Clue #82 - Rachel Blake's "Catch Up With the Truth" Post & a Press Release from ABC

Rachel updated her Blog today with a post entitled "Catch Up With the Truth". This is a great way to catch up with all that has transpired in The Lost Experience. We also received a heads up from Matt The Pale about an ABC press release about the content and timing of The Lost Experience. Along with other juicy pieces of information, it seems that there are to be 5 phases to the game instead of 3. Check it out!

Thanks to Celine for being the first to e-mail us with this update.

For some reason this jumped out on my on Rachel's FAQ..."everything I’ve discovered has led me to the conclusion that the scientists of the DHARMA Initiative disappeared over 30 years ago."

We know Rachel's in her early 20s, so does this mean:
a. She is not the child of DeGroot
b. She was born on the island.
c. She is a test tube baby.
d. Other, more reasonable explanation.

and teehee "not that my word would stop you arguing about it."

July 25, 2006

4 8 15 16 23 42

GLOBAL INTERACTIVE PHENOMENON, LOST EXPERIENCE, TO REVEAL MEANING
BEHIND MYSTERIOUS NUMBERS ON INTERNATIONAL HIT TV SHOW “LOST”

Multiple Clues on Several Continents Needed to Solve the Puzzle

As promised, the alternate reality game Lost Experience continues to divulge answers related to mysteries on “Lost.” Currently in phase three of five of the interactive challenge, the meaning behind the numbers 4 8 15 16 23 42, which play a significant role on the television series, will be revealed.

“The reward we’ve always promised from the Lost Experience is information, which is currency to anyone who is a fan of the show or a participant in this game,” said Mike Benson, senior vice president of Marketing for ABC Entertainment. “This additional form of storytelling allows us to engage current and new fans in a genuinely innovative way while delivering the same extraordinary content that ‘Lost’ provides as a television series.”

So far, the Lost Experience has unveiled information regarding the Black Rock, in addition to significance in the title of the DHARMA Initiative. The Lost Experience will continue to the premiere of Season Three, revealing secrets behind the mysterious Alvar Hanso and the Hanso Foundation.

It is not too late to join in on the Lost Experience. Those wishing to participate can do so by viewing a synopsis at http://www.insidethexperience.com/2006/07/fafasd.html which allows new participants the chance to enter into the Experience with ease.

About the Lost Experience
The Lost Experience follows a parallel storyline not featured in the television broadcast and is designed so that both fans of the series and those unfamiliar with the show can participate. The Experience provides insight to unlock some of the island’s secrets for those savvy enough to collect the clues, make the connections and find the answers. Clues first appeared May 2 in the UK, May 3 in the U.S., and May 4 in Australia. Although the Lost Experience is internet-based, participants should not assume that clues and story content will be limited to the online world. Any and every platform has the potential to contain hidden secrets. Given the different broadcast windows around the world, this challenge is designed in a manner that is not dependent on information specific to either Season One or Season Two, allowing those who have not yet seen either season of “Lost” to participate.

About “Lost”
After Oceanic Air flight 815 tore apart in mid-air and crashed on a seemingly deserted Pacific island, its survivors were forced to find inner strength they never knew they had in order to survive. The band of friends, family, enemies and strangers have become reluctant heroes who must work together against the cruel weather and harsh terrain if they want to stay alive. Danger and mystery loom behind every corner on the island, and those they thought could be trusted may turn against them. Even heroes have secrets.

“Lost” stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Mr. Eko, Naveen Andrews as Sayid, Emilie de Ravin as Claire, Matthew Fox as Jack, Jorge Garcia as Hurley, Josh Holloway as Sawyer, Daniel Dae Kim as Jin, Yunjin Kim as Sun, Evangeline Lilly as Kate, Dominic Monaghan as Charlie, Terry O’Quinn as Locke, Harold Perrineau as Michael, Michelle Rodriguez as Ana Lucia and Cynthia Watros as Libby.

“Lost” was created by Jeffrey Lieber and J.J. Abrams & Damon Lindelof. Abrams, Lindelof, Bryan Burk, Jack Bender and Carlton Cuse serve as executive producers. “Lost,” which is filmed entirely on location in Hawaii, is from Touchstone Television.

About ABC
ABC Entertainment offers quality, award-winning programming that includes many of the most widely viewed series, specials and movies. Primetime Entertainment on ABC crosses various programming genres with hit series like “Desperate Housewives,” “Lost,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” “Boston Legal,” “According to Jim,” “George Lopez,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” “Supernanny” and “Wife Swap.” In Late-Night, “Jimmy Kimmel Live” celebrated its third anniversary in January, 2006. ABC Entertainment is part of the ABC Television Network and is managed by Disney-ABC Television Group, a division of The Walt Disney Company.

About Frachel...

I am still sticking with my theory that she knows the Hanso Foundation is real because they cured her of something, and maybe let a friend or relative die at the same time, and this is her personal agenda to take them down.
My theory started when she used the painting of Persopine (Persephone), The painting was done By Rossetti and the woman who posed for the painting was a woman named Jand Burden Morris, She the kind of woman who did not communicate well with others, she loved to talk about others but never herself, as well she was bed ridden before she was twenty years old with tremendous back pain and problems with unknown illnesses, which she through some sort of MIRACLE she overcame and lived quite long.... Here's some info on the upside down man....he's in Melbourne.

The 5m statue of the state's first Lieutenant-Governor, Charles La Trobe, has been installed at the new City Museum in Gordon Reserve as part of the Making Melbourne exhibition at the Old Treasury building.

The plastic and fibreglass work resembles a 19th century bronze statue, except the historic figure is depicted on his head.

La Trobe held office from 1839 to 1854, helping to establish the Royal Botanic Gardens, State Library, Museum of Victoria, National Gallery of Victoria and University of Melbourne.

Artist Charles Robb said the inversion of La Trobe questioned the purpose of public monuments and their meaning in contemporary society.

OT, but here is a story to pass the time:
I once went on a cruise to Bermuda. Once we got into port we had to wait to go through a customs area before we could disembark the ship. Before that all international passengers needed to report to Conference Room C to check their passports. This one guy (called Tom) wasn't in Conference Room C, and they made repeated announcements for him to go there for over an hour. All the while we waited in line to get off the ship...plus we missed our snorkling day trip. Turns out Tom was in the shower, and wasn't aware that THE ENTIRE ship was waiting for him. CATSEYE the ENTIRE ship is waiting for you....get out of the shower and please report to Conference Room C.

colduphere...i'm pretty sure it's just coincidence, but on the statue website christine#2 found, http://www.haha.nu/funny/strange-statues-around-the-world, if you scroll to the bottom where the comments are posted, there is one dated July 24 from Henry Gale. However, the statues he references in his post are somewhat graphic, so I'm thinking it's not our boy.

If you want to get fancy, you can put the link as an HREF in the < a > tag and the description in between, i.e. < a href="URL"> DESCRIPTION < /a>

Agreed!

I seem to recall that Manny and his flicker pictures have only really led us to one clue...the Spider Protocol tri-color memo back in clue 65-67 (which Belly guessed anyway). And the only picture that led us to anything was the truck on the grass=money(green). I'm not really sure if Manny is actually telling us anything with his pictures other than maybe we need to notice the obvious in them rather than where/what they are. JMHO though;)

Well, Manny's photos obviously have something to do with the three major lost markets: Aus, Eng and US. So far TODAY, we've gotten clues from England (the podcast) and the US (Doc Jensen). What if the Cateyes clue is the Aus clue (as has been previously speculated)? That would give us one clue from each market today. My only reservation is, would TPTB really go about uploading pics and updating Manny's site for the sole purpose of saying "here's where the clues are going to come from?" Is it possible that there are glyphs AT the actual statues and we are meant to find them?

Why do you think Manny's pictures lead to the location of the island? I'm still not in the camp that the game will reveal specific information like where the island is or anything about the characters there...only the why of the island, and the reason it is there, but again, just my opinion.

I really like your theory though, I've actually never thought of that. All of the references to hell would fit, but I don't think it goes with what the show writers have stated.

I thought so too. But there was some buzz a few days ago about the test pattern and when it shows up. On the VIEW screen, we know the test patter plays for the blank screens.

I just put about 9 of the clips on the Timeline and viewed them in the view screen. Several of the clips did not play but came up as the test screen until I rearranged them. After I arranged them so I got all of the clips to play, I experimented with changing their order. Once again one or two wouldn't play if I switched them around. Has anyone else had this experience?

It seems to me the whole "island is hell/purgatory" idea, while admittedly having a certain aesthetic appeal, would really mess with the alternate reality of the game if true. i cant see the connection - if the losties are actually dead ... and all of this is some kind of "waking dream" (mandrake anagram) ... where does rachel fit in? especially now that the game characters are making real life appearances - the game/show producers seem to be making an strong effort to "blur" reality with entertainment (which i find fascinating), but it would make it difficult to resolve the whole scenario if the island were not real, the survivors were dead, in purgatory, etc ...

Still, it would explain a lot of things .. everyone on the island has a questionable history of some sort and the shows producers have taken pains to reveal them ... all things that could relate to ones fate in a possible afterlife ... Mandrake Wig Waking Dream and Gary Troup/Purgatory ? - God doesnt know where the island is according to fake Henry ... I dont know, they would have to tie it up really neat in the end if this were the actual resolution, or it would come off very cheesy, like a betrayal of our interest ... kind of an "itwas all a dream" ending, which in my opinion, would suck.

Actually I do not believe in an afterlife per se but it would make for an interesting story, if done right ..

Just some thoughts ... thought I would share.

Unless of course Mr Beardy IS actually Chuck Norris (tell me he doesnt look like him!), in which case the Valenzetti Equation would be an formula for determining when the world would end - by a roundhouse kick to the face.

Evenin' all.

So the suggestion seems to be that this video is about the numbers? That is pretty cool.

I suppose some people will be wondering if revealing this stuff will possibly Ruin some of the mystery, be a bit of a let down, or move the show far away from these elements.

I don't think it will do any of that. The show doesn't have to move away totally from all of this. Knowing about things like the numbers won't ruin the fun because the Losties won't know and that is stil important. Remember the Hitchcock-bomb principle of suspense? As for the mystery, well I think we all saw last season that for every question answered two more turn up. They have to solve some mysteries or else things would get out of control. As for anti-climax. Well whatever people say about the ARG writers we have to assume these major elements were written by the full Lost crew with JJ and everyone on board, so I don't think it'll be a let down.

Btw, is anyone here not a lost fan? I keep seeing talk about the experience appealing to people that haven't seen lost. Okay...um, firstly would anyone that Lost doesn't appeal to be remotely interested in this kind of thing in the first place, and secondly I haven't talked to a singler person involved in this that wasn't a lost NUT! I don't know why they even bother saying that stuff. Lol.

heather: That's what others were saying before only I didn't pay attention. I've got all 11 on now and they only *all* play one after another with no test patterns interrupting when I have them in 1 order. Are they giving the order to us that way?

P.S. You can view your timeline without saving if you look up in the top right corner there are three views, Arrange, Inspect, and View. Arrange is the default. I like inspect because you can play any clip you click on. View is the one that plays the timeline and seems to only play the clips in one order.

my thinking on the middle clips...there are small flashes where the Mr McBerdy is standing for a flash then close up talking or something like that. So I put them together based on that stuff. You are right about no context...it is like listening to my youngest when he was three. Everyone would say, WHAT DID HE JUST SAY? Sad part is, I understood him, I do not understand Mr. McBeardy!! :)

so mother, are we then to assume that the differences in our line up do not affect the play of the video the way we originally suspected?

That is how I see it.

This "catseye stuff" doesn't make sense. Just think about it, someone who doesn't go to any of the big blogs/forums, finds a glyph that seems to be extremely hard to find?!

actually heather, my sequence had been playing fine, but when I just logged in to get my sequence, some of my fragments were in storage. That's never happened to me before. When I put them back in the EXACT way I had them earlier, it leaves holes. Which is so weird because until JUST NOW, I've never had a problem getting ANY sequence to play... i don't know if it's the site telling us how to order the fragments or just another issue with he.com (very likely!).

again, another comment someone else has already made....3 glyphs from Speaker...3 glyphs from Rachel...3 glyphs from nynja...the last three are seemingly from outside individuals, Doc Jensen, Channel 4 and where ever catseye found it. Any thoughts to Catseye writing a blog and posting it there? Anyone found him/her in any message boards or aim or something? he/she/it not on myspace unless old account coming back into service soon.

Wow what a day. Hey everybody. I haven't been able to get on the computer since yesterday morning- by the time the blogger problems were over I was out of pocket. Starting to feel like Team Lena. j/k
Can't believe someone is withholding a glyph. Totally not cool. But Belly, at least you're looking at the bright side- gives us something to do. Unfortunately, it's hard for me to have the same attitude! lol

Wow these comments are in peek time I see.

Firstly Twinkle, thanks, that was indeed the film I was refering too. I said it was embaressing I couldn't remember what it was called, especially as I consider myself a movie buff damn it. Lol.

Megs - Well, it's possible they are doing something like that. I mean it kind of makes sense plot wise as a mechanism to explain background lost stuff to us. But I wouldn't really say it's my current theory. To be honest I am firmly sitting on all fences (despite the pain) until we have some more of that video.

you know

ive been thinking of the name catseye. With us looking for glyphs its kinda funny that a "Catseye" is holding out on us.

if you go with the name heiroglphys which in the show have been egyptian in nature.

cats were prized animals and even worshipped by the egyptians.
in fact
i think rachel is catseye

heres my thoughts feel free to call me a quack.

egyptians had a cat like god named bast who was the goddess of home and sometimes however there are times that bast took the role of a lioness and became war-like. Bast was also the daughter of Ra.
Ra being the sun god.

Alvar hanso = Ra lets say
so with my theory catseye can also mean bast which is the daughter of Alvar and who lately has taken a warlike stance on the hanso foundation but our own sexy lady Rachel

rachel = bast = catseye

your mother: that is what twinkles had brought up as a problem and I had experienced the EXACT same thing you are describing. After you drop it back where you had it, it then goes red with unknown up above...right?
This sequence I have now, no problems at all!

That is what we were trying to find out, could the proper sequence with the current fragments be "shown' to us this way?

heres a bit more again taken from wiki

Bast was also associated with the "eye of Ra," acting as the instrument of the sun god's vengeance. She was depicted as a cat or in human form with the head of a cat, often holding the sacred rattle known as the sistrum.
