life or dharmachakra is symbolic representation of samsara, the continuous cycle of birth, life, death. Flower of life (look into the EYE of the island = 23) by drawing the hexagram 23 (I-ching) u will get the flower ... THE ULTIMATE SECRET of life will be found on the island."

louie1 -- Gilgamesh is given the Flower of Life by Utnapishtim but he loses it in the river, and it's eaten by a snake.

Sean--

Flower of Life Enterprises and Flower of Life Research LLC are not the same thing, I don't think. Flower of Life Research LLC registered with the AZ Secretary of State in 2002, which knocks it right out of game.

I think that we need to find a way to get this for DJDan http://www.glarkware.com/securestore/c188252p16410078.2.html

The Flowers of life.org address is connected to Shirley McClaine and all of those types and won't load.. out of game

unless Drunvalo Melchizedek is an anagram for something, and I doubt it is, there's little backing that claim that those sites are in-game.

007surge - they seem to be a legit group that takes workshops etc. Hopefully this isn't all (another) wild goose chase?

"Flower of Life Enterprises" is different, I guess, from "Flower of Life Research" in that the former is 'fictional' (oh no, the man behind the curtain!) and deals with life extension, and the latter is real, and enjoys the lotus position and long walks on calm beaches :D

scratch it mochi... I don't think the floweroflife.org is in game. It has registration information from 2000-2001. Unless it has been "assimilated". I removed my comment until we can verify the website.

The Flower of Life is a sacred power symbol which activates energy coding in the mind, helping one to access the light body. It is considered to be a wholly integrated expression of God, or All-That-Is.

Within the geometric Flower of Life symbol can be found all the Platonic Solids. The Platonic Solids are the building blocks of the universe. They form the basis of all organic life, as well as music, language, and consciousness itself.

Because it is a primary energy & language pattern that has a resonance with all things within us and around us, the interlocking circle Flower of Life design has the ability to unlock memories that are buried deep within our being.

The Flower of Life is a perfect metaphor illustrating the connectedness of all life and spirit within the universe. It is considered sanctified among many cultures, both ancient and modern, throughout the world.

The flower of life is the building block of metatron's Cube. The images I've seen of metatron's cube look very similar to the blast door map and maybe the dharma logo. Are they using the flower of life and valenzetti equation together in some way?

I have also seen a pretty standard image for world domination used in one of the multiple images shown on the recent video with flashing images...perhaps they are trying to create their own version of the flower of life...

Hello--

In the letyourcompassguide you file for owelles, the one with the new djdan in it, if you right click on any of the three files, you get a popup box that says

"This system is for the use of authorized users only. Your IP address has been logged"

I don't know if this means anything, but I thought it was weird.

Cool. I suspected we'd see more podcasts in the OWelles folders.

Okay, pressuming Alvar = Joop is a rather obvious red herring, the key info seems to be Flowers of Life Enterprises. That and a list of dead celebrities. http://www.floweroflifeenterprises.com/ is apparently "comming soon", http://www.floweroflife.org/ is a really old site, looks interesting but not what were looking for. Gonna try a few other website variations. Didn't get anything in google.

I did notice the source on the main Hanso site now has a link to Rachels site where it used to have DJDans in it. I guess that may be akin to an official phase 2 signal, or possibly letting us know DjDan is now just a sideshow?
