Clue #85 - Fragment Code "ZY6C"

Fragment code "ZY6C" has been found over at Speakers Blog. Navigate your way to his Week 3 Roundup and click on the infamous "Hole2" image and you'll see the newest glyph. Plug in the code at hansoexposed.com to see the latest fragment which contains screen text reading "DHARMA ORIENTATION".

Um, ok. Is this old or new? I was looking at the Middle Man comic, which led me to Javi's site, and on his links, I went to an official Javi community. Hidden at the bottom is this:

In Round-Up number three, click what's STILL a mystery.

Round up #3 is the one with Hole2, which I'm not sure ever got really solved? Any ideas? I tried just putting the hole2 file name as the glyph, but that doesn't work.

ok, so the eighth moon of jupiter is lysithea (eighth moon of a monkey) interesting info from wiki:

Lysithea did not receive its present name until 1975; before then, it was simply known as Jupiter X. It was sometimes called "Demeter".

well, demeter was persephone's mother. also not the year the name changed, 1975. coincidence? who knows.

anyway, i don't see the conection to hole2 yet. anyone?

The Date August 1980 was the clue. Middle Man comic site..to Javi's blog. In the Archive there was an entry from 1980. It had a riddle that led to thefuselage.com..which had an anagram that spelled javi minions dot com...which had the clue to the roundup about hole2.

You need to add the HREF="" to the tag:

< a href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/5037/3426/1600/zy6c.jpg"> http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/5037/3426/1600/zy6c.jpg < /a>

Or you can just have the link in the HREF part, and something else in the middle:

Ox: I agree. I'm OK if TPTB want to rotate the clues through Speaker, Ninja, and The Other Girl, and then let us solve their puzzles. I like the use of anagrams, and maybe they'll go back to using coded anagrams as well, with hex, binary, etc. Of course if they are lurking the can feel free to mail me a copy of the video on DVD. I promise I won't share....

Eighth moon of the Monkey thrice before.
A voice from the Middle knows much more.

Author of Middleman comic is Javi Grillo-Marxuach which takes you to his blog - look back at the archive and you'll find an odd post from 1980... (I was expecting it to be one from Sept 2003 but his archive doesn't have any from 2003) posted at 8:15am:
http://chaodai.livejournal.com/56306.html?view=1910258

A single post here has the next rhyme.
The numbers will help you. Do you have the time?

Solution to that riddle is:
http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?p=815

You've come this far, don't give up now
Solve this anagram and you won't drown.
JIM VOMITS IN A CONDO

Solution to anagram is:
JAVI MINIONS DOT COM

Hidden at the bottom of http://www.javiminions.com/ is:
In Round-Up number three,
click what's STILL a mystery.

Go back to the speaker's blog and look at roundup for week 3:

Let's look at it this way. It has been one week since we started searching for these glyphs... We have found 17 so far. If we continue on this slope, we can expect to find the last glyph in mid August either during the 3 or 4th week of Act 3 of the 5. This would allow for 3 weeks for Act 4 and 3 weeks for Act 5. Or 6 weeks for Acts 4 and 5.

Well now that I have had time to sit back and relax while reading the 270+ posts here, I only have this to say.

I found the Glyph right off the bat but it had nothing to do with the Javi site or the little riddle at the end of speakers post. I never even saw the little riddle until I started reading the posts here and went to check it out. I actually found it (In what I guess is the third way to find it) from the part at the begining of Speakers post, and from just the CAPITALIZED words in the disclaimer and went rushing off to find it, this is how.

Won't you be my Neighbor and the Land of make believe are both references to Mr. Rogers neighborhood. He said "Now "we" go off to the land..." I thought how do you get to the LOMBelieve, You go through the Troolies Tunnel.... which is a Hole.

Then in the disclaimer... it said "SOME real answers a head",
= Real answer A HEAD.

Then "...in this entry TOO seriously..." the TOO = 2, so now I had HOLE 2.

Then there was this "There are NOOOOOOOO clues in here.
WEEEEEEEELLLLL, except for maybe that ONE!"

The one confused me until I thought about where I was reading this message, in reader mail #12... I thought of the +1 from the P site and put it together...12 or 1+2=3, or TOO =2 plus ONE =1, also is 3. And from all that I got Hole 2 + 1 =3, so I first checked The readermail #3 and found nothing. Then I checked the WEEK # roundup to find the picture of HOLE 2 and you know the rest.

Oh and...

While we are waiting for another clue...
Since it seems the video will tell us more about the island I want to suggest the following island location:
16 23' 42S, 158 4' 0"W
Check it out in Google Earth.
It tallies with the flight path, being 1000 miles of course, and with Rousseaus and Desmonds comments (3 days out of Tahiti / a week from Fiji). It lies between Fiji and Tahiti, about 1500 miles E of Fiji and about 600 miles W of Tahiti.

jessiepao - yep there are no geographical (overwater) features there. But think about it: if TPTB picked a real island then
a) we could say, what's all this bull about the outside world not being able to find it, sure it's on Google, and
b) there'd be plenty fans nuts enough to be wanting to go there to see if the losties are still there or to be cured of whatever illness has befallen them.
So IMHO they had to pick a spot in the ocean that has no actual island. In any case, it's just a theory of mine. I noticed that the coordinates for Fiji are not far off the 18 23 42 pattern, then I mirrored the rest of the code and bingo it fits perfectly. The only problem is, as with other South Pacific locations, that it would have been dark at the time of the crash, not daylight. But as hardy sailors, I'm sure Rousseau and Des knew what they were talking about.

Mr Rogers was a guy who did a kids show here in the US. He died a few years back, but his kids show was very popular during the late 70's all the way through the 80s (it may have gone on further than that, but also could have been reruns too). I grew up in France so I missed most of it, but family members back in the States would send me tapes of the show when I was little. He is often mocked nowadays, but those are just bullies=P Most kids loved the show no matter what they say now LOL!

Anyway, LOM stands for the Land of Make Believe - which was a fantasy area that the show would take you to by way of a model train=) Troolies Tunnel was also a part of the show.

So anyway, all that to say it was an American kids show.

Do you guys think that there is something to the whole leaderboard on HE.com- such as do you think that the people whose names are on there will get some kind of game payoff at somepoint? or do you all think that it is just shoutout of sorts?

7/30/2006 01:59:00 AM
Blogger Fenris said...

Belly - Yeah that's a good point. It no longer matters who first spotted the glyph code in the magazine, it's now who can stay online refreshing hansoexposed until they can enter it. So whoever get's the credit isn't neccisarily skilled at finding codes, they are just skilled at sitting, staring at a PC and hitting the refesh button. Perhaps not even that if they are using a program to monitor site changes. Although the refresh button guys will probably get there first.

To be honest, I can't bring myself to care about the leaderboard. When it comes down to things like, who reads Ninja's blog first it doesn't seem like anything I particularly fancy bragging about. Then again, I've had my shout out, if I hadn't maybe I'd be more after getting on the leaderboard. I can't say 100%, but at the moment I don't think I'd care anyway. I don't really like it being a leaderboard. It would have been better if they just got Rachel or someone to give a proper shoutout to people as they got the clues.

so my theory is they'll release them at times that make sense for the people in the region of each magazine... meaning the UK people would have a better chance of entering their code, because it'll be released, say Monday morning UK time (which could mean before west-coasters go to bed tonight too...). That'd be the nice thing to do at least, since the several of the clues so far were easier for east coasters to find time-wise. But if I'm right, we'll be in bed when the next one is released, then the one from the US mag will be released Monday morning on the east coast probably...

You'd think if there were people monitoring the sites they'd have made it active as soon as it was discovered. Makes sense.

Blogger NiteSea said...

fenris-
If they were doing that, it may mean that the glyphs themselves have meaning as far as what order they will be released in. (or maybe I'm stretching... I just think there has to be some meaning to the glyphs and am struggling to figure out what it could be...)

Morning to anyone who's around!

I don't know about you guys, but I think this game is in serious danger of losing people. The interest seems to be waning as these glyphs are so aggravatingly (is that a word?) dribbled out. It's like water torture. TPTB tried to get alot of new people interested after the Rachel/ComicCon thing and her FAQ post, but I don't think a lot of them are hanging in there. I've never seen the boards, blogs, forums, chat rooms so quiet. I sense a lot of people are just saying: "Let others that have the time/energy/ego/incentive to do the hunting and posting of new frags and I'll just check in from time to time. I just want the whole video done with already." The leaderboard means nothing to me. I could care less about seeing my name on there. I guess it's important to some, but not me. If those 2 LOST magazine glyphs are real, whoever enters them first gets on the leaderboard...what's the point of that? I truly appreciate people "finding" the glyphs and posting info...but TPTB are making sure they will be found. I just don't have the inclination, time, patience, or...most importantly...the desire, to search myself.

Personally, I'm about to leave for a 3 week vacation and I had dreaded missing so much. Now, at this current pace, by the time I get back the video will have been completed and I don't think I'm going to have missed out on much (except for chatting with you guys!)

Another thing I beginning to think: This video might be the end of the game! TPTB are drawing this out as long as they can (since the start of Season 3 was pushed back). I don't think they have anything left after we see the video. It will probably explain a lot of things about the Valenzetti Equation and what Mittelwerk is up to...then what? Are we supposed to stop Mittelwerk from doing what he's planning? The whole point of this game was to find out what THF was up to and exposing them. The video might finally accomplish that. The only question remaining might be Where's Alvar?

I hope I'm wrong about this...and sorry for the long rant.

Yes, experimentalfilm: Another thing I've noticed on various forums ang blogs: Tempers are getting very short. Nastiness, name-calling, ego-tripping are increasing like I've never seen. With all this downtime between releasing frags people either leave the game to actually live their lives or hang around and start picking on eachother. I'm not saying it's everyone...only a small percentage...most of us are continuing to try to make sense of what we've learned and have really good theories and speculations. But I have seen an increase since this glyph thing started!

I agree with Maven and experimantal...This part of the game is deathly slow! I had to take most of this week off from playing, and I feared that I would miss so much, but now I just don't really care. I am content to check the blogs and get the codes, enter them, and be done with it. There isn't anymore discussion on the boards, because there really isn't anything to talk about. Every time a clip is released we can chat about what is in it, but there is less speculation, and theorizing going on. Add to that all of the new players who have missed so much of the game that people playing from the beginning had worked so hard to follow. For me reading through the blogs and answering/ discussing the same questions over and over again (answers that can be found by READING what others have posted and looking at TLEC main page) has become tiresome. I really hope this clip phase isn't the end, and that we pick up the pace with it, and get on with the game. Now I am off to re-order and save my clips....because Hansoexposed.com has pitched them all back to storage, but that is a rant for a different day!

I tend to agree Maven. I am relatively new to the game, having spent most of the first act as a lurker. The whole ComicCon Rachel appearance was cool and represented an opportunity for the game to really take off in popularity. It was exciting and brought some new interest into the game. But the latest development, the 70-piece video, and the way it is being presented, handing us out fragments 1, 2 and sometimes 3 a day, is nothing if not tiresome. You know nothing really significant is going to happen for at least 3 weeks and probably more like a month, when almost all of the frags are assmbled into a coherent whole. And you know too that its going to happen and reveal itself whether you go through the drudgery of keeping up with the clues daily or you wait untill the end, spend an hour or so gathering all the frags, and assembling them, catching up. Theres little motivation to participate, other than a residual excitement from Rachel's ComicCon appearance. The individual frags are almost meaningless ... Anyway, Ill probably stick with it till the end but I am not sure, it is tiresome and time comsuming and lately there has been very little fun about it other than chatting wiht the community playing Trivia ...d

Hi, ange: It's a small comfort that, so far, people do agree with me. And I wholeheartedly agree with your "rant" about people newer to the game posting and asking the same stuff over and over. It's so simple to READ various summaries that are all over the place, and of course, the front page of TLEC. I don't want to feel more superior to the new people, but many of us "old timers" that have been here since day one have put in a lot of time and effort into this thing, are very frustrated in the repititious and uneducated questions posted. I try to be nice, and if I'm around, answer people and direct them to the right place or tell them that: yes, hansoadoptions.com is NOT in game. I still check TLEC religiously all day, but, to tell the truth, at this point, I'm getting tired of it all and don't post nearly as often as I did. Of course, there's not much to talk about lately, either! (Except to complain about there's nothing much to talk about. lol)

squirrel, I live in hope, like yourself.
"three will...three will rock you", well not quite yet.
Anyway, played with Google Earth yesterday and proposed a new (I think) location for the island at
16 23' 42S, 158 4' 0"W
Well today I thought that the opposite point of the globe must be somewhere in Africa (remember, we still don't know how a Beechcraft 18 with a range of 1200 miles could possibly crash somewhere near Fiji unless it refuelled 10 or so times). Well, the opposite point on the globe at 16 23' 42N, 21 56' 00"E is in Chad in what looks like a valley right beside a cliff... Moreover, that spot is precisely within the flight range of the Beechcraft 18...
What d'ye think?

contd.
The spot in Chad is just on the edge of the southern Sahara. Inside the plane was a map in which the word SAHARA was prominently featured.
