I wish you could just add more to previous posts on these comments, double posting is so Anti-Forum rules :) Anyways, sorry I'm back with more, but I just got done listening to alllll of this podcasts, and when you mentioned it was longer then normal, I was very surprised.

Not sure if there are techie geeks out there, but the podcasts reminds me of the OLD Screen Savers (now Attack of the Show) on G4(Which was TechTv), anyways my point is. I think you could definately turn your podcast into a regular Broadcasting, with Images and videos of the things you guys are discussing. A site new to the internet (well fairly new) is Veoh.com which is for the broadcasters and directors of the future. It would be great to see a show for The Lost Experience, the podcast already sounds great. I guess i'm hooked now :) Thats ok with me

Dont have any clues to that. It would rock if there were, but so far, no. I sometimes think its just the writers either REALLY like Koontz writing or they have simular writing techniques.

What really got me going one day was the guy over in the insidetheexperience that goes by THE WOLFE... Wolfe is a pen name of Koontz, and he was in on shuting down that board that day with a guy who went by aaron which happens to be the first name of that pen name...Aaron Wolfe...with an E and that end.

Not sure now what got me and hubby thinking he could be something I now dont think he was, but at the time, it seemed so clear LOL. Funny thing is though...WOLFE would NEVER answer my questions like "how is gerdy?" and "how is trixie?" which are wife and dog of Koontz. He would answer all other questions and never wandered why I was asking those questions. VERY ODD.

Labtech, a nanobot is a specific term within nanotechnology.

Nanobots have "brains".

I think that the producers were playing semantics. It is entirely possible that the black smoke is indeed nanotechnology (nanomachines, not bots) which are controlled remotely instead of self-directed.

Make sense?

Behind the Scenes:

1. The Podcast is more of a "just for fun" thing for us and our listeners and friends from this site. I wouldn't read too much into what we say or do on that thing.

2.I think the Persephone interview was just Daniel's very creative way of expressing his annoyance at the music, expressing the idea that DJDan & Persephone are connected, and initiating a new theory about some "accident".

3. Since it is "just for fun" the way we prep is that we each agree to come up with at least one topic each. Then we express our views on that topic, and then engage with one another about the different topics. We don't prep together so we don't always know what to expect out of each other. Daniel surprised us today with the Persephone thing. My opinion is that he just went above and beyond this week with his prep and presented his topic in an really well done live interview format. It was gutsy but I think it was brilliant and very funny.

Hoping he hasn't "sold out" on us... :)

Back in the day, I thought nano technology solved a lot of stuff on LOST, especially the monster, and personally, I think the way this all was described in the podcast, it is the writers laughing about the possibility again.

In the LOST community, we used key terms such as "rain cloud" like monster and "nanites" and its connection to electromagnetism. Then, Damon Lindelof said that there was no nano technology going on; though, we did get the bone about "what do you consider nano bots?" It's all just to throw us off as usual.

The important thing from this podcast, I think, is all about the mind control. The tower he is referring to was shown in the last clue making that extremely load noise similar to the season 2 finale noise. Also, he is saying that despite seeing the tower, they can't see any island base or anything.

Maybe that tower protects the island from being found unless it is found by accident? A sort of mind control that limits our ability to perceive the huge island from the sky. It would explain how Flight 815 landed on the island but couldn't be found. It is a fluke occurance, an accident. Now, as indicated by Desmond and the end of Season 2, unless you go the exact perfect way (maybe opposite of the tower), you can't get out.

All of this sure does make electromagnetism sound pretty crazy. Maybe it will bring back popularity in Einstein's Grand Answer to Everything. Electromagnetism being the key to perception and life itself.

Back indeed.

lena, I thought they were using their psychic kids(like ol Special Walt) to get their names. Or something else that has not been explained yet.

::::::FINALE SPOILER WARNING::::::

Of course it wasn't -random- per se for them to end up there, but their crashing was random. The season 2 finale showed that it was a random act of Desmond not getting back in time from the random act of the guy trying to leave with his boat. All of that was random. Then, that created the pulse that pulled down the plane that crashed it.

Now, unless you are telling me that somehow they controlled that Desmond would go out that day, stay just long enough to be late, and have a big electromagnetic pulse pull down the plane that was flying by right at that moment in time, then I say it was quite random.

Still, you could say that somehow someone or something is controlling all of their fates and actions bringing them all together ever since the original experiments in the 70s. Yet, as far as evidence goes at this point, the finale showed that their crash was random due to a random event. The rest is certainly not random.

Maybe it is all about painting it as a small world and looking at the themes of lives influencing other lifes, just in an extreme case. I believe until we gain more facts, we must accept that the season 2 finale gives more reason to believe that it was a random act brought about by the actions of Desmond.

::::::::SPOILER END:::::::::

Thanks for listening.

Blogger The Truth Tempest said...

Well... yeah.

Isn't that what the LOST ARGH! is?
It is a giant, expansive War of the Worlds tale. To the uninformed, the Hugh McIntyre interview was an interview with some guy from a charitable organization with ties to a show that "some of their friends watch".

If there was a Hanso commercial that mentioned cloning, don't you think there would be at least a thousand anti-cloning people calling their fake phoneline or going to the Hanso site complaining that it is buggy and being oddly hacked while they are there?

Someone looks up "answers to everything equation" through google on a whim. ooo A site about some Valenzetti guy! How strange but interesting.

1/6 of all people whom buy the Gary Troup book Bad Twin don't watch LOST. Half didn't know that Gary Troup wasn't a real author, which really let them down to find out, since it was such a nice thriller. Where's our Bad Triplet sequel?

Everything in the LOST ARGH! is Orson Welles' "War of the Worlds". Everything.

We are people that know he is reading a transcript on a radio show.

To others, we are being invaded. Or they just never heard of the oh so charitable Hanso Foundation.

Thanks for tuning in.

lol. I was just running with the theme. I understood how you meant the DJDan stuff to be an in-game hoax. heh. I just like the connection between owelles and the Lost Argh!.

Speaking of which, I prostrated a theory a while back about both DJDan and Persephone, though mainly DJDan.

I wondered if it was all 1984 syndrome. The evil makes its own enemy so that it can control both its own followers and the followers of their "enemy". Thus, they control the minds of both sides and can end an enemy for a new one at any time.

I think that DJDan and perhaps even Persephone, are fabrications of the group behind the Hanso Foundation. We'll just call them... the Hanso Group. With so much talk of dark dealings and every person on the board of directors being the leader of endless numbers of things, from newspapers to rights corporations, it makes sense that maybe it is a formulated fight.

When one senses a rise of dissidence, should you crush the threat? To most traditional villains, yes, but under the 1984 "absolute control" mentality, one matches rising dissidence with providing a hero of the cause that you can control. Then, you have the prominent voice of both sides. Not one person is left without your influence.

DJDan as a character is a hoax, a fraud, but a fraud given life by the Hanso Group. Maybe even Persephone is just a diversion and a false leader to draw attention away from the true people behind it all. Maybe we haven't seen the faces of any of the top brass of the HF because they don't exist. The Hanso Foundation is a cover for the true group beneath the surface. The Hanso Group behind the worldwide DHARMA project.

Alvar Hanso, a saint and charitable soul of his time. Died but kept alive in the news to keep the Hanso Foundation visage alive. One day people will shut down the Hanso Foundation, only to find a coffin at its top and a backdoor in the shadows.

why would someone create a hoax/conspiracy masquerading as a hoax? By having a crack-pot conspiracy theorist spouting all this stuff out it opens the ideas up to ridicule and less people are likely to believe it as being true... it discredits the truth opening the way for Hanso to project their false holier than thou image

6/15/2006 03:26:00 AM
Blogger The Truth Tempest said...

Exactly, lavenda.

Haven't you noticed a trend with DJ Dan lately? He has continued to have more and more absurd things to say.

Mind control? Nano technology?

He is known for saying he is fighting against "The Man". That phrase has for years been a stereotype of naive hippies. A phrase ridiculed for its generalization and indescrimenant attack.

Even -he- is a corporate whore now.

All of this adds up to making him indeed seem preposterous and people's theories against the Hanso Foundation to sound like, well, conspiracy theories. Conspiracy theorists? What a loaded term. To call anything a "conspiracy" in this day and time is to actually discredit it some. It makes it seem nutty.

JFK was shot with a magic bullet sponsored by the Russians.
The Hanso Foundation is secretly genetically altering creatures and doing scary secret experiments on super children in African countries.
The moon landing was all staged by the government.
The Hanso Foundation has a huge tower of mind control and a lost island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

They all sound rather preposterous to me.

But we know better?

Maybe we don't.

It is -completely- 1984 syndrome.
Mind control? No secret electromagnetic signals for that. Look simply to media. The media of Hanso and the media of DJDan. Maybe even Persephone. Mind control of the willing and eager.

I'm not going to say it is the rather cunning JustWillow. To say that would be unfounded for certain.

fitz/traci - yes, the compass heading that Fenry (Fake Henry) gave was 3-2-5.

Another idea around the planned/unplanned crash could be that someone on the plane-not necessarily the pilots, but someone else who could fly a plane-was in on getting the plane to the island. Usually, in a cross-ocean commercial flight, there are at least 3 in the cabin: pilot, co-pilot, and a "third seat" (can't remember the term just now). When Jack opens the cockpit, one of these falls out; the pilot is still strapped in; where's the third? where are the flight attendants? This being said, what if
**possible spoiler for Season 2**

Kelvin lured Desmond away from the button intentionally (he was rather obvious about the tear in his suit and unmasking so close to the hatch) so that the button wouldn't be pushed, making the island visible so the plane could land at the Others' "home". Desmond goes all nuts on Kelvin and knocks him out/kills him(?) and gets back to the hatch in time to push the button. Perhaps it wasn't Desmond's failure to push the button that crashed the plane, but pushing the button while the plane was "coming in" caused the crash?

Just my wack-o theory for that...

Fitz/Traci: Correct. The compass heading is 3-2-5. Fenry also said that Michael wouldn't be able to find his way back and yet poor Desmond went in a circle for two weeks. Seems that at 3-2-5 there is a one-way break in the EM "screen". Also, could "home" be The Barracks mentioned in Pearl Orientation? The Others had Jack and company on Pala Ferry pier, but it seems awfully close to the dump site for the Pearl notebooks. There are far too many tubes for it to be a collection site. I guess it's possible that when your tour of duty is done at the Pearl they don't care if you see the notebooks are dumped. Your part of the experiment is over. On the other hand, you wouldn't continue to be good fodder for further testing if you thought it was all for naught.

Kelvin definitely lured Desmond away so that Flight 815 would be drawn to the island. It was planned. Kelvin's death was accidental -- if he's really dead. Desmond didn't really stay long enough to make sure.

&&&&&& END SPOILER &&&&&&&

And we've seen a whole web of people, many of them directly linked to Hanso (Walt's stepfather, for example) who were instrumental in getting various "losties" onto that particular flight.

It is like the waking dream reference...they needed to make the experiment as "real" as possible...if they do not beleive that they are in a real place they will wake from the dream, so to speak, hence waking dream...the Others could be failed experiments...which could also be the incident that shut down Dharma...

I don't think HANSO had anything to do with the losties landing on the island.
I think that shortly after the "Incident" HANSO dropped/closed the DHARMA initiative. I think the others revolted under the experiments which lead to the incident.

the plane crash was an accident and one that probably caused HANSO some headaches because they are worried that someone should find the island and expose them and what was going on there.

the fact that so many of the lead characters lives intertwined is just to show how interconnected we all are to one another in life. However it is less than a dozen character's out of all the losties that have been shown to have any previous connection. (remember there are something around 30 other losties which the show has not really shown us or told us about).

if the plane had not crashed, they would have continued on never taking any note or rememberance of the others and therefore not known if they ran into eachother again sometime.

How many times have you seen someone who looked vaguely familiar but cannot place where you have seen them before?

Ever hear of the theory of 6 degrees of seperation? That everyone on the planet knows or is connected to one another through no more than 6 other people?

Scott - Kelvin Joe Inman

Before his arrival to the island
Worked with Kate's stepfather in the Gulf War
Manipulated Sayid into torturing fellow soldiers under the pretense that they required an Arabic speaking person to translate. Later on in One of Them it is found out that Inman speaks Arabic himself
Gave Sayid money so he could leave Iraq for good
Claimed to be a spy for ten years when talking to Desmond. Most likely worked for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), as the tape shown to Sayid says "property of the DIA".
Said he left because "...men followed my orders."
Claimed that after leaving the service, he joined the Dharma Initiative, saying bitterly "Namaste, Thank You, and Good Luck"

I have enjoyed reading the many theories about Lost, DHARMA, P, DJDan and Hanso (more I am sure); it has been very enlightening.
Just wish there was some proof to back some of it up. So many possibilities. I agree that there are no where near enough answers coming from all the clues we are being fed. Usually just more questions. (like the show I guess).

Surely it won't be long now before something important is answered.

I see you're already chatting about the Research Blog. We'll say more later in a post within the next week. To everyone that's reading right now...Know that we HATED "making the cuts" (as stupid as "making the cuts" sounds). We really leaned towards building diversity into the team and in the end it came down to some really tough calls. We do have a long list of alternates in case people decline the offer or end up fizzling out. Also, it is important to remember that we ALL LEAN ON EACH OTHER all the time. The Research Team is no good without everybody else playing this game.

Okay...2 cents complete.

Minipulator,
Yeah. I expect the comments on the new blog to be just as much of a contribution to the game as the posts. The posts are really just a different type of conversation starter. from what we have going on over hear. It will keep topics more organized and direct.

Similiar to a message board but it gives to Bloggers a little more freedom to expand on their ideas but also more responsibility for crafting posts that are of value. There are so many dead end topics on Message Boards and we are hoping to really stay focused on the most pertinent stuff.

Blogger wizardry_eas said...

Yes. Basically where do we start? And thanks admin. Do we just throw a list of categories in there and people can divide themselves. I guess to begin with, looking at the blogs by say... lena, put them in and that is a building block.

6/15/2006 03:35:00 PM
Blogger WatermarkStudents said...

Antecedent,
Your question is a good one. I'm going to let you guys pow-wow about that and handle it on your own. Contributors might want to do an email exchange within thelostexperienceresearch@gmail.com inbox (I listed the invitees for you there) and start a discussion about that.

We would have made assignments but interests were so diverse...gosh...my mind was vexed. We couldn't box people in. Make sense?

I forsee someone sending an email to the group email address directed to other contributors saying something like: "I'm working on a post about D20. Does anybody have anything they want to add?" Wait a day. Gather info. Craft post. Post it. Read comments. Edit post. Etc.

Probably a topic by topic deal.

Kyle had a good idea but it was too message boardish and made my head hurt. I don't want it to be THAT organize. I want it to be organic based on where the game is leading us.

Kyle suggested the following 20 categories that could be a good springboard for ideas but not so much a framework:

Lost Helpdesk [help with brower/blogging/support issues]
Lost Advertisement [place to post stuff found on random advertisements]
Lost characters [backgrounds on each character, their interconnections]
Lost island [trying to find it/what's on it/what we know about it so far]
Lost Mythology [the 'visions', Hurley bird, black smoke/nanites, monster, etc...]
General Mythology [Greek/Roman, etc...]
Chemistry
Physics
Mathematics
Anthropology/Sociology
History
Literature [about literature references]
DJ Dan update blog [about updates to site relevant to game]/[about DJ Dan and Tonya]
Retrievers of Truth update blog [about updates to the site that are relevant to the game]/[research on the Verizon people]
The Hanso Foundation update blog [about updates]/[research on execs and employees and Joop]
Gary Troup [research on Gary Troup and his books]
Enzo Valenzetti [research on Enzo Valenzetti and his equation]
IRC help [help for the #lostclueteam IRC channel. How to get in, how to register, etc...]
Podcast [separate blog for TLEC podcasts, for dissecting DJ Dan's podcasts, anything podcast related]
Persephone [research on her, everything about her hacks, etc...]

6/15/2006 03:47:00 PM
Blogger WatermarkStudents said...

Wizardry,

Start with what you think is most relevent. What is an idea that you have seen discussed in the comments that needs to come to the forefront of this experience. One example would be the timeline. Somebody needs to post the timeline on the research blog. That required research and is very valuable but hard to find for casual players. Another example is maybe the tangential stuff...

Get the idea?

6/15/2006 03:51:00 PM
Blogger WatermarkStudents said...

Other ideas of where to start...
Research discussions related to the analysis of the semantics of each of Persephone's messages. How have they changed? Can we determine if we are still hearing from the original P? Can we ascertain if she is really who she says she is? Can we infer her motives or current situation? How is she affiliated with DJDan? What role are the Verizon message boarders playing?

Some of these are tough questions but I think there are answers out there...

as for the hello game... I assumed it was another sublymonal add and didn't go through it the first time. Not sure what sequence you are refering to rorschach, it's only going through what I type (with four guys down the right corner being OBEY)

If you mean the "four" men in bottom right corner then it is OBEY nothing new.

Maybe we need to figure out some password to go into the "hello" game seeing as though DJDan mentions "hello" on his site. Maybe not though.

from sam on ITE, you go to the hello thing and type in BigD there is the podcast. Iceland, Tonya is back, mention of DJDan's wife

O and N do seem to be the same. I don't think it was always this way because I played about with this quite a lot and never noticed.

Also "hello" seems to just give the the same as typing tongue. Do not know if we a chasing nothing here or not. Has hello always worked anyone?

oooh, just noticed... when talking about Iceland and crimes they mention Bjork walking down the street, Tonya asks if she is wearing her duck outfit... IT WAS A SWAN BJORK WORE!

And this seriously dates the podcast... they mention Persephone's hack of the Vik institute page!!!

Just wanted to make sure everybody saw this on Inside the Experience:

Congrats to JustWillow - the first person to tell me about "light sequence again." Type it in at MHA and watch what happens! I'll go more into detail about how the password was found, etc... in my Week Six Round-Up.

Thanks. long-time lurker, first time poster. It looks to be some sort of memory game that promises prizes (an Apollo bar) after 42 correct entries but it automatically screwed me up after 16 correct entries.

m. rolfe g. - Welcome! The light sequence again clue was run through in clue #51. It gave us what DHARMA stands for by giving you one word for each of the numbers you complete at 4 correct you get "Department", at 8 correct-"of Heuristics", etc. Idaho Girl was even kind enough to get to 108 for us and found that.... nothing happened. So, 42 is the mark to hit, but if you'd rather just read about it, check clue #51.

completely-confused - in the source code on one of the sublymonal pages, there is a comment that says "Look at the plane - P". On the tail of the plane in one of the looping images is "108". We put that in to get the first podcast.

I'm going to listen to the podcast again... I think I heard a couple items worth mentioning...

Blogger Dr3dPir8 said...

Ok, listened again, and from what I haven't seen mentioned yet:

He refers to the line from the letter that says "prisoner in a hall of mirrors" - I think this may just be referencing the symbology, but could be important. I know that in the series, they often use mirror images in their shots. Also, could be leading us to use a mirror image for one of the clues(?) Perhaps along the lines of how Da Vinci wrote his notebook... don't know, just stood out to me.

DJ Dan says he refered to Tonya as "a Young 30" - if we want to read into this, we can use it as another clue that Tonya is Persephone. In Greek mythology, Persephone is also known as the Kore or "Young Maiden".

Alright, back to work with me... catch up with ya'll l8r.

in the hello game, type in "BigD", and hit enter - this should start the podcast. If not, you can listen to it at wizard's link above (thanks wiz!)

Before I forget - also noticed that there are no commercials on this one either.

Correct. No commercials. And why is Tanya acting so weird??? Is it a recording that went wrong? I gues we will try and find out. Where is lena?

Just thought I would allow people to download the other podcast from sublymonal by typing in 108. I hadn't been able to download to computer before so I thought I would record it and do it that way. Hope it helps someone.

KATAMARMOM:
Thanks for lena info.

With regard to podcasts out of order. Even though DJDan mentioned that "last week" he mentioned Tanyas age It doesn't need to mean that it must have been the previous podcast we got. Maybe we will never hear the age one. I am sure we do not hear everything that they do on the podcasts. It seems to me that what we are hearing is only selected parts of the podcast. (sure I saw that mentioned before but I could be wrong).

In any case, I DO agree that podcasts are out of order (but I am beginning to think that it is not a simple case of they are backwards). This new podcast seemed to be the old Dan back. SHUTDOWN and conspiracies and all. If we see the conspiraspy page update on his site it will confirm this is a recently recorded one I think.

Hope that made sense.

I think there is definitely something going on. It would be A LOT EASIER to determine if DJDan/Tanya have changed motives etc due to outside forces (esp Hanso) IF we knew the correct order. I find that part very frustrating becuase we are all doing a lot of work on this but getting no where concrete. Hopefully this latest one might somehow clear it up.

welovecov - it was discovered on ABC news that one of the Senior VPs of marketing said that TLE would give insight into the history and possibly the future of the show. In the last several clues, we have seen more and more connection to the show. He did state that you don't have to watch the show to play the game, so I don't think anything from the show will "solve the game" for us, but there is a definite link for those interested in the show. Also, keep in mind that the first clue was gotten from a commercial that aired during the show...

That said, I agree that the characters in the experience need to be understood, and hopefully that will give us more insight into the game and a better idea as to "who" our players are.

The LOST Experience reminds me of games you used to play when you were a kid and really bored.

You would be walking along and say "skip over cracks in the sidewalk", then after a while "don't touch the black spots, they're lava", and so on and so forth.

Making up rules as you go along in a game that can't be won until you decide the game is simply over.
