That's right. We're wrapping up our role in The Lost Experience with one last podcast. We've got a lot of fun things planned to try to sum things up but we can't do it without YOUR HELP. We'll be doing a segment called "I just wanna say..." where Lost Experience players will have the chance to speak their minds about anything and everything TLE related. Since it would be next to impossible to coordinate multiple phone conversations, we ask that you email us 60 seconds or less of your voice in MP3 format by next Wednesday at noon (U.S. Central Timezone). Start your audio with "My name is...and I just wanna say..." Look for the podcast coming up next Thursday!

David, Belly, and Thrasher,

You all did a great job with this blog and it without a doubt the best one out there for this game, it was always easy to follow and the people here have been simply amazing. I am looking forward to the Last pod-cast and hope it turns out well.

You should give other people an opportunity to voice themselves who don't have access to recording their own voice to an MP3... for instance; will you be reading any e-mails or anything other than the MP3? I would like to contribute but have no access to any programs or equipment that would allow this to go down. I am sure there are others as well that would like to be included in the Final Pod-cast.

I look forward to the new Blog when the season starts and the Message board is coming together nicely from what Lostgrrl tells me. It should be a very cool new board for all of us to keep connected. I met a lot of interesting people through out this game and highly anticipate that the community will continue to prosper as time goes on.

A huge ThanX for all you guys have done and will continue to do for the foreseeable future.

Much Respect,
DeDJeZTeR

Ok, reposting from the last thread with updates. Oxillini has taken the quiz and I believe he is at the very least Rachel's first cousin once removed (from reality).

The How Do You Know if You Are Parthenogenically Related to Rachel Blake Quiz

1. Do you have an irresistable need to type in either uppercase or lower case, ignoring all social conventions to use them both appropriately?

2. Are you compelled to videotape all of your exploits, then edit out the really interesting parts?

3. Do you stalk secretive billionaires for no apparent reason?

4. Do you find yourself assaulting strangers with small appliances, only to become oddly drawn to them in a romantic way?

5. Do you write your grocery list in a combination of binary and hex?

6. Do you end your conversations with irrelevant movie/tv quotes?

7. Do you have a tendency to tear everything up in 70 little pieces before throwing them in the garbage can?

8. Are you the last person to figure out the clues in a mystery even as everyone around you is shouting the answer?

9. Do you like to pretend that islands in the Great Lakes are Equatorial?

any more we should add TLEC?

Maven & Co,
There are several different methods for recording your own mp3. It is surprising simple and all you really need is a microphone. Most computers have the recording software built in or it is easily downloadable for free.

Google search "make a recording" or something like that and you should find what you need. Here is one example:
How to make a recording

We may read some things if people send us emails but I'll play mp3s before reading b/c I think people get bored listening to us read stuff. I'm working on some cool "compilations" of videos, websites, events, etc. I'm hoping it turns out!

Fantastic idea. I will record my audio, probably before the live podcast, but then may change it depending what happens (if it's all as predictable as it looks I won't need to).

You know what would be cool? Getting any of the soft or even hard in game characters to speak on it. Pressuming they all live out the live podcast. I expect it would probably just end up being Ninja as the others are likely to be either too busy or too constrincted by network issues to speak or just impossible to get hold of to ask. But I reckon it's worth a try. Not that it won't be cool (and overall more important) to hear everyone elses comments but I know you guys don't limit the length of your podcasts so we could certainly have both if they were up for it.

"This is Thomas Mittlewerk and I just want to say - I would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for those peskey kids, ps. I'll be back!" Lol. Okay, that's *so* not gonna happen. Just speculating here.

Hi Guys,

Just poking my head in to say that I have just downloaded Audacity and am going to try and record a MP3 for the podcast.

9/22/2006 01:52:00 PM
Blogger Fenris said...

Btw, I recommend Audacity for doing the recordings with. It's very simple and you can save right to mp3, providing you have the lamemp3 codec installed which many of you may already have and if not you can get it here. Both of those are free.

Alternatively you can use itunes to convert the wavs (made with soundrecorder, audacity or anything else) if you have that installed anyway. Just go to the options page - advanced - importing, select mp3 as the import type. Then drag the .wav file into itunes, right click and select "convert to mp3". You'll then find an mp3 of the file in your itunes library.

If you don't have itunes installed I'd do the top method.

If anyone has any trouble getting sound into a recording program you probably need to find your audio mixer on your computer. Usually it's in the start menu-accessories-entertainment (IRRC) but you can also access it via control panel (sound and audio - audio - volume). once on that go to options, select the record options and make sure the microphone input is ticked on and the volume is up.

I just bought a book about one of the rocket scientists who founded Jet Propulsion Labs and this gent was in a neighborhood coven which included Mr.666 and L.Ron Hubbard. Short story is, he got pretty messed up (in the head, doing weird things with his two voodoo buddys) and later accidentally blew himself up in his house doing chemical experiments.

And, not to add any salt to any wounds, but I have been completly quiet on this subject till now, and probably will not say more after this. But again, March 4, 1948, and possibly an AC connection to Lost (by my reckoning)

I, CHARLES STANSFIELD JONES, (Frater Achad, etc.) of "Tall Timbers", Deep Cove, British Columbia, Canada, being the author of the accompanying manuscript entitled "Liber Thirty-One" (a part of my private magical diary, originally transcribed and typed with one carbon copy in November 1918, the single copy having been delivered to Aleister Crowley by mail early in September 1919 and since lost or destroyed) do now make the following statement:

On March 4, 1948, I received from Gerald J. Yorke, Esq., of 5, Montaque Square, London, W.1., England, a letter which contained the following:

Twinkle: Here's a few things that stood out for me in the EW Bonus Pullout:
We know Jack's wife fell in love with another man--who was that other man?
Why did Desmond spend time in prison?
How and why did Locke get paralyzed?
Hurley's been privy to every major event on the island. Why?
Do Claire and Jack share a father?
The big question is why Kate, Jack and Sawyer being held?

Did any of you try the Kyle XY game? When it came out, it seemed like it was going to be another ABC ARG but it was a real dud. It started out with a commercial at the end of the show like we got with Lost. Maybe ABC couldn't follow thru with the Kyle game... and it was a only a summer series that went just 6 or 7 episodes...no fan base like Lost. Anyway... just wondering.

Morning all! Wow, the day before the last day...time flies when you're having fun. LOL

I was just wondering...what's going to happen to all the websites that were part of the game (like DJ Dan, Sublymonal, THF, Stophanso, WIA, HE, etc)? Do they all get SHUTDOWN BY THE MAN?

9/23/2006 10:41:00 AM
Blogger Capcom said...

Ib4uc, your comment made me think of something (sorry if anyone has broached this before, a million threads ago:-) but not about Ms.Klu being preg. Maybe all the DI experiments made the Others sterile. Perhaps that is why they have to steal the children of people who crash on the island. Not just because they need fresh, good, subjects to use for virus/cure experimentation (because the DI is defunct and no longer sending them any), but because they can't propagate themselves anymore for the creation of New World Order on the island.

Well, now that I type this out I feel deja vu that someone mentioned this, but what the heck.

Maven; that's what I have been wondering. The RDB site soon decomissioned even just the "vaccine" audio clue around the time that the "quarantine" clue appeared. I wish that TPTB, both ABC and Lost, would leave all the sites up for a while, maybe for at least the rest of the year. But the internet is extremely ephemeral, unfortunately. That's one thing that I hate about the internet. Here today, gone tomorrow. If you didn't print it out, tough nugies. :-(

Hooyeah. In a couple months when all the sites are gone, we will be trying to convince people that we spent our entire summer playing this great internet game, and no one will believe us because there will be no evidence anywhere. THF/TWM will have erased it all! Then they'll put is in the looneybin with Dave where we can play Connect-4,8,15,16,23,42 with Leonard. :-)

Maven; could you get some screen captures of the TLE sites before they shut down? Then you could at least have images of what the site used to look like on your nice timeline. It would be kewl to have a kind of scrapbook of what we did this summer -- a sort of "What I Did On My Summer Vacation" type of thing. Dr. Spongey could even do a nice report on it for school with the info. :-)

I'm not sure what to think. At first, P's messages sounded as if they were from an older person (than RB)who had a decent vocabulary and command of the english language, but then as we got closer to RB-Time, didn't they start sounding more Valley Girl-ish like RB? Perhpas TPTB changed P/RB horses in midstream and later decided that RB was to be P, so as to simplify the game, plot, and script. I dunno.

like i said when snakes on a plane didnt do as well as expected the bigwig execs saw that internet buzz doesnt translate into dollars. The 20 something million people that watch lost aer way more important than the 35,000 the play tle. That would be a low rating even for basic cable. When that realization dawned on them they cut the budget way down and thats why we have had the e-mail back and forth lately cause it was cheap. G'day friends. I hope that I can figure out how to listen to DJ Dan tonight, I'm kind of a dweeb when it comes to those kind of computer things. This will be the first one I've bothered to listen to (mostly because he just rubs me the wrong way though). :-p But I've got to at least try on the last day of TLE of course. Thanks TBM, for recording it for computer-ignorant dweebs like moi-self.

TBM, everytime they said "Eisenheim" in the Illusionist, I kept thinking "Weisenheimer". :-) I liked the Phillip Glass score as well, it matched pretty well with the Victorian/Edwardian feel of the movie. TBM, can you come up with something in the Illusionist to tie in with your blog? Perhaps an essay on "Contemplating One's Navel"? :-)

capcom, LOL, "The Navel" borders on the mythological. And my friend tdciago is the mythological master :)

Her site is here:
http://members.aol.com/lostdogon/
She also originally recommeded the "Illusionist"

BTW, my "hollow earth" therories at the blog, also tie into "The Navel" concept

Seeking technical help! I wanted to make sure I was all set up for the podcast and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong...

The link on DJ Dan's page is this:
http://www.djdan.am/Óhttp://www.radioharvest.comÓ which has some crazy symbols in it and takes me to a file not found page.

The link to the podcast from ABC is this: http://www.radioharvest.com/ which seems to get stuck on some endless loading and never shows up on screen.

Someone posted this link earlier:
http://www.harvestfilms.com/home2.html, which seems to go to the right place (at least visually) but when I click the "click here to download our feed seed" I just got a notepad window.

Can anyone help? Am I just starting this too early? Or am I visiting the wrong places/doing the wrong things?

I really appreciate any help/advice. Thanks.

I was able to get radioharvest to load with firefox, but now there is not sound. Last time they played music while we waited.

It's getting to look like I won't get to listen to the podcast.

Thanks for the 'lostdogon' site TBM. Well, between your blog and that one, I've got my Autumn reading all lined up. Now that TLE is over, that won't be so hard to accomplish though.

BTW, there was a preview last night for a new movie called "The Prestige" coming soon, also about magic/illusions, with Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale. Looks fascinating.

Thanks MTP, does this mean nobody else is hearing music and I'm not alone?

Have to ask, I've been working on this problem for a while now.

oh geeze... I hope this glitch with the Radio Harvest site is resolved soon. I can't get it to work either.

I can get it to work....(firefox and real player) it's just buffering every five or so seconds and taking ages to start up again.

Looks like this might be a "wait for mp3 job" *groan*

Ah right, so the music with the buffering is the wrong stream (just reading the above comments now).

Ah well hopefully the other will run more smoothly (will they be linking that up on the Harvest page too then?).

I just e-mailed this to their instant messenger?!?!

I've been having a recurring dream that a really old monkey is Jamming Candy bars down
my throat in New York City. There are a bunch of strange symbols, at last
count thier were 70 and then I'm hiding out in a warehouse in Sri Lanka? A
young girl is screaming out about a conspiracy and a loudmouth radio DJ keeps shutting me up? What does it mean?

David from New Jersey

I hope they read it

Hey guys, I'm going to go pick up dinner and come back...I'll make a new post for us to chat in about 30 minutes before the DJ Dan show is scheduled to start.

P.S. I got a new computer and don't have all my software setup yet. Is anybody else going to try to record the show? Please email me if you record it or find a recording.

:)

I'm super excited to see what will happen. I'm also pumped about our Lost Experience Finale coming up this week. I can't wait to try to tie everything up with a nice red ribbon!
