Okay guys...If you didn't know, I've been gone since Thursday. I've been reading comments like crazy but I'm having some trouble putting things together. Here's what I've got:
1. Massive dissention on what was actually communicated by Rachel's last video. Questions about her well-being, the identity of GG, the reality of Hugh's death, the voice at the door, etc abound and there are NO SOLID ANSWERS at this point. Just lots of really good speculation.
2. Mittlewerk's video should be taken largely as Verizon marketing and it's doubtful that it holds much along the lines of clues (beside the fact that he "looks" younger).
3. Retrievers of Truth are acting strangely again...possibly busy at crafting a really elaborate way to help us find another video or document.
Is that basically it? What else am I missing?

Guys, here's how I think TPTB operate: ARG planners decide the plot, the types of clues they create (videos, pics, documents, etc), the order they will be disseminated, and which commercial partners will host what. ARG planners are ALWAYS responsible for the END CONTENT and the TIME TABLE but they leave space for commercial partners like Sprite, Verizon, Jeep, and Monster to work out the PATHWAYS for discovering the important END CONTENT.
All that to say...I take most of the RoT stuff as a pathway meant to occupy our time and attention with Verizon-ish things. Not to spoil anybody's fun, but I don't think we need to read too much into every detail of what they say and do because history tells us that when it's time for us to get a clue, TPTB will give it to us like what they did with the SPIDER PROTOCOL letter.

belly, you're right though. Finding the letter was half the fun!
I guess I'm more of the type of person who likes to step back and try to understand the bigger picture and this latest Rachel video has made everything a little blurry for me. I find the RoT stuff to be a distraction rather than a fun new endeavor...I guess that just shows how little my mind can handle at one time! Or maybe it's just a testimony to how valuable it is to have different personality types working on this thing together.
I'm going to keep dwelling on some big picture plot stuff.

kenshinfan65...that was exactly what I did. I was frustrated in the beginning of this show because it seemed many people got the clues before the rest of the world knew there was a clue. I got irritated that it took computer genuiouses to figure some things out and with so many "spoof" sites out there, I wasn't sure if I found a clue or found a hoax. Turns out it was always hoax for me, but thesse last few weeks I have been able to play a long better and it seems so slow now. I would like it to go back to when I was the dummy and playing catch up!
Well, that is me, never satisfied :)

Just had a "captain obvious" moment regarding the Helgus Antonius. Sorry if it's been mentioned before/is totally off the subject. It is a massive boat full of train-car-sized crates. If they are onto the exact date of Armageddon via Valenzetti calculations and are heading to an island with unique properties that will help them survive the fallout and re-develop humanity eugenics style, won't they need a butt-load of supplies to last them for years?
Helgus is simply full of everything from clothes and food to construction equipment, building materials, vehicles, computer systems, libraries, etc. Everything necessary to build, maintain, and proliferate a new society on a relatively undeveloped island. It's not the high-tech Paik boat we heard about early on, it's just a delivery boat.

What does this have to do with Valenzetti and the various interests of the Dharma Initiative? If the island is a fusion R&D plant and isn't a haven from Armageddon or at least a preparation/research facility for a eugenics-ish repopulation plan, where do Valenzetti & Dharma fit in the picture?

admin: well, the island will need power correct? i feel thf and dharma are working towards this "better tomorrow" on every scientific angle they can. not only create a race of "chosen ones" to survive armageddon, but give them the tools to start with advanced technology rather than stepping back to life in caves with campfires and rocks as tools. give them the most advanced medicine available, provide them with endless, clean power, give them a sophisticated ocean-going vessel to venture off the island when nuclear winter comes to an end.
the question is still how do they get the containers off the ship. I do not think they are going to an undeveloped island. The ship shown did not have any cranes. It is dependent on docks to unload it. Are they just going to push the containers off?
I think they are going to a different port and then will transport their container or containers by truck or train to wherever they need them.

oxillini, okay...that makes good sense. You're right. THF isn't just trying to survive nuclear winter, they are attempting to THRIVE in the wake of it. So they're holding the secret of fusion until after armageddon b/c they believe Valenzetti's predictions are inevitable? Wouldn't you think that the introduction of fusion into the equation might change some of his calculations? Wouldn't it be ironic if fusion technology is leaked and ends up being what causes the Valenzetti event?
noblelawyer, maybe there is more than one island. I believe this to be a possibility...that the Others "live" on a different island and only come to the Lostie island for certain purposes.

Another thing that has been bogging my mind lately is why we never actually saw any THF stuff on the island (apart from the reference to THF in the Orientation video). If they are bringing supplies to the island, why aren't any Hanso logos on it? I mean, who is making those supply drops? Hanso or Dharma? Who hired Kelvin if THF says that Dharma Iniative was cancelled in 1987?

I think the Dharma Iniative might be working on his own now. Maybe Dharma is run by the Others now. They have their own supplies and do not report to THF anymore. Or maybe they were abandoned on the island by the THF, who knows!
Anyway, I think Mittelwerk doesn't know exactly what is going on the island... Maybe he's going to find the losties drinking mojitos with the Others.

the ARG is, in general, supposed to add background to the show, and not really plot lines. The background we're receiving is pretty relevant to anyone who's seen the first few episodes of Season 2, and by most accounts the UK and AU are nearly finished with season 2. It's all good.
heather im guessing this is like bigger secrets such as the DHARMA thing. or perhaps clues for the last fewseries i guess. This is about secrets of he island.... not the show i think so we know more about how the island works.

example of how TLE enhances show enjoyment is fact that in game we learned about Widmore, and in show learned about Penelope Widmore and her father and their ties to Desmond and therefore the island. But didn't need to be playing game to enjoy that part of show.

A couple of thoughts on the new RoT newsletter: Manny mentions a "flowering." The Holy Flower? (Holyflower, theholyflower, lotus, and lotusflower do not work as PW.)Also, "Aim for the stars" might refer to constellations. Do we know anything about constellations and the destination of Mittelwerk's boat?

Great article Scott...thanks for posting. Since there hasn't been anything at all, I too have been obsessing over tiny things. I actually use AOL, really, and I have checked the profiles of all of the Verizon guys as well as some suspect key names. When ROT first sent AIMs they all had black backgrounds and an icon of a little girl in their profiles. Now the girl is gone and fiberoptician/BBB/Persephone do not have a black background anymore...they are now blue. All other ROTs have black. Also, username mandrakewig and openershep have a black background with an AIM advert as their icon (real or not?). I don't know what this means if anything at all...but maybe fiber is joining ranks with BBB...we'll see soon enough I guess.
Mostly I am just bored, waiting, and obsessing a little:)

You needed the password if you went through let your compass guide you, which is what was linked off RB's blog. Then click on the folder "zero and such" which took you to jeep.

Actually, When you click the word "LOST" it takes you to the Compass, and from there you click safet/security then crush zones. That is how I found it....
My way to get to the video is actually the way it should be on the front page. The path on the front is longer than mine...
I listened to the iron guy and to me it's the same. Looks the same, too.
