Clue #68 - Rachel Blake - Italy Post 01/02 & Valenzetti Equation

Rachel Post 01:
Rachel just posted the Login and Password for the richerbroaderdeeper login box on her blog under Italy Post 01. User Name = rblake. Password = allveggie. It takes us to a new video, which is in Quicktime format. We've put the video up at this YouTube link for those who cannot access it in Quicktime format!

Rachel brings her "genes" into the mix with a specific mention her mother. It may or may not be relevant, but she signs off using a phrase that Gerry found more information about on this website or this one.

Rachel updated her post AGAIN! Looks like she wants us to dig up as much information as possible on Enzo Valenzetti, she should check out our Research Blog for more information on him.

Valenzetti Equation:
Searching through the web we've stumbled upon this Valenzetti Equation site that EVERYONE needs check out!

Rachel Post 02:
Rachel updated and gives us a link to some audio of a very interesting discussion between Mittlewerk, Peter Thompson, and a woman. There was a link to http://au.docs.yahoo.com/rachels-cast/ and the login was given as "rblake" and the password "organharvest". Some of those voices sound vaguely familiar...DJDan & Tanya?

Administrative Update
Also, I wanted to let you know about a change to our blog. I'm traveling quite a bit this summer and work has really picked up for William & Daniel (the other blog Admins), so we've invited two new contributors to join the TLEC team. From now on, BellyOfDesire and Thrasher76 will be reading your emails and creating posts for this blog alongside David (Administrator). We're so excited to have them on board!

Thanks to Rick, Linklane and Omniscient for pointing it out in the comments and Gerry for his email. Thanks also to Rich, Karen, Alex, and Christine for emailing. We love emails ABOUT CLUES!!!

"Grabbing the brass ring" is a phrase meaning "to go for the grand prize". So, we can't just go for the prize we need the password.

However it's likely that "brass ring" has something more direct to do with the username and password.

Do we really have ANY leads on where to start?

After a lot of messing about with our combined SPIDER letter all I could get from the alleged text top-right was "public company". Is this a reference to "Flower of Life Enterprises", a public Life Extension treatment centre for THF?

Probably stretching things here, but in the same vein as jazzyshazzy:

DSLerator says in today's post:
"If you have all nine words and they should be in the correct order, you now have to go back to http://richerdeeperbroader.com/ and use the nice words as your path to what you really want... a clue."

note: nice instead of nine words

Then Fiberoptician says:

"There goes trip B's treating everybody like a little kid again. Thanks daddy!"

note: trip -- seems peculiar vernacular

So, "nice trip" and RB's post mentioned by jazzyshazzy "charter tour" and "tourist"

I, dunno, I've tried everything else in various combinations, so now I'm probably looking for too much

7/03/2006 11:13:00 AM
Blogger Marcus_Isn't_Lost ;-) said...

When I was a kid, "grab the brass ring" is a reference that came from riding on the carousel (merry-go-round)... if you got the brass ring you got another ride for free - goes back over 100 years.

So brass ring is equivalent with a prize (we know that) or even a grand prize

maven just made the point that we could add yellow (or other colors) to the letter. there are many places on the letter where words are still left out.. (i.e. the to and from places) maybe the username or password is one of the to or froms... but we dont have any more layers to add to the letter... or maybe there is a clue in the rot post that leads us to another layer of the letter? i'm really not sure.. just a thought...

If the three layer (blood/money/sorrow) files have the info, it's not likely we'll get what we need from a final jpeg form of the layered documents. It's gotta be back at the source manipulation of the three layers. I'm no photoshop expert and don't have the program and I know a lot of people have tried to manipulate it.

Just venting....

Maven... there probably isn't another color since RGB is a type of color (Red Green Blue) and the clues are Blood Money Sorrow which relate to RGB...

There isn't another color, but another layer sounds interesting...

The ALL CAPS in the letter Spider Protocol which i've been explaining to people is a reference to a Spider Protocol - Scalable Processor Independent Design for Electromagnetic Resilience. That makes sense in relation to the island(s) or test sites.

Maybe a possibility of the numbers in the letter meaning something or a specific color only, but this is a TOUGH one unless... I'll think about it more while I'm in the shower. Already had a pilates class, the elliptical and a few other things this morning. TIME 2 clean up ;-)

Few things from the video . .

Jimmy Durante's sign off was a mystery for a long time until he said that it was simply his pet name for his wife . . .

The genes comment has me leaning toward the idea that she is Alvar's granddaughter or something of the sort.

Two things that I think are important for those who have better skills than myself to analyze:

Twice during the video it slows down and her words DO NOT seem to match her mouth . . . can we find out what she is saying there (or is it just the editing to make it look more realistic?) . .

Toward the beginning, when she shows us the pictures of Mittelwerk and the like, there is a line of "static" at the bottom, that looks like it was planted there . . . is it possible that the line includes some morse code or something?

That's it for me . . . sorry for the long post . .

7/03/2006 12:01:00 PM
Blogger omniscient said...

badgerkyle: Alot of her videos do that...I'm not sure why though, but it's probably not significant. Not sure about the other thing...but I doubt it. No clues have been discovered so far that were not at least hinted at in some way.

7/03/2006 12:03:00 PM
Blogger Paco007 said...

badgerkyle - that line of static does look an awful lot like a serial transmission (when viewed on a data analyzer or oscilloscope). I think it would be really tough to decipher that given the resolution, though...

7/03/2006 12:05:00 PM
Blogger BadgerKyle said...

Omniscient - I agree . . . it was just that this time with the audio slowdown, it didn't seem to me to be the usual "bad feed" that they edit in . . it seemed to be planted. . . oh well, I tried! With the line of static, I looked at it again and it looks like its just edited there . . . but I guess I don't understand why they would put the bad feed, especially considering that even the most rudimentary editing softwar/cameras don't have those problems anymore . . .

I mean...there have been a few occasions when people have guessed stuff ahead of time...and then there's the hacking...but for the most part, they are pretty direct about giving us stuff. [Flash of Palm Tree, Rachel's face]
Rachel Blake
[Flash of Rachel looking through binoculars]
Post 001
Sanremo, Italy

R: [Looking through binoculars from balcony] What? This isn't your picture of the Italian Riviera? I'd rather be seaside, soaking up the rays of Mittlewerk and his cronies... but since the break-in in Copenhagen and the disappearance of the Vik Institute's Armand Zander, I've had to change my game plan. This is the closest I can get. That said, you'd be surprised what you can pick up with a pair of high-powered binoculars and a good directional mike.

R: Now this might trip your interest. The gang's all here. [picture of Mittlwerk] Thomas Verner Mittlewerk, [picture of Hugh] Hugh McIntyre, sans mistress, [picture of Peter Thompson] and the Hanso Foundation's chief attorney, Peter Thompson. But they're not alone. [picture of the "gang" at dinner with other men] They've all been joined by several members of the Global Welfare Consortium.

R: Now, based on everything we've seen, the ship via Mr. Paik, the map, the island, the mathematicians in Iceland, the fire, the secret equation they've been working on--my guess is Mittlewerk can only be here for one reason--to meet Enzo Valenzetti. My gut just keeps on telling me that this guy can't be dead! [scoff] But then again, if I'm learning anything, it's that my instincts have lied to me just as much as they've told me the truth. It must be in my genes. Now, so far the name Enzo Valenzetti hasn't so much as come up. All Mittlewerk's done is wine and dine those GWC execs, and there can only be one reason for that. He wants something. But what?

R: So now you see why I'm giving up my beach time. I have to see what's going on. As soon as Mittlewerk trades in those flip-flops for loafers, as soon as he goes to meet Enzo Valenzetti or whatever he's here to do? I'll let you know.

R: I can't tell you how many times growing up my mom told me that she dreamed of coming here... [sigh] Not exactly doing the dream justice, am I?...

R: Goodnight, Mrs. Calabash... wherever you are.

[blackout]

I don't think age has to do with anything. I'm 25 and I knew that. I just grew up with that kind of stuff. I know who the singing nun is, Amos and Andy, and I'm still diverse in the Kevin Smith age.

It all depends on the person. The phrase probably means nothing. Or it was her way of saying goodbye to her mother with out letting out what her real name is, like Jimmy did.

From Wikipedia:

"What Durante's fans didn't know---until after his own death---was that the sign-off was his personal salute to his late first wife, Jeanne Olsen, whom he married June 19, 1921. They stayed married until her death on Valentine's Day in 1943. "Calabash" was a typical Durante mangle of Calabasas, the southern California locale where the couple made their home for the last years of her life."

Anybody think that maybe Rachel could be the child of a Hanso-type from a first marriage that ended in death? Perhaps a more sinister death than the real Mrs. Calabash?

7/03/2006 12:26:00 PM
Blogger JessiePao said...

Thanks for the YouTube posting! Phew.

Hmmm I had been inclined believe R is related to Alvar. But the fact that they're in Enzo's birthplace and her mother talked about taking R there as a kid sorta leads me to believe she's related to Valenzetti. Plus, her gut telling her he's alive... perhaps this is the mystery motivation driving Rachel.

The RoTsters can rot in H-E-Double-Hockey Stick for wasting our time...someone get on AIM and read them the riot act!

I think the Mrs. Calabash quote was thrown in so we could figure out Rachel's mom is dead...

I think Rachel was raised by her mom, never knowing her father, and then around when her mom died she came into some info about who her dad might be. Turns out her works for the Hanso Foundation so she goes to work there to get closer...finds out Foundation is shady and becomes disillusioned by the Foundation AND her long lost dad. Remember, we don't know Rachel's motivations yet...I think they are in part personal. So while she is going to reveal things about the Foundation, keep in mind she may not be 100% reliable or trustworthy since she has a personal vendetta at issue as well.

And who might Rachel's poppa be? Who does she have the most venom for? Who has lied, as Rachel says lying in her genes? Mittelwerk! Juicly plot if the heroine and villain are father and daughter. But is Mittelwerk as much of a villain as Rachel wants to think, or is a child that grew up resenting her absent father making mountains out of molehills?

Who knows, but it makes the narrative more interesting doesn't it?

After looking at the 'static' I'm quite sure it doesn't contain any useful information to us.

I had quicktime spit out R's entire movie as an image series. Frames 1209-1273 contain the "static" (yes, my previous count was incorrect - 64, not 66 frames)

Unfortunately the image quality is so low that I think it's not possible to decipher it as a binary string.

Also, given this mornings' post of the user/pass, I hesitate to think that the ARG actually wants us to go through these kind of hoops...

...kinda wish they did, though.

She definitely updated that due to the awesome work of this crew figuring out the email before we were supposed to . . .even though I had NO hand in it whatsoever . . . congrats to this board!

did i miss something? WHY does she think valenzetti is alive? was there some evidence of this, or did she pull that out of her a$$? if she is just going on a hunch, she sure is putting a lot of emphasis on it for it being just a hunch.
