Clue #137 - DJ Dan Update & thehansofoundation.org Update

Everyone take note that DJ Dan's next live broadcast has been changed from the morning of the 23rd to the morning of the 22nd. Head over to his podcast page for full details!

Thanks to Tresbien, FastenYourSeatbelts, Ryandrumz, and WickedM for emailing us about this important change.

TheHansoFoundation.org Update
Dixee noticed on the ARG Monitor that the Hanso Foundation website was updated today. Go to that site and move your mouse to the area just under the link to Mittlewerk's video and you'll see your cursor change. Click and press Control-A to select all the text. You will see "Pdeo eo jkp ukqn bwqhp. Wo ukq kjya odkqpaz wp pda pkl kb ukqn hqjco, sa'ra whh ckp 'xhkkz kj kqn dwjzo.' E fqop dkla iu bneajz eo naopejc awou."

Copy and paste it into this translator. Set the "Length of codewords to try" to 2 and click on "Analyze ciphertext". The resulting text will be "This is not your fault. As you once shouted at the top of your lungs, we've all got 'blood on our hands.' I just hope my friend is resting easy. Where are you? I'll need you to meet me in Norway." It appears we have a reply to Rachel from Malik.

Thanks to Dixee, Twinkle, James, Chas, and Dennis for emailing us about this latest message.

I wonder how many people got an apollo bar, and just ate it thinking it was nothing

Well...long story short...I know someone that is not playing the game, and got a Golden Orcale at the giveaway. They put the bar in the freezer, THEN asked me what the deal with the bars are, and what they "win".

I explained everything to them. They realized that the bar was valuable, so they were going to put it on eBay, but OOOPS, they "accidentally" rubbed off the code.

If it wasn't so sad I would laugh.

I think actually one of the things I'm looking forward to most about season 3 is more Desmond! Stupid, I know, with all the mysteries to solve. Guess I'm a sucker for tragic romatic figures. But he probably won't be around until after the first 6 episodes and the hiatus!

This is a terrible disaster.

Because one whinging guy couldn't listen to it live on the origional day, now loads of us have to miss it due to being at work.

How is that fair?

Well no way I'm calling a sicky and I hope this fails because of that.

Caving in to pressure. Unless Javi really is Jewish. Anyone know?

Even then I'm still angry as hell. I mean how many of us are at work at that time on a friday? It's 4pm to me. I will be working till 6pm.

I find Dennis' theories from the previous thread very interesting. Not crazy at all.
Valenzetti was a mathematical genius but never published. Perhaps he did fool the world. With him dead, the equation unpublished and thus not peer-reviewed, the UN Security Council may have buried it because it would have caused widespread panic. Hanso however decided to "pay attention" as he says, and poured his fortunes into bettering humanity and saving the world. Something went seriously wrong though - the incident; the missing scientists; Hanso himself missing; TWM at the helm probably making very wrong decisions...
Neither Hanso nor TWM are mathematicians or even scientists. They cannot prove the equation wrong and may be doing all they are doing in the blind faith that Enzo was right.

It'd be something else if AH was on Kimmel on Wednesday and explained the whole thing! If it happens I hope someone will put i on youtube for all us non-US folks.

TLE took off a Monday because it was a UK *bank* holiday. How could they not take off Rosh Hoshana (sp?). How would we feel if the did something important on Christmas or Easter?

Yeah it's unfortunate timing for all involved. I bet TPTB aren't too happy either because it will decrease listeners. But really, taking the broadcast off Rosh Hoshanah was the right thing to do.

MissMegs has that information. We're planning on doing some serial passing too (not to be confused with mailing Captain Crunch) so more than one person will recieve the same bar.

Based on my slightly informed information, she got over 350 requests for bars and we maybe have been offered 75?

I have another rant. Sorry guys. Just really annoyed by this. Twinkle, this is kinda in response to your comment, but please don't take me having a rant personally, I went off on a tangent and I am talking mostly to either myself or TPTB anyway.

RE: The previous one being moved - That was why they moved it? Sheesh. They really do plan this game around the idea that everyone plays it almost exclusively FROM WORK or that simply we are all unememployable bums. Lol, nice respect there guys. I would LOVE to have a live podcast on a bank holiday. But hey, maybe that's just me.

Actually I'd love a live podcast on Easter or Christmas day that'd be great. Sure I understand some people do have a problem, but what I don't get is they apparently have either decided this game is played by more Jews (with or without jobs) then it is non-jews with jobs. Either that or they just consider a Jew in more important then a non-jew that has a job. Whatever the case I find it disrespectful to myself and not very fair.

I also don't think it could be justified by the way they made the same mistake before. Just because there is a precidence in injustice doesn't mean that it's right that they should repeat said injustice. Besides I'd say it is different this time, given the time of the podcasts before I don't see how the change really inconvenienced the majority of people. Wasn't it like 11pm in the US? See, I know the current change basically means many in the US will be at the start of their working day and the UK at the end of it. Correct me if I'm wrong though, was anyone majourly messed up by the change last time around?

Sadly, like I missed the UK glyph hunt because of it being on a week day while I was at work, I will also miss the podcast.

Anyway, I am fed up with it. To dangle a good time, weekend live podcast in front of me, when I would be up, awake, alert and relaxed and more able to come up with something interesting to phone in with (if indeed they put me on again anyway, I wouldn't mind either way but I certainly would try) and the SNATCH it away from me and put it at a time when I can't even listen live and will miss all the excitment....

Well, to be honest I think I may cancel ALL the remixes now on principle. I just don't care anymore. :(

I'm going for a sleep. Maybe I'll change my mind once I'm rested but right now I'm tired, angry and still have my hang over from this morning. Not a good state to get this kind of news.

I don't mind DJ Dan changing the podcast from a religious holiday. But why pick a time and day when so many people are at work or school?

Since I have no speakers at work I won't be listening live. And DJ Dan is my favorite part of the game.

I think TPTB made the right decision to move the DJ Dan live podcast. I try to keep the game in persepctive. I'm not Jewish but I can appreciate the importance of a holy day. Friday morning is not convenient for me either. Neither was 2 am. Are they having issues getting the studio? Maybe that's why they aren't selecting reasonable times.

Hi Guys

Back for the second time today.

You know I am sure the reason for the change in the date of the podcast is something we havn't figured, a technical reason or maybe DJ Dan (ie Javi) suddenly remebered it was his wedding anniversary or something. I don't think TPTB intentionally put it on a Jewish Holiday, nor do I think they moved it because of the Holiday. It is quite possible they were not aware of the date. I consider myself pretty educated when it comes to other cultures but I was not aware of the relevence of the23rd.

Both Lost and TLE are global and the great thing is that we have a real mix of people and cultures, however because of that you can't stop that for a relious holiday. Think About it, get a Calander and start filling in all the major religious holidays - Chrisitan, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, Sikh, Buddist, Shinto all with different traditions within them. Then what about all the minor faiths Mormons, Zoastrians, Rastafarians, Pagans like me... TLE would play about one day a year.

Yes OK the odd date, maybe 9/11 is pretty sensitive for Americans of all cultures and creeds so something involving an aircrash may be inappropriate on that day, beyond that it is up to us all to make our own choices of what is important and what is not. I would thought on a scale of 1 to 100 a religious holiday may score pretty high and DJ Dan pretty low for most people but what is an important event for one person is just another day for another. Im not for example going to miss by Kids Birthday for anything, Lost or otherwise but I don't expect anyone to pander to me and change stuff to suit me, I have to chose my priorities.

I would hate to see this forum drop into a religious slagging match, to a lot of you your religion is pretty damn important I'm sure whilst I'm sure others of you are happily agnostic or athiest. Me I'm really into interfaith dialogue but this ain't the place. I get scared too when people start bringing up the Nazis in conversations like this. I have friends who survived Nazi concentration camps and others whose parents or grandparents served in the third reich. We have to move on guys and not blame people today for the errors of their forbearers.

ANYWAY - I'll stop ranting now, I just care a lot for this place and I'd like to see it stay the way it is Lost and light banter.

Okay working on the assumption that the last rumour I heard is correct...That would mean the problem is Jamie (Rachel) is Jewish and TPTB of course just figured that being a young ambitious actress she'd be perfectly happy to ignore her own religious beliefs for the sake of the job. Fools.

If that is the case, I'm totally with her for refusing to work. This isn't her fault. Indeed if any of the people needed for the podcast are Jewish then that is a fair complaint and it's TPTB's fault for messing it up in the first place.

However it still doesn't explain why they have picked a time (indeed shifted it by one hour! Like what is that gonna do?) where most people in the UK will be either working or at college and most people in the US will either be asleep or getting ready for work/college and not able to get involved.

That means the live Podcast will be largely dependant on the Ozzie contingent staying up a little late (but not drastic by any means) to even get anyone there. Well that and of course the unemployed players. I often wonder, they way they've set this up if TPTB think all lost fans are unemployed (or unemployable). Just makes ya feel warm and fuzzy inside doesn't it.

There is no logic to the timing of this.

Still, I find I can't be angry at Javi, Jamie, "Tonya" and "Johnny". So I will no doubt listen to it all after the fact and just continue to be gutted about it.

But mark my words TPTB, I'm training my zombie hoard to track you down as I type....

Good morning, all! Welcome, ocki!

Blogger Chris Procter said...

Hi David/Admin

Yes I am in the UK, The Second Series of Lost is still airing in the UK and we get the season finale in a few weeks, so I am not sure when we will get Season 3. I imagine about 6 months after the US and Canada as that was the case with Season 2.

However, a lot of Lost fans in the UK will torrent the show and so will watch it within a day or two of the US Air date (I'm currently doing that with Prison Break). There also seems to be quite a culture of DVDs of downloaded US TV shows being passed around in the office between friends etc.

I imagine the really keen UK fans will join in on the main thread as they will be upto date. I certainly will, a seperate UK thread is a good idea but I don't think the Season 3 air dates in the US will coincide with the US air dates.

I must admit I kind of like the way things work at the moment. In the Morning (for me) there is just us Europrean guys and then as the day moves on the Americans and Canadians come on line and later still the Aussies and Kiwis.

Sorry for the delay in repling - I had one of the company directors in my vicinity!

About Malik's latest post being fake or a trap...
I just figured Malik had access to hacking THF.org since he is an employee of the foundation. I'm not sure why he would assume Rachel would be looking there though? It is interesting how quickly they responded to each other...apparently each one of them monitors Speaker's blog, Ninja's blog, and the Other Girl's blog on a daily basis. Why would he expect her to be monitoring THF.org? Maybe they just keep up with the ARG monitor? Maybe they just keep up with TLEC and know that we'll post about anything important! We know Rachel likes TLEC b/c she entrusted us with a glyph. I wonder if they'll offer a piece of conversation on our blog?

dark angel,
I thought it might be interesting to do UK & Australia posts separately for their air dates. I would love going back to re-discuss episodes with people who just watched them for the first time. A girl I work with has been catching up on Season 1 all summer on DVD and this week is just finishing up Season 2 DVDs in preparation for Season 3. It has been so fun having "watercooler" discussions after she watches each episode even though I haven't seen the episodes recently.

I guess we'll just have to play it by ear.

I wish it was a hint but it isn't. Sorry if my earlier post sounded "hinty". :(

Morning everyone!

Admin: Getting the whole family in at WIA, huh? Scoutpost: Glad to hear your over that virus. There's hope for the Sri Lankans!

It is strange that Malik's posted on THF, but stranger things have happened. He does most likely have access there, and Rachel -- like all of us -- checks out all the sites for any changes. I really think it's only Rachel and Malik communicating and setting up the meet in Narvik.

Wish we had sound and speakers at work, I know a couple navy guys here could have helped with morse code. Will just have to rely on ya'll and the kindness of strangers (as usual).

Well, I'm going to have to rely on someone who can translate this. Every morse code site wants you to type in the dots and dashes and then it will translate. I have no idea how to write down morse code! Hopefully, Dixxee's hubby can do it, or someone else with military training.
