Clue #115 - Fragment Code "0UJ2"

Fragment Code "0UJ2" was found on Channel 4 UK. Scroll down through the videos to "Burn a hole through the heart of the foundation" to reveal this GLYPH. The video fragment is of Mittlewerk saying, "...and they believe we are bringing them the cure."

As always, find all known fragment codes at Matt the Pale's Fragment Code List.

i dunno if Mittlewerk is the Kinda meglamanical fiend to go for the ol "world remade in my image" and that kinda thing, sounds kinda cliche for Lost. i think before we try to predict what mittle is up to, we need to see more of what he is truly like, all we have seen of him so far has him being a spokesman or talking to a group, weed to know more about him and what he is like. I for one am not concinved he is evil, i think atleast that he thinks he is doing the right thing.

I don't think it should be taken in such a literal, Genesis-style "make the world in [his] image" sense, but rather, restart things according to his vision, which is in fact "saving the world". I think TWM has been in this so long that the ethical and moral dilemmas involved in carrying out this process seem, to him, like small potatoes, because ultimately, he's going to ensure that humanity itself survives. The problem is that he himself is convinced that this may be the only opportunity, because whatever figure he's going off of that forecasts the end of the world says it's going to happen on xx-xx-xxxx; part of the plan involves hastening the end so that it *does* match the date -- this is the "mathematical certainty" he refers to in the film. He knows this will work if and ONLY if all the conditions (variables) are set properly to match the result, and the remainder of the plan is based entirely off of whatever certainty is achieved via the Valenzetti Equation.

So yes: still a self-fulfilling prophecy, still about TWM's vision, but, in his mind, what he's doing is altruistic, "for the greater good" type stuff.

I agree with Your Mother - with this latest glyph/clip I think it segways from looking between the boxes to looking thru the two hand holes. There is only one Mittlewerk speech, and it happens after the DHARMA video. If you think about it, this is not a bad way to make a speech. Everyone is ready, and lights go down, and you watch the video. Then the speaker walks out and says, "we all know what happened next..."

Two parts: DHARMA video, then Mittlewerk talking how he's screwing the natives.

Thoughts? Rebuttle?

Morning all.

Honestly, I've given up on piecing the TVM fragments in any kind of order right now, other than the first two that obviously attach to the end of the video.

Also, the AH clips that we currently have need some rearranging. If you notice, when AH first starts speaking about the island (7ti) the still has the white wall with the top of the picture in the background in the left of the frame. Later when AH speaks about dharma, (vix7zxt97) he walks from the white wall into the "grey" walled frames with the plant and dharma pic in the background. However, one of the newer clips (vaccine) that speaks about the radio frequency and briefly shows a radio tower at the beginning of the clip has him against the grey wall. So, the older images of the island must be broken up in some way. Now how they are broken up... I have no idea - not enough information yet - but clearly he talks about the radio frequency after he explains about dharma.
I'll keep playing with the order, but I think we need more clips... so go find me more glyphs! *winks*

btw - nice meeting all of you and keep up the good work.

Great thought on the presentation, kiddoc. What's interesting to me is that I never noticed all the confused murmuring right before TWM says, "We all know what happened...". Clearly there was *something* unexpected in the orientation film that a significant portion of the room did not know about...perhaps most of the film? I know if I were to be shown such a thing, and without any preface or context, as you're suggesting, I would be making the same sorts of sounds.

8/23/2006 09:58:00 AM
Blogger octavian said...

btw - kiddoc, I agree.
I see no reason why the TVM part of the video would be broken up in any way (i.e. before and after the dharma tape they watch). But there is still not enough information.

The thing that makes me believe that they are NOT broken up is the subject matter. His speach and logic flow together well and seem cohesive for the most part (from what we have so far), and as far as I can tell, would seem to make less sense if they were split up. Again, not enough information yet to be certain.

N.I.K., "hastening the end so that it *does* match the date"...I like that! And about him being convinced that this may be the only opportunity, is a very interesting thought considering his intent on taking "radical action" now. Especially since the first attempt by the D.I. had supposedly already failed, for reasons unknown to us as yet. And that failure seems to have ticked him off if we can take that from his tone of voice in mentioning that point in the vid.

octavian,
I thought that too about the backgrounds, but there is one clip in which he is in front of both backgrounds, with no logical transition between the two. Look closely at 7hkbh--at first he is near the window; then the zoom in shows his face in front of the wall/framed picture that he walks over to in vix7zxt97... I really don't know that we can trust the backgrounds to give us definite proof of what order the clips go in.

kiddoc,

From the very start of this fragment hunt, I was of the belief that the video started with Mittelwerk, who then introduced the video, and then finished his speech after the video was over.

However, after the last couple of fragment that have appeared (especially this last one) I am now starting to think otherwise. Fragment #NZ59, which I had previously placed near he beginning of the Sri Lanka video, fits right before the lastest Fragment (#0UJ2):

"And they believe we are bringing them the cure." ..."So when you go in, you have to keep up the story."

There's still a chance that Mittlewerk intoduces the Orientation video first, but as of now that is looking like less of a poosiblity.

Oh, and one other thing, capcom...I too hear what you mentioned about TWM's tone of voice about the DI.

My question: is he ticked off about the failure, **or** was it of his opinion that the DI was the wrong way to go about attacking the problem and a waste of time? He sounds quite dismissive of the DI to me, much like he could say, "OF COURSE it failed! It failed miserably and predictably!"

And if so, could this disagreement be what lead to a rift between himself and Alvar Hanso, and this in turn what lead to AH's disappearance? Something tells me that such a radical shift in strategy would not play nice with the conscience of a man who willfully left selling weapons and munitions out of guilt and went on to do work that could genuinely *benefit* mankind...

I think it's clear from "theflashlight" that TWM is not just a mad scientist run amok... His sigh at the end conveys the frustration that he feels knowing that there will inevitably be casualties in their fight to save the world. Definitely an "ends justify the means" situation, but not one he's entered into blind of the consequences, it's just that he's learned to accept them.

He sure does N.I.K! I've also been thinking about his "mathematical certainty" ... in the scientific history of our world, theories and formulae that were thought to be on the mark have often been proven wrong as time goes by when further evidence is revealed with better equipment and knowledge. It would be pretty interesting if it turns out that the V.E. is discovered to be totally wrong and either TWM kills tons of people for no good reason after all, or that he goes ahead and does it anyway because the ball is rolling and can't be stopped. Or, that he can't face being wrong in his V.E theory and still tries to continue the project to completion because it will create a better world anyway (in his mind). I guess that I just completely agreed with Mr. Pale's theory after all. :-)

The Eureka series is looking good so far. Hope they don't jump-the-shark too soon. The 4400 is alright, but I fear that they J.T.S'd when they made the baby grow up overnight and become a woman who could do anything and couldn't die. Puh. I think that the Stargate channel, er...the Sci-Fi channel, will probably re-run the two Stargates forever. The Third Wave was interesting, I liked that one too. But Lost rules them all!

Eureaka is about this town full of genius scientist. They make all kinds of cool and freaky things that have a tendency to go out of control. The sheriff is the "every man" a US. marshall that literally came upon the town by accident. Good characters and itnerplay between the every man sheriff and the mad...err. genious scientist. :)

there is something in section 5 that is a mystery to be figured out in the show, don't think anyone really knows what it is yet but it will be a character of its own so to speak in the show.

We have to assume that TPTB know that non-players will be getting bars too, so I'm thinking that if there are clues in the bars that there are enough repeats to cover things. Maybe the remaining 25 or so glyphs will be in the bars making a quick wrap up of act III and this rather boring glyph hunt right as they introduce WIA and act IV.

Wishful thinking, perhaps.

noblelawyer, thanks for alerting me to the circling star(s) on the Apollo site. They fit in very well with my theory about Sirius, since the tiny Sirius B revolves around Sirius A. It's interesting to note that a photo of Sirius (A & B) was included among the images in the psychology testing video.

I also got quite a kick out of the Ask Javi film in which his dog says that one day Javi will call him Master. The Dogon tribe in Mali believe that amphibious beings from Sirius called Nommos visited their ancestors thousands of years ago, and taught them everything they know. The Dogon call the Nommos "Masters of the Water" and the "Master of Speech." In the film, Javi talks about how his mind SWIMS with questions, and that he's a STUMPed man. The Nommos are supposed to return one day, and that day will be called The Day of the Fish. There is also a connection here with a fish-god called Dagon. (Google for "stump of Dagon.")

The kicker is that the Dogon tribe is, according to legend, descended from Jason and the Argonauts, which is why (in my opinion) "Lost" is chock-full of Greek mythology. Anyway, I've outlined much of my theory at http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/lostdogon/ if anyone is interested. Thanks again.

Anyway, to pick up where we left off -

Nitesea -
I disagree.
The picture in the (what I'm calling) "grey-walled" frames is higher and to the right of AH. In the "white-walled" frames where he stands near the window the picture is lower and to his left. Also the picture (probably a framed document, really) in the white-walled frames has a wider patterned matting behind it. At the very end of 7hkbh, you can see the pattern of the matting below the frame of the picture, meaniung the picture is lower and to the left. It's a close-up shot of AH's face where he was standing at the beginning of the clip - still against the white-walled background near the window.

kiddoc - nice job. Obviously, nothing is set in stone at this point, but your order seems pretty much correct as far as I can tell.

Anyway, on to more important things, like whereisalvar.com. *winks*

btw - post about those Apollo giveouts in the US, I'm gonna try and stop down at the Philly giveaway on the 9th, and want to see if I can get an idea of what to expect.

I don't know if everyone has seen the post above stating that there is a statistics page for the whereisalvar.com page, but here's my guess from what I see there.

People will get some sort of code with their bar. They'll enter it online and it will let them know if it's "golden" or not (hence normaltotal and goldentotal).

It would be awesome if a golden bar gets you a trip somewhere (back to Charlie and the Chocolate factory) instead of just something online.

BTW, does anyone know how we found the statistics page for the hansoexposed site? I must have missed that.

Also, if there's something worth tracking in the new statistics, I'll either add to or create a similar utility to my Fragment Checker.

Oxillini, I'm only entertaining the possibility of AH having had 100% noble intentions in starting the DI, because from what we can see thus far, the orientation film mentions both the VE *and* doing research in facilities on the island. I'm not saying he isn't/wasn't slighlty cracked, but there's been nothing to suggest that he planned on doing anything questionable or unethical, whereas w/ TWM, we know that he's planning on jeopardizing the lives of other human beings in order to achieve a particular vision (which I still think is meeting the parameters/variables of the VE that result in the figure he's set on and thus opening a window of opportunity to save *some* of the human race and starting anew).

This view clearly stands a chance of being changed, but it's looking less and less likely as we get further along in the footage. This orientation film w/ AH, unlike the others, seems genuinely earnest, and his concern seems sincere. TWM seems bent on being right and insisting that there are no other options, and when you behave like that, there's usually something about your efforts/beliefs that is in fact highly suspect and questionable.

We could also argue the point that AH and TWM serve as good foils to each other and contrast heavily from the perspective of the writers, but that's maybe stepping a bit too far outside the game. :)

maybe it's just someone testing or something.... 3 codes, one user... 3 different "location names"?... strange.. wish we knew the location of these images.

what the location name supposed to be?

maybe the url isn't a straight "www.whereisalvar.com" maybe there is more after the .com we don't know about yet.

nick: not just you... we're all blank.

ox: didn't see that about minnesota... musta skimmed over it.. that's great!

So there are different "images" for each code that is entered?... wow... I wonder what that means? maybe a giant puzzle?... i'm so eager to have this thing go live so some of these questions can be answered...

Hi all:

New york checking in. One ofthe joys of being a self employed lawyer is that I can get away to be there at 5:30. The nice lady at Park Avenue Country Club tells me the the ESPN event goes from 5:30 to 11 (it is an ESPN Fantasy Football Draft, I signed up for that too, in case we need to get inside to get the bar).

I will e-mail in if possible from the site, if not will report in when I get home (assuming one of our other intrepid conspiraspies hasn't beaten me to it)

I fyou are going, look for me, 6', beard, mustache, dark blue sport coat, navy blue shirt, jeans. Would love to meet other members of this illustrious blog.

Howard

Niccam is an anagram for Mac, inc., so he must be in computer sales. Or Macaroni sales. Someone contact Kraft and Velveeta and find out who this guy is.
