Clue #138 - HansoExposed.com Update

If you log in to hansoexposed.com, you'll see a blinking star next to the "Send Sequence" button. Press the "star button" to listen to 4 minutes, 13 seconds of Morse Code. According to PeaceandNamaste and mamomk in our comments, translating this gives us us "M--I wish it were that simple. Fact is, as much as I want to, I still can't trust you. I want to believe you are the man who helped me in Paris but "de Zylva's" name was not unknown. You could be Mittlewerk himself, springing a trap under my feet. I need confirmation it's you. I need you to tell me something only you could know."

Thanks to makomk, Maven, RyanDrumz, and PeaceandNamaste for emailing us about this clue.

from last thread;

Oh hey guys remember in the Rachel video where she gets shot at? Malek saves her then they run down into a car park or something and she uses the camera in her glasses (roflolmao).. Before she turned her other camera off he said something like "turn it off unless you want them to know who you really are"... Perhaps he'll tell her so she knows it's him! That would be cool :)

Minor thing - the message actually starts with "M --" (one of the other people who translated it included this, and then I looked at the waveforms to check). Apparently you can represent a dash in Morse code, though not all the charts seem to list it.

this is from next week's tv guide (September 18th-24th):

Lost's Numbers Finally Add Up
ABC's online Lost supplement, the Lost Experience, delivered a major payoff on September 8th. An unlocked video detailed how a mathematician was commisionned by the United Nations in 1962 to calculate the timetable for humanity's extinction.
The resulting Valenzetti's Equation was based on factors represented by Egyptian Hieroglyphics, each of which was assigned a numerical value: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42, aka what would become Hurley's cursed digits. Though the Hanso Foundation created the Dharma Inititiave to stave off the forecast apocalypse, the foundation's impatient acting president Dr. Thomas Mittlewerk is itching to unleash a virus that will snub 30 percent of the world's population.
Fans who followed the Experience may someday experience deja vu when watching LOST on TV. Says Michael Benson, senior vice president of marketing for ABC: "There's no reason [the Experience's events] can't be integrated into the program." - Reported by Matt Webb Mitovich

regarding the glypths. the counter in the hatch when reached 000.00 the counter turns red (as we all know) and hieroglyphs pop up in there place. it means cause to die so its possible that the glyph images could have a message also. its just in which order they go. the order they where released or the order of the video sequence

who knows. thats if if anything will come from it.

Glyphs:
The glyphs appear to be made in a combination of languages/scripts. As was already noted, there are some Egyptian heiroglyphs, there are also some Cunieform. Check this site for all sorts of different scripts (you'll see the some glyph-like symbols is most of these).

Sometimes we do tend to overanalyze, don't we? You're mostly likely correct that TPTB just needed some glyph-like stuff for 70 codes. And they grabbed whatever they could find. LOL.

I dont think that the glyphs used in the Sri Lanka fragments actually mean something..

They're problably just from the same alphabet used in the hatch.

Blogger PeaceAndNamaste said...

Thanks for all the links, guys!

Those promos look really impressive, and now I see why everyone is talking about there being an underwater hatch in S3, it definately looks like it.. Even at the end of the trailers where it just says 'LOST', the word is out to sea and it looks like we're looking at it from inside some kind of cave on the coast of the island.. Then there's the scene where Jack opens the hatch and all the water floods in, and there were a few other moments when you saw somebody splashing around underwater..

I can't wait until Season 3 now, I wonder when it's going to be aired in the UK?

Vitruvian man, thanks for the links! I would like to think that the glyphs mean something, but your assumption that they just snatched a load of random symbols is probably more accurate.. I wonder if somebody has compiled a list of the meanings of all of the glyphs yet?

9/13/2006 01:33:00 PM
Blogger Administrator said...

My take on the glyphs.

1. Why wouldn't they actually mean something? Sure, Rachel may have simply needed a way to package her codes in a way that would be recognizable, but why would she choose to attach "language" to the codes unless she was trying to communicate something extra. I have had a sneaking suspicion that there is something more to the glyphs.

2. I have been thinking that seeking a message in the glyphs was "someone else's" job and have been too lazy to do any actual research regarding the meanings of individual characters. Sounds like Vitruvian Man has gotten us off to a good start...has anybody REALLY looked into each individual character and tried to piece anything together? Sounds like a job for the Research Bloggers :)

Hi everybody! Just a quick fly by...on a business trip in North Carolina today. Sorry I wasn't around to summarize today's clue, but I see that admin and peaceandnamaste were able to take care of that.

Honestly when a girl says, "I want to believe you're the man who helped me...springing a trap....tell me something..."

What she's really asking:
Does this Norwegian disguise make me look fat?

Heaven help him if he answers wrong.

This may have already been discussed before, but has anyone tried to decrypt the complete sequence of characters produced by the "solved" video? I mean, trying to translate meaning out of the glyphs is one thing, but doesn't it make more sense to embed a scrambled message in the actual "text" of the fragments?

ccs, i've seen people mention it. It's a possibility that the glyph codes mean something, but the fact that some of them are entire words (Chocolate, Vaccine, etc) may say otherwise.. Also come of the glyphs don't even have symbols on, so i'm not sure if they would mean anything either.. It's worth looking into though..

lostpedia, what exactly are you bored with? I dunno, I prefer this part of the game way more than the glyph hunt.. To me that part was boring, and only certain groups of people could participate.. Plus it took ages and the story didn't progress at all. At least this way we can all get involved and we actually have a storyline unfolding in front of us.. :)

The ARG Monitor watches a list of sites that are "in-game" and tells when any changes have been made. I included a link to the ARG Monitor in my post on the front page today, but now that I look, it appears that one of the other admins removed it.

It can't be completely relied upon, tho... RoT, Rachel Blake's Site and Rachel Blake's cover site do not update on the ARG Monitor...

I would love to do a podcast but I'm doing a poor job managing my pace of life right now and I've got a lot of "real world" investments I making with my time and energy that are keeping me more busy than I'd like to be. My job involves a lot of "people care" and so some seasons are just more full than others. We had some extra help during the summer but now the workload has really picked back up.

I promise we're not finished but I can't figure out WHEN we'll be back. I'm so sorry to let people down. :(

Belly, yeah you're right, often the site monitor updates long after we've found and solved the clue.. but occasionally it's really helpful, the last few clues wouldn't have been found so quickly if it wasn't for the monitor :)

Edit: Oooooh yeah a TLEC podcast would be pretty good right about now.. The games starting to get back in full swing (or at least alot better than it's been during the whole glyph hunt), and we've found out alot of new information that may have even answered some of the questions in the last podcast... How about it Admin? :P

follow the Min link above to this one at Min bottom to read
"12. number--"doom" you. Alluding to the "number," as Meni (Isaiah 65:11) means. Retribution in kind, the punishment answering to the sin (compare 2 Chronicles 36:14-17).

Hey, I don't know if anyone's here, or if this has been mentioned - no time to catch up - but ABC showed a preview of the new season tonight. I just watched the drama preview at 9:30 Eastern time. At the end, just before 10, there was a segment on Lost.

***spoiler***

They showed a clip from season 3 with Sawyer in a cage. He pushes a button marked with a knife and fork and gets a warning message. A kid in a different cage (sounded like Sawyer called him Kyle) warns him not to do that, but he pushes it again and is blasted back.

They also played the same spot that I've seen on Youtube, although the earlier spots say "65 days ago. they fell from the sky" and the one tonight said "67 days ago."

Again, sorry if someone already mentioned this. I don't have time to check through the comments, but I wanted the folks on the west coast to catch it if they could.

Good night, everyone!

Twinkle-I just hope DJDan answers our questions a little better, but I have a feeling it might be the same. We'll just have to see.

Hi Guys

Not sure if anyone is awake / online but hey ho.

I had a look at the Glyphs - Nothing obvious lept out at me, they are certainly not in norse runes, Ogham Script or any of the medival 'magical alphabets' like Malachim. I used to have some books on ancient alphabets but I'm pretty sure I sold them all on eBay. Some of then remind me of (native american) indian pictograms but I'm no expert, one in particular reminded me of the figure of Kokopelli.

With regards the podcast somone a while back suggested we all contributed some audio and did a group TLEC podcast - sounds a good idea to me. I'm happy to have a go at doing a segment - not sure what on but it's worth a shot.
