Clue #108 - Fragment Code "44KU2VKQ" & Sign Language Clue

Fragment Code "44KU2VKQ" was hinted at yesterday on Ninja's Blog and was photographed and posted while we Americans slept.. The video fragment on hansoexposed.com is of Mittelwerk saying, "We all know what happened. The DHARMA Initiative failed."

Sign Language Clue
Remember the "nanite" glyph that we finally found on Trevtrevtrevor's Flickr page? His page was updated with a glyph for "Chocolates". The caption for the Chocolates glyph is "call tom k yegato". Also, if you go to Sublymonal.com and type in Chocolates you get "call tom k yegato"
If you type TOM K YEGATO into a phone, you get 866-593-4286. When you call that toll free number (as of 8/16), you get a recording in an English accent that says, "Sod off, I'm watching the tube." The recording will play three times, then hang up. If you then go to YouTube and search for "rblake" you'll find a video called "The Chocolate Factory" by CHARLABEELK which is another anagram for RACHEL BLAKE. In the video, there is someone doing sign language while wearing what appears to be a glyph t-shirt!

Several members of the community have been working tirelessly at translating the sign language. Here is a summary of what Trace, Kinetic, PhD, Pilferk, and KJ came up with: DISCLAIMER: Because of low video quality and the non-clarity/bad grammar of the signer (even to the "experts") and the fact that we couldn't see his face (important in sign language), this is a general consensus but not the end-all, be-all answer. There are some areas where translators have amicably disagreed, so we've used parentheses to show other possibilities.

"I am Mel, friend of Rachel. (Friend of Rachel - I sell Apollo Candy.) Apollo Candy conned Mittlewerk (or vice-versa) into having chemists run tests on...[unclear finger spelling]. Hackett found something important, but Mittlewerk wouldn't allow the results to be given to the competition (he hates the competition), they had a huge argument, and Hackett took...[more unclear fingerspelling] and found a new person to give the information to, who will distribute it. (something about giving away, reference to apollo bar giveaway?) I have to warn (help) people."

This is the best we've come up with so far.

Thanks to Lena, Lavenda, Gina, Dennis, Your Mother, Lucamu, Yuri, & Gerry for emailing us first with these exciting updates! Also thanks to Andrew, Brandon, The Lost Bird, Andres, ib4uc, Shannen, and Jason for emailing us more updates.

I hate this release glyphs but you can't enter them. It's not fair to the people who first spot them. They whole point of or part of the game has never been coordinated well.

Second point, the hidden 29th piece might be a game plan so that we find all 70 except for 29th... so they can continue the game... if they really wanted us to find it ... it would have been planted in a comments section... especially when we are getting codes bbefore glyphs.

So this isn't #29? damn!

8/17/2006 09:00:00 AM
Blogger pilferk said...

The problem is...it's small in physical size.

It also doesn't help that the guy has to fingerspell every sign that would normally use his head or face, because it makes for lots of extraneous fingerspelling that you wouldn't normally need to have.

Still working.

Someone mentioned a "slowed down version" If someone could encode it in flv and email it to me at pilferk@hotmail.com, that'd be great!

Once I'm done (or til someone beats me to it....hint hint), I'll post, in this thread, a summary of what we had in the last thread for translation.

After that piece, here's what I get:

Hanso found something important but Mittleverk didn't like it. There was a big struggle. Hanso disappeared with (something...scientists maybe?). He found a new place and gave "everything" in order to save people.

Something like that. Here's the exact signs:

Hanso found something importnat but mittleverk can't hate big struggle hanso disappear with [fingerspelling] Found new place gave away/everything need save people.

The fingerspelling piece almost exactly in the middle is giving me fits.

Oh, and the begining MIGHT actually say:

Friend of Rachel. Welcome [fingerspelling} apollo candy. First, to beat Mittleverk, we need to answer some questions on [fingerspelling}.

That communicator sign might be his "force" of answer, since answer would be a face sign. Not sure though.

That was my initial thought, too, kinetic (it might be posted in the last comments section) but it doesn't fit exactly into the context of the whole conversation. It's the literal translation, for sure..those are the exact signs there. But that's why I translated it a bit differently above.

The fingerspelling is still giving me fits. The problem is, like most interpreters or deaf people, he "drops" letters, blending the word together. So it's tougher to tell (given the size and resolution of the video) if he's doing THAT in the long middle fingerspelling part of if he's giving a web addy or a glyph code, itself. Grrr...gonna drive me nuts.

8/17/2006 09:53:00 AM
Blogger oxillini said...

wonder if maybe the email or web addy in the sign language that is giving pilferk trouble will be from whereisalvar.

Pilferk, good going! You mention "face"! Remember yesterday I posted about hidden stuff in 'The Beginning' at apollocandy.com, including some scripting stuff labelled 'face'!!!

Blogger pilferk said...

oxillini,

Nope, it seems to start with a 1 or a d.

Given the white glyph background, and the resolution, its hard to tell which. But it's definitely a "pointer finger up" sign.

Hanso found something important but Mittleverk didn't like it [or didn't like the competition]. There was a big struggle. Hanso disappeared with (fingerspelling something...scientists maybe?). He found a new place and gave "everything" (or gave everything away?) in order to save people.

And the end of the string of fingerspelling doesn't look like -ndy to me. It looks like it ends with a "d" or a "1". But I agree, it does look like it starts with def, or something like that.

Otherwise, I can see your points. The "first"/"only" thing is tough to tell for me. It looks like a wrist twist, more than a circle/establish but given the quality and such, I can understand the difference. I think you're probably right.

The "impact" thing I've seen used in slang as "defeat", but you're right, the literal translation of the sign is "impact".

I can see the "chemists" rather than "communictor", for sure. I think that's a better translation. As is the "performing tests on".
