Clue #113 - Fragment Codes "25KOCJS6S6" & "FRXRUK9TQ"

Fragment Code "25KOCJS6S6" can be seen in the background of the flash intro for valenzettiequation.com. The video fragment is of Mittlwerk saying, "The villages of (?) and (?) have allowed us to test our vaccine on them."

Fragment Code "FRXRUK9TQ" was found via the hacker from thelostexperience.com. The hacker's many clues led us to check the subdomain grendel.thelostexperience.com. There was where we found what appeared to be a blank gif but when the contrast was adjusted, we found this glyph. The video fragment is of a guy asking, " These are people, innocent human beings, and we're just..." Then Mittlewerk says, "If you knew with mathmatical certainty that you could end all famine, war, and poverty, what would you do?"

Thanks to the insider, dazzedelf, Marc, and topcat24 for emailing us about this code!

my thinking is that the island was a thriving tribal land before the DI came along. the natives built the statue of the 4 toe foot. but in order for the DI to be conducted without interruption, THF created a virus to kill all the natives so they wouldnt get in the way. maybe the vaccine wasnt a vaccine. it was the full virus.

8/22/2006 10:09:00 AM

they then quarantined the DI workers in hatches while the virus laid devastation to the former communities.

GCWH PIFHGUV QVWP YSH ASDDUK is enciphered using a substitution alphabet.

This means that to decode, you take the following table:

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
C*HL*NTSO*D****MG*A*ERI*W*

And plug in each letter to get its decoded value.

This frag is an intriguing addition to the TWM sequence, in light of everyone's theories (n.i.k., etc.). Maybe they give the predicted doomsday-super-virus to the villagers and then test their new vaccine on the infected folks to see if it works. [E.G. the X-File consortium testing their black oil vaccine in the same way--infect/vaccinate] Perhaps they told the villagers that it was a two-part vaccine as well, and not tell them that part one was the infecting phase (i.e., keeping up the story). OR (as alluded to by the coughing in the audience) have they secrectly infected the audience (secretly because they are not sure if the vaccine works yet), who will then be shipped via the steamer to the island, infecting the villagers, and they will then supply the vaccine to the villagers after they are infected (and to themselves as well)? Perhaps the orientation audience is being duped in the same way that the observation hatch people were duped? E.G., you are going to do this to someone and observe them, when in actuality, we are doing it to you! Ow, my head hurts.

Okay guys...we've got to solve this TLE thing. It's on full force:

From their earlier source code:
"Solve this riddle to find my name. My name is the key, but the lock will appear at a time of my choosing"
"GCWH PIFHGUV QVWP YSH ASDDUK"

From today's source code:
"The lock is ready. Bring your key. The light of truth awaits."

What do we do now?

8/22/2006 11:40:00 AM
Blogger The Penuels said...

The general consensus is that the cryptogram "GCWH PIFHGUV QVWP YSH ASDDUK" trnaslates to "This monster grim was called", a quote from Beowulf that refers to the mythological beastie Grendel. So this could be Gee's "name", which is the "key" to open a lock we haven't found yet.

Email #1
Greetings. I know there are numerous attempts to incite false tangents within the game, but please understand that this is not my intent in the least! This is very important and it provides an answer to a key component within the game. After much researching, it seems as though no one has stumbled across this yet. In the spirit of the game, and because this tidbit is so revealing, I will present an anagram in order for you to find out the truth. Please remember, this is not false hope. There is a large bit of revealing information behind this anagram. If you so choose to post this, I will be monitoring your progress.

"A sibling so arm"

As a clue, I will say this translates into one less word.

Namaste,

Email #2: Our Reply
Newbold,

I can't believe I'm saying this...but I think I may trust you. I wanted to let you know that I need to wait to consult with the other admins of TLEC before I can post your anagram. Can you wait until morning at the latest? Also, I know you may not be in the business of answering questions but can you tell me if this has anything to do with the hack of thelostexperience.com?

Thanks for trusting me with your intel. I will do my best to solve this clue.

David

Email #3
Many thanks for such a quick reply, David! By all means, take as much time as you need. You are the blog administrator, after all! I will tell you that my intel has nothing to do with thelostexperience.com. My information relates directly to the interworking of the game. As I said, I will keep tabs on everyone's progress and if someone stumbles upon this info through other means I will immediately notify you so that no further time is wasted on my anagram. I'm not in the business of wasting people's time. However, as I said earlier, the payoff is quite interesting!

I hate doing this stuff in the comments but I just can't post the "Newbold Steiner" stuff or the "OneTrueWay" stuff on the front page until it is confirmed as authentic. How to confirm is the tricky part we need your help with. :)

Everyone please read those emails and tell me what you think. We get fake stuff all the time but this for some reason had a different feel to it. I thought it was related to TLE at firwt but apparently its something different. It came from a yahoo account so it could be anyone:

Does anyone remember Global Paradigms? (www.globalparadigmscorp.com) That site doesn't seem to exist any more, but in the beginning we were wondering if it was in-game or not. (So, obviously not.) But there was a clue with a morse code on a site of a guy who worked there and his name was Michael Sontag. The code translated: EMAIL GRENDEL AT GLOBALPARADIGMSCORP DOT COM TO FIND HIS CAGE

The favorite book of Michael Sontag was "Beowulf". Meaningless? Probably... But if this was really just a fan-site, then they got pretty close ;)

ATTENTION DC APOLLO SHOPPERS:

I just got off the phone with the events coordinator person at Tyson's Four Corners.

Currently, noone at Tyson's Four Corners have nothing listed about the Apollo Candy Giveaway at the mall. They have not been contacted about the event no space has been reserved nothing. Their current statement is that if Apollo tries to set up a giveaway at the mall without prior consent they will be forced to leave. I told the person I spoke to try contacting ABC for more information because ultimately they own LOST and the ARG. I was told they if they are hosting the event the information will be posted on Tyson's 4 corners website. And that I can always call back on Thursday before making the drive on friday.

I talked to them yesterday and they were working on getting more info. I think the ladies name was Christine. She was very nice. I wonder if this is going to be done through one of the stores instead of the actual mall?

There is a Disney Store next to the Hechts, which is across from the Candy store. Plus I found out that the Disney store is owned by Hoop Retail LLC which owns The Children's Place.

It's hard to enjoy being a part of the game (for me, anyway), when random clues are found on completely public sites like flickr and youtube. I know it's a way of trying to make it more interactive and more realistic, but it's hard to know what to trust and what to view with a critical eye.

Well, I'm betting that the candy bars being handed out at the distribution sites will have a new code written on the actual chocolate bar, much like in that picture. Thoughts?
