Lost Experience Podcast Episode 8 & Frappr

Twelve important questions, an interview with an Australian, and the return of Listener Feedback. This podcast is content rich, contains the first authentic accent, and is also the longest one on record for this blog. Check out our message boards (see link in sidebar) as you listen b/c they usually host a pretty good discussion of our podcasts. It took a lot of work to make this one work, hope you guys think it was worth the effort...

Click HERE to launch iTunes, find our podcast, and subscribe.
Click HERE if you'd rather just listen in your browser or right-click and save the file. Usually, in the comments, somebody mirrors the file so its more accessible. :)
Thanks to MrTimmyC for hosting and faster downloads!

In the case of another slow day, might we suggest an advanced form of global interaction called Frappr...

Do you frappr? If you're not a frappr, it's time to become one. There's no distinction between East Coast Frapp, West Coast Frapp, Crunk Frapp, or Gangsta Frapp...we can all be Frapprs with the click of a mouse. It's that easy. Our stats tell us that we have between 5,000 and 6,000 individuals visit this site each day so we figured at least half of you would be interested in Frappring...our goal: 2,500 new Frapprs by Monday. Click HERE to get started.

Special THANKS to Christy for getting the Frappr started for our blog...You rock Christy! Now get in there everybody.

Lost noms:

Casting a Dramatic Series (though it sounds incredibly lame, this looks like it SHOULD be the equivalent of "Best Cast" in the SAG awards.

Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series: For "Man of Science, Man of Faith."

Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series: For "Live Together, Die Alone."

Outstanding Editing (for single-camera): For "One of Them"

Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series: Henry Ian Cusick as Desmond (this is GREAT! Esp. considering his fate is up in the air)

Outstanding (single camera) Sound Mixing: For "Live Together, Die Alone (Part 2)."

Outstanding Special Efx for a Series: For "Live Together, Die Alone (Part 1&2)."

Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series: For "The 23rd Psalm" so yea for Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse!

Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series: For "Live Together, Die Alone." Yea for Jack Bender.

Okay and there are others but the confusion between Single-Camera Picture Editing and everything else is annoying.

But it IS very political and varies with the amount of $$$ put into a campaign. They also changed the rules this year for who votes for what category so a lot of people woke up unhappily this morning. If there was an award for "Outstanding Mystery-creation" or "Outstanding Tension-creation" then it'd all be there.

At least frickin' "Desperate Housewives" didn't get rewarded for it's suckiness nor get validated for considering itself a "comedy."

(LONG LIVE ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT!!!)

Yeah, the shut out in all the big categories (especially Best Drama, which it got last year) really is too bad.

Well, I guess we have to take a deep breath, accept an error and get on with it. Let TPTB lead us on and, hopefully, we'll get all the answers to those 12 questions! Looking forward to every day of this "Experience."

Thanks David and Daniel!

I came across this on the web with a possible solution to your forbidden error problem.

1. Open an Internet Explorer browser.

2. Click on the Tools menu and select Internet Options.

3. Click on the Advanced tab.

4. Scroll down through the list of check boxes until you find Java (Sun).

5. If there is currently a check mark in the check box you will need to
remove it, close any open Internet Explorer browsers, and move to step 9. If there is NOT a check mark in the box then you will need to place a check in the box and move to step 6.

6. Once you have placed a check in the box for Java (Sun) click on Apply, click on OK, and then close any open Internet Explorer browsers.

7. Repeat steps 1-4 to open the Internet Options window.

8. Remove the check mark that you placed in the box for Java (Sun) click on Apply, click on OK, and then close any open Internet Explorer browsers.

Now try getting on to lostpedia again.

I had accepted that helgus antonius was either one of two things. I personally didnt check the conversions but I presume who did was being honest.

1. Holy Flower (or Flower of Life).
This would fit in with the DJDan thing (and other things?) and if it was the case then it isn't a clue as such. More of an Aaah as we see this coming into play now.

OR

2. Saint Anthony. Someone said it translated into this and that St. Anthony was the patron saint of "finding clues". Which would mean it is just a teaser of some sort.

I am off to try and verify these.

7/07/2006 10:17:00 AM

marcus: i do not see how wiki user helgus' work is related to the the work Valenzetti did. Valenzetti's work is about mathematical modelling to determine the time at which a given outcome will occur. Helgus' work appears to be based on statistical independence.

3. It would be interesting if Mittlewerk was her dad! Dun dun duuuun.
5. No.
6. Tonya Jefferson holds a Ph.D. in Communications from USC'S Annenberg School of Communications. Mother of two, she is often found reeling DJ Dan back into orbit with her patented DJ Dan Double Strength Tractor Beam. And if that doesn't work, she uses powdered donuts. Duh
BTW, I think the "other woman" in the rachel recording is probably the WWC (?) that is "in bed" with Hugh
7.1. Yes

Back to the ship people were saying that the I in Antonious was just scrached and not lower case. But how could it be that square its almost a perfect square. Theres a pretty slim chance that the I was just scratched.

cam: look closely at the "i" it is not perfectly straight across, to the right side, the scratch is getting more narrow. most of the letters have some scratches in them, that one just happens to make the "I" look like "i"

Helgus Antonius. What does that mean?

What the hell is in those crates? Is this all part of the SPIDER PROTOCOL?

And, if so... was I wrong about the island near the equator? Is this place in the Mediterranean? Somewhere else? Where is Mittelwerk going???

Should we be trying to link some of this together? I know we can't really do more with Helgus, but was there anything in the Spider memo that would help us figure out where the ship is going or what's in the crates? Should we be starting to tie some threads together?
