I used to think that THF music was soothing, but now, the first thing I do when I log on is turn off the music... she reminded me of a Sound Blaster voice program I used to play with... I'm thinkin' it was wrong, but if next week comes and we log on to THF and hear that Growing Pains song then WOW..what a score for an interview...

btw, I'll be at the Con in San Diego next month (always go)... I will deliver a full report on the night after the Hanso announcement

We need more than just one research blog.

Research blogs suggestions:

Lost Helpdesk [help with brower/blogging/support issues]
Lost Advertisement [place to post stuff found on random advertisements]
Lost characters
Lost island
Lost Mythology
General Mythology [Greek/Roman, etc...]
Literature [about literature references]
DJ Dan update blog [about updates to site relevant to game]
Retrievers of Truth update blog
The Hanso Foundation update blog
Gary Troup
Enzo Valenzetti
IRC help

I know it's a lot, but I'll help make them, and I'm sure other people would help as well.

And, this would be a lot better than just one research blog. It's more spread out and specific; just the type of thing we need to stay on top of this game.

A big round of applause for idaho_girl!

belly0fdesire -- I wish I could go, but please keep us updated on what you see!

Also, good job on the podcast, guys! I have a few points:

1. The ukulele is a nice touch, and it gives some style to the show, but it stands in the shadow of the laser, horn, and train whistle.

2. Save Joop is most likely in-game, as I have suspected for quite some time.

3. The Persephone thing... come on guys... man, I hope people don't start making up fake interviews with Persephone now... that would get annoying pretty quick. Travis mentioned it before, but this type of thing really *does* make you guys seem like an early 80's morning radio show. :D

4. ITE has been getting pretty bad lately. Speaker said he can't do the registration thing, but he's working on being able to ban names and/or IPs.

5. The object of the game? I personally believe that the key to all of this is the Valenzetti Equation, but finding Alvar Hanso may also be a possible one. Bringing the Hanso Foundation down, also another one.

6. Hey Daniel, I take back what I said about you -- you are just as cool as everyone else on the podcast! I realized a little while after I wrote that e-mail that you guys were just playing with each other, and that you probably do that all the time. What you guys said today on the podcast confirms that, so it's all good. :D

Everyone keep up the good work!

Not sure if there are techie geeks out there, but the podcasts reminds me of the OLD Screen Savers (now Attack of the Show) on G4(Which was TechTv), anyways my point is. I think you could definately turn your podcast into a regular Broadcasting, with Images and videos of the things you guys are discussing. A site new to the internet (well fairly new) is Veoh.com which is for the broadcasters and directors of the future. It would be great to see a show for The Lost Experience, the podcast already sounds great. I guess i'm hooked now :) Thats ok with me

Hope everyone enjoyed the podcast. While I'm as big of a Growing Pains fan as the next guy (Daniel being the next guy), I'd settle for the Family Matters theme with Steve Erkel welcoming me to the Hanso site rather than have to listen to the Hanso theme again. Who knows axelsoar, maybe "Kirk Cameron" will be one of the passwords next week.

Remember, make sure that you all head over to savejoop.com and sign the petition if you haven't already. I can't wait to see what happens when we hit 10,000. I'm looking forward to the research blog getting up and running as well.

I'll try to work on my ukulele skills before I appear again, but matt the pale, I have to disagree with you...clearly the ukulele overshadows all the other sound effects.

Dont have any clues to that. It would rock if there were, but so far, no. I sometimes think its just the writers either REALLY like Koontz writing or they have simular writing techniques.

What really got me going one day was the guy over in the insidetheexperience that goes by THE WOLFE... Wolfe is a pen name of Koontz, and he was in on shuting down that board that day with a guy who went by aaron which happens to be the first name of that pen name...Aaron Wolfe...with an E and that end.

Not sure now what got me and hubby thinking he could be something I now dont think he was, but at the time, it seemed so clear LOL. Funny thing is though...WOLFE would NEVER answer my questions like "how is gerdy?" and "how is trixie?" which are wife and dog of Koontz. He would answer all other questions and never wandered why I was asking those questions. VERY ODD.

Okay guys, I'm about to go get some sleep, but I thought I'd post this before I go. I posted this under Clue #52, but I wanted to repost it in here since I think it is important for people to see. There seemed to be much discussion about the nanotechnology and the black cloud.

This is a direct quote from the Wikidpedia LOST page. It falls under the section marked Discredited Theories:

"The "black smoke" is a nanobot cloud similar to the one featured in Michael Crichton's novel Prey — dismissed by Damon Lindelof"

Once again, I'm not saying they wouldn't lie to us, but they have indeed denied the nanobot theory.

Good night all,

6/14/2006 11:00:00 PM
Blogger vexingmodstwo said...

Labtech, a nanobot is a specific term within nanotechnology.

Nanobots have "brains".

I think that the producers were playing semantics. It is entirely possible that the black smoke is indeed nanotechnology (nanomachines, not bots) which are controlled remotely instead of self-directed.

Make sense?

6/14/2006 11:05:00 PM
Blogger Lab_Tech said...

I'm right there with you. I definitely agree that they might very well just be playing semantics here with this one. I definitely wouldn't put it past them, but I think everyone should approach the topic with all the facts. I'm not sure this denial by Lindelof was well known. I'm not writing the nanotech idea off, just not putting all my eggs in that basket yet. Okay, really going to bed now.

ok, long time reader, first time poster, etc., etc.

now that i have gotten that out of the way, in my little world, politics dominates all. the last couple of clues have got me to thinking about the political positions of the people who are making claims about the Hanso foundation and also how DJ Dan mentioned that THF got booted from Sudan - do you think that maybe (keeping in mind the idea about seeing the picture to make the puzzle) that THF is working with some other government (who I don't know) to hide Hanso - one that needs cash, arms, etc. more than a country like Sudan. Just was an idea that came to me after listening to both podcasts and it is a way that things in the game have not gone yet.

Random, I know, but it is late and my husband won't listen to my theories anymore...sigh.

Behind the Scenes:

1. The Podcast is more of a "just for fun" thing for us and our listeners and friends from this site. I wouldn't read too much into what we say or do on that thing.

2.I think the Persephone interview was just Daniel's very creative way of expressing his annoyance at the music, expressing the idea that DJDan & Persephone are connected, and initiating a new theory about some "accident".

3. Since it is "just for fun" the way we prep is that we each agree to come up with at least one topic each. Then we express our views on that topic, and then engage with one another about the different topics. We don't prep together so we don't always know what to expect out of each other. Daniel surprised us today with the Persephone thing. My opinion is that he just went above and beyond this week with his prep and presented his topic in an really well done live interview format. It was gutsy but I think it was brilliant and very funny.

Hoping he hasn't "sold out" on us... :)

I am into politics too and see what you are saying. Remember the letter referencing "hanson starting wars at the speed of light" or something like that?

But I for some reason felt odd about that letter....let me go hunt that down on my computer and get back at you in a few.

Blogger leelee2233 said...

thanks, lena.

I remember the "starting wars" comment, I think it was about tribes (sic) using what was created by THF against warring factions.

And if THF is truly a foundation, it needs to be government certified for tax purposes, so I wonder what the connection would be there.

Again, random...

Admins - Great job! I love listening to the podcasts you guys put out. To put it in perspective, I have yet to "catch-up" on the official Lostcasts, but have listened to all of yours. Again, great job.

idaho girl - you deserved the "shout out". Thanks again for your patience and determination.

bellyo - yes! please let us know what happens at comic con!

lab_tech - I agree about the nanotech for several reasons: 1. official denouncement of the theory, 2. Ask Javi podcast that I've mentioned earlier, 3. I think that might be a little too close to plagiarism for ABC/Disney (i.e. Koontz references)

leelee - welcome, and I feel your pain... I like the new approach, and think that the political aspects of it all may come into light...

Back in the day, I thought nano technology solved a lot of stuff on LOST, especially the monster, and personally, I think the way this all was described in the podcast, it is the writers laughing about the possibility again.

In the LOST community, we used key terms such as "rain cloud" like monster and "nanites" and its connection to electromagnetism. Then, Damon Lindelof said that there was no nano technology going on; though, we did get the bone about "what do you consider nano bots?" It's all just to throw us off as usual.

The important thing from this podcast, I think, is all about the mind control. The tower he is referring to was shown in the last clue making that extremely load noise similar to the season 2 finale noise. Also, he is saying that despite seeing the tower, they can't see any island base or anything.

Maybe that tower protects the island from being found unless it is found by accident? A sort of mind control that limits our ability to perceive the huge island from the sky. It would explain how Flight 815 landed on the island but couldn't be found. It is a fluke occurance, an accident. Now, as indicated by Desmond and the end of Season 2, unless you go the exact perfect way (maybe opposite of the tower), you can't get out.

All of this sure does make electromagnetism sound pretty crazy. Maybe it will bring back popularity in Einstein's Grand Answer to Everything. Electromagnetism being the key to perception and life itself.

I dont think this is possible...the plane wreck HAD to be somewhat planned. Think about all of the connections and everything going on, and how the "others" knew the names of everyone and so on...

Back indeed.

lena, I thought they were using their psychic kids(like ol Special Walt) to get their names. Or something else that has not been explained yet.

Of course it wasn't -random- per se for them to end up there, but their crashing was random. The season 2 finale showed that it was a random act of Desmond not getting back in time from the random act of the guy trying to leave with his boat. All of that was random. Then, that created the pulse that pulled down the plane that crashed it.

Now, unless you are telling me that somehow they controlled that Desmond would go out that day, stay just long enough to be late, and have a big electromagnetic pulse pull down the plane that was flying by right at that moment in time, then I say it was quite random.

Still, you could say that somehow someone or something is controlling all of their fates and actions bringing them all together ever since the original experiments in the 70s. Yet, as far as evidence goes at this point, the finale showed that their crash was random due to a random event. The rest is certainly not random.

Maybe it is all about painting it as a small world and looking at the themes of lives influencing other lifes, just in an extreme case. I believe until we gain more facts, we must accept that the season 2 finale gives more reason to believe that it was a random act brought about by the actions of Desmond.

Well... yeah.

Isn't that what the LOST ARGH! is?
It is a giant, expansive War of the Worlds tale. To the uninformed, the Hugh McIntyre interview was an interview with some guy from a charitable organization with ties to a show that "some of their friends watch".

If there was a Hanso commercial that mentioned cloning, don't you think there would be at least a thousand anti-cloning people calling their fake phoneline or going to the Hanso site complaining that it is buggy and being oddly hacked while they are there?

Someone looks up "answers to everything equation" through google on a whim. ooo A site about some Valenzetti guy! How strange but interesting.

1/6 of all people whom buy the Gary Troup book Bad Twin don't watch LOST. Half didn't know that Gary Troup wasn't a real author, which really let them down to find out, since it was such a nice thriller. Where's our Bad Triplet sequel?

Everything in the LOST ARGH! is Orson Welles' "War of the Worlds". Everything.

We are people that know he is reading a transcript on a radio show.

To others, we are being invaded. Or they just never heard of the oh so charitable Hanso Foundation.

Thanks for tuning in.

But the biggest thing I have to tackle to make that theory more real would be to get WHY would someone (and who) would do it.

I dont think I am gonna get into why I am at this conclusion tonight but in the morning I will post something about it on my blog.

lol. I was just running with the theme. I understood how you meant the DJDan stuff to be an in-game hoax. heh. I just like the connection between owelles and the Lost Argh!.

Speaking of which, I prostrated a theory a while back about both DJDan and Persephone, though mainly DJDan.

I wondered if it was all 1984 syndrome. The evil makes its own enemy so that it can control both its own followers and the followers of their "enemy". Thus, they control the minds of both sides and can end an enemy for a new one at any time.

I think that DJDan and perhaps even Persephone, are fabrications of the group behind the Hanso Foundation. We'll just call them... the Hanso Group. With so much talk of dark dealings and every person on the board of directors being the leader of endless numbers of things, from newspapers to rights corporations, it makes sense that maybe it is a formulated fight.

When one senses a rise of dissidence, should you crush the threat? To most traditional villains, yes, but under the 1984 "absolute control" mentality, one matches rising dissidence with providing a hero of the cause that you can control. Then, you have the prominent voice of both sides. Not one person is left without your influence.

DJDan as a character is a hoax, a fraud, but a fraud given life by the Hanso Group. Maybe even Persephone is just a diversion and a false leader to draw attention away from the true people behind it all. Maybe we haven't seen the faces of any of the top brass of the HF because they don't exist. The Hanso Foundation is a cover for the true group beneath the surface. The Hanso Group behind the worldwide DHARMA project.

Alvar Hanso, a saint and charitable soul of his time. Died but kept alive in the news to keep the Hanso Foundation visage alive. One day people will shut down the Hanso Foundation, only to find a coffin at its top and a backdoor in the shadows.

why would someone create a hoax/conspiracy masquerading as a hoax? By having a crack-pot conspiracy theorist spouting all this stuff out it opens the ideas up to ridicule and less people are likely to believe it as being true... it discredits the truth opening the way for Hanso to project their false holier than thou image

Exactly, lavenda.

Haven't you noticed a trend with DJ Dan lately? He has continued to have more and more absurd things to say.

Mind control? Nano technology?

He is known for saying he is fighting against "The Man". That phrase has for years been a stereotype of naive hippies. A phrase ridiculed for its generalization and indescrimenant attack.

Even -he- is a corporate whore now.

All of this adds up to making him indeed seem preposterous and people's theories against the Hanso Foundation to sound like, well, conspiracy theories. Conspiracy theorists? What a loaded term. To call anything a "conspiracy" in this day and time is to actually discredit it some. It makes it seem nutty.

JFK was shot with a magic bullet sponsored by the Russians.
The Hanso Foundation is secretly genetically altering creatures and doing scary secret experiments on super children in African countries.
The moon landing was all staged by the government.
The Hanso Foundation has a huge tower of mind control and a lost island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

They all sound rather preposterous to me.

But we know better?

Maybe we don't.

It is -completely- 1984 syndrome.
Mind control? No secret electromagnetic signals for that. Look simply to media. The media of Hanso and the media of DJDan. Maybe even Persephone. Mind control of the willing and eager.

Now, for me to say who... where would the fun be in that?

Regardless, there -are- plants in our community. For even with a leader, there needs to be that one person in the crowd to start clapping first.

Who is that person?

I'm not going to say it is the rather cunning JustWillow. To say that would be unfounded for certain.

very true. the more i think about lost, the more i think about the 6 degrees of seperation of desmond or jack. somehow all these characters can be related back to one another in ways that would have never been apparent unless they were brought into a small controlled environment. like crashing on an island.

another theory that relates back to djdan and nutters (in general, not us) spouting conspiracy theories. they could be set up by hanso as past of another experiment. think if the ARG and lost were actually REAL and not a brilliantgame/tv show, look at all the message boards popping up on the web around the world and hits to the hanso site. maybe this is a 1984-type world where big brother (in game world, big brother being ABC and the TPTB) watch ing us. as a large company being founded/run by someone with a shady past (alvar the WWII arms dealer) they would be involved in some very questionable practices in areas of the world where it would go virtually unnoticed. and of course they have questionable morals (cheating on their wives and whatnot- absolute power corrupts absolutely) maybe P is someone who regained her conscience (like the tobbaco whistle-blowers releasing in-house memos) and is throwing the company's ethics on the table. maybe djdan is the nutter being fed conspiracy theories in the hope that the public will just blow him off as some hippie with an ax to grind. or maybe he and P are the new Lone Gunmen (another X-Files reference) that only sound crazy because what is going on is so unbelievable (ignorance is bliss)

maybe LOST is just about two star-crossed lovers (penelope and desmond) trying to get back to one another and everyone else involved are just the casualties of war. OMNIA VICENT AMOR. love conquers all.

or i could very well have no idea of what i am talking about. =)

Another crazy-assed theory about what's going on (big one this)...

The more I watch in the show and the more about THF this game reveals, the more this makes sense in my mind.

Alvar Hanso, even though he traded arms in WWII, is actually a good guy whos vision has been corrupted (draw a comparison with Milo Rambaldi from "Alias"). The atrocities committed in WWII opened Alvar's eyes to the true nature of humanity and the horrors they are capable of. Be it penance for his role, spiritual awakening, or whatever, Alvar dedicates his life and money to the betterment of humankind, "reaching out for a better tomorrow".

But like every genius and visionary his work has ultimately been corrupted by the very thing it's trying to help - human nature - and used for evil ends.

So in comes the likes of Thomas Mittlewerk, Peter Thompson, Hugh McIntyre, etc. who warp and twist the Hanso vision. The Hanso Foundation now is still determined to bring about the betterment of humankind, only now it's in the form of the perfect genetic species, and to do away with the old. Perhaps now THF are no better than the Nazis in WWII.

Alvar Hanso in turn has since been "silenced" but his image is still used as the public face, the face of benevolence.

Far-reaching I know, but I'll post my reasonings for this in the next post so I don't jam up the board!

not far-reaching at all. there have been many experiments, etc that were meant to benefit humankind, but in the end, have been twisted to suit the needs of a select few. think about the gene research being conducted now. yes it is beneficial to find the gene that causes birth defects but is it necessary to find the "gay" gene? the only reason why i did not contribute any benelvolence to alvar hanso is because i am unsure if a person can really change. maybe he started off with the best intentions but was warped by his own vision and then found those that would carry on his work and he is in some cryogenic tank waiting to be thawed when the cure for disease and death has been found.

sorry- it's raining in boston YET AGAIN so i'm feeling bitter than usual. your theory is probably truer. =)

OK...for a laugh I asked a friend of mine to perform an I Ching reading for our favourite 6 numbers. What he got was quite interesting. the following is copied over from my comment in clue #52:

4: the hidden and concealed, the unaware, the immature.
Engery comes from envelopment, which is accomplished by being immature

8: Mutual support, working as a team, change how you think.
Use the energy of the group

15: Balance, adjustment, remain true to fundamentals (This one is a bit out there, one of the less relevent)

16: Direct, spontaneous responses (this one too...)

15 and 16 present a paradigm when show together which indicates preperation for the future, bringing us back to the out with the old style

23: remove old ideals, eliminate outmoded ideas.
Use the energy of the new

42: Increase numbers, expand, develop, fertilisation and expansion.
Energy comes from Augmentation

Now look at the nature of the projects Persephone's revealed: genetic research, life extension, mysterious mental experimentation - perhaps the development of controlled psychic abilities at the Vik Institute (the original phone messages refer to "accelerated remote viewing") - all could be geared up to creating the perfect human specimen.

Based on the acronym gained from the Simon Says game in the latest clue, perhaps the DHARMA Initiative was set up to the culmination of these various branches of Hanso research, using our remote Pacific island as the stage: psychological experiments in the "swan" hatch (monitored in the "pearl"), this mysterious "vaccine" that Desmond was pumping himself with (and now Claire's pumping into Her baby), the abduction of Walt who's special in some way, perhaps psychic (who reckons he accidentally killed his mother with his untapped abilities??), the severe EM distortions.

Here's my humble thought on Desmond- SPOLIER FOR SEASON 2 **********************************************************************

What you guys are forgetting abt the Desmond "accident" is this...remember when they found the pilot- he said that they were already (not sure exactly) 1000 miles offcourse. Now my theory is this...pilots were in on it. They were supposed to be in that area- you don't get 1000 miles offcourse quickly or easily- and they (Hanso, Dharma whoever) planned on Desmond following Kelvin- don't ask me how, but maybe coaching him...after all we do know Kelvin was former millitary. Haven't figured out all the details, but it is a bit odd that it seems Desmond was sent there via a crash, and now they are there the same way. We know Desmonds crash was caused by the weather, and if I remember right there are weather experiments also, right? So how can we say yet for sure that the plane crash wasn't planned as well?

One last post (thanks for the input traci)...

I believe that the original October 28 clue for Alvar Hanso's bio picture is significant with all the references to the Philadelphia Experiment thats cropped up. Now in 1943 they didn't have the technology to control their "cloaking device" (for lack of a better term), but technology lept forward after the war, so it's entirely feasible that 1970's technology was successful.

By the sounds of it, I reckon the Korean offshore station is a Philadelphia Experiment style cloak (satellite interference over the area, is that green fog around the EM field in the satellite pics?).

Perhaps the island has one too to hide the DHARMA test bed from the rest of the world. We already know that the island has some kind of magnetic weirdness to it with Locke's compass being way off magnetic north. This could also be how Desmond came back to the island - with his boat's compass being dragged towards the island's EM field his "due west" would always be changed, drawing his path around in a circle until he saw a spur of land and headed towards it. With so much open ocean around you it'd be easy to just not realise you've gone in a circle if your compass is off (unless you looked at the sun, but this is a TV show after all!). Maybe the field generator requires a continuation command every 108 minutes otherwise it shuts down and causes enough EM weirdness to change the colour of the sky and bring down passing airplanes.

the pilots very well could have been in on it- but maybe they were supposed to land somewhere (the "home" that not-henry mentions) and the crash was an accident caused by desmond. or maybe the pilots weren't in on it- but dharma/THF/island's weather experiments/radio tower/electromagnetic pulse caused them to go off-course directing them to an area to make an emergency landing but desmond screwed it up by not pressing the button. either way, it's an intriguing thought. thanks for bringing it up.
the others could have had a flight manifesto of this particular plane (or maybe all of them and then waited for one that had people on it that they were interested in) we also know that they infiltrated the losties and could have picked out the survivors they wanted.
just an idea.

Blogger Crossfade said...

Shakey: I think you're right about the cloaking device, but I don't believe the plane crash was planned. There is NO WAY that an organization like THF would leave itup to chance that Desmond would MAYBE follow Kelvin and HOPEFULLY get back in time to press the button at JUST THE RIGHT TIME for the plane to crash AND be able to recharge/continue the EM generator. And, if the pilots knew aboiut it, wouldn't they like, parachute off the plane before it went down? Or at least they would know aout the monster and not go crawling out the window when the monster went stomping by.

Just givin my opinion,

6/15/2006 08:43:00 AM
Blogger Shakey said...

I never meant that I thought the plane crash was intentional. If that cloak drops, the EM shift in the area is going to be immense, enough to change the colour of the sky and knock any passing planes out of the sky (just like the EMP from a nuke).

So, with Oceanic 815 accidentally in the area, Desmond not hitting the button accidentally knocks it out of the sky.

It's just coincidence that the plane has certain people who would be project candidates - Walt, Locke, Rose, Claire, children, etc.

i personally think that there are way to many independent variables for this all to be planned. Now maybe the pilot knew he was supposed to go off course but he also had to realize that he would deffinetly ethier die or he would have no where to go because how long was he supposed to sit in the air till his fuel runs out and then crash the plane. Also how would the others know exactly how long Desmond would be gone. Finally there is no chance
in hell that anyone could get 6 people who never knew of each other or the hanso foundation or DHARMA on a plane from Australia to LA without for no apperent reason.

I'm just waiting for the moment the hoax within a hoax is revealed. Probably at the beginning of the next season. All of a sudden, surprise! The people fightening against THF will really show up again telling their awful stories of being capture by the evil corporation. Thr Hanso group has been putting all of us "player" through their hoops and leading us down blind paths because they could and we followed like a flock of chickens with our brains cut out.

The real reason the game is going in the direction it is, is first to keep interest in TV show Lost. Second and most importantly, it's free advertisement for so many companies. We have Jeep, Sprite, Monster.com, Verizon, music labels and musicians, just to name a few. I wonder if the reason we have gotten so many clues lately (all answered at inhuman speeds - those damn moles)is because more and more companies want to get free advertisement.

Could you image if TV/game couplings become the next reality shows? That would be so annoying but it might just happen. You get free advertisement for the show, lots of marketing for companies that want to sponsor the game, and endless entertainment for people already addicted to TV and computers. Computer screens in the future will have to have built in sun lamps so we don't become deficient in vitamin D.

You might laugh but it could happen. So now we're talking about a hoax within a hoax within a marketing strategy. I know this is off topic but I started and just couldn't stop. I think I'll go take a walk now!

fitz/traci - yes, the compass heading that Fenry (Fake Henry) gave was 3-2-5.

Another idea around the planned/unplanned crash could be that someone on the plane-not necessarily the pilots, but someone else who could fly a plane-was in on getting the plane to the island. Usually, in a cross-ocean commercial flight, there are at least 3 in the cabin: pilot, co-pilot, and a "third seat" (can't remember the term just now). When Jack opens the cockpit, one of these falls out; the pilot is still strapped in; where's the third? where are the flight attendants? This being said, what if
**possible spoiler for Season 2**

Kelvin lured Desmond away from the button intentionally (he was rather obvious about the tear in his suit and unmasking so close to the hatch) so that the button wouldn't be pushed, making the island visible so the plane could land at the Others' "home". Desmond goes all nuts on Kelvin and knocks him out/kills him(?) and gets back to the hatch in time to push the button. Perhaps it wasn't Desmond's failure to push the button that crashed the plane, but pushing the button while the plane was "coming in" caused the crash?

Just my wack-o theory for that...

naturally this is all a marketing ploy, but it's also fun and we're getting to meet/interact with people we wouldn't be able to otherwise. i would much rather play a game (esp while at work) that is sponsored by a few select companies if that meant less commercials during teh actual show. i'm not so worried about a vitamin D deficiency as i really only interact online while i am at work. i'm lucky enough to have a job that i can tab back and forth any projects i may have to work on and thelostexperienceclues.com my fellow lost adicts who are not playing the ARG apprciate it too as i give them updates at lunch everyday.
there's definately the danger of advertisers/marketers taking this concept way too far, but that's the nature of the beast. i, myself, am cheating as i have not visited the sublymonal or jeep sites and choose to pick up clues from here (sorry clue seekers/solvers) and talk back and forth with everone in this community. for me, the show is still far more intriguing and entertaining than the game.

interesting. i like the idea that there could have been someone on the plane in on the "plan" i believe that cross-pacific flights (or any flight over a set amount of hours) actually has two sets of piltos/copilots/navigators. kelvin may not have intentionally lured desmond away, but desmond letting the electromagnetic pulse go off then reset in the timeframe that he did could have caused the plane to crash on the island rather than the intended landing spot (fenry's "home"?) i'm not sure if i believe kelvin really know what was going on other than something was/did happen.

alos- does anyone recall hearing a theory that the island's "beast" is a pre-historic tree-dwelling giant sloth? it would explain the trees moving and the pilot being lifted out of the cockpit in season 1.

In regards to Alvar Hanso, I'm sure many of you have seen the Gary Troup interview where he says that Hanso is the only one who has a copy of the equation. We don't know that anyone inside THF knew it or had it. I think we may see them illustrate "knowledge is power". Persephone is showing us all of this information which we might conclude will someday bring THF to its knees (and possibly find Hanso?). I for one think Alvar is still alive and hidden somewhere. (Island, maybe? We haven't seen all of the hatches...) I think that his intentions were good and when he saw the evil going on inside his organization he confronted it and was taken care of. I think that he is alive for one reason, they need him because he is the only man alive that knows the Valenzetti equation. There's my theory for the day.

Okay, so really none of that was new or cutting edge...however, just taking a moment to look at the big picture of what might be going on at Hanso and the island. I still think Alvar will come into play either in the LOST Experience or in season 3, and I think he will help take down his own organization.

Fitz/Traci: Correct. The compass heading is 3-2-5. Fenry also said that Michael wouldn't be able to find his way back and yet poor Desmond went in a circle for two weeks. Seems that at 3-2-5 there is a one-way break in the EM "screen". Also, could "home" be The Barracks mentioned in Pearl Orientation? The Others had Jack and company on Pala Ferry pier, but it seems awfully close to the dump site for the Pearl notebooks. There are far too many tubes for it to be a collection site. I guess it's possible that when your tour of duty is done at the Pearl they don't care if you see the notebooks are dumped. Your part of the experiment is over. On the other hand, you wouldn't continue to be good fodder for further testing if you thought it was all for naught.

TTT: your theory about 1984 sounds reasonable to me. In fact, to take it even farther, there are "conspiracy theories" that Disney is involved in cult activities and this whole game/show could be for exactly what you said - to discredit any information that the public hears. Bizarre, I know, but just taking the thread of thought to the next level.

Can't stand the sight of him now.

I know these are all spoilers, but that last clue about the antanae (sp) and the flash seemed to really tie the game and the finale together. Having said that... I think the reason Fenry (funny!) put them on the boat so that Kate, Jack and Hurley (was there anyone else, Sayid I think) would know that Michael betrayed them and so that they would think that Michael got free. Maybe even give them a little hope of some rescue.

I could allow it, but I just thought about it more. (All of this is based on this theory holding any weight.) If Lost is on ABC, and ABC is an affiliate of Disney, than Disney could be on our side. The logic is, if Lost is the show that originaly brought into light THF's corruption, than Disney is assisting in airing a show that is trying to show the world the truth. I dont think Disney would do this if they were affiliated with Hanso.

And this is what happens when there is no game stuff going on.

of course- we could take this further, esp with the discussion on nanobots. maybe the others are all animatronic robots (stepford wives anyone)! but i guess jack et all would have figured that out when they killed a few of them off.

Kelvin definitely lured Desmond away so that Flight 815 would be drawn to the island. It was planned. Kelvin's death was accidental -- if he's really dead. Desmond didn't really stay long enough to make sure.

I'm tired and not feeling very well today, so I'm sorry if I don't make sense... I just have to ring in on all these theories.

Lena: (this is going to be a lot of thinking through the keys...) So you think that the call from one of Hanso's goons was staged as well then? (staged staged, I mean... a bit confusing, no?) I'm with you on the podcasts being out of order, and I think this will be more evident as we go along, tho I don't know why they are being fed to us in that manner, but I'm not so sure that DJ Dan is working for Hanso... Why would they want to defame themselves? This organization is trying to let the world know how great the work they are doing is, and how it is for the betterment of civilization and society and to help us live a longer, healthier, happier life. DJ Dan is exposing the strange things that he's seen or heard them being involved in that don't fit into any of the "active projects" that they have listed on their website (off shore site with the structure towering up to the sky, electromagnetic projects assumed to be funded by THF to knock large bodies out of orbit, etc.). I don't think they would want to put DJ Dan out there to defame their foundation in this manner, and I don't think they would stage threats on his radio podcast. Of course, I don't know... I just don't think the DJ Dan podcasts are staged.

It's strange to me that Persephone asked "i wonder who pays DJ Dan's bills" a few podcasts back (if we even know that it was Persephone giving us these images). It's strange that she would be attacking him and attempting to discredit him at all if they are in cahoots...

It would be nice to get a clue that kinda gave us some insight as to what was going on with Persephone and DJ Dan. We are pretty much in the dark on everything at this point. We don't know who the bad guys are, we don't know who the good guy's are...

all we know is that Persephone keeps giving us clues about THF's evil-doings, Gary Troup wrote a novel about the Widmore family and barely mentions THF, but they want to shut him up about it and they bought all the copies of the Valenzetti Equation and DJ Dan keeps spewing slander about THF... but we really don't know for sure who we can trust.

lab_tech: I think Hanso is alive too... it's too obvious for him to be dead... I don't think he's been cryogenically frozen as implicated by DJ Dan, but i think there's going to be more of a twist to it than him just being dead. And you may very well be right about him being hidden in one of the hatches on the island...

HERE COMES SOME STUPIDITY: if he's the ONLY one that knows about the valenzetti equation (we don't know that he is), it would be a definite reason to keep him alive as long as possible... (removing D2O from his system and environment?)

I say to that - Perhaps they were in cahoots at one time. Perhaps Persephone is airing the DJ Dan Podcast in this order so that we see how someone so avidly against THF can be corrupted. This may play into the "Tonya is Persephone" theory in that Tonya was not in the latest Podcast. Perhaps she (Tonya/Persephone) left DJ Dan after he started getting corrupted.

It didn't makes sense to me that he was rude to that guy. Which also doesn't seem to fit with the theory that this podcast at least (I do agree that the podcasts are out of order)is out of order. He seems like he is more of a "sellout" in this one.

Maybe everyone on the island is a clone except for Desmond. He was put there by Penelope's father in order to keep him away from his daughter. That is why at the end of Season 2 she seems to be the only person from the outside world looking for a "survivor".

All the other characters have been placed in a hospital in some fashion. Dharma could have taken their DNA and made clones with memories of the original people. Dharma choose a diverse group to experiment on and are watching how they interact. At the same point, they implanted the plane crash into their memory- that would explain why there are so many survivors - because there was no crash.

Dhrarma is actually "the others", watching the dynamics of the group. They chose to take Jack, Kate and Sawyer because they were the leaders of the rest of the "test subjects". It's just another experiment to see how the "survivors" do without there leaders. Also, Dharma wouldn't care if someone died because they are just clones. Boone, Sharon, Libby, etc, were just unfortunate loses to the test group. This also explains why Locke can walk and Jin's wife can be pregnant, because they are clones not the actual people who are paralyzed or infertile.

Maybe Walt was a clone they tried to implant with psychic abilities so he required extra testing. They could also experiment on what a father would do to save a child.

This theory has probably come up before, but I'm bored and was trying to theorize how things can be as they are on the island.

It is like the waking dream reference...they needed to make the experiment as "real" as possible...if they do not beleive that they are in a real place they will wake from the dream, so to speak, hence waking dream...the Others could be failed experiments...which could also be the incident that shut down Dharma...

I don't think HANSO had anything to do with the losties landing on the island.
I think that shortly after the "Incident" HANSO dropped/closed the DHARMA initiative. I think the others revolted under the experiments which lead to the incident.

the plane crash was an accident and one that probably caused HANSO some headaches because they are worried that someone should find the island and expose them and what was going on there.

the fact that so many of the lead characters lives intertwined is just to show how interconnected we all are to one another in life. However it is less than a dozen character's out of all the losties that have been shown to have any previous connection. (remember there are something around 30 other losties which the show has not really shown us or told us about).

I too was just thinking that Desmond was placed on the island so to keep away from Widomre's daughter. I also think that Desmond was led away from the hatch to make the plane crash. The clone theory is very interesting. But their paths crossing were never really obvious - just bumping into someone or passing them on the street. So I could see where they wouldn't remember one another. Perhaps that explains why Hurley doesn't lose weight, because he's the clone, or becausey Libby was a psychologist, her "real" self was crazy. Hmmmm...may have something to do with the "look" Kate and the other dude (cant think of his name) were giving one another after Michael floated off in his "rescue" boat.

if the plane had not crashed, they would have continued on never taking any note or rememberance of the others and therefore not known if they ran into eachother again sometime.

How many times have you seen someone who looked vaguely familiar but cannot place where you have seen them before?

Ever hear of the theory of 6 degrees of seperation? That everyone on the planet knows or is connected to one another through no more than 6 other people?

I haven't got one yet. (Not saying I will get one). I think the invites should come but to everyone, but you have to type a word verification correctly THE FIRST TIME! That would cut it down to about 10 people. Just right."

LMAO! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has that problem..I feel retarded that I can't even type in a set of numbers and letters correctly ....most of the time I can't tell if they are i's or j's ...etc...lol!

But why was the Officer that made Sayid torture the other Iraqi guy be in the Hatch with Desmond?

There's something we haven't thought about yet.

(I don't know if anyone has posted this yet, I tried to read through them quickly, so sorry if it's a repeat)
As I was playing that memory game I was thinking -- I was totally pushing the buttons, not knowing what for, but doing it anyway... sound familiar?

noblelawyer - thanks. wasn't sure if it was old. I did sign up for the newsletter with breaking strain and then instead of the usual "welcome back" message I got the call center message. Never got that one before but must have done something wrong, given my poor typing skills.

Scott - Kelvin Joe Inman

Before his arrival to the island
Worked with Kate's stepfather in the Gulf War
Manipulated Sayid into torturing fellow soldiers under the pretense that they required an Arabic speaking person to translate. Later on in One of Them it is found out that Inman speaks Arabic himself
Gave Sayid money so he could leave Iraq for good
Claimed to be a spy for ten years when talking to Desmond. Most likely worked for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), as the tape shown to Sayid says "property of the DIA".
Said he left because "...men followed my orders."
Claimed that after leaving the service, he joined the Dharma Initiative, saying bitterly "Namaste, Thank You, and Good Luck"

Scott - Kelvin could have been hired by the Windmore family to insure the Desmond believed that he was stuck in this hatch and could never leave because outside was quarantined and in order to survive, he had to push a button ever 108 minutes. Kelvin was not a reputable man. He tortured and did unspeakable war crimes. He would be the perfect man for the job.

i'm a little "lost" this is the only place where i read/post (except what the speaker writes- i don't go through the comments) what's ITE?
i also agree that this is a great place/community to post in. even if we don't fully buy each other's theories, the majority of the comments are respectful to each other.
in short, i'm glad to be here with all of you!
