Clue #97 - Fragment Code "5BE" and a "heads up" from Ninja

Fragment Code "5BE" was found today on the UK Channel 4 website. There is a cycle of ads on the right hand side of THIS PAGE for the UK Big Brother program. If you don't see it at first, refresh the page until you do. The video fragment is of Mr. Beardy saying, "Through your research, you will help..."

Also, for our Australian players, Ninja has updated his blog and it looks like there may be another glyph released in a physical location in Sydney! Head over to Ninja's blog for details!

Hello, all!

My theory on the elusive #29 is that it's in the magazine article/ad that Speaker referred to in ITE that was supposed to be published this week but wasn't.

Also about Dr. Hacket and the virus in the carbonated beverage/candy bar. A manufactured virus can be called a nanite. Maybe that's obvious or has been discussed already.

Finally check out this website! http://www.betterhumans.com/ Creepy and very Hanso-esque. Not in game but describes cutting edge science including nanotech.

I don't think #29 is in the EW that speaker mentioned - because it wasn't "published" at the same time the People one was. It was published yesterday and the EW won't be out until Friday.

Yes, but Speaker had expected them to be released at the same time, and something happened where it got bumped back, supposedly to next week's issue instead. So it could be TPTB expected and planned for it to come out in EW this week and went ahead with the glyph release under that assumption

Found these interesting definition from Encyclopaedia Galactica.

nanite:
generic term for a molecular or nanoscale device. A nanite may be biological (bionano) or mechanical (dry nano). The latter are also called nanobots.

Also:

viral nanotech: Nanodevices infiltrating other systems, making them construct new copies of the devices and possibly fulfill other functions. Also called infiltration nano and shadow goo.

viral nanotech:
Gengineered virus used as crude bionano, or as bionano vectors

---

So there you have it, the black smoke is not *nanobots* and nanites can be viruses.

Don't know if someone has said this but i thought it up, but i am sure its not an orginal idea.
They said the Numbers will be explained during this whole shindig. I am assuming its going something to do with the Valenzetti Equation they have been kicking around. The equation was used to predict how much time untill man destorys the world, or something to that effect so what if the orginal equation announced that there was...

42 years 23 months 16 days 15 hours 8 minutes and 4 seconds.

I Know its backwards but still. Don't you think that combo of numbers, if they announced how long this planet has left, would be cursed? Just an Idea.

Mike campbell that would be sort of cool if that was the time that the world ended :42 years 23 months 16 days 15 hours 8 minutes and 4 seconds as the Valenzetti Equation predicted

8/09/2006 03:11:00 PM
Blogger Capcom said...

Mike, I don't know about the numbers being cursed, but I do agree with your concept of there being that specific amount of time until the "end", which is what Mr. Beardy says in the vid about the prediction. But what about the variables? Don't the variables ever change the equation, which is one of the possible reasons that the savants had to keep running the equation loop....for entering the variables that may change every day, e.g., who's got the uranium now, who's greediest today, who just bombed who this morning, is Castro dead yet, etc.? Would the numbers/equation still remain the same after all these years since it was first conceived? Or did the equation somehow stop at a fixed point after certain events reached an apex, such as, now anyone can get the bomb, etc.? Just sayin'. I'm getting OCD about this, yipes.

8/09/2006 03:13:00 PM

Mike, lets keep trying with time groupings, like 4 decades, 8 years....but 15 months doesn't work there either, although you see what I mean. I think that we can assume that they would run everything down to the lowest form of any fractions, not allowing more than "eleven months" as an equation number as we've noted, but maybe we can work it out. I think that we can count out using centuries as points in the equation of course, or there would not be the immediacy that seems to be the case with the project. Is there any other standard of marking time or dates that we can look at, like old Roman or Viking (since so much in this story is Scandinavian?) or something like that? Just grabbing at probably useless straws here. :-)

Dr., by using another type of calendar, I mean using one such as old calendars with a different number of months in the year, and days in the months, etc. Or ancient star calendars. Anyone check out if there is an Atlantian calendar? Maybe since there seems to be twists of the ancient in our story and theories, and we haven't narrowed down an equation with our contemporary calendar yet, it's possible? Maybe we should be using some old Chinese calendar, since Dharma elements seem related to the I Ching? There are differences in the old Roman calendar to ours and Valenzetti is Italian. Who knows, maybe he used that? Just trying to think outside the box here, in case that's necessary.

How do we know that #29 has not been found? Are the glyphs numbered somehow?

8/09/2006 04:16:00 PM
Blogger ccs said...

I don't think the numbers are "produced" by the equation. I think a result is produced by the equation, that was translated into a date/time, 4/8/15 at 16:23:42. (Not my theory, has been posted many times before.) It just doesn't make sense that any equation would generate multiple "scales" of response (like an answer in the "years" column, and an answer in the "minutes" column). Instead, we would get something like 17,000,000,000 seconds, which when added to a "current" time yields "the numbers".

This is why an army of savants is repeating the equation over and over. You can try to change the world situation, but there is no other way to ever tell if the "number" has changed except to run it again "now". And so far, it is always the same.

Maybe Hurley's friend wasn't just repeating the number over and over -- maybe he was recalculating the equation really fast, and always getting the same answer!

8/09/2006 04:18:00 PM
Blogger Thrasher76 said...

We just use the number as a slot of when it was released...so no 29 as of yet...

Here's another bizzarre nano entry on Nanobones

"A bionano process whereby portions of a subject's skeleton are converted into bionanocomputers, using bionanomachines, which run off the subject's blood supply, just like the rest of their organs. These alterations avoid the bone marrow, so there is no effect on the subject's blood supply, instead taking place in the 'dead' parts of the bone. ... The Nanobone modification often also includes other augmentations, such as stronger bones, faster healing and so on."

it looks like some kind of flow chart for a website. I see "-ers over a product" then "2.1 Product Info Hover" with some text next to it that's a bit out of focus and hard to read, tho I can see something's been crossed out in pen

There's also some scribbled notes that looks like they say "... clicking to # of products" next to typewritten words "User clicks"

couple things:

ARG monitor says there was a change at hansoexposed.com 1.5 hrs ago. Can't see anything though.

Came across a strange song on C4 (following links from Other Girl's blog), can't make out the words though.
http://www.channel4.com/fourdocs/rush/rush-detail.jsp?id=501
"Strange Lands (Whispers)" by James Robinson (yeah right...), Pop/Love song...Lost his lover...Calling out to her over the sea. Categorized as Architecture, Landscapes, Nature, Objects, People, Travel and transport, Religion.
Perhaps someone else could try listen to it.

re: trevtrevtrevor's public groups are * Moleskinerie (1914 members) and *urbanbuzz (1 member > him)
Googling "urbanbuzz" gets you to www.urbanbuzz.com/ which only contains the words search.find.discover.connect.enjoy. and a clickable image which leads back to http://www.trevorsmith.com/
BTW: trevorsmith.com is entitled "Back to the drawing board" - mean anything?

The Google cached page of http://www.trevorsmith.com/urbanbuzz.html
contains some info including an e-mail and AIM addy. Looks to me like this web stratgist was hired by TPTB and required to clear all website content. The old site was entitled "Trevor Smith - Digitally inspired", so the "Back to the drawing board" could indeed be some kind of hint/clue.

oh my god,
more stuff from cached Trevor Smith page:
SmithKellam is a non-profit, think-thank, philanthropic foundation that studies/discovers future social conditions. The twist, is that we'd like to make those future possibilities -good and bad- relevant today through art and technology.

We will cooperate with futurists to create well-informed future scenarios that consider the social, technological, economic, political and environmental forces to articulate the possible effects of The Digital Divide, Cloning and the Internet - among others.

Then independent visual media producers will be selected to create video shorts depicting the scenarios.

Sounds wierd huh? Don't worry, you'll love it!

Technology has a funny way of both bringing people closer together and pushing us further apart. Digital communication - IM, email, mobile phone, chat rooms, online dating - provide us efficient, frequent opportunities to make contact with new people, friends and family. More and more digital communication results in less and less face-to-face communication.

But, we are social animals - we can only go so far down this isolating path.

So, think relaxing, open, unique, stylish, good food, exotic cocktails, with a splash of technology and you'll have what's next.

more:
Googled "The Digital Divide" Kellam.
Up comes a guy called Dave Kellam
http://eightface.com/2005/04/ending-the-digital-divide/
(Eight face > Bagua/Dharma logo has 8 sides/faces, right?)
Click on "Home".
Click on "Portable Park" photo gets you to his flickr account.
Click on Dave Kellam on the right.
First photo is two goofy desk figures "Mr. Grumpy" and "Little Miss Sunshine" (isn't there a new blockbuster?), the photo is entitled "Yin and Yang"!
There are loads of obscure and not so obscure pics, haven't been through all of them, but there is a LOST map further down, a small airplane, orange flowers on the first page (Title: Orange; reminds me of Mandrake blue stuff, blue and orange are complimentary colours).
Will check for more. This is weird.

yakobus1,
all started with realizing that the only guy in the urbanbuzz group was Trevor himself, so I googled urbanbuzz and found the cached pages.
The "non-profit, think-thank, philanthropic foundation that studies/discovers future social conditions" (smithkellam) must mean this stuff is in-game somehow.

i knew #29 had to be in the "real world"... why do the Aussies get to have all the fun? :(

Blogger Carol Dunstan said...

tapdawg, alas I won't be getting to the glyph... I'm a few too many hours north and family commitments...

I guess these real world clues kind of make up for us being so far behind in the screening of the episodes...

But my theory, and I know someone, maybe David/Admin touched on this before... and now that I think about it it's basically stated in a Q&A thing on the Fuselage... that in constructing this "game" the clues were devised, sponsors welcomed aboard and clues distributed amongst them to essentially put up how they wish... I hadn't thought of it applying to the glyphs till now, but I'm feeling more certain about it... unless Ninja calls on his Melb contacts that helped with the Bad Twin handout, real world clues in Aus will be restricted to Sydney I think.

Hmm, maybe next Thursday I should take off to Syd and hang in a net cafe till Ninja posts where the real world glyph has been spotted that week...

thanks for the info lavenda... you'd still think that speaker would listen to all those in the states asking for him to put them out in the world... or at least TPTB would... it's very upsetting.

well i think it should be noted that the majority of the people who emailed ninja photos of his poster were from the Los Angeles Area. I think it would be nice if in return for that the Los Angeles area was given a glyph to find. :^)
