Listen to our first stab at a "Commenters' Opinion" Podcast! We figured everyone is tired of listening to our opinions so we decided to get YOUR actual voices on the podcast. We've got phone interviews with Maven (3:20-14:28), Stelvin (14:32-20:05), SweetScrapper (20:10-31:08), BellyOfDesire (31:13-46:38), and Thrasher76 (46:44-59:15). They each share their thoughts on 10 unresolved issues related to The Lost Experience. It's long but it's sooo fun to listen to some of the commenters you've come to know and love. We've included the times in case you want to listen in pieces :) Feel free to chat about your views on these 10 unresolved issues in the comments or on the message board.
Oh, and since it's pretty "content heavy", we'll be coming out with an Episode 10.2 later this week that is more of the "just for fun" variety!

I just wanted to mention that after reading a lot of the previous posts, everyone on this board seems to be pretty forgiving with those of us who may not have caught the little bits of this whole thing, and that is really cool
I'm pretty comfortable participating where in most boards i come across i don't for fear of being torn apart

i explain as best as i can to people when they ask what im doing.... its hard to explain quickly.
as for during the actual show for lost... all my friends know im way to involve with it and hate me because i told them about someone dying in the final shannon episode. So they don't let me talk at all during the episodes... even though we watch the episodes at my place and i give them all free food.... geez!
of course after the episode is over they all look at me for answers to what the heck happened on the episode.

The guy came from a wealth family of slave traders to americas. A family that doesn't look the means to achieve the ends. So Alvar Hanso is the guy to be shutdown.

Mittlewerk? Good or Evil? Don't know, but I do know that he is taking metters in his own hands.
3.What is your opinion of Hugh/Darla/Gidgetgirl?
SCAM of some sort. How RB/P could belived in her? Even that GG is/was Hugh's wife the scam to put RB on harms way could be ploted. Their death? FAKE!

All right... here's my crackpot theory.
*ahem*
With people mentioning that Iron Man (Great nickname, btw) is Mittlewerk's twin brother, and then the fact that it was brought up (And quickly shot down) that he is Rachel's twin brother... it got me thinking...
Maybe the twin brother theory has some relevance to it. But maybe we aren't supposed to link him to a TLE character. Somebody mentioned (I believe it was in this podcast) that he might have a connection to somebody on the island.
And that's when it clicked for me...
Maybe his brother (Twin or not) is Desmond.
I'll make a short list here to try and back up my claim:
a.) Even though their accents are different (One being a Scottish brogue and the other... well... we don't know what it is just yet, but it sounds British), that can easily be explained by any number of reasons. They were seperated at birth. Maybe their parents got divorced when they were young and they were split up from each other.
b.) So they're brothers who didn't know each other very well. Iron Man decides that the time to meet up with his brother has come, and so he starts to track him down. Maybe he finds Desmond, maybe he doesn't. This lends itself to two theories:
1.) If he found Desmond before Desmond was arrested and ended up on the island, he would know about Desmond's involvement with the wonderful Ms. Widmore.
2.) Desmond was on the island before he tried to track him down. So he had to dig a little deeper.
Either way, he found out about his brother's relationship with Widmore, and would've followed that lead. Widmore would've lead him to Hanso (Considering what information he found), and he's been following the lead that somebody at THF knows where his brother is.
Along comes Rachel Blake, who not only is anti-Hanso, but also used to work for Widmore. Aha! An ally!
I believe he was working on the inside of the Hanso Foundation trying to find his brother, and as Mittlewerk's bodyguard/driver/pen pal/whatever, learned about Rachel.
The reason he is reaching out to help her is because if he can help her blow the lid off of THF, he might be able to track down his brother.
So... for those of you who don't want to read my far too long ramblings...
Iron Man is Desmond's brother. And I have a feeling that if THF and Mittlewerk get their hands on him and Rachel.... Desmond might be reunited with his brother afterall. :)

Morning guys...I'll be out for awhile today in different meetings. Noticed there was some debate about long posts earlier. Here is my OPINION (jmho):
1. People should feel free to post their answers to the 10 questions in this thread (although that wasn't necessarily our intention).
2. People should feel free to just skim past long posts if they don't have time to read them...it's okay sometimes to not read EVERY WORD.
3. My intention was that people would just discuss the answers they heard on the podcast that were maybe NEW to them or that they found most INTERESTING or that they DISAGREED with the most. (See lhorse007's post at 7:00:31AM - this is a perfect example of a good way to respond to the podcast opinions).
Seems like you guys are enjoying it. I'm glad! I thought it was a cool idea but was worried that you'd get frustrated hearing the same 10 questions 5 times in a row. We'll mix it up better next time.

morning all! anyone think the big reveal at comic con will be rachel's identity and motives? I think that would be big enough to merit a live appearance, but it won't yet blow the game wide open. after all, there's still a whole act on the way!
I think it will be JOOP talking about his escape and ultimately ending with a 4-hour presnentation (a'la blackboards) of the solution or lack, thereof.....of the Valenzetti Equation.
Just to comment on what Maven said in the podcast, while I personally don't believe that P. Thompson is DJ Dan, I do find it odd how as soon as he supposedly "dies", DJ Dan and the "next podcast coming on..." dissapears.

Alvar isn't all bad. I reckon he has a bit of the mad scientist mentality about him, driven to unlock the secrets of the universe but at the end of the day he is a prisoner of his own desires. Right now I suspect his concience has gotten the better of him and he is covertly doing something to stop Mittlewerk. I'm also starting to think that Alvar is perhaps not beyond assasination if it saves the world from armogeddon. Stopping knowledge of the V Equation seems to be the only major motivation we know about him, so how far would he take that?

Mittlewerks an idealist, he thinks he knows what is best for the world and is perfectly willing to enforce his will one way or another. He's also clever, so isn't going to walk around ranting and shouting. I suspect his end goal may be something he see's as "for the best". But it isn't. Also I suspect it is he that wants to use the knowledge from the V equation, where as Alvar wants to destroy it.

We don't know enough about Hugh. Certainly we don't know enough to judge him one way or another. It could be that Rachel/Persephone got Hugh killed. Perhaps Mittlewerk frowns on affairs himself and especially frowned on who he was having an affair with. Hence the desperation by Gidget to get those pictures down. The fact is, we don't know enough about Hugh. I suspect Darla was Gidget, but I still think it was someone else that phoned Rachel and set her up. Of course, this will no doubt get a little cleared up when we see what iron-man had to say for himself.

He's obviously not confortable with Mittlewerks plans. But he is a lawyer and one that works for Hanso, Widmore and Paik and we've seen his alleged history thanks to Persephone (seemed to be verified to an extent by that taped conversation). It could be that it's not a morale issue for him, just that he doubts how genuine things like the V equation is.

Right now, they are like my family, my friends and my job all rolled into one. Lol. I don't think either of them have secret identities as other characters we've seen (even if they have re-used voice actors) because that just wouldn't make a lot of sense. DJDans show is pretty harmless to Hanso, although it seems THF get's quite tetchy about any negative mention of them whether it be in a work of fiction or from a conspiracy nut with a rouge podcast. Really it's just strange the contrast between their slow reaction to the hacking and their reaction to Dan/Troup. Anyway, he's had a couple of scoops, first with the shark and then with the Rachel=Persephone thing, but both of those ended up being shared by R/P anyway. With the long break and the plan to start tracking down Alvar Hanso perhaps he will provide something big in the near future. I also wonder if we'll ever see this flower of life enterprises website pop up. The important point from the last podcast was that they had a lead. It wasn't a big lead but it looks like they will be doing some investigating finally. Don't expect them to get involved in the real action though. Oh yes, I still reckon Tanya is DJDans wife.

Well, he's obviously got a level of restraint given that he hasn't slapped Rachel about for the iron stunt. We know his job is to "fix" things. Whatever the case, his role and motivation is likely linked to whatever the truth is about Rachel Blake. If she is for example the child of Alvar Hanso, his role could be to just pacifier her without using any kind of lethal force. The suggestion from what he was saying would be that he was some kind of double agent. However he could still be part of some ellaborate trap. If Rachel knows something or has something Mittlewerk needs then killing her wouldn't be an option (at least not yet) perhaps this is a more subtle scheme.
My current theory on Rachel is that she has the key to the V Equation in her head, that's the only reason I can think of for her not sharing this secret with us or Gidget or the missing doctor from Vik. The lengths THF has gone to to get rid of any copy of the book, the fact taht Valencetti himself has vanished and the way Troup has potentialy been assasinated all suggest that anyone with any kind of Knowledge of this equation, even indirectly is in massive danger.
So yes, it all depends on Rachel really. My suspicion at the moment is that the split between those trying to kill Rachel and the "fixer" is because one part is answering to Mittlewerk and the other to Alvar Hanso. I'm swaying towards Alvar wishing to kill Rachel. The reason being that he realized the danger of the V equation and how it can be used to BRING ABOUT the end of the world. It could be she is related to him still, but he has to stop anyone from having that information. That is why he purchased all those books. Mittlewerk however wants to get the information out to use for his own ends. So if the "fixer" works for Mittlewerk he will want Rachel alive and to protect her. Good in the short term, but it could lead to the end of the world.

Perhaps Rachels memories of her mother are false ones. It's just something that has occured to me. If I'm following my theory about her having information of the V equation in her head then her head could be really messed up. Maybe she's not even sure who she is anymore. I always said Rachel Blake seemed to be a fake name, maybe she doesn't know the real one. It could be that she had a mother, I suspect she was potentially one of these virgin births. But beyond that it's hard to speculate. She may be related to Alvar or Mittlewerk, but we don't have a huge amount of evidence pointing either way. She seems to have dropped the "Find Alvar" mission a bit (probably why DJDan has picked it up) to focus on Mittlewerk, so there is no obvious suspicion from her about her parenthood. The Parthogenisis thing is out there though and will likely have some relevence on the overall plot. So that is a fairly safe bet (I'd say 2-1).

They were a bit of fun to begin with, but to be honest after wasting that weekend guessing words for them, only to find that Rachel gave a direct link to the resultant URL when she gave out the impossible to guess password, I've come to the conclusion they are entirely pointless as characters themselves. They are a bit like DJDan in their side story value but at least Dan get's to throw his personality at us with his podcasts, the ROT crew just get text. From what I've seen they don't do much in the way of chatting on AIM, just giving out the key facts like they are bots or something. So all we have left is a few popular culture references on their website and to be honest we can get those off Speaker anyway.
So at the moment I'd say rot has little or no value to the game and the site itself is no different to the Jeep site or Bad Twin or any other site that occasionally gives out clues (but not even as regularly as LYCGY and Sublymonal). That could change with this new developing storyline, if they do something with it that is.

Yes I have had a lot more Sprite. It's partially down to the drinks offers at my local newsagent though and the fact that I'm trying to drink less coke to reduce my caffine intake (and caffine free coke isn't worth the hassle). I have always liked sprite though, but no more then Lilt and considerably less then Coke.
I have been meaning to get my CV on Monster.com for a while. It's really not influenced me at all though as I still haven't done it!
As for Verizon and Keep. Well I don't think I could get Verizon here anyway, and I can't drive (well not in the legal sense, I was so robbed on my last test it was unbelievable!) Anyway, once I pass I won't be buying a Jeep. Just no point.
I suppose out of all of those it's probably the Sprite that will have had the biggest sucsess. Most people looking for jobs and on the net would use Monster anyway, motor vehicles are just too expensive to buy on a whim and changing broadband supliers is just a pain in the arse so you wouldn't really do that on a whim either.

why is it they referred to mittelwerk at thehansofoundation.org (concerning commercial) by his MIDDLE name (WERNER). yet, in the commercial itself, they used Thomas (his first name)??

nannie-the ARG monitor said that THF updated today (Hanso Foundation hanso.swf 07-19-2006 02:55)...I am SO thankful for your post. I have been trying to figure out what they updated and/or what they were getting ready to update! Also, like you said, further proof that they watch our "spirited debates".
LOVE the long podcast. Love the ten questions, as it gives us something to talk about in a lag. Really love the listener interview idea...much better than the guys from last week:)! Also, going to post my ideas on the 10 questions on the message board, not as much viewership, but alleviates the lengthy comment. Cheers guys, nice job!
My Ironman Theory!
After looking at the videos with this guy in them I have come to the following conclusion.
Ironman is doing the same thing that Rachel is but from a different angle. He could even be WTK!! I do not beleive that he is a goon of Mittelwerks either. I think that when Rachel bumped into him outside of the Copenhagen Cartography Consortium, or whatever it is called, he was following Mittelwerk and saw Rachel's diversion as a chance to getup close to him. He also could have used it to procure a map or other vital info. As a concerned citezen he heloed him up. He then followed RB to either help her or warn her that what she is doing is very dangerous. One of Ironmans contacts called him and told him about the fire and then wham RB hits him. So Ironman finds out that Mits is onto RB and decides he has to help her get out of the thick of things, no need for more innocent deaths. He follows her to Paris and then to her room when all hell breaks loose and he saves her.
What do you all think of that?
lostnuts- if you are cutting and pasting the NEW long password, it doesn't work. They have funny spacing on the main page. I had to copy and paste to a word doc., make it all on one line, and then it worked. Hope that helps.

The one piece that we are missing. I think once we find this guy, everything will come together.

Looking out for only himself involving this whole Valenzetti Equation/Apocalypse thing.

Hugh wanted out of THF, so he faked his death with Darla/GidgetGirl and is now in hiding, but D/GG is still trying to help/protect Rachel, so she sent Ironman to save her. When R's phone started ringing, that was D/GG calling to tell her to trust Ironman, knowing she would think he was a Hanso thug.
4.What is your opinion of Peter Thompson?
In debt to Mittlewerk for curing his cancer, but is having second thoughts concerning his loyalty to THF.
5.What is your opinion of DJDan & Tanya?
Comic relief, but haven't contributed much.
6.What is your opinion of Ironman?
Ironman = Rachel's hero, obviously. Sent by Darla/GidgetGirl to protect Rachel from her attackers in the Paris hotel room. Definitely not a cop or anything like that because of the way he handles the gun.
7.What is your opinion of Rachel's parents?
Maybe not the DeGroots themselves, but definitely a couple that was involved on the island with DHARMA.
8.What is your opinion of the Retrievers of Truth?
Like Stelvin, I think that they do offer some insight, but they are mostly just a distraction.
9.What is your opinion of what will happen at Comic Con?
Well, I'll be there, so I'll be sure to keep an eye out! Rachel will almost definitely be there, since when they were casting an actress for her, one of the requirements was to "be able to make public appearences in July/August." I also think that the Lost producers will be retalliating against McIntyre's statement on the Jimmy Kimmel Show.

Thrasher-I posted a similar theory in comments yesterday. I think Iron Man, BBB, Melodrama, Hugh, GG...all of them, are part of an Anti-Hanso group, and now they have taken Rachel in to their fold b/c they rea;ize she is serious about Hanso, and they want to protect her.
Thrasher, nice theory. I want to know who's phone number Rachel saw when she picked up Ironman's phone in her Copenhagen hotel room.

I just got a reply from Manny! I originally sent him this, just to see what he would say (not actually what I think):
Rachel used to work for The Hanso Foundation. In fact they used her DNA to help Alvar Hanso stay alive after the "accident". And why did they use her DNA? Because she is Alvar Hanso's daughter! Am I correct?

So, did any of the other podcasters have Skype before yesterday? I didn't. But I was impressed at how clear everything sounded. I was sitting out on my deck when I recorded mine, but it sounds like I'm in the same room with the guys.

lhorse007: I've never decompiled the hanso.swf after the shutdown, but I think a lot of people have done it, and it's quite easy to see the text in flash. So, I think it's new stuff.

hey guys good moring, This my be old but on Manny's my space page, he has a new friend, and it is the only one in that group of "no Photo" with an actual photo. The profile is set to private.
Do I tend to go on too much in my posts? I realize I seem to make up for numbers with length, but someone suggested elsewhere when I do that no one really reads what I wrote anyway. For what it's worth, Manny's comment "i collect women's ears in a bucket" was used in the British sitcom Coupling. The character Jeff uses it when he's describing his encounter with a very attractive woman who does not speak English. (I think she spoke Hebrew). The ep showed the encounter from Jeff's perspective and what he said, then you saw it from the woman's perspective and what her lines translated to. A hint? An overanalyzation? Who knows?

This is so silly. I signed up for a blogger account because of this podcast. I've lurked the whole time and wanted to post but it was never worth it. Not saying today is worth, but something struck me as funny during the podcast.
IF Rachel Blake is really seeking to thwart Hanso's better tomorrow,
and
IF Peter Thompson is DJ Dan,
IF Ironman is a Hanso insider trying to help Rachel,
IF GidgetGirl was Darla of the GWC who helped Rachel,
IF her lover was Hugh McIntyre who was also having second thoughts,
IF Alvar is dismayed about the direction Hanso has taken,
and
IF ROT used to be a pro-Hanso organization that has now rejected Hanso,
just who is on Mittlework's side anymore? Or who are we wrong about?
Also, I agree with Maven. Bad guys like this are supposed to be about world domination. It'd be better if the Valenzetti Equation didn't just let them predict the "end," it allowed them to mastermind it.

Yeah, I think there's more going on too. Not sure if Darla and Hugh are dead either. I just read a spy novel where a lone guy travelled around Europe getting dirt on some big guns to bring down their evil plans. Things looked bleaker and bleaker. Enemies were everywhere until just before the very end.
Now Rachel seems to have lots of people also interested in bringing down Hanso around her. Seems like Hanso will be *shutdown* with so many working towards that end no matter what happens to Rachel. But we're not yet near the end. It's not time for things to be looking up. So I'm thinking that we might be wrong about a lot. It's time for the bad guys to score some big points, before they get wiped out. OR maybe the ARG won't end with the good guys winning *quite* so there's room for more next summer!
Curious as to why these spots are debuting on DJ Dan's site, not the Hanso site. Is DJ Dan merely keeping his "eyes on the man" or has his site been subverted by the evil Hanso machine? Someone mentioned that the bad guys are turning good (TWM, Fixer), perhaps the good guys are turning bad (DJ Dan, BBB).
Also, I just checked my listings and no LOST for Dallas tonight. Instead, some American Idol rip-off called The One. Please, please tell me I don't have to suffer through this to catch a Hanso spot....

With regard to fixer/ironman:
STHF Administration: I love your theory of that ironman could be Desmond's brother, and think your theory is well thought out, but... sorry, there's a but... but all the connections you made are not support by any evidence we've seen yet, I think. Doesn't mean your theory is wrong, your explanation is great (maybe TPTB should hire you as a writer) but it requires alot of logical jumps/filler which you have made but have not been proved...yet. Sorry.... I would love it for you to be right though.
Idaho Girl: I think your theory that ironman works for Hugh is very plausible and requires fewer logical jumps than STHF Admin's (less of a stretch given the current facts). So you might be dead-on, and if so, helping Hugh and Darla fake their deaths would be great!

However, based on what you said, I think the last digit is a 0 (with a line through it) NOT an 8

Another thing I've wondered, which the latest videos brings back up, Why does the Hanso Foundation care enough to advertise?

bigdog: yes, same guy... which is why the theory that he did recognize Rachel when she bumped into Mittelwerk and was actually helped him up as a sort of distraction (to keep him from recognizing her) makes a lot of sense. Rachel believed that ironman/fixer followed her after the bumping incident (remember she said she was checked in under an alias so the only way he could have found her was by following her) but it seems she was mistaken as to why he was in her hotel room, hence his introduction to her Iron Fu.

I mean it's not much of stretch... if DJ Dan and Tonya are not in the same location, and Tonya is his engineer who does all the technical stuff with the show, then, If I was THF, I would likely try to get to Tonya and use her to hijack the radio show and website, etc.
