Clue #134 - Speaker Special

Speaker at Inside the Experience, just posted the pic above (he had the image flipped). The filename is "ironman_1". Could this be a message from Rachel to "Iron Man" Malik? The hex converted to Ascii is: "rewsna ym wonk ydaerla uoy neht era uoy kniht i ohw tuoba gniklat eruoy fi nadjd ot ni llac uoy draeh ti si thgif eht ni uoy gnipeek si ecneicsnoc --m" If you read this backwords it says: "M--Conscience is keeping you in the fight is it? Heard you call in to DJ Dan. If you're talking about who I think you are then you already know my answer."

Thanks to Gerry, Twinkle, Dennis, and PeaceandNamaste for emailing us about this cool new clue!

We need that last bit for the "m -- c". Otherwise it starts with "onscience."

BTW, isn't it funny that TPTB (or whoever named the pic file on ITE, Speaker?) named it "ironman_1." Isn't that a fan given nickname?

RE Apollo Bars: Thanks to everyone who e-mailed me about having Apollo Bars to share! MissMegs has recovered from the initial deluge of e-mails and the random act of mischief her dog performed on her computer. She's taking e-mails at missmegs31@gmail.com with the appropriate information below.

IF you are going to SHARE chocolate you've already GOT, she needs the following info in your email:

Your name
Your "handle" (the screen name you want me to use on here)
Your location
How many bars you have/are sharing
**Whether you want your bar(s) returned to you or not**

IF you are REQUESTING that a bar be sent to you, she needs the following info in your email:

Your name
Your "handle"
Your location
**Whether you are willing to pay for your shipping**
**Whether you will be eating/keeping the chocolate or whether you are willing to send it on down the line after you get your photo**

Thanks again!

Maybe he is not saying "help"...maybe he is saying "Helgus Antonious"

FYSB: Wouldn't it be appropo for him to say, "but someone is going to hell for this?" LOL! Or maybe at least purgatory.

I think it could be "help" and Dr. Hackett is likely the person he's referring to. Wonder what Mittlework's doing now that Hackett's pulled out?

i hadn't thought about hackett. that's a great thought. earlier i was thinking david benson, but hackett makes more sense and ties back to our earlier clues.

how could be possibly have found them sooner? They weren't released sooner and there was absolutely no relationship between the time it took us to find them (only seconds at times) and the release of the next one. They were released on a fixed schedule...

On that note: Nice to see some Sat activity PTB!

Well I must say that this latest development blows one little theory that I had... that Rachel had contacted Malik and a meeting had been arranged between Alvar and Rachel... I had then thought that Alvar had funded the Apollo bar switcheroo and the payoff at WIA would be footage of Alvar (maybe the meeting with Rachel). Maybe instead it was Hackett that aided the Apollo bar remodel and distribution, and Rachel hasn't been able to contact Malik until now as distributing 70 video fragments was still at the top of her to-do list.

So if the WIA payoff was devised before Rachel sent this message to Malik, thus before any meeting with Alvar, what will the WIA payoff be? Will we get to see how Rachel got out of Sri Lanka? She's had Malik come to her aid, Hugh was kinda a good guy too, and we know Peter Thompson wasn't in full support of Mittelwerk, maybe it was PT that helped Rachel this time. Maybe we find out that Sri Lanka didn't go ahead?

meh... it's Sunday morning, I shouldn't be thinking like this.

Good questions, Lavenda! Rachel escaping isn't the burning question for me. It's Rachel escaping *with* the camera's video that surprises me.

Bad guy 101 says burn the tape first, interrogate later. But then bad guys are notorious for doing it wrong.

Maybe Rachel's been cooped up in a factory all this time while her helpers have been forwarding the Mittlwork Apollo bars to her? Then she carefully unwraps each one, replaces it with a whereisalvar bar before sending it on it's way to the original distributors. That'd explain why she's been so incommunicado.

Not sure if I'm joking or not.

the fact that she is onl y responding now, like a month later is just stupid. She obvioiusly doesn't really care to get help or consider the fact that by waiting so long malik has already gotten caught or killed himself. This is stupid.,

twinkle, you are so right! Bad guys on shows always do it wrong! They take time out to explain their evil mastermind plan to their captor, their captor gets away, and knowing their plans, can foil them ;-) OK, maybe I've been watching too much Kim Possible.

~~~~~~SPOILER for season 2 finale~~~~~~
If she delayed the release of the Sri lanka video, condemming that 30% of those villagers... then Rachel is no better than Michael taking off with Walt and leaving behind his "friends"
9/09/2006 05:30:00 PM
Blogger maven said...
Noblelawyer: Totally agree that this is stupid. Not life-like at all. While Rachel took her sweet time to get this video pieces out, 30% of the Sri Lanka Island population was dying. Appearing at ComicCon after she found out about Sri Lanka wasn't very realistic either. Now making us wait until the 23rd (maybe) is more aggravation.
Happy Saturday everyone - nice to see some activity on the weekend... although I have to admit I am not one for Weekend gaming as I have too many kids activities normally. Just stopping in for a quick post and update on the Apollo event in Lexington!
Apollo - Glad to have had the opportunity to meet TLCM and Dennis at the event, nice to meet others who's family looked at them as nutty too!!!
As far as the event goes, Dennis pretty much summed it all up well. My family and I stayed till the very end... Men In Trees is an okay show, but Ugly Betty was the better of the two premiers. We talked to a few of the TV workers at the end that were collecting surveys.. They thought we were nutty for driving the 1 1/2 hours just for the Apollo Bars. They seemed very nice. By the end of the Men In Trees premier the ABC guy with the extra Apollo bars was gone - disappeared into the night and took the chocolate with him.. how rude. Nothing LOST occurred, so Dennis, no you did not miss anything.
Wow.. think this is my longest post ever.
Hoping to be able to get my Apollo pics up on WIA by tomorrow or monday at the latest..
Well off and running again.. probably see everyone on Monday!!
(Update)
Since things have slowed down around here:
1) this is WAAAY off topic but
Did we ever end up finding all the pieces to the Gary Troup interview?
2) For all of you that have the Lost Season 2 DVD:
I'm sure some of you previously saw the UK Lost promo (if not, its on the S2 DVD). When I first saw it a long time ago, I thought nothing of it other than the fact that it was weird and didn't really have much to do with the show. But, watching it again (while going through the DVD special features) something caught my ear: the phrase "one of us is a cop."
I forget exactly when this promo came out...but wasn't it a promo for Lost season 1? And, am I mistaken, or isn't Anna-Lucia the only cop on the show? Does this mean we've been handed something about one of our core characters that we didn't know yet?
It took me a while to find it, but I went into the archives on the lost experience clues, and it looks like that was clue #34--I watched the You Tube video and saw it had been posted May 17, so I went back and looked at clues from May. The wording is an anagram for "The Mouthpiece" which I think ended up being a password somewhere. The archives of this site are great--it reminds me how many clues I have already forgotten and what a fun game it has been!
Hey Guys, I must restrain my excitment while I write this, but am hoping the sound gurus in here can help out.
Folks that know about sound and manipulating sound, have a good ear for identifing an unknown sound and matching it with a known sound, are the talents I hope, would help.
I am going way out on a limb here, with a hunch, so if this leads to nowhere, please be kind and don't roast me, ok? :)
The you tube "wave" video I posted a link to yesterday, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUqhga2ul-Q) ,
I have been examining and playing around with. Specifically the audio.
I know, seems the least important, compared to the video.
But I have taken the original DVD, ripped the video into an avi format, to make playing with easier. I then took the avi file and ripped or removed just the audio, and proceeded to speed, slow, change pitch and etc, to see what I could hear.
This first mp3 is of just the audio at normal speed, sounds like radio/TVstatic
http://www.lostdude.com/lostaudio/LO20NNT7240_2006-09-09A128kbps.mp3
Now, same audio as above, but slowed to 80 % of the original
http://www.lostdude.com/lostaudio/LO20NNT7240_2006-09-09ASLOWED8032kbps.mp3
I will not speculate as to what this sounds like to me, so as not to bias your opinion, but please listen and give feedback to what this sounds like to you trained ear. Each file is less then 500 KB
Administrators: If you consider this is way off topic, I will remove at your request, without offense :)
peaceandnamaste, I really want to say, but let's wait for more folks to listen, and voice their opinion. I will say though, I too, have never been very good at hearing the "whispers", and in this case that is not what I hear.
Thanks for your input, though. It is Sunday here in the States, and many folks are not here, prolly doing family things.
I will stay in "lurk" mode as long as I can :)
thinbluemime - Sounds like water sound, either lapping against the hull from inside a boat, or audio recorded underwater. The little blips and beeps sound a little like dolphin- or whale-call.
Not really sure if it means anything, or if it's just coincidental. Is that what you heard?
YES!!
Maybe others can confirm this after a listen, but I am hearing water, bubbles, and either whale or dolphin sounds OR both.
I wanted to wait a little to confirm what I heard, but like a little kid, it's hard to wait :)
and PeaceAndNamaste thanks also.....
Let's see if there are more folks that can confirm. BTW, I included the 128 kbps "original" static, so folks can manipulate in audacity or similar software, to see I aint makin this up :)
I think that sounds like water too. And I think maybe sonar? (blip sound)
Very cool, thanks for sharing!
I think you are right. Maybe even hear scuba diver equipment? Could it be divers using sonar and metal detectors?
Oh and thanks for sharing that video too! Not only do I NOT have cable right now, but dont have that DVD either!
thinbluemime - It feels a little graspy to try to make this connection, but I can't help thinking about the very strong fan theory of the underwater hatch. Given the scenes in the Season 3 teaser commercial, I can't help but get a little giddy thinking about the possibilities.
Yes, the 3rd season , the underwater tank from the old TV show Hawii 5-0 (?) is rumored to be employed heavily.
Giddy here to, for several reasons:
1) The one legged Aussie woman who told Hurley about Lenny and her Husband hearing the "numbers". Some folks may have fogotten, but the radio waves they were monitoring were.....LONG waves, as opposed to short-wave. LONG wave is used a lot underwater, when short waves are interrupted.
2)To Many to mention now...but the killer, and the implications are mind boggling.......the sounds in question were found at the end (?) of the chain of the LOST Character connections!!! I will not say more, but season 3 will be amazing!!
Thin blue,
Listening to the unfiltered audio, whatever is there is on a loop. It sounds a lot like somebody is saying "Jesus" followed by all kinds of static. As for slowing it down.. While a good idea from my perspective their are no filters on it in the first place. So slowing it down will alter the sound but that is not how it originally sounded. It think it's just static?!?!?!?
Blogger thinbluemime said...
passafist, the unfiltered audio, I will re-listen to, I missed Jesus (wink)
In the meanwhile, I recommend a visit to
http://www.whalesounds.com/home/index.html
and play around with the 12 or so sound bites.......if one listens VERY carefully, one might hear all sorts of LOST sounds......
Oppps, I said to much ...again LOL
nothing comes up in the usual translators. substitution code?
The punctuation doesn't seem to make sense for a substitution code. Could slashes be start of new sentence? Brackets are confusing, too.
yay Dante! I figured it out myself because I flipped the image in Photoshop and don't have never used a character recognition program so decided it would be faster to type it out myself, and in doing so noticed that the "words" were like whoever typed the message had their fingers one place to the right. And you got that wierd shift near the end too, sweet, I am not going insane :D Thinking about it now I think it is to signify a question mark (since the key on the right of ? is the "shift").
That'll teach me for taking Monday easy! Now let's see if I can type my word verification without shifting my fingers one to the left or right...
I found the name "de Zylva" interesting... "de Silva" is a common Sri Lankan name, but I have never heard "de Zylva".
But YAY for action! Nice to see Malik doesn't drag his heals in replying to a message
Maybe de Zylva was someone who helped Rachel get on the Helgus Antonious in Sri Lanka and helped her escape. He was someone that Malik referred Rachel to in Sri Lanka.
