That's right. We're wrapping up our role in The Lost Experience with one last podcast. We've got a lot of fun things planned to try to sum things up but we can't do it without YOUR HELP. We'll be doing a segment called "I just wanna say..." where Lost Experience players will have the chance to speak their minds about anything and everything TLE related. Since it would be next to impossible to coordinate multiple phone conversations, we ask that you email us 60 seconds or less of your voice in MP3 format by next Wednesday at noon (U.S. Central Timezone). Start your audio with "My name is...and I just wanna say..." Look for the podcast coming up next Thursday!

David, Belly, and Thrasher,

You all did a great job with this blog and it without a doubt the best one out there for this game, it was always easy to follow and the people here have been simply amazing. I am looking forward to the Last pod-cast and hope it turns out well.

You should give other people an opportunity to voice themselves who don't have access to recording their own voice to an MP3... for instance; will you be reading any e-mails or anything other than the MP3? I would like to contribute but have no access to any programs or equipment that would allow this to go down. I am sure there are others as well that would like to be included in the Final Pod-cast.

I look forward to the new Blog when the season starts and the Message board is coming together nicely from what Lostgrrl tells me. It should be a very cool new board for all of us to keep connected. I met a lot of interesting people through out this game and highly anticipate that the community will continue to prosper as time goes on.

A huge ThanX for all you guys have done and will continue to do for the foreseeable future.

Much Respect,

1. Do you have an irresistable need to type in either uppercase or lower case, ignoring all social conventions to use them both appropriately?

2. Are you compelled to videotape all of your exploits, then edit out the really interesting parts?

3. Do you stalk secretive billionaires for no apparent reason?

4. Do you find yourself assaulting strangers with small appliances, only to become oddly drawn to them in a romantic way?

5. Do you write your grocery list in a combination of binary and hex?

6. Do you end your conversations with irrelevant movie/tv quotes?

7. Do you have a tendency to tear everything up in 70 little pieces before throwing them in the garbage can?

8. Are you the last person to figure out the clues in a mystery even as everyone around you is shouting the answer?

9. Do you like to pretend that islands in the Great Lakes are Equatorial?

any more we should add TLEC?

Maven & Co,
There are several different methods for recording your own mp3. It is surprising simple and all you really need is a microphone. Most computers have the recording software built in or it is easily downloadable for free.

Google search "make a recording" or something like that and you should find what you need. Here is one example:
How to make a recording

We may read some things if people send us emails but I'll play mp3s before reading b/c I think people get bored listening to us read stuff. I'm working on some cool "compilations" of videos, websites, events, etc. I'm hoping it turns out!

Blogger Fenris said...

Fantastic idea. I will record my audio, probably before the live podcast, but then may change it depending what happens (if it's all as predictable as it looks I won't need to).

You know what would be cool? Getting any of the soft or even hard in game characters to speak on it. Pressuming they all live out the live podcast. I expect it would probably just end up being Ninja as the others are likely to be either too busy or too constrincted by network issues to speak or just impossible to get hold of to ask. But I reckon it's worth a try. Not that it won't be cool (and overall more important) to hear everyone elses comments but I know you guys don't limit the length of your podcasts so we could certainly have both if they were up for it.

"This is Thomas Mittlewerk and I just want to say - I would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for those peskey kids, ps. I'll be back!" Lol. Okay, that's *so* not gonna happen. Just speculating here.

Hi Guys,

Just poking my head in to say that I have just downloaded Audacity and am going to try and record a MP3 for the podcast.

9/22/2006 01:52:00 PM
Blogger Fenris said...

Btw, I recommend Audacity for doing the recordings with. It's very simple and you can save right to mp3, providing you have the lamemp3 codec installed which many of you may already have and if not you can get it here. Both of those are free.

Alternatively you can use itunes to convert the wavs (made with soundrecorder, audacity or anything else) if you have that installed anyway. Just go to the options page - advanced - importing, select mp3 as the import type. Then drag the .wav file into itunes, right click and select "convert to mp3". You'll then find an mp3 of the file in your itunes library.

If you don't have itunes installed I'd do the top method.

If anyone has any trouble getting sound into a recording program you probably need to find your audio mixer on your computer. Usually it's in the start menu-accessories-entertainment (IRRC) but you can also access it via control panel (sound and audio - audio - volume). once on that go to options, select the record options and make sure the microphone input is ticked on and the volume is up.

Yes, ular98, very slow loading!

I think Belly is upset because it turned out the lonelygirl15 turned out to be phoney...produced by 3 guys as an experiment, and lonelygirl was really an actress they hired.

Belly: I just emailed my recording! Hope you guys got it and I did it correctly. Boy I sure learned alot today! LOL

Well, I was really kinda pissed about this being the end of TLE. Not just because I wanted the game to continue, but because the way in which it ended seemed too anticlimactic? It just kind of fizzled out, when I was expecting it to pick up pace and get better and better..

But i'm kind of over that now, and I realised today that TLE has been going on for a long while.. I started watching LOST and started following TLE at the same time, and it was everyone here at TLEC that got me so hooked to both the game and the show. I've been a part of a few internet communities, and TLEC by far has the best group of friendly, warm people. So 'I just wanna say...'

...thanks. :)

It goes way beyond just being a fake... it's sole ultimate purpose is to promote the religious beliefs of Alister Crowley... they lied to literally hundreds of thousands of fans who thought the drama/relationship between her and daniel was real just to ultimately deface christianity and promote the "religious beliefs" of the "wickedest man in the world"... The only reason they came clean is because someone who knew "bree" came forward with their own video... they were threatened with legal action and their video was removed... there's a lot of ugly things out there that you could find if you were to sift though all the fan sites to find the truth... I could REALLY get into it, but in an effort to keep my cool, I'd rather not... let's just keep it at "they should be ashamed of themselves"... I don't know if they are still going to continue towards their evil intentions now that their cover has been blown and everyone knows who they are, but I hope not... it's a fun video to watch... a video of 2 teenagers falling in love... but that isn't what it's really about... and the storyline is now rapidly changing... the religion is being brought up more and more and by the time it's all through, if they continue towards their original goal, I think you'll agree with me...

I have to admit that I still watch the videos, but I no longer subscribe... the last video was really bad... bad acting, blatant references to the religion... I'm sure it'll be even more so soon. I have no problem with even a "fake reality show", but lying to promote the "wickedest man in the world"'s beliefs is just wrong...

Belly....Aleister Crowley???!! Ick! Mr. Self-Proclaimed-666-Beast himself. I had no idea that fake video was about that, I just heard about it on TV yesterday and they didn't mention that. That is pretty devious.

I just bought a book about one of the rocket scientists who founded Jet Propulsion Labs and this gent was in a neighborhood coven which included Mr.666 and L.Ron Hubbard. Short story is, he got pretty messed up (in the head, doing weird things with his two voodoo buddys) and later accidentally blew himself up in his house doing chemical experiments.

Life is stranger than fiction sometimes.

Alister Crowley, for those not in the know, do a wikipedia search. I will only say, a very, very wicked man.

And, not to add any salt to any wounds, but I have been completly quiet on this subject till now, and probably will not say more after this. But again, March 4, 1948, and possibly an AC connection to Lost (by my reckoning)

I, CHARLES STANSFIELD JONES, (Frater Achad, etc.) of "Tall Timbers", Deep Cove, British Columbia, Canada, being the author of the accompanying manuscript entitled "Liber Thirty-One" (a part of my private magical diary, originally transcribed and typed with one carbon copy in November 1918, the single copy having been delivered to Aleister Crowley by mail early in September 1919 and since lost or destroyed) do now make the following statement:

On March 4, 1948, I received from Gerald J. Yorke, Esq., of 5, Montaque Square, London, W.1., England, a letter which contained the following:

"As you probably know A.C. had died.

Hurley's been privy to every major event on the island. Why?
Do Claire and Jack share a father?
The big question is why Kate, Jack and Sawyer being held?

I didn't realize that lonelygirl15 was connected with Crowley, but I've come across him a number of times while researching my "Lost" theory, which involves Sirius.

For example, from http://www.greylodge.org/occultreview/glor_001/unclealsirians.htm
(Begin quote)
Crowley was not only involved in the OTO but was also a member of an arcane secret society known as the A:.A:. (Argenteum Astrum) or the Order of the Silver Star. The "silver star" referred to is Sirius itself, the most prominent in the heavens and positioned as the chief star in the ancient constellation "Phoenix"....Crowley identified the Order of the Silver Star as the Illuminati itself. As he was considered to be the head of the Illuminati, the correspondences continue to run even deeper. The heart of his magical current was inspired from Sirius and there was much tradition to back this up. In occult tradition, Sirius is the Hidden God or "the sun behind the sun". As the moon reflects the sun, so does the sun reflect Sirius.
(/End quote)

The info about the silver star is especially interesting when you look at the crib mobile from "Maternity Leave":

Ib4uc, your comment made me think of something (sorry if anyone has broached this before, a million threads ago:-) but not about Ms.Klu being preg. Maybe all the DI experiments made the Others sterile. Perhaps that is why they have to steal the children of people who crash on the island. Not just because they need fresh, good, subjects to use for virus/cure experimentation (because the DI is defunct and no longer sending them any), but because they can't propagate themselves anymore for the creation of New World Order on the island.

Well, now that I type this out I feel deja vu that someone mentioned this, but what the heck.

whoever gets the last post should end it with:

rb is definitely not persephone. i'm not buying it.

guess we should add something about rb=p? to the quiz!

Maven- when I took it out of the package it was pretty liquid feeling but still had it's shape- that's what you get for living in AZ! But no worries- I threw it into the freezer as soon as I got it and it turned out good as new.

Maven; could you get some screen captures of the TLE sites before they shut down? Then you could at least have images of what the site used to look like on your nice timeline. It would be kewl to have a kind of scrapbook of what we did this summer -- a sort of "What I Did On My Summer Vacation" type of thing. Dr. Spongey could even do a nice report on it for school with the info. :-)

I hope that someone has a cap of the old LYCGY page, that was pretty neat looking. Now it's gone too.

Capcom: I would if I knew how to! LOL That's one thing I didn't learn this summer...maybe someone else has them, hopefully!

*snort* RB=P
*double snort* from ox's confession yesterday that he met his wife during the blender incident of 1999.

Working on my contribution to admin's podcast. This is hard! I have newfound respect for those guys.

gary troup = purgatory

FYSB; does snort#1 mean that you disagree with RB=P? :-)

I'm not sure what to think. At first, P's messages sounded as if they were from an older person (than RB)who had a decent vocabulary and command of the english language, but then as we got closer to RB-Time, didn't they start sounding more Valley Girl-ish like RB? Perhpas TPTB changed P/RB horses in midstream and later decided that RB was to be P, so as to simplify the game, plot, and script. I dunno.

hey capcom....snort#1 was just because i thought it was funny that we're still talking about it.

my personal belief is that rachel is and always has been persephone.

but part of the fun of the game is that we get to pour over the nuances and look for hidden meanings.

Damn! I have to be up around 5am or so on Monday morning and the podcast isn't until 11pm here in NYC. Looks like I'm going to get very little sleep.

Why did it get changed so many times? Coordinating with other events that may be happening for the week before the new season?

"no earlier than that"
*Podcast changes*
"earlier still goddammit"
*Podcast changes*
"Javi ant you do anything right ffs? we only wanted this to be profitable for a month or so you cock finish it ASAP"
*Javi bows and licks ABC's shoes clean* saying "pleas etake me back to writing for lost Medium just aint cuttin it

personally i think that is quite an accurate account of whatt happened. =)

NB no offence was meant to Javi in the creation of this post offence as only meant to be thrown ABC's way.

Any word on parts 8 & 9 of the Gary Troup interview?

By the way, I must say that this experience has revealed the desire for all of us to systemize the world.

Not everything is linked to a conspiracy, but if I were to say that knowing that the THF were real, I'd be dead wrong.

We all found what we are made of, how determined we are to rationalize this world.

I could've cared less how this ARG went, because I just wanted to play the game for the fun of it.

My thanks to the dedicated ones. I have never seen such a community.

However, in my opinion, this game as a whole was a disaster and a reflection on the writers' inability to tell a fetching story.

The writers of BSG need to tell the LOST writers how to weave an epic survival drama.

I have never seen such a dedicated, hypothesizing community. You all filled in the blanks when TPTB made vague, unclear, or stupid decisions.

I'm giving credit to those that gave TPTB way too much credit for fracking up this ARG.

like i said when snakes on a plane didnt do as well as expected the bigwig execs saw that internet buzz doesnt translate into dollars. The 20 something million people that watch lost aer way more important than the 35,000 the play tle. That would be a low rating even for basic cable. When that realization dawned on them they cut the budget way down and thats why we have had the e-mail back and forth lately cause it was cheap. As javi pointed out during the rehearsal, he not only doesnt care about the fans he has contempt for them....

I was wondering if anyone who has the special Adobe reader
(that allows exporting of images from inside a pdf file),
did the exporting to the "missing_organs.zip"?

And did any of the exported pics have any special hidden info (.png multi layer) ?

Oh, and for the die hard lost fanatics (please don't take this as me being smug) we have been discussing Lost for nearly 2 years now over at alt.tv.lost.

I know there will still be a community forum here at TLEC, but please stop over at alt.tv.lost for FLively and controversial Lost discussions. Unmoderated....so needless to say it is sometimes r-rated.

No news reader? you can still participate via your web browser and googles groups

I guess the Where's Alvar site is not posting new pictures, so since my daughter and I went to all the trouble to go to San Francisco to get our Apollo bar, I am switching my avatar to her and I for the rest of the time here.
Taken 9-20-06 at the last Apollo give away.

Gosh Joann, that's not nice of them. I guess it must cost them money to have someone monitor/run the WIA site, but you'd think they could keep accepting pictures until it's over at least. :-( Well, we welcome your Apollo booty pictures here on the blog. :-)

BTW, to those it may interest, I just saw "The Illusionist" tonight, it's good! I am very partial to turn-of-the-20th-century period pieces anyway, but it's worth the $$. A couple slow parts, but there's a great twist in the story. And we Losties love twists. People in the theater were clapping at the end.
