Clue # 84 - Fragment Codes "M6XY398" & "3ZGT" & RoT Update

Fragment Codes
Over at The Lost Ninja's Blog our next glyph fragment code has been found. "M6XY398" is of Mr. Beardy saying, "After the Cuban missile crisis, both nations decided to find a solution. The result..." The next code, "3ZGT" was found on a page at The Fuselage . The transcript of this one reads, "The precise location of the facility is known only to myself."

*See Clues 77-80 for more info on glyphs, fragment codes, and hansoexposed.com or check out Matt the Pale's summary of all the found fragment codes at...Matt the Pale's HansoExposed Video Fragment Code List

Retrievers of Truth
The RoT guys updated their page and BroadBandBeatnik is back and was also at Comic Con and has this picture from the show.

Thanks to Lavenda, DazzedElf, Lost Soul, Pilferk and Sid for being the first to e-mail us this update.

I'm proud of myself ... I actually waited until *after* I'd found it to hop on here :)

Currently, there have been codes at comic con, speaker's site, lost ninja's, and the Uk has contributed 1 in their podcast. We've also had one from djdan, and we have a code with no glyph that was never found in the wild, but found in a hack. there was also a glyph at ew.com, which is the first clue I've seen from ew.com during this arg. We still have 55 more fragments to go, I figure eventually we'll be searching the interiors of a a Jeep Compass for our glyphs, but they can take their time with that.

Sean - I think the certainly have a plan. But what puzzels me is that RB said scour the web for them and yet they have been in the real world too. Which is cool. But it is a conflict of what she said. And as far as finding them. They have either been handed to us from one of the 3 major blog operators or just magically apear from mysterious posters like Catseye...this has not been too much fun...the fun part has been putting the pieces together...but big deal! I want to have to use team work and some brains to find these glyph codes...In act one the clues were good and the methods to figure them out were amazing...this seems very ho-hum to me....

thrasher, I totally agree with you. What's the point of having us go through all the trouble of hunting this video piece by piece if they're just going to put it right out there. And I notice we've never had to check pages inside of pages ... you go to the main page, and BAM, either the glyph is there, or there's a direct link to it. At least with some of the other clues, you had to go to the site, find the link that led to it (and it was usually some innocuous link like the one on the Aussie message board for the sound file) and then figure it all out. This ... not fun.

I am losing interest in this phase of the game (plus work is getting in the way!) I'm hoping the 70 fragments will be revealed soon and that phase 4 will be more "interactive".

Blogger Dazzedelf said...

I don't think they thought through how to release 70 glyphs/codes into the wild very well. Rachel said to scour the internet and then like 5 codes were on wrist bands at San Diego comic con. They are also releasing codes but waiting 12 hours to actually post the glyph anywhere. Last night Hansoexposed said 15 codes released, but the 15th glyph wasn't posted by Lost Ninja until 7am this morning..and to date we still haven't discovered the "Catseye" glyph. We have the fragment code yes, but we don't have the glyph that was supposed to accompany it. I also never bothered to listed to the UK podcast that has a fragment code in it, but I'm assuming we have no glyph for that one either. I think ABC is getting it's kicks watching us search for hours on end looking for codes that haven't release yet. And when are we getting the last 2 gary troup interview segments? You would think that put all of them out by now. I've read Bad Twin, it was a decent read, but the book isn't that good that should let the interview take 6 months to fully come out, I mean frankly, the last clip from the interview was kinda boring, and was definately a disappointment to dial up users like myself.

i agree thrash. this whole part of the game should have been more like an internet scavanger hunt. the outcome of the game would be controlled by the players. instead, tptb are guiding us through every last inch. it seems to me that it would be more fun if we had to find the glyphs on our own.

I understand they have to release things gradually or else obsessive people will just find everything, but just feeding these things to us through the sources they've used so far has been pretty basic. They haven't been hard to find and as a result it's just been about people spending more time online refreshing pages to get on the leaderboard rather then actually doing anything clever. It's a fair typical design for online games really, rather then gearing the game to the skilled player with less time they gear it towards the obsessive power gamer that simply has too much time on their hands.

This is getting boring now, yes.

I hope that TPTB are reading these message boards and are taking us, THE FANS, into consideration as they tweak the game...this truly is not much fun. It's not just that the glyphs are being released at a snail's pace, but there's no "clue" to it. As someone said they're practically dropping them in our laps. How about a series of clues leading us to a hidden glyph. Half the time we know it's released, but it's just dumb luck we stumble upon it!

I've really been enjoying the game, but I have to say, this phase is just not good for anyone's enthusiasm.

We get a heads up on hansoexposed that another fragment has been released, so we all start searching through the sites on an absolutely fruitless hunt, thinking that we have clues from Manny or Wally that we need to decipher.

Then 12 hours later, Lost Ninja just happens to be strolling past a glyph posted on a pole? C'mon now. I'm willing to suspend disbelief to a pretty great extent, but Rachel jumped a plane to Australia after Comic Con just to post a flyer???? And the in-game Australian blogger is the one that finds it?

I guess that leaves the 12000 rest of us just sitting back and waiting for Speaker and Lost Ninja to just happen to stumble across a glyph in their Cheerios.

*sigh*

She didn't really say that. She said she had hidden clips everywhere the web, and glyphs would find their way to a trusted few. I think we've now figured out who the trusted few are...but yeah...too easy, and too frustrating if you ask me. Yes Scott, but the problem is real world clues that noone has a chance of finding. I mean it's not as if any clue was given to us about the pole first so that someone could have discovered it themselves. I like the idea of the posters being on or near those stautes, that would be better. But with only 12000 people playing the game and a glyph being able to appear in any random place? They would never get found.

What we need is a proper treasure hunt. With clues pointing to hidden glyphs in US, UK, and Oz.

scott, I think some people were suggesting that geo-caching would be an interesting aspect of the game, but I don't remeber there being a "mass outcry". I enjoyed the way the clues were being posted in the other phases, requiring a bit of detective and team work on our parts ... this is just silly. As someone mentioned above, it's a matter of who has the most free time to check the usually IG sites.

Good morning, all!

In case anyone is interested, I finished the Hatch jigsaw puzzle last night. I'll have some photos tonight that I can share. I couldn't get any good photos of the back because of the glow-in-the-dark, but it's part of the blast door map, featuring the arrow station. I compared the notes that I took to a photo of the map from Lostpedia, and it looks like the puzzle version has extra notations.

****possible spoilers****

Here's what I saw that looked new:

Arrow Station
Primary function
restocking and staging area for DIHG

hub of DIHG
road system or other major route of overland travel?

suspected shutdown date 10-28-84

final destination in case of code 42?

possible terminal for subterranean EFP tunnel network

I'm not sure if all that is new, or if I just didn't see it, but there you go. There's also a long string of numbers like tapdawg found on his puzzle, but I was too tired to keep re-glowing the puzzle enough to write them all down. If anyone wants to see it, I can try again tonight.

I've had a closer look at the exact times fragments were released and found and my theory is this:
First came the wristbands and Rachels appearance at comiccon, so people were introduced/alerted to Phase 3.
Folks figured out the first two fragments (on HE) but it was too late for the wristbands, so between 6 and 12 hours later Speaker and Ninja put them on the web.
Then Rachel gave us one, followed by the one found (?) by the elusive catseye (in France?). No one else found it or shared it, so again Ninja jumped in and gave it to us after having been prompted by a blogger.
The next one came from Speaker c. 7 hrs after release (had it been out there somewhere?)
Then came two from Britain - the EW one was found within minutes, Channel 4 within less than 2 hrs.
The next two from DJ Dan and Rachel herself were found within 5 minutes.
#15 came at 23.51 GMT on the 26th (mid-day in AUS) but still had not been found about 12 hrs later - which is when Ninja stepped in.
My guess is that TPTB put them out there - God knows where - on the web and in the real world and if we haven't figured it out 6-12 hrs later, they spoonfeed them to us. We are just too dumb... or are we? Please listen PTB, if you put them out in the real world you're gonna have to give us a hint or two that a relatively intelligent person can figure out (or our 12,000 strong collective brain at least). Otherwise I might as well go down to the village shop here in the West of Ireland and check cereal packets for fragments, or maybe dog got it tatooed onto her belly last night...? Seriously, it's like going on a scavenger hunt, going in f****** circles, arriving back at base only to be handed the spoils. Here you are! The answer was right here all along but I wasn't gonna give it to you until now!

Well, how many people played I Love Bees? That game had players running around answering payphones at specific coordinates, and a code was not activated until a certain number of phones were answered to make an area "hot". It would be great if Manny's pictures actually led to clues in the real world, I just don't think they want them to!

You know what I think would be a good idea is that ethier rachel gave us the first to frags and those would have a clue to as where to look next (so then the glyphs would actually mean something) or she would still post on her stop hanso blog and give cluse as to where to find it there. Like last night remember we were all looking at vallenzetti equation intensivley b/c speaker had that lag post. I think that is the way to go. Although if we really think about it this is how this would work if this were all real in real life there would be no ellaborate flash hacks and no secret passwords but that is what makes this game fun so thats my two cents.

That's how I originally thought this would play out. All 70 released at once, but very hard to find. Not "click on the speakers image" or "go to DJDan's links page." Some on the web, some in real life in the 3 different countries. Clues that are not found right away could be hinted at by Mandrake Wig, et al...

Hi, ange!

Checked out the posters on Ninja's site. Wow, they really can be anywhere! Gonna keep my eyes peeled. LOL

At least this down time between glyphs gives us time to come up with really interesting theories and speculations as more and more of this story is making sense. Jamaster and I have been working on a Lost Grand Theory. It's a work in progress and we welcome your input.

(P.S.: I really hate to self-promote, but this is really intended as a community project. There's also a message board for comments and discussion.)

It's only a matter of time before we find a glyph in the detail on the site for a luxury leather interior of a Jeep Compass and lime green gylph slurting all over the screen after typing rblake into sublymonal.com.

I'm also quite desperate for the Lost Experience documentary which will probably be a special feature on the Season 2 DVD boxset!! Imagine that, all the Rachel Blake videos and glyp fragments readily available on a handy DVD!

It's odd really. The real world stuff seems to have been a bit badly thought out. Most of the people at the comicon had no idea to look for glyphs because the site had literally only just been launched. They combined a publicity stunt for launching the site (nice as it was to have Rach there live, that was what it essentially was) with the first whole batch of clues for said site. Okay, I get that they didn't want to miss the oppertunity for the clues, and getting Rach there was a must, but they should have launched the site earlier rather then putting the T-Shirt stunt.

Then there is this Poster ninja found. I mean did they just put a poster up at a random location somewhere on THE PLANET EARTH and then when no one found it (duhh) they sent ninja to pick it up. Okay, not the best plan.

The Manny photo's are a good plan, but it seems to have backfired as he apparently picked the three locations in their respective countries where no experience players live. I mean I could hop on a train to Oxford, but I can't really afford the time or the money right now. Maybe by next weekend but I have a feeling they will have given up on that by then.

I mean I suspect there isn't actually anything there anyway. Also I had a vision of a newspaper article saying "man breaks back falling off shark. Was said to be looking for a "Glyph"." yes?

Thanks, Thrasher! That map seems a little more complete than the one at Lostpedia. Looking at it though, I still see some things that were on the puzzle that were not on the map:

****possible spoilers****

Primary function
restocking and staging area for DIHG

hub of DIHG

final destination in case of code 42?

possible terminal for subterranean EFP tunnel network

Also, the numbers were above the other info - judging by your map, they would be off the area shown. I'm guessing that if you get all four puzzles and put them together, you'll get the full map. The image on this one only covers the left side.

The front was cool, but didn't really show anything that we didn't already know about, I don't think.

Might the release of a glyph that Ninja actually found in the real world be a hint that there WILL be more to be found that way?!!? The problem is that you don't always know whats going to happen to a sign that you put up in public (well, that could be a problem in NYC ;-)

Rachel said "THE HANSO SQUAD WILL TRACK ME IF I UPLOAD IT ALL AT ONCE OR TO ONE PLACE... SO I'M HIDING IT - EVERYWHERE ON THE WEB". That only precludes where she she is hiding the video fragments themselves. So, if there are going to be more interesting ways to find and or see the glyphs in cities around the world. Even if you're not in those cities, you could live a li'l vicariously by people in your online community actually FINDING them...

Not exactly like the geo-cache idea that Admin had hoped for, but hopefully TPTB have something more interesting planned for stage III or I'm going to sleep until stage IV and the sponsors be damned [hehehe]

If the rest of the glyphs are being fed to us through various blogs, TV airings and podcasts in various countries or not, then we wouldn't really need Manny's clues just like the Grass/Money clue needed by people outside the TLEC who didn't have people like Dennis to figure it out...

So, is there a possibility that there are more to Manny's photos than just the locations of the major sources of clues via websites (the USA, AUS & the UK)? Will we be more than spoonfed?

When this game started back in may I thought it was going to be revolutionary and change how tv shows would be marketed, but I think that it's been a bit toss really. The beginning was good, even though the clues were very hard everyone got to add their two cents and feel they were part of it. Now the 'clues' are spoonfed to the chosen few and the rest of us just sit around and wait to be told. I am pretty bored and I think that it's getting a bit unbelievable. sorry to rant but you would think that the writers would be able to figure all this out. muh.

I think the problem is that they think that we all will be poring over these clues, but it's fairly obvious that it's not going to be really clear in what order they go til we've recieved most of the glyphs.

I am agreeing with just about everything said...I wish in many ways it were more like before BUT am glad it isn't. The Jim/pams (ME) of the world couldn't play along!!! We could only sit there and wait for you super geniouses to feed it to us. So, this is a little like what you are feeling, that is why! It is our turn to have a chance to be first.
That said, I am disapointed that the glyphs themselves to not lead tot he next glyph...that would have been the best way to play! I spent about 8.5 hours after the first three glyphs desperately looking for the pattern that lead to the next glyph only to have it spoonfed again and NO CONNECTION to the other three! I thought for sure even Jim and Pam working together could figure that out! Thanks a lot to TPTB for not giving us at least that much of a treasure hunt!

The real challenge is in making the HE site work properly! For example....Quit losing my clips! and when I put them in MY order, let them play...do not replace with static! Also, if I put them in the timeline, leave them there and do not keep telling me they are undefined or I will define your.....uh sorry! (Things I shouted at HE not intended to upset anyone else)

see ya later all!

tapdawg: it's not the fact that we're only getting a few seconds of footage per clip it's just the fact that with only 15 fragments we just don't have enough to piece together any theories and speculate what's going on, filling in the gaps until we get it.

So far it seems that Mittelwerk shows everybody the full THF endgame orientation film before going into his briefing about whatever they're doing in Sri Lanka.

But we worked that out within 5 clips.

Until we have at least 25-30 clips we can't start really piecing it together and get excited.

That's where the boredom kicks in...

Yes, when we have a good chunk of fragments to really start peicing things together, watching other people's clips will be a good way to share information, see who's got what and what order things should go in.

Note though that it will only share other player's timelines, not all the clips they have available (for example if you watch mine there's 2 clips together followed by a lng pause then two more clips because I'm working on order even though I have all 15 clips).

Those are my thoughts exactly with two possibilities... They may have put it up with the idea of taking a picture and then doing what Ninja is doing as it's part of a larger plan of getting more people involved, so we are being "schooled" in how to share the clue or maybe as a failsafe they decided to take a pic of the clue and someone already tore it down!!?!

The fragment was released on the system last night in the USA time zones, but who would have put the poster up for Ninja to find... Rachel is criss-crossing the globe now?

But that could literally only be 30 seconds of a 5 minute movie. How do we know most of the movie isn't Rachel and Mittelwerk fistfighting on the roof of a building? Or even in bed together? Anywho, my point is, we can't really start sequencing or theorizing until we have most of the clips.

this might be irrelevant but...
today on my way home i saw a billboard for jeep compass and the prices were in dollars, ye i know duh but see i live in scotland, uk it should have been in £s not $s! also the design was strange vintage kind of (like the style of the poster with the mouth piece clue in it), not the normal sleek designed jeep adverts here. i didn't really get a look at it but this could be a clue but what im not sure about is why they would put one here? this may be nothing i should thought i should share this.
Anyone from dundee, its in stobswells next to the bike shop.
i'll check it out later

lilblonde... you don't have to save a sequence for your frags to stay in storage. In fact, once you've entered them, they should be there when you log in.

The thing I find most interesting now is the content of the video. So far, it seems to fit with the prevailing theories - beardy is Hanso, cold war leads to UN commission leads to Valenzetti, Mittelwerk is training a team to apply or reapply a Hanso protocol. But I'm really curious to see what the Degroots and Dharma have to do with this, and frankly, why it's all so bad. Or specifically, why THF/Mittelwerk is so bad.

On a separate thread of thought... something mentioned earlier today/yesterday about stuff from here in the ARG making it into season 3 started me wondering...

Now, let me make clear, I am just throwing this out there, but do not want to start another spoiler bomb conversation like i accidentally got into yesterday (I swear it was the boredom that blinded me)...

I was thinking that the "Beardy Hanso/Not Hanso Dharma guy" orientation video can easily be discovered/shown early in season 3. Without discussing how Season 2 ended, this makes the most sense to me since this film is from 1975, and one can imagine that it would give our losties a greater understanding of the hatches and their prior inhabitants, etc.

Yes, I realize this is a "Captain Obvious" statement for many of you, but c'mon, it's a slow day! Anyhow, I think this is the easiest connection for the writers to make in season 3, and though the idea of Rachel eventually getting on the island would be neat, I don't think that as likely... but this is just me thinking outloud...

actually e-dude if Mittelwerk hurries up and regresses his age to mid-late twenties he might be a rather dashing guy - got a bit of a rugged native american thing going on.

Do you guys really think this is a bug?

Let me explain...when I placed my clips in sequence that I think is correct I then go to view my sequence to see how it plays together. At certain points in my spliced video it goes to the test (fuzzy) picture instead of what i have there. So, I restarted my browser like so many suggest, and when i return 4 of the clips are in my storage tray and only the ones that played correctly are in the timeline withblanks where the "fuzzy" test shots were.

My order is NOW like this using #1-#15 slots on the timeline...
#1-4HO
#2-748L
#3-OHGE
#4-blank
#5-GMX18BCJ
#6-blank
#7-88CH
#8-7HKBH
#9-blank
#10-blank
#11-3GTVI0M11
#12-RRGYXS
#13-FVH7N
#14-IG3X
#15-VDADOS7YREO

My question is, is this a bug or a helpful hint???

Please tell me I am not the only one experiencing it this way!

Now...I know some of you think it is not really worth trying to figure out the sequence just yet but I refuse to wait until the 60th clip, that would be NUTS!

I'm not sure we will see Rachel on the Lost Island, but I would think there was a higher chance of seeing Mittelwerk. Not only is he arguably a better actor (?!) but also it looks like he intends going to the Island with other scientists and/or mathematicians. I predict that Season 3 will start with the Helgus Antonius being seen off the shore of the Island, with mittelwerk up in the crows nest!

Heather - I thought that was the case too - I was hoping it was since that would be neat. But then I got it to successfully save and play through a couple of different timelines, and from the comments I think others have too. So it's just bugginess, designed to make us buggy!

Blogger CJ said...

Hey everyone, I just scanned the comments to see if anyone said this yet and I couldn't find it, so here I go...

You'll notice that many of the clips start with a very quick, one-frame shot of something else (many of which are a shot of Mr. Beardy's face, either close up or far away, and then other video footage of something else, like the UN security council shot, for example). The key to putting these videos in order is recognzing these quick initial frames to many of the videos. AND, thanks to them, it is clear that the newest video (M6XY398) of Mr. Beardy talking about "After the Cuban Missle Crisis..." follows DIRECTLY after the video clip discussing the cold war between the US and the Soviet Union (XIGZ2Y10S2). The reason we know this for sure is because at the end of the cold war clip, a plane takes off into the sky showing the blue sky in the background; when you start up the clip with Mr. Beardy discussing the cuban missle crisis, the first frame is a single shot of that EXACT sky, hence they are back-to-back clips.

As always, don't hate me if I'm repeating something that is blatantly obvious to everyone. Thanks! :-)

kylelane: the cuban misslie crisis lead the UN to commission the Valenzetti equation. he presented this to the UN, Hanso was in the audience. this has been revealed, so it's not a theory.

CJ-

Don't just scan the blogger...

you can do a word search too and not spend your time composing something unnecessarily wasting your own time if that's a concern.

some people need reminding of certain things as they're not so straightforward for everyone. Some are more word oriented and some are pictorial and thankfully we ALL don't think the same way!!

Yeah, another fragment released, but not necessarily anywhere to be found. I'm off to exercise and will thoroughly check every street corner that i pass in NYC... (maybe it'll be outside my comic shop ;-)

BTW, heather... I had the same thing happen

No matter how I save it, when I come back there are 4 in storage.

Could it have something to do with the fact there are now 4 frags that aren't to do with the orientation (3 of them and the unviewed one so far)...

A real reason or a glitch that 4 always pop back into the storage....

Now I'm Audi
