Lost Experience Podcast 12 & More About "Nanite"

Welcome Melissa, our first ever female co-host on the podcast! In this episode, we chat up Apollo Candy, Rachel's tactics, Saving Joop (still?), and give you even more Lost Experience content to enjoy and/or hate. Stay tuned for another original song about TLE featured at the end!

Click HERE to launch iTunes, find our podcast, and subscribe.
Click HERE or HERE if you'd rather just listen in your browser or right-click and save the file.

More About "Nanite" (Mel0Drama & Dr. Hackett Re-Visited)
If you go to sublymonal.com and enter "nanite" as the code, you will get an audio message about flickr that defines what the site is. Also you'll see flashing in the sublymonal screens, a glyph with the frag clue "nanite" on it. So...if you go to flickr.com and search for "nanite" you see a picture of that glyph in gray. Click the image and it shows up larger with a message underneath saying "Search People: lehcarekalb" (which is "rachel" and "blake" backwards) Searching for that Flickr Member name and going to the photos, you see the nanite glyph again and a number of pics with torn up pieces of paper in them. When you piece them together you (roughly) get:

CONFIDENTIAL MEMORANDUM

TO: Dr. Hackett
Apollo Candy

FROM: G. Downs
Engineering Development Center
Atlanta, GA

Date: July 21, 2004

RE: Test Study

Dr. Hackett,

Initial research shows release of the psychotropic compound to be
a success. The acid and flavoring agents of the beverage disguise the
taste. More tests are necessary to reach optimum viral spread. My superiors are eager for you to join our effort, once you have extricated
yourself from your current situationn.

G.

Thanks to NiteSea & wadampar for emailing us about this and special kudo's to wadampar for putting together the letter. See the comments section for the previous post on this blog for discussion and initial responses to this memo.

dante, I agree. bellyOfdesire mentioned in the previous comments thread that it would be impossible to both A) anticipate the sublymonal/nanite/flickr connection and B) somehow forge that connection (unless you hacked sublymonal and/or wikipedia). It must be legit.

I didn't want to buy it at first but now I think we must...Very interesting.

Morning all!

I was thinking... What if the Hanso Foundation is not only trying to save humanity from Armageddon, but they also don't want to wait for it? What if these psychotropic substances can induce violent behavior in the persons who eat the chocolate, making them more agressive and predisposed to war?

Taken from Lostpedia:
Mel0Drama: I work in the archive of the Engineering Development Center. It was a punishment. I asked Hackett too many questions. But he never could have guessed... the ARCHIVE was the last place he should have sent me to work. I have the proof. The DOCUMENTS are all there. Sealed in a vault. Untouched by human hands. Ready to convict. And, I need you to help me expose them.

Me: So, why don't you just post your evidence here and get done with it?

Mel0Drama: BECAUSE NOBODY BELIEVES ME. They have to see for themselves. They have to see the documents. Sitting in the company vault. On the company mainframe. Please. It's a fair exchange.

Me: What is?

Mel0Drama: I'll hide your video, secure it for your users to access online. Password-protected. On a CORPORATE mainframe. Untouchable. All you have to do is tell your followers to go to my archive portal and hear my story... once they do, I'll place your video in the archive vault. They can watch it through my portal!

Me: No. Here's how I work. You host my video, keep it secure. If I'm satisfied people can see it, that The Hanso Foundation can't hack it, that YOU'RE not part of the Foundation yourself, THEN I'll put the word out to my friends to check out your "evidence" about Hackett and whatever the heck you think he's doing. Deal?

Mel0Drama: ... Deal.

Perhaps this is one of those documents held in the archive... but who released it? Rachel Blake or mel0drama?

For those who were asking, Kate ate the Apollo bar very early on in Season 2... she went down the hatch and was captured by Desmond, then Locke came down, Desmond put a gun on him and had him tie up Kate, whom he locked in the pantry. Before she escaped, she spotted the candy bars and indulged for a moment. I believe this was the 2nd ep of Season 2.

Here's something else that's weird about the possible Sprite/psychotropic drug connection.

Coke has been waging a major PR campaign in India to fight continuing rumors that its products contain pesticides. Why would they even in jest allow a hint of an improper ingredient during this ARG? If this memo is indeed really in-game, there's a marketing person asleep at the switch.

I agree with the confusion about why Coke would go along with an ad campaign that suggests tainted product. But the "something in the water" plot line IS consistent with the overall tone of the Lymon/Sublymonal messaging -- that Sprite has a secret ingredient that is mind expanding in some cool way. Perhaps we should be thinking about Hackett (and maybe THF, but I'm not sure) as engaged in a clandestine HEROIC operation. The hidden psychotropic substance nay be an engineered virus that has beneficial effects, or a protective countermeasure against something worse that's coming our way (Mittelwerk's bio weapons?). New Sprite, now with nanites!
