This post is just to alleviate the lag from the many comments in Clue #71. There's a lot of good theory discussion going on, and we wouldn't want the discussion to stop because of lag issues.
ok, where were we... DJ Dan makes reference to several of the Lost Island themes, in his latest podcast. Rachel got hacked, but it may not be Rachel.....
I posted this on the previous comments but we all switched so I thought I would bring it over.
Caught up at last. Sorry I wasnt around to answer your question experimentalfilm but I saw someone beat me to an answer.
Thanks for the replies. As I was going through the comments I noticed that many mentioned what I did. But one thing.
It was mentioned but I am thinking maybe important. There definately was another hacker on the THF site. WHO??? I am still thinking that P might not be RB. If this is not the case then I feel the other hacker will come into the game at some point. But someone IMO intended to impersonate P on more than one occasion and the obvious person to me seems to be RB.
And I think it is only fair game that this is discussed as it came up in DJDan podcast. Was that supposed to make us question it.
Of course - as I said in my previous post "they could be messsing with us".
And I forgot to put in the person that DJDan didnt shutdown in the podcast. I, at the time, thought that the next caller was this caller. Thanks for letting me know of the Rose/Bernard link. I think the fact that it wasnt shutdown seems likely to be significant in some way. It is almost as if DJDan is toying with us. Giving us some kind of cryptic clue. He offers many things to throw us off course such as "fruitles" and the fact that he quickly went through and "shutdown" all the calls. He usually picks up one significant one in his podcasts doesnt he?
Just wanted to say that I've been reading and I just REALLY, REALLY appreciate the way you guys are playing this game. I have been sharpened and encouraged by the way everyone has worked together towards a common goal. Everyone has been friendly, accepting of newcomers, inclusive of all different points of view, challenging of suspect ideas, and respectful of one another all along the way.
Do you guys think there's any possibility that Penny Widmore is Rachel's mom? The last we actually saw her it was about 2000/2001 (in LOST time) She could have been in her 40's (do you think?) Therefore, she was about 20 years old when she had Rachel. Penny didn't seem to have been married yet. She became engaged to Desmond (her father put a stop to that) and she was engaged to someone else now (in 2004 LOST time). So Rachel was "out of wedlock" from her past. Now, as the fact that we're assuming that Rachel's mother is dead: We know that Penny isn't dead (as of 2004), but Rachel could have been raised by someone else or was adopted since Penny wasn't married and in her circle that was frowned upon. But, feeling guilty about that, Penny Widmore made sure Rachel got a good job and career at Widmore Corporation. So Rachel's adoptive mother or whomever raised her is the person who is now dead!
All this is just off the top of my head. I'm trying to think how Widmore Corp. is going to play a bigger role in this story, since that's where we seem to be headed.
And the password for stophanso.com needs to be found. Someone mentioned is is hosted same as rachelblake.com and another one (I forget). Sounds to me to be official I think.
Admin: The way we we see it is that Speaker and Lost Ninja had no idea either. The fact that Lost Ninja updated his blog (at the time) to say that it was just his opinion of RB=P shows IMO that he couldnt say he was sure either. It seems to me that they have now just jumped on the bandwagon because Rachel mentioned it ONCE. Despite all our goings on the fact she mentioned it once (and reluctantly it seemed to me) only suggests something fishy. It coming up again in the DJDan podcast makes me think fishy even more. (unless as I said they ARE just messing with us or the DJDan podcast is pre-recorded so has no connection to our comments on the subject but if that was the case it would suggest in itself that we would have issues believing this which would still make it a deliberate act making us argue over P=RB for either reason put above so I dont believe this one and the fact that we have all been complaing recently makes me think that it would be too bold of them to "mess with us" right now. Could be wrong about that though.
Unless of course I have missed something and Lost Ninja and Speaker HAVE given us a solid lead or confirmation of this. If so then sorry.
Just to throw it into the discussion, now that we have a solid tie to Widmore, Bad Twin (though I still can't figure why TPTB had such a problem with this book and Hanso bashing) mentions that Alvar Hanso sat on the Widmore board, but that his position was taken over by Mittlewerk. This being a work of fiction, possibly nothing to think twice about, BUT something got Hanso to take out all of those ads against Bad Twin. Just thought I'd give it a mention as it's an in-game way that Hanso and Widmore are tied together..also the book mentions Widmore having environmental violations in obscure corners of the Earth (obscure like where a huge boat that doesn't exhist might go?). That's my two cents...
I'm not doubting you lhorse, but I don't have a copy of that ep to check and lostpedia doesn't mention Des Moines... but as soon as "diner" is mentioned we do all think of Kate's mum... is there anything to pin the diner to Des Moines? What significance can we read into that? Just maybe the connecting theme of this is mothers... we all seem to be on that anyway... is Rachel's situation similar to Kate's?
chopsshaw, I know it's been discussed that some people think this site is OOG, and some people are not sure, but that second link kind of screams fake ... "form the desk of Alvar Hanso"? Why would a man as powerful as Alvar Hanso have letterhead that is gramatically incorrect? I would say don't waste your time on this site.
Yes it was you lhorse007 that mentioned the IP addresses of those sites being the same. So how was that site discovered? Has it been referenced in game yet? If not then maybe no passwords will work until it is meant to go live.
Although "allveggie" was obscure it did have relevance as a passowrd. Mittelwerk was a vegeterian (vegan maybe I cant remember). I still cant help but feel that we were supposed to get that before Rachel posted the info. It seemed like a really hard one to come up with though despite the relevance. If anyone can reverse engineer that last password so that we could understand how it was supposed to be figured out then maybe we could get this one before Rachel posts. I may be way off here in that there is no way we could have got the allveggie pasword without Rachel and even if hansoexposed.com is ready to go live yet but just in case.
this might sound crazy, but could namaste show up as a password. it was shoved down our throats since day 1, constantly. maybe it will end up being important.
there was also the LYCGY admin folder that had a login and password like this that we didn't crack until given the information about a week later (unless I am blurring all the compass stuff together). To me it doesn't feel the time is right for Hanso Exposed, at the moment we just have confussion... I feel like we need more connected before we are ready to have a dedicated site for the expose.
I read 'Bad Twin'. In the book Arthur Widmore said that AH was a gentleman. Everyone on the Widmore Board except Cliff Widmore believed TWM was dangerous. If you consider the theory that TWM has something to do with AH's disappearance and not in a good way. It's possible TWM pushed the ads against 'Bad Twin' because he couldn't even handle a work of fiction saying something against him. I think in the Gary Troup interviews he eludes to the fact that some things aren't entirely fiction as well.
noiq: All fair comment. I agree. You mentioned script shock solutions. If anything were to come of this then that is exactly what it would be. I am still on the fence myself I was just arguing the case but I just cannot be sure at the moment.
hey guys, Christine #2 here, Didnt persephone tell us at one point we have seen hanso before... perhaps in one of the episodes? So maybe in the episode that was referred to in the dj dan podcast "what kate did" could it be possible that alvar hanso was there during the episode?
Oh - and I forgot to mention. Thanks marcusallencooper for the info on what DJDan said at the end of the podcast about wheres walt actually being wheres whoa. I lostened again and I agree.
I agree that allveggie was not completely random, in that TM is a vegetarian/vegan, but that could mean that any words remotely connected could be used. for instance, Peter Thompson - cancersurvivor; alvar hanso - missing person blood disorder, blood transfusion, I like blood somehow having something to to with the password since Alvar's blood disorder, and TW's blood replacement
At first I too thought is was Where's Walt, but in listening again it's not. DJ Dan just got "spooked" by the Alvar cutout that Tanya was going to take to Starbucks and he did say: Where's Whoa......
I've been trying quite a few u/n and p/w and getting nowhere on hansoexposed.com Rachel will probably let us know it tomorrow when she hopefully posts again. It could be anything.
Noblelawyer; I've been trying words associated with Mittlewerk since the last two were. It would make sense to use one that is associated with him on a Hanso Exposed site since he seems to be the center of everything. Nothing yet.
a few people are chatting on frappr if anyone wants to join and keep from having to F5 all night. :)
PS - I have found that if you really want to chat, click the box to get the large chat window and then close the browser window with the map. then is zips right along.
Hi, Christine #2: I'm in the San Fernando Valley (Northridge) in beautiful California! I know the other Christine is here in So. Calif., too.(Isn't there a new sitcom starring Julia Louis Dreyfus with this same situation - "The New Adventures of Old Christine")
Well sad to leave you all at this point. But I have to go to bed.
Thanks maven for elaborating on the QUOTE"At first I too thought is was Where's Walt, but in listening again it's not. DJ Dan just got "spooked" by the Alvar cutout that Tanya was going to take to Starbucks and he did say: Where's Whoa...... " thing.
I realised that it is the obvious thing that happened when I read MarcusACs comments on it. And just so you know. Reading through the comments lately (last week at least) you have posted a lot (as have many others - dont get me wrong) and I love the way you try to keep abreast of everything. You are great at keeping people on track and your opinions are most valuable and always open minded. Thanks for making a difference.
Anyways. Goodnight all. And hope you get something new.
And sorry for the possible mix up. That last post was meant to be aimed at maven (not marcusallencooper as may have been implied by the post - but I like your posts too (really).
well no new clues tonight and I am tired of beating my head against the monitor trying to figure out hansoexposed passwords, so I am going to call it a night, and leave it for sharper minds (or for RB or ROT reveal - whichever comes first - my money is on ya'll ;)
p.s. i think we should rename the site to Boston Terriers of truth....... they are alot cuter. ok I'm being silly but why dont we try to post things about mittleverk that we know, and maybe we can figure out a password if we all work together.
lmao, oh well, but it claims they are a real band, so somewhere out there, the is a song in which Rachel quotes, that has a name, which could be the password. also ahs anyone looked into the fact that she used to work for widmore corp? her severance package???? did she help Troup with his book? what got her fired?
but lost pedia says that geronimo jackson is a real band according to the produceers, they referr to it as an "obscure 70's band" I am going to delete my previous posts about the cafe site.
well guys, there has to be a clue somewhere! she never gives us something without there being a clue in in, the djdan podcast, her post......there must be something we missed!
Does anyone wonder why someone as young as Rachel (probably just a couple of year out of college) gets a "severence pay" from Widmore Corp? According to wiki, it's usually sick or vacation pay owed to someone who retires or is laid off. How much could she have accrued over a few years of working? This comes back to a crazy theory I had today.
Thinking about the severence pay thing today -- may her mom, Penny, made sure she got a nice payment because she was guilty about abandoning her. I'm sure this is full of hold a mile wide!
Hey there...just checking in. Saw the query re: severance. Yes, you get severance when you're laid off. Some companies are more generous than others. Especially if they are trying to get rid of a group of people and they don't want a lot of folks complaining. High tech companies are notorious for paying exceptionally well (even after the high tech bubble burst) and a six month package for someone who's been at a company for a few years is not unreasonable. I know at the company I worked at previously there were a few folks we wanted to get rid of...they weren't great team players etc...so we "restructured" the department and got rid of them. They all got six months plus a week for every year of service plus their vacation. If RB had worked at Widmore for a couple of years at a salary of say $75K, she would have had some change to bribe with.
word verification: usprkxk...sounds like i have a hairball
I had an off the wall idea while I was at the gym...
What if those shout outs are going to be user names or passwords for the HansoExposed site? Some folks were really surprised but I noticed every name as very active participants in this ARG.
... I said it was off the wall.
If I remember correctly there was a lot of debate about whether or not the Geronimo Jackson site was in game. I can't remember if anyone ever checked the IP address before it disappeared. If there is a cached version perhaps someone can check it still?
Just shooting from the hip here, and it probably doesn't mean anything, and I more than likely own't come back to check the responses to this, but feel free to speculate all you like: Does anyone else think the words in all UPPERCASE in Rachel's last post mean something? It just seemed to me that there were an excessive amout of uppercase words in there... But, like I said, I could be very wrong. Have fun guys.
One way to get into the whereisalvarhanso site is through the http://www.whereisalvarhanso.com/Images/letter.jpg link chopsshaw posted (how he/she got there I don't know). Delete the "letter.jpg" and you are in the "Index of /Images", then delete "Images/" and you are in the parent directory and the actual "Have you seen Alvar Hanso?" page. Don't know if there is more but according to the file directroy, that's all there is. The source code contains a message ""Alvar Hanso was a friend, please help." Chopsshaw also pointed out that the italicized letters in letter.jpg spell "help". Actually the word 'apologize' also contains an italicized 'e' albeit in the same font size unlike the other italicized letters. So: e help The Dear [blacked-out name] appears to consist of 8 letters including the character q. Any ideas?
Apologies, my mistake, I mixed it up with the www.HansoExposed.com that is hosted on the same server as other in-game sites. Just checked again, to be sure. whereisalvarhanso site is registered to OrgName: iPowerWeb Inc. 919 East Jefferson Street Phoenix AZ. Sorry.
Just thinking back over DJDans broadcast: First caller: "... we are sparsely populated" Only caller not to be shut down: "...unpopulated" Rachel's post: "This place feels like a ghost town." See the connection? Could this be a clue to the un/pw?
Morning All! David I like your theory, a lot!!! It kind of sounds like a Utopian Society that lostluvr29, Crossfade and some others have had in the works but never seemed to make it fit in the current situation...maybe now is a good time to add it to the Research Blog
Sorry, it is 007Surge and some others adding to the Utopian Society discussion...anyone here from the research team? What do you think? Should I make a post about it on the research blog?
Morning everyone! Just checking in...can't stay. How come there hasn't been any kudos or further discussion related to JESSIEPAO's Lotus-related ideas? Has that been mentioned before and so everyone just let it go? I think it plays into the whole utopian-society-post-Valenzetti-event idea very nicely. It also ties in neatly the connections to Hindu religious ideas.
Jessiepao...thanks for adding that. I liked it and will be pondering it more.
Well that utopian society could go on after nuclear Armageddon. My post on the Resaerch blog certainly indicates THF could help a small group survive on a secluded island. that would explain the Lost TV show's Others obsession with "The Good Ones". Anyone working on a research post on utopian societies. It's been tried before.
hope your back feels better soon thrasher, I understand, as I have a bad back too.......ugh, typing is difficult, still to early, particularly to be typing in 8 letter verification words!
sean: it all gets too messy when tying the show to the arg due to the 2004/2006 thing. perhaps thf is working towards a utopian society on the island with no knowledge (yet) that the losties and dharma are still there. maybe dharma was cancelled but never really stopped. ever see office space? it's like milton was laid off but no one ever told him.
Jumping on the Jessiepao bandwagon for the moment.
If LOTUS were a new password, do we have a box requiring a password right now? There's a new login box on hansoexposed.com but I couldn't get Lotus to work there in any fashion.
sean: hmmmm. yes that does throw a wrench in the works. perhaps contracted that out (to widmore?) and it never got cancelled. i think at this point i'm really stretching and i should probably back off this theory for now. it would be an awfully sloppy accounting department not to notice the cargo bills keep coming to drop things at this island THF hasn't used in some time. perhaps this can all be explained away by underpants gnomes:
That should take you to the old Hanso site. I'm not sure if all of the clues still work, but if not, you can find links to everything on the clues site.
And don't be afraid - everyone here is very nice! :)
jdgdtt: Welcome to the game! It must seem so overwhelming to you. The link mentioned is on the side of the main page. "Old Hanso Site". Another way to get into this obsession is to scroll down to the beginning of this blog and work your way up. At least you can see what's happened so far and eventually catch up. Good luck, and ask any questions....
Still nothing new yet, but a lot of great ideas out there. I, too, like jessiepaio's lotus idea. I always thought that THF guys were trying to protect themselves from the VE's eventual apocalypse and were trying to extend their life so that they can outlive the aftermath and create their own world.
Sorry about your back, Thrasher. Hopefully, rest will be all it needs!
littletiger1 - I have also been fascinated with the phenomenon of pole switching for some time, prior to the show, but hadn't put that connection together. I like it.
Random thoughts: I like Jessiepao's thoughts on LOTUS. Also, Haggard's book, THE HOLY FLOWER, is about an immortal gorilla. Haggard's Alan Quartermain books take place in Africa.
Then again, Mandrake Wig's pic of a ship, Vapor de la Carrera, is out of Argentina.
Good Morning! After everyone left last night I tried out my off the wall idea. A combination of user names and passwords using the "shout outs" didn't pan out... I didn't think it would but I tried. :)
I like the Lotus Flower idea, it definitely fits the theme.
I wondered if there was anything to all the capitalized words as well. I thought perhaps there could be another message hidden among the emphasis. I pulled all of the words last night and then got tired. Here's what I have
HACKED I'M NOT SURE GOOD REAL EVIDENCE HAD WHO REALLY RESPECT KNOW TON FORGIVE ME TEAM THOUSANDS OF DEAR FRIENDS SILENCE TRUST ARRIVED
Then there are the italized words... deserve and right.
I know we don't think the Penny Widmore blog is real but she posted again yesterday claiming that the new post wasn't Rachel which was a popular idea for awhile.
Anyway, I have to get ready for work. I was late yesterday, LOL.
Yes, oxillini: I have referenced crossfade and your great work on the Research blog re the EM/R shields on past postings I've made. Everyone should checkthat out.
LT: Yes, either THF gang is trying to understand the VE (with the autistic savants) so they will know when this catastrophic event will take place, or somehow manipulate it to their advantage.
They could be heading to that island with all that cargo to set up a protective shield using various antennas they've set up around the area (off shore projects, anyone?).
They been doing research all these years re life expectancy, organ transplants, "proprietary formulation" vaccines, etc. so that they will be able to survice whatever happens during the predicted apocalypse from the Valenzetti Equation. The island and Dharma were a testing ground for their theories of survival in a strange, new world. Now they're actually going theere (nothing else meets their specifications), to set up what they've been working on all these years and put it into practice.
littletigerone, Good rambles. I'm liking the current lines of thinking and hope that we're not too far off base. The theorizing on this blog in the last few days has been excellent. I'm loving the reads.
crossfade: good thinking. alvar was an arms dealer with the us in the (early) atomic age. could have kept his ties to those who could supply hime with what thf would need to start a nuclear war.
Eugenics is a social philosophy which advocates the improvement of human hereditary traits through various forms of intervention. The purported goals have variously been to create healthier, more intelligent people, save society's resources, and lessen human suffering. Earlier proposed means of achieving these goals focused on selective breeding while modern ones focus on prenatal testing and screening, genetic counseling, birth control, in vitro fertilization, and genetic engineering. Critics argue that eugenics was and still is a pseudoscience. Historically, eugenics has been used as a justification for coercive state-sponsored discrimination and severe human rights violations, such as forced sterilization (e.g., of those perceived to have mental or social defects) and even genocide.
Selective breeding of human beings was suggested at least as far back as Plato, but the modern field was first formulated by Sir Francis Galton in 1865, drawing on the recent work of his cousin, Charles Darwin. From its inception, eugenics (derived from the Greek "well born" or "good breeding") was supported by prominent thinkers, including Alexander Graham Bell, George Bernard Shaw, and Winston Churchill, and was an academic discipline at many colleges and universities
I don't know if Alvar himself is really involved in all the shenanigans that Mittelwerk and his gang are up to. I think that's why he hasn't been seen for years. He's in hiding to try to come up with a way to expose the people who took over THF. Maybe he is behind all the hacks, DJ Dan, and has been secretly helping Rachel...he could even be GidgetGirl (how's that for off-the-wall, crazy, unsubstantiated theories!)
Scientific and technological utopia These are set in the future, when it is believed that advanced science and technology will allow utopian living standards; for example, the absence of death and suffering; changes in human nature and the human condition. These utopian societies tend to change what "human" is all about. Technology has affected the way humans have lived to such an extent that normal functions, like sleep, eating or even reproduction, has been replaced by an artificial means. Other kinds of this utopia envisioned, include a society where human has struck a balance with technology and it is merely used to enhance the human living condition (e.g. Star Trek). In place of the static perfection of a utopia, libertarian transhumanists envision an "extropia", an open, evolving society allowing individuals and voluntary groupings to form the institutions and social forms they prefer.
Opposing this optimism is the prediction that advanced science and technology will, through deliberate misuse or accident, cause environmental damage or even humanity's extinction. These pessimists advocate precautions against the premature embrace of new technologies.
Thrasher: Great background info. Thanks for posting it. It does flow into various theories that deal with what is going to happen to those left after the Valenzetti Equation does occur and causes armagedon or apocalypse. Mittelwerk and his gang could have been working all these years on creating that utopian society through manipulations of selective breeding/eugenics and starting the "brave new world".
Thrasher - your eugenics info. gave me some unpleasant ideas - like forced "breeding" of Kate with Jack and Sawyer by the others now that they have been captured.....I know I know....we don't want to go there.
Extropians share an optimistic view of the future, expecting considerable advances in computational power, life extension, nanotechnology and the like.
In 1988, "Extropy: The Journal of Transhumanist Thought" was first published. This brought together thinkers with interests in artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, genetic engineering, life extension, mind uploading, Idea Futures, robotics, space exploration, memetics, and the politics and economics of transhumanism. Alternative media organizations soon began reviewing the magazine, and it attracted interest from likeminded thinkers.
well TWM and THF doesn't come off as having an optomistic view of the future. Maybe Alvar did and his vision has become twisted by TWM and his cronies?
From Lostpedia: The DHARMA Initiative was founded by Gerald and Karen DeGroot, two doctoral candidates at the University of Michigan. The main source of funding is through the Hanso Foundation.
The DI was to create "a large-scale communal research compound where scientists and free-thinkers from around the globe could pursue research in meteorology, psychology, parapsychology, zoology, electromagnetism, and utopian social engineering".
hey guys maybe im confused, but it seems odd that we need a password to enter a new website, when in the past we could enter the website, and then need a password to find hidden clues. I know we need a password to enter rot and rachelblake, but there is always an ACCESSIBLE site that preludes the finding of the hidden site....
Starting to sound very "Matrix" and even a little "Terminator". Interesting idea though, especially if you consider the theory that THF may preemptively destroy the world and recreate it their way (thanks, Cross), or rather, the way the islanders see best.
well if that is true, then we are searching for a password that we dont even have the clue to find it with yet.... maybe geronimo jackson isnt a clue for the new site at all!!!!!!
All this talk about Utopian Societies reminds of my favortie book... Anthem. In the end someone broke away and forged their own path. When you have scientists and free thinkers working together towards a common goal someone, eventually, is going to stray from the original idea.
On the island we have "The Others". In the ARG we have TWM.
I haven't completely thought this through so I'll stop for now.
Throwing up a question for folks familiar with Michigan/Minnesota...on one of RB's posts, she mentions having "no love of the Minnesota Vikings". Is there any big anti-MN Viking rivalry that would give a clue to her hometown? I guess the DeGroots don't HAVE to be from Michigan to be students there, but it might help support Admin's theory.
question 2: should a post on eugenics try to tie in technology, genetic engineering and/or other more modern advances. should those maybe be a separate post?
fastenyourseatbelts: both the chicago bears and green bay packers are rivals. perhaps to a lesser degree one could include the raiders, but that's a very distant third in rivalries.
Oxi - perhaps a string for utopina/extropians with eugenics in there along with technology and other genetice engineering that goes with that (as what Thrasher was discussing/brought up).
I think a research blog post may be warranted here...I have a bunch of stuff, mostly what I already posted here in the comments, but that is just scimming the articles I found...I can't put it together today, but I have free time tomorrow, AKA work...
I'm from Detroit, Michigan, and as far as I know, there's no big Viking rivalry. The Detroit Lions have always had a rivalry with the Green Bay Packers - although these days, the Lions are so pathetic, I don't know that they HAVE a rival.
Sid: Sorry to hear what's happening in India today. Our thoughts are with you and everyone there.
I thibk research continuing on the topic of genetic engineering, selective breeding, etc. would be valuable to the utopian theories that TWM and gang might be contemplating. I'm thinking "Brave New World". But I also thought of the Nazis(Mittelwerk was a site in Germany that manufactured V-2 rockets in WW2). It was definitely a sad chapter in mankind.
yes melissa, that would be for worst team ever - fortunatly we do not have to sit in snow - it doesn't snow here and we have the superdome - or will again in September when they finish repairing it.
And yes, I am also worthless when it comes to sport clues.
I like where you're going with this NoIQ. A couple of things always struck me as odd in her travel post, like "Iceland has the most genetically homogenous populations in the world". Not a typical tourist observation...BUT if you were raised by a scientist, it might be something you'd notice.
Noiq: Good thoughts about what was thought to be just a travelogue. Maybe there are hints in there.
When that Iceland entry came out I did ask about a Viking rivalry possibily giving us her hometown.
There are many cities around the world that are linked to "City of Flowers": Zamboanga, Philippines; Xlapa, Mexico; Merano, Italy; The Flower Capital Aalsmer, Netherlands; even Anchorage is known as the City of Flower during their summer months.
It is really difficult to comment on Season 2 w/o spoilers, rach. There isn't much more that we know here in the states that you don't already know. The others are generally a mystery.
I noticed that, too, Belly. What happened there? I have not seen a post or heard from Antecedent for a few weeks. (I know he was having his wisdom teeth out)
Maven...should have known you'd be all over that Viking Reference. Sorry I didn't see it originally.
Other comments (clues?) that pop out... 1. "maybe I read Hamlet too many times" Hamlet wants revenge against the king/hi who killed his father and (in Hamlet's opinion, ruined his mother) and pretends to be insane while he works through his plan. Hmmm...of course we know that ended really badly. 2. "hope to become a better interior designer" I have no idea why Copenhagen is a good place to learn design. 3. "of course, I'm a city girl" Detroit?
Matt the Pale, I agree with you that they (Speaker & Ninja) aren't totally in the know. But TPTB are definitely in touch with them and can certainly correct them if they are wrong.
I just have a hard time believing that TPTB would mislead us so blatantly and allow their own mouthpieces to be mislead as well. I do believe that they would allow us to perpetuate false assumptions to keep us from arriving at the end too soon but I don't think they would purposely trick us like that. It's a BIG lie and a BIG risk for them to take. A risk b/c I think a lot of people would be significantly frustrated and quite disillusioned by a reveal that Rachel isn't Persephone after all.
By the way...I didn't know if you all knew this but "young wallace" is William from the podcasts. He lurks all the time but is typically too busy at work to post...It looks like he's plugging in for a bit.
little tiger: Mittelwerk said the island has unique properties but doesn't say anything about the properties of the rejected islands. It's possible those are just regular islands rejected for mundane reasons like too close to shore or whatnot.
i agree with belly on the rb=p issue. i think TPTB are probably getting frustrated that we're not buying it completely as a community. the keep giving more and more overt statements to convince us. it's possible that inconsistencies between the two are no more than mistakes. wouldn't be the first time they've told us to ignore their mistakes and move on.
i think this eugenics/utopian society in a post nuclear apocalypse world theory would be a good way to tie so much together. It also clears a major hurdle i've had with other theories. ultimately, tptb have to present a plot that has a basis largely in scientific fact or the more techno-oriented viewers and players poo poo the ideas as impossible. at the same time, the overall premise has to be understandable for all viewers, even the less scientific. when they pull the wraps completely off the grand scheme, they want everyone in the audience, nerd and jock and hippie and everyone else, to go "oh, i get it!" i think thf wanting to build a society to carry humanity past the end of the world could fill that role.
what if thf is gatehering together all the high tech ideas/devices they can to survive the end of the world. kind of a new library of alexandria type thing in the south pacific. they will preserve all the work done by scientists thus far in one place hardened against the worst humanity has to offer.
Did anyone else read the article in today's NYTimes about Rogue Waves? Basically there's a large interest in the scientific community to study them, they are more common than originally thought.
The whole time I was reading the article I was thinking of the Helgus Antonius and wondering if a RW would get it.

I (David) just realized something really stupid that I did a long time ago. When I started this blog, I used what I believed to be the "official" TLE logo as a part of our banner and our podcast graphic. I was ignorant of the fact that TLE.com was a fan site and didn't even think about asking permission for or giving credit for the art. I just came to my senses and did some research. I wanted to finally give credit to "DocArzt" and thelostexperience.com for the artwork. I also wanted to let everyone know that they are graciously allowing us to continue using it on our site. Thanks a ton guys!

Top 5!!
the power of 5
.... or not!
ok, where were we... DJ Dan makes reference to several of the Lost Island themes, in his latest podcast. Rachel got hacked, but it may not be Rachel.....
Dang!
Guys, I can't chat tonight. Date with the wife!
Keep up the greatness!!!
******************SPOILER***********************************
By the way...
I still firmly believe that Rachel and Persephone are the same person.
Why would TPTB let Ninja and Speaker lie to us? They wouldn't do that would they?
And the password for stophanso.com needs to be found. Someone mentioned is is hosted same as rachelblake.com and another one (I forget). Sounds to me to be official I think.

http://users.newblog.com/thinbluemime/?post_id=6233
ah, new thread
just when I catch up on the old one! :D
guessing username is rblake again, but password could be anything (as we learned from allveggies password)
Admin:
The way we we see it is that Speaker and Lost Ninja had no idea either.
DAMN! i must have refreshed the last page at least 100 times wondering where everyone went.
Will DR come back in the next season?
I may be way off here in that there is no way we could have got the allveggie pasword without Rachel and even if hansoexposed.com is ready to go live yet but just in case.
hang on...are we sure hansoexpoded is in-game yet? i missed it, and i know you have ways of finding that out.
this might sound crazy, but could namaste show up as a password. it was shoved down our throats since day 1, constantly. maybe it will end up being important.
there was also the LYCGY admin folder that had a login and password like this that we didn't crack until given the information about a week later (unless I am blurring all the compass stuff together). To me it doesn't feel the time is right for Hanso Exposed, at the moment we just have confussion... I feel like we need more connected before we are ready to have a dedicated site for the expose.
Ange...
I think in the Gary Troup interviews he eludes to the fact that some things aren't entirely fiction as well.
noiq:
All fair comment. I agree. You mentioned script shock solutions. If anything were to come of this then that is exactly what it would be. I am still on the fence myself I was just arguing the case but I just cannot be sure at the moment.
hey guys, Christine #2 here,
Didnt persephone tell us at one point we have seen hanso before... perhaps in one of the episodes? So maybe in the episode that was referred to in the dj dan podcast "what kate did" could it be possible that alvar hanso was there during the episode?
I've been around for while Christine, we just never posted at the same time until now. I see we're both from CA. :)
Oh - and I forgot to mention.
Thanks marcusallencooper for the info on what DJDan said at the end of the podcast about wheres walt actually being wheres whoa. I lostened again and I agree.
i originally thought it was walt, too. but that wouldnt make any sense. its supposed to be wheres alvar.
hey christine! I did think he said something other than alvar at the end, im glad im not alone California kicks butt!!!
So why do you think he said walt? or did he say wheres waldo?
I agree that allveggie was not completely random, in that TM is a vegetarian/vegan, but that could mean that any words remotely connected could be used. for instance, Peter Thompson - cancersurvivor; alvar hanso - missing person
blood disorder, blood transfusion, I like blood somehow having something to to with the password since Alvar's blood disorder, and TW's blood replacement
It could be anything.
my earlier theory is that namaste will be an eventual password.
Noblelawyer; I've been trying words associated with Mittlewerk since the last two were. It would make sense to use one that is associated with him on a Hanso Exposed site since he seems to be the center of everything. Nothing yet.
well, im leaving again. i hope to be back later, but im not sure if that will happen.
namaste
I think he said Wheres....Whoa, he was interrupted by something
I agree maven - i'll try too
a few people are chatting on frappr if anyone wants to join and keep from having to F5 all night. :)
PS - I have found that if you really want to chat, click the box to get the large chat window and then close the browser window with the map. then is zips right along.
Noblelawyer: Don't try "ponytail". I already did! LOL
The transcript to the DJ Dan podcast is posted under clue #71 if anyone missed it. If you search for "whoa" you get part of it. :)
California is a great place to be Christine!
guys christine #2,
do you think this is Rachels new site, fearing the hackers have gotten in her computer... maybe she is starting a new blog?
i think you are right christine2
Hi, Christine #2: I'm in the San Fernando Valley (Northridge) in beautiful California! I know the other Christine is here in So. Calif., too.(Isn't there a new sitcom starring Julia Louis Dreyfus with this same situation - "The New Adventures of Old Christine")
This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
so maybe since we possibly got a clue from the madrake photos that the other password will show up there?
This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
And hope you get something new.
i changed my screen name, i wish I was #1 but since you were here first CHristine, Ill let you be number 1. sniffle sniffle
Nobleman... unfortunately I still don't know who you were saying was right. LOL
gorammit1 Frappr problems - can't chat keep getting black box anytime I try and type.....will stick here
well its not my fault I have a ver popular and tottaly awesome name! Christines of the lost world unite!!!!!! :)

it is noblelawyer and I am a woman. I was saying that I think you are right that hansoexposed will be RB's new site
OMG. I'm so sorry. I am multitasking and just glanced at the name. I've seen you post so many times. I'm blushing now.
by you, i mean the one that was referring to herself as christine #2 :D
And sorry for the possible mix up. That last post was meant to be aimed at maven (not marcusallencooper as may have been implied by the post - but I like your posts too (really).
don't worry about it Christine. I am mistaken all the time for a man - in ARG only ;) Thrasher thought I was a guy until 2 days ago! :D
Wizardry: I probably missed you (was lurking elsewhere). Thanks and goodnight!
Ihorse007, dont get your panties in a buch we are just cooling our frustration over not haveing the password for the new site....
well no new clues tonight and I am tired of beating my head against the monitor trying to figure out hansoexposed passwords, so I am going to call it a night, and leave it for sharper minds (or for RB or ROT reveal - whichever comes first - my money is on ya'll ;)
night ya'll. I'm off.
p.s. i think we should rename the site to Boston Terriers of truth....... they are alot cuter. ok I'm being silly but why dont we try to post things about mittleverk that we know, and maybe we can figure out a password if we all work together.
ihorse, no meaness intended here too :) Its my New York personality coming out.
Good idea, Christine#2. That way we won't all trying the same things over and over.
Okay, here goes: Ponytail, transfusion, vaccine, blood, Helgus Antonius, St. Anthony, Flower of Life, limp, pine smell, maps, bodyguard, ...
so Mittleverk
Im going to go to lostpedia and see what possible passwords I can come up with, Ill be back
blood transfusion, bloodtransfusion, blood disorder, blooddisorder, save joop, savejoop, vacination, vaccination, vaccinations, vacinations, polar bear, porter, persephone, fixer
NOW I'm going :D
LOL noblelawyer ;)
Unfortunately, I'm never 100% convinced of anything in this game anymore but hansoexposed definitely seems like a new place for RB.
I'm off to the gym. Of course I'll check back later. I can't help it. :)
shipping, Black Rock, equator, island,
Not these! Are we using rblake for user name?
heir apparent president limp pine trees they dont work
i would assume thats the username
turtles dogs, strange, bad twin, werner, allveggie, blood none of these
It has been rblake in the other ones. So that's what I'm using.
destination unknown and destination doesn't work!
We better keep our avatars away from eachother, Christine#2!
what about that song she mentioned, geronimo jackson she gives us a quote from a song, maybe the name of the song is the password
marcus, we are thinking alike :)
ghost town? did anyone try that?
Tried: Sailaway, shippingcrates, shippinglanes...
Marcus: I did try Magna Carter earlier today!
This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
I don't know. This is pretty frustrating. When we do find out the p/w we're going to be smacking ourselves silly: Why didn't I think of THAT one?

I don't know, christine#2. Looks like a plain, old t-shirt site to me. What do you think it means.
ok maybe not
it does look like a site claiming lost for money purposes, but maybe there is a clue iun there somewhere. who the hell is geronimo jackson?
Check them out on Lostpedia: http://lostpedia.com/wiki/Geronimo_Jackson
lmao, oh well, but it claims they are a real band, so somewhere out there, the is a song in which Rachel quotes, that has a name, which could be the password. also ahs anyone looked into the fact that she used to work for widmore corp? her severance package???? did she help Troup with his book? what got her fired?
Sorry, Marcus: Typo! And I do type passwords without spaces; however, not when posting suggestions or ideas. I guess I shouldn't do that.
but lost pedia says that geronimo jackson is a real band according to the produceers, they referr to it as an "obscure 70's band" I am going to delete my previous posts about the cafe site.
this isn't a theory, but it is sort of cool.
it's a little quicktime VR of the dock from the end of season 2. (the page doesn't mention Lost, but I found it on Lostpedia.)
Apparently it was also the dock for Fantasy Island!
http://hotspotshawaii.com/mac5alias/embeddery/embed77.html
well guys, there has to be a clue somewhere! she never gives us something without there being a clue in in, the djdan podcast, her post......there must be something we missed!
******************SPOILER***********************************
Thinking about the severence pay thing today -- may her mom, Penny, made sure she got a nice payment because she was guilty about abandoning her. I'm sure this is full of hold a mile wide!
On the phone conversation transcript on Lostpedia it just keeps mentioning Side A and Side B of their first complete album, Magna Carta.
hmmmmmm, iguess we will find out, most likely tomorrow.
Thanks, fastenyourseatbelts. That explains her deep pockets.
Ha ha
P=RB
Purple = Red + Blue
oh ARG on the brain!!!
well i took a side trip to the movies......looks like i didnt miss much! oh well
Just shooting from the hip here, and it probably doesn't mean anything, and I more than likely own't come back to check the responses to this, but feel free to speculate all you like:
Does anyone else think the words in all UPPERCASE in Rachel's last post mean something? It just seemed to me that there were an excessive amout of uppercase words in there...
But, like I said, I could be very wrong.
Have fun guys.
One way to get into the whereisalvarhanso site is through the
http://www.whereisalvarhanso.com/Images/letter.jpg link chopsshaw posted (how he/she got there I don't know). Delete the "letter.jpg" and you are in the "Index of /Images", then delete "Images/" and you are in the parent directory and the actual "Have you seen Alvar Hanso?" page. Don't know if there is more but according to the file directroy, that's all there is. The source code contains a message ""Alvar Hanso was a friend, please help."
Chopsshaw also pointed out that the italicized letters in letter.jpg spell "help". Actually the word 'apologize' also contains an italicized 'e' albeit in the same font size unlike the other italicized letters. So: e help
The Dear [blacked-out name] appears to consist of 8 letters including the character q.
Sorry.
Just thinking back over DJDans broadcast:
First caller: "... we are sparsely populated"
Only caller not to be shut down: "...unpopulated"
Rachel's post: "This place feels like a ghost town."
See the connection?
Could this be a clue to the un/pw?
.. oh, and Mandrake Wig's rows of emtpy chairs at
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mandrakewig/with/177058993/
littletigerone, did you notice a familiar picture on this page (bottom right of the group)? :)
Morning All! David I like your theory, a lot!!! It kind of sounds like a Utopian Society that lostluvr29, Crossfade and some others have had in the works but never seemed to make it fit in the current situation...maybe now is a good time to add it to the Research Blog
At home today, resting my ailing back, again!!!
I like Oodles idea reagarding possible password - unpopulated, sparsley populated, empty chair.
Well that utopian society could go on after nuclear Armageddon. My post on the Resaerch blog certainly indicates THF could help a small group survive on a secluded island. that would explain the Lost TV show's Others obsession with "The Good Ones". Anyone working on a research post on utopian societies. It's been tried before.
hope your back feels better soon thrasher, I understand, as I have a bad back too.......ugh, typing is difficult, still to early, particularly to be typing in 8 letter verification words!
anyone think maybe the helgus antonius wil pull into San Diego for ComicCon?
oxillini, if you're right, then there are 2 possibilities. either
the entire crash was on purpose. kelvin diliberately worked it out so that desmond wouldnt push the button, and cause the plane to crash.
or
it was an accident. the crash was unplanned, and was a major setback for what the others were trying to accomplish.
sean: it all gets too messy when tying the show to the arg due to the 2004/2006 thing. perhaps thf is working towards a utopian society on the island with no knowledge (yet) that the losties and dharma are still there. maybe dharma was cancelled but never really stopped. ever see office space? it's like milton was laid off but no one ever told him.
thats an interesting theory. but the food drops are what is most confusing. there doesnt seem to be a way to theorize around that.
Jumping on the Jessiepao bandwagon for the moment.
If LOTUS were a new password, do we have a box requiring a password right now? There's a new login box on hansoexposed.com but I couldn't get Lotus to work there in any fashion.
SweetScrapper
sean: hmmmm. yes that does throw a wrench in the works. perhaps contracted that out (to widmore?) and it never got cancelled. i think at this point i'm really stretching and i should probably back off this theory for now. it would be an awfully sloppy accounting department not to notice the cargo bills keep coming to drop things at this island THF hasn't used in some time. perhaps this can all be explained away by underpants gnomes:
step 1: collect underpants
step 2: something
step 3: post apocolytpic utopian society!
it's just that simple.
jdgdtt -
Try this:
http://www.thehansofoundation.org/adkahdskja2897429834ahjkncawuye32782374/hanso_noshutdown.swf
That should take you to the old Hanso site. I'm not sure if all of the clues still work, but if not, you can find links to everything on the clues site.
And don't be afraid - everyone here is very nice! :)
ox,
are the underpants gnomes related to the lost sock fairies? you know the ones who steal one sock from the pair out of the dryer?
SweetScrapper
i would be disappointed if that was the case with the food drops. it doesnt seem "shocking" enough.
Morning all:
jdgdtt: Welcome to the game!
Hopefully, rest will be all it needs!
sweet: it's an offshoot of the gnomes, yes.
maven: regarding THF surviving what the VE predicts, it certainly looks possible. Check out the post on the Research Blog from Crossfade and I.
(/shameless plug)
Wow, these hanso fiends really are far-reaching and MUST BE STOPPED!
Put an end to lost socks now!
Do you think all the lost socks are with Alvar? Hmm. There's a theory.

i have to go again. but i hope to be back by tonight.
littletiger1 - I have also been fascinated with the phenomenon of pole switching for some time, prior to the show, but hadn't put that connection together.

Everything is seemingly tying in together....
littletigerone,
Good rambles. I'm liking the current lines of thinking and hope that we're not too far off base. The theorizing on this blog in the last few days has been excellent. I'm loving the reads.
p.s. like my new avatar? Thought I'd let everyone appreciate the beauty of my wonderful wife instead of the solitary fright of my ugly mug!
crossfade: good thinking. alvar was an arms dealer with the us in the (early) atomic age. could have kept his ties to those who could supply hime with what thf would need to start a nuclear war.
admin: dig the avatar. she's cute!
You're such a cute couple, Admin!
Scientific and technological utopia
These are set in the future, when it is believed that advanced science and technology will allow utopian living standards; for example, the absence of death and suffering; changes in human nature and the human condition.
Sorry for 2 long posts in a row...felt I had something to add here...Utopian societies also forsee unlimeted lifespans...
Great pic, Administrator!
Been storing it away in the research discussions blog for future use...
Cross - Yes, there are some good ones online, real and fake...don't worry about it, been called worse inmy life...lol
From Lostpedia:
The DHARMA Initiative was founded by Gerald and Karen DeGroot, two doctoral candidates at the University of Michigan. The main source of funding is through the Hanso Foundation.
The DI was to create "a large-scale communal research compound where scientists and free-thinkers from around the globe could pursue research in meteorology, psychology, parapsychology, zoology, electromagnetism, and utopian social engineering".
utopian social engineering - eugenics perhaps? Do I see another research topic?
hey guys maybe im confused, but it seems odd that we need a password to enter a new website, when in the past we could enter the website, and then need a password to find hidden clues. I know we need a password to enter rot and rachelblake, but there is always an ACCESSIBLE site that preludes the finding of the hidden site....
I think they are working on the site and don't want us finding it early....hence the password....
Starting to sound very "Matrix" and even a little "Terminator". Interesting idea though, especially if you consider the theory that THF may preemptively destroy the world and recreate it their way (thanks, Cross), or rather, the way the islanders see best.
Well, that is all I have for now on Utopian societies and such...read it over, digest it, talk amongst yourseves...
Peace & Namaste
well if that is true, then we are searching for a password that we dont even have the clue to find it with yet.... maybe geronimo jackson isnt a clue for the new site at all!!!!!!
good stuff thrasher
What Sid?
yes sid, i read that this morning its absolutely terrible. ill say a prayer for them. whats the world coming to.
Sid - That is very tragic!
OMG! http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/asiapcf/07/11/mumbai.blasts/index.html
eugenics also ties into a not-so-pleasant group from germany in the 1930's-40's
rachel has hit a dead end guys, could it mean that her post is a dead end also?
All this talk about Utopian Societies reminds of my favortie book... Anthem. In the end someone broke away and forged their own path. When you have scientists and free thinkers working together towards a common goal someone, eventually, is going to stray from the original idea.
On the island we have "The Others". In the ARG we have TWM.
I haven't completely thought this through so I'll stop for now.
oxi - "not so pleasant" is one way I've never heard the Nazi's described before.
so does everyone feel a research blog post on eugenics is warranted?
Christine - I also love Anthem (and The Foutain Head, and Atlas Shrugged), however HANSO makes me think more along The Brave New World meets 1984
I do Oxi
noble: yeah, i was a little timid about any connecting of nazis to thf.
Signing off for now...will check back in a few...
Peace & Namaste
fastenyourseatbelts -
I'm from Detroit, Michigan, and as far as I know, there's no big Viking rivalry.
It was definitely a sad chapter in mankind.
melissa - the Lions have a rival in the new Orleans Saints (which are horrible)
noiq...I'm referring to her first post from Reykjavik on the rachelblake.com "my european trip" cover blog.
thanks for the feedback on the vikings rivalry.
noble - would that be a rivalry for worst team EVER? :)
It's so sad to watch the Lions get spanked every Thanksgiving - and yet, people go and sit in the snow and watch the game every year!
Good point noblelawyer and a better fit.
Sid, so sorry. Please stay safe.
If the next hint has to do with sports I'm going to be even more useless. LOL
Take care all!
yes melissa, that would be for worst team ever - fortunatly we do not have to sit in snow - it doesn't snow here and we have the superdome - or will again in September when they finish repairing it.
And yes, I am also worthless when it comes to sport clues.
VERY worth noting noiq - remember the ROT guys said the clues would be right under our noses.
can't say anything Rach without it being a spoiler
I like where you're going with this NoIQ. A couple of things always struck me as odd in her travel post, like "Iceland has the most genetically homogenous populations in the world". Not a typical tourist observation...BUT if you were raised by a scientist, it might be something you'd notice.
Noiq: Good thoughts about what was thought to be just a travelogue. Maybe there are hints in there.
When that Iceland entry came out I did ask about a Viking rivalry possibily giving us her hometown.
There are many cities around the world that are linked to "City of Flowers": Zamboanga, Philippines; Xlapa, Mexico; Merano, Italy; The Flower Capital Aalsmer, Netherlands; even Anchorage is known as the City of Flower during their summer months.
we do not rach79
It is really difficult to comment on Season 2 w/o spoilers, rach. There isn't much more that we know here in the states that you don't already know. The others are generally a mystery.
I noticed that, too, Belly. What happened there? I have not seen a post or heard from Antecedent for a few weeks. (I know he was having his wisdom teeth out)
I do have his email, Belly.
3. "of course, I'm a city girl" Detroit?
oh, dang, hit submit without proofreading. that #1 should read the king/his uncle, not the kinghi.
Matt the Pale,
I agree with you that they (Speaker & Ninja) aren't totally in the know.
A risk b/c I think a lot of people would be significantly frustrated and quite disillusioned by a reveal that Rachel isn't Persephone after all.
fastenyourseatbelts: Also in Copenhagen she mentions "I actually made some money at that job I mentioned." Nothing about her "severence pay".
In Iceland she also talks about how children are named by their father's first name. Another reference to "who is my father?"
Gotta go for a few hours. Hopefully I WILL miss something!
By the way...I didn't know if you all knew this but "young wallace" is William from the podcasts. He lurks all the time but is typically too busy at work to post...It looks like he's plugging in for a bit.
Belly: Will do.
little tiger: Mittelwerk said the island has unique properties but doesn't say anything about the properties of the rejected islands.
It also clears a major hurdle i've had with other theories. ultimately, tptb have to present a plot that has a basis largely in scientific fact or the more techno-oriented viewers and players poo poo the ideas as impossible. at the same time, the overall premise has to be understandable for all viewers, even the less scientific. when they pull the wraps completely off the grand scheme, they want everyone in the audience, nerd and jock and hippie and everyone else, to go "oh, i get it!" i think thf wanting to build a society to carry humanity past the end of the world could fill that role.
what if thf is gatehering together all the high tech ideas/devices they can to survive the end of the world. kind of a new library of alexandria type thing in the south pacific. they will preserve all the work done by scientists thus far in one place hardened against the worst humanity has to offer.
that cargo ship is going to green bay! it's full of livestock!
Did anyone else read the article in today's NYTimes about Rogue Waves? Basically there's a large interest in the scientific community to study them, they are more common than originally thought.
The whole time I was reading the article I was thinking of the Helgus Antonius and wondering if a RW would get it.
Sweets
i'm not convinced we are supposed to be getting into hansoexposed.com at this point.
