Clue #135 - Ninja Special

Looks like Malik has replied to Rachel by sending a message to/through Ninja. His latest post contains this image which has been translated (see comments at the end of the previous post) to say, "R -- I think it's fair to say, whatever conscience I have was built on faulty equipment. This is a matter of duty. Loyalty... Speaking of which, I've been troubled by the very recent disappearance of an old friend, de Zylva. We all saw your Sri Lanka video. You were captured at the end, and yet, there you were, blasting those Lost producers in San Diego not a week later. And, I have to wonder... did de Zylva have something to do with that? Do you know what's become of him?"

Thanks to Lost Librarian & Gina for emailing us first. Plus, shoutout to Dante b/c we heard that he was one of the first to decode the message!

I bet this de Zylva is someone Malik referred Rachel to in Sri Lanka to help her. He got her on the Helgus and rescued her at the end of the video. Now he's paying the price, and Malik is worried. De Zylva seems like it's a common name in Sri Lanka.

Maven,
I agree...but we're in a tough spot. We don't want to create the expectation/feeling that we are ALWAYS lurking in the comments. During work hours and what not, it's much more sensible to have gmail open than to be constantly F5ing the comments. We try to limit our shout outs to people that email us. This is why we emphasize "email us" so much on the frontpage.

Do you understand?

Because I'm a softy, I'll probably give Dante a shoutout. :)

mityh & all,
As a rule of thumb, never assume that we are lurking. Administrating a blog like this is a 24/7 job but there are really only 3 of us working on it. We all have full-time jobs and relationships and there is just no possible way that we can be on everything 24/7. This is why email is like our LIFELINE...We depend on and appreciate our emailers sooooo much. Unlike Speaker/Ninja/Other Girl, we have NO inside information to assist us. We only have our brains and your brains. (P.S. Donn/Dazzedelf is the best emailer in the world!)

Don't ever worry about filling up our inbox. We get TONS of emails but we're very efficient at sorting, archiving, etc.

mityh,
"The Helgus" is the Helgus Antonious which is is a container/hospital ship, currently being operated by the Hanso Foundation. It departed from Sanremo in Italy on the night of July 6th 2006, apparently for Sri Lanka. Rachel has blueprints implying that sections of the ship are for quarantine.

thinbluemime,
When "de Zylva" is googled lots of links turn up Sri Lanka. Coincidence? No. I think "de Zylva" is probably a name native to Sri Lanka implying that he was/is a local HF operative loyal to Hanso (as opposed to loyal to Mittewerk). I get the feeling that there are a handful of "double agents" working within the HF around the globe that have some sort of informal network.

Evening everyone. What is the opinion of everyone about what's going on in Sri Lanka? Since we know Rachel got away, do you think TWM went through with his plans? At the very least, he has to be worried about what Rachel caught on tape and it about to show the world.

desperate,
Mittlewerk may not even know that Rachel has escaped...he probably knows...but maybe not. If she was snuck out and he was busy with his plans...

9/10/2006 10:40:00 PM
Blogger maven said...

Admin: If by "irregularity" you mean that a lot of this makes no sense in that Rachel took all this time to give us the video through hansoexposed, while TWM has probably continued to go forward with his plans. She sure wasted a lot of precious time getting the info to us!

Admin: Good point...thanks.

We still aren't sure that Rachel escaped. Are we sure Rachel hasn't been compromised? Could Mittlewerk have convinced her to join him and he willingly released her? This is a stretch but still a small possibility.

9/10/2006 10:44:00 PM
Blogger The Penuels said...

I don't know. Two months have gone by putting this video together. She was at ComicCon in mid-July after Sri Lanka. I know she feared for her safety and did this fragment thing to insure that the video got out securely. TWM sure gave me the impression that he was under a time-pressure in the video.

9/10/2006 10:54:00 PM
Blogger Amused2bHere said...

Admin, my thought exactly. I first thought oh yeah, she got away or else how could she show up at comicon? but then I thought what if now she has been won over and is now promoting the Mittlewerk agenda.

Maybe this exchange with M is TPTB telling us she is still antiHanso

9/10/2006 10:54:00 PM

Good thoughts...I think this exchange is also for the purposes of introducing de Zylva, explaining how Rachel got out of Sri Lanka, and beginning to lay the groundwork for the revelation of a modern day Alvar Hanso.

I'm not sure that two months is a long time for what TWM is doing. I'm no doctor, but how long do you think the virus/vaccine should take to have an effect? The disease must seem to "run its course", so presumably there is a few months to reach 30% mortality. And they need time for the post-mortem analysis too.

I miss something again?

Wow, it seems like Malick is spoon feeding Rachel the plot now.

This is where we get another piece of story that has no tension to it because we already partially know the outcome and once again we know it's ancient history. Still, I think most of us do want to know how Rachel escaped. Hopefully Rachel will give proper info now rather then more cryptc text responses.

Anyway, the only reason I could see for the slow leak out was that she was on board the Helgus Antonius, stowing away and hacking into a ship-shore connection. In that circumstance she may have to keep her connection short and I suppose she could have done the Comicon and set up the HE site before she got onboard. But then that doesn't really make a lot of sense since pressumably the ship is staying in sri-lanka plus she still went and did the WIA site in the middle of dripping out the video.

Anywhere else she shouldn't have had any trouble uploading the whole video quickly to multiple locations. Hanso wouldn't have been able to stop her. But I've said that one before. Rachel is a nice girl and all (and cute), but not the sharpest knife in the drawer. She *so* needs her own series where she solves silly crimes accompanied by small children (that do most of the actual solving).

So anyway what I want to know is what The Hanso Foundation has been doing over the last few weeks while Rachels been doing this. Obviously Rachel wasn't too worried about the 30% of those villages that were going to die. Her life was obviously much more important then all those people (and this is the good gal?). Unless she also already sabotaged those plans, so is that what we have now? The rest of act 4 or the beginning of act 5 is dropping out videos of something that is long over. Again, I want to know, but not exactly tense is it.

Cool, thanks Matt,

Well that neatly ties up how Rachel got out of TVM clutches, she no doubt caught a plane to Comicon.

It seems this stuff is just tying up the loose ends of Act III.

The question is what happnes now. Is it up to us to expose Hanso - I am tempted to send a few anonymous emails to Hanso and see what happens.
