Clue #128 - Fragment Code "7C8R", Jimmy Kimmel Hint, & Fragment Code "XQGRMH"

Fragment Code "7C8R" has been found. The glyph aired after the most recent LOST episode on the UK's Channel 4. The video fragment is of Mr. Beardy saying, "We will be able to change those core factors and give humanity a chance to survive."

Thanks to jason_nufc04, Chezza, Nan, Tresbien, Neil, Matthew, Tom, Alec, and Lungbutter for being the first to email us about this code!

Speaker at insidetheexperience has hinted to us to watch Jimmy Kimmel Live this week. We don't know what could happen but we're not going to miss a chance to boost Jimmy's ratings are we?!

Fragment Code "XQGRMH" was found via a Speaker glyph hunt starting at whereisalvar.com and look for a pic of Speaker with a Golden Oracle. His shirt says "Jonah 61" so we assumed he was talking about the 61st fragment code and "Jonah" was a hint. If you head over to Jonah's myspace and ctrl a (select all) the page, you'll see a bit extra in his "About Me" section. Follow his clue and look at Reader Mail 11 and you'll see Macaulay Culkin posted THIS LINK! The video fragment is of Mr. Beardy saying, " "only by manipulating the environment, by finding scientific solutions to all of our problems"

Yeah, that was my first thought, too, in regards to the speech context. However, you're right in the camera zoom, so I looked at the captures on Lostpedia, and that's how I came to it preceding rgmr. I'm still not entirely sure on the overall setup with those segments, though, aside from what they've had in the Lostpedia breakdown.

Dumb question, is there an exact definition for woot? My 4 year old uses it but I think he just made it up. I was surprised a while back to hear other people using it! (He does have a different meaning though. :-)

Woot (alternately "w00t") is usually just an interjection of pleasure or satisfaction. It also is a reference to woot.com, based on the context. =)

That is, if 7c8r and rgmr go in that segment of the video. For some reason, the information in rgmr never quite sat well with me in regards to where Lostpedia has placed it in the video. I imagine it will be moved to later in the video once another segment or two are released.

rubber band ninja - I'm beginning to think you're right. I think it precedes the fragments that spell out the DHARMA Initiative. The positioning right after RGMR depends on whether you think the phrase he's speaking is declarative ("we will be able...") or dependent ("will we be able...") like at the end of a sentence that starts with something like "Only if we..."

I see the pertinent segment as running like so:

...RXMHJH9Y - blank - RGMR - blank - 7C8R - blank - 56LHZJDCL7A4...

That takes up a lot of our remaining empties....I'm having a hard time with this one.

admin - So, that could be Reader Mails Ten and One, or Reader Mail Eleven.

In the Bible, there is both a prodigal son (not named), the story of brothers Cain and Abel (wherein Cain kills Abel) and the story of brothers Esau and Jacob (wherein Jacob steals Esau's blessing, so you could call Jacob the bad son and Esau the good). There's also the movie "The Good Son," and that good son is named Mark Evans, played by Elijah Wood. No mentions of Mark, Elijah, Esau (or Jacob, for that matter), Abel (or Cain) or "prodigal."

...whew!

I think I figured out where glyph 64 came from. If you go to Speaker's blog, Reader Mail 11, one of the first comments from user "Macauly Culkin" directs to one of the Speaker comics, where the editor in cheif is listed as 'xqgmrh' which, of course, is our glyph code.

9/05/2006 06:42:00 PM
Blogger Scoutpost said...

In Reader Mail 11 there is a post by Macaulay Culkin who starred in the movie The Good Son (1993). The post has a url in it. Go to that- it's a comic strip. Code is at the bottom of the page. (fragment xqgrmh)

thinbluemime - You typed the code incorrectly in your comment. Make sure you're entering it correctly, as 7C8R.

jonahadkins - Yep! And I learned something interesting, if not mundane (can you have both at once?) about the show during (of all things) one of the main menu refresh screens.

The reason the Others don't leave tracks isn't anything mystical, otherworldly, or technological. It's because they have a sweeper following them. The menu screen features the scene where Eko and Jin hide from The Others, where they see the teddy bear on a wire. Those legs walking by are shown on the menu screen, except that once they all go by, another pair of legs comes through walking backwards, sweeping the path with a stiff palm frond. This wasn't in the episode in question. Kinda neat!

I was at my local library this morning (a very good and well supported public library, I might add)
I wanted to reserve a loaner copy of Lost Season 2 DVD's, so the libraian looked up the stats. Of course NO copies had actually arrived yet, BUT there were already 99 people on the waiting list, and the library had ordered 23 (I just noticed that number, LOL) copies of the Season 2 DVD set. Not a bad wait, but it illustrates the popularity of Lost. Instead of waiting, I decided to go ahead and buy, at Best Buy.

LOL, the only time I consistantly vote FOR a tax levy, is when it is to support the library system.

On another entirely different subject (I multitask at chat too) over at alt.tv.lost, tdciago & copeab have stumbled upon a Lost connection, that is totally new to me....I am really jazzed up about this because of its potential connection to Lost and Dante, and the dastardly workings of Mittelwerk. Here is the link, it is an open forum, so feel free to speak your mind.

It looks like Sublymonal's myspace has changed. Has the monitor always been there? I don't remember the copy button either. I noticed that Sprite has a myspace too that is different than Sublymonal's.

I like how you arrive at the VE meaning nothing. I agree, how else could they explain it.

As far as Hanso sponsoring Lost, do you think that there will still be a Hanso Foundation after the end of TLE?

I also wonder at the hints Doc Jensen gave that the Lost TV show has some hidden purpose for THF.

I've been thinking about the Valenzetti Equation, now and then.

I remember the climate in the late 1960s and early 70s. It would have been ripe for the Valenzetti Equation. The end of the world was coming. The big issues were global warming, nuclear annihilation, air and water polution, over-population, civil unrest, and running out of oil. Many people I knew ascribed to ZPG: Zero Population Growth. Everyone was sure that the world was going to hell in a handbasket. Who would have predicted the happy-go-lucky 1980s or the SUV gas-guzzlers of today? I knew people who had windmills in their backyards for when the power ran out. This is a different world. We've seen remarkable social and political changes since then as well as environmental conservation.

Is the VE a viable concept now? Are they predicting world-wide disease? Terrorism? Natural disasters? Countries rife with poverty? We've got all that and more now. And we keep on keeping on. It's a puzzle.

I watched in HD (well, the show really isn't in HD) on a 52# plasma TV, with zoom. And still there was not nearly enough detail to read it.

Whoever claimed the glyph did not do it by watching TV. I expect Speaker or someone to get one of those mysterious "emails" with a picture attached.
